It will take a huge hit if he vetoes it as well. It is a no win for Reed.

He has spent all his political capital in his first two months in office. He, as well at the GOP as a whole, have to pace themselves while they have this congressional advantage or else the party will implode or Reed will not be re-elected. Pushing this many tough, divisive bills through Congress in such a short span of time has consequences.

Granted, it’s as much the Senate to blame as Reed, but Reed needs to take control and shift the focus to less controversial matters for awhile if he doesn’t want his approval to tank.
