Conquest of Seriphos

Postby Grand Republic of North America » Sat Jul 21, 2018 9:31 pm

The high hills rose over the horizon, it was time, the glory of Athens would be demonstrated in this conquest. Th triremes crashed into the sandy beaches and the men began to disembark their mighty ships. The pride of Athens, the Paralus, encircled the island along with the rest of the mighty warships. The Athenian troops who had been training for months now ran to the encircle the barely fortified city. The troops created two main phalanxes along either side of the city, and two contingents on the other sides of swordsman. They began to march, before the defenders could realize it their entire town was encircled and there were no holes in the offensive formation. They fought honorably but were decimated by the combination of swords and spears. On the local rulers plaza a great flag of Athena was raised overhead, during Miltiades much shorter occupation the people would become fond of the helpful Athenians. Miltiades walked down to the beach and look towards the sea and envisioned the island of naxos which had recently been occupied by the Spartans. He slammed his dory sword into the ground and made a promise on that day, one which he would fulfill.Night would soon fall over the island, Athenian conquest once again was successful.

Calm before the Storm

Postby Mittel Europe » Sat Aug 18, 2018 1:50 pm

Everything has seemingly been at a standstill as if the gods themselves have somehow slowed time. To the delight of all citizens within Greece, peace holds. Yet the peace is frail in nature, and all it takes is one drop of blood for all of Greece to be engulfed in war.

Sparta has consolidated in its region as of now, awaits the response of Thebes with regards to the tensions with the isles west of the Peloponnese. Sparta has also formed the Peloponnesian League as a counterbalance to the Boeotian League. Corinth and Crete have both expanded their island possessions, most of which are in close proximity to Athens. Only time will tell whether Athens will respond with force to such expansion.

New powers stir. In Pella, the Macedonians prepare for expansion, perhaps wanting to push south against those who would call them barbarians. Meanwhile, the city-state of Calydon has taken notice of their proximity to the great powers in Greece, and will not simply stand idly in the current political climate of Greece.

Tensions linger in Greece. The question lies, who will strike first?

Athenian conquest north of Thebes

Postby Grand Republic of North America » Fri Oct 26, 2018 9:21 am

Athens after have expanded her naval realm but now the elected general set his eyes on a new prize, opus. Opus had long been an independent kingdom but by conquering it Athens would finally be expanding her holdings on mainland Greece. So early in the morning once more trieremes carved into the sand and off cake the banner of Athena. Her owl flying proud above the Athenian army and onto the shore they marched. They would march to the city and begin their siege. The ram easily took down the gate but after that they had to face the spears of opus. The spear men had the Athenian army trapped in prolonged combat in a mall corridor of homes. However militates being the cunning man he was led a detachment around the city in a hurry and snuck in. Their men charged the backs of the spearmen and locked hem in a brutal melee. The fight lasted hours but at the end of it an Athenian owl flew high over the capital of opus and Athens was once more glorious.

Cornithian Trade Expands

Postby The Catt Thess » Mon Oct 29, 2018 2:35 pm

Cornith ships have been using the port of calydon for months now in support of its expansion further up the coast. With that much exchange between leadership of the Cornith council and Calydon. With an agreement made, Calydon would join in the Cornith trade council. Both will come to each other aid and a delegate will be left to help maintain communications at all times.

The other ships completely surrounded the island of Lesbos and saw its hoplites and generals coming down their ships and forming a phalanx on each of the six entry points to the island. Then, General Epizelos lead the hoplite phalanxes into the island and started the attacks. Initally, there was some resistance amongst the locals of the land but after seeing the vast army arriving and the kind-heartedness of General Epizelos as he spared a family because the baby cried, most of the locals swore allegiance to the Samos Empire, and finally the final few non-cooperative men were imprisoned and the Palace of Lesbos, the Seat of the Local Chieftain saw the Lesbos flag being changed to the Samos Empire's one and Emperor Zografos assured compensation to all those affected and appointed Genereal Epizelos as the newly captured territory's governor due to his brave service in the conquest, the conquest finally achieved saw General Epizelos take his place as the Governor of the Lesbos Island.

Conquest of Eryth

Postby Grand Republic of North America » Sat Jan 19, 2019 1:49 am

Athens, a bustling metropolis and a rising power. Athens had begun a great expansion after its the upheavals of revolution but now it was growing...fast. The Athenians had been pushing south but after landing on Anatolia Miltiades redirected his campaign, North to the province of Eryth. A province that would help to dominate trade in the area. Early in the morning under the guidance of the elected general the Athenians landed and began a massive pincer move on the city , the columns dispersed to form phalanxes on each street of the city with reserves clearing buildings they passed. Through this technique the city was easily cleared and the Athenian flag raised once more.
