You are kind of isolated in the North right now, so don't count on anyone making contact with you yet. I am in the same situation, so we are just going to need to expand and be patient, who knows we might even make first contact with each other.

Faction Military Might - the populace is fairly well armed but there are 44 dedicated soldiers and a few repurposed robots.
Faction Biography - Pre-War it was originally a facility meant to house the government in the case of a nuclear holocaust, by the time of 2076 it was considered outdated for those needs. Still it was a FEMA facility and housed a number of important features that would prove vital when the apocalypse did come.
A sprawling complex with mainframe computers, air circulation pumps, a tv and radio studio as well as its own police and fire department, Mount Thunder became a haven for those fleeing DC to the North and the surrounding countryside. The civilian refugee population quickly outnumbered the military and bureaucratic one. A council was formed which quickly devolved into two factions, the populists and the originalists, the populists represented the refugee population and the originalists those who actually worked at the facility before the war.
Though tensions were high at times the plentiful resources of the region and the technological advantage of Mount Thunder helped ease tensions and make the apocalypse that much easier to manage. After two decades Mount Thunder opened itself up to trade, leveraging technology and security with other communities in Maryland, Virginia and DC. A fortress on a hill that was a tough target for raiders to hit, and a regional trading hub bringing wealth to the people of Mount Thunder.
Trading camps and outposts set up throughout the areas by Mount Thunder, centered around precious resources and valuable strategic locations became their own communities to be represented in the council which soon transformed into a Congress with a Constitution. Mount Thunder became the Blue Ridge Federation with settlements dotting Northern Virginia and its influence being felt across the region, with it being the end and start point of lucrative trade routes on the eastern seaboard.

NASA emerged into the open and after fighting with some raider groups they established authority over the territory. Now the faction is in search of surviving data on space faring technology and is trying to get their hands on any pre-war artifact it can find.

How would the Enclave not know about the Vault beneath the NASA MSF center? Based on what you're saying. It appears to be an highly advanced (if not better) vault. Surely, they would of knew about it?

Faction Biography - The Burning River Republic grew out of Vault 11 located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park which was just outside the suburbs of Cleveland. While the Vault was spared the horrific fate like others, Vault 11 did have it’s own experiment, though not vital. Once the subjects entered they had all had there gonads genetically removed their sperm and egg saved. The goal of this Vault to see how a society would change with a lack of sexual drive. Another part of this was to also observe how a eugenic society would act. With the genetics of the subjects they went out to genetically engineer new babies for parents and newly weds. This was wildly successful. Instead of cloning the best combination of traits which would lower genetic variation and thusly lower the chance of survival they have made a population that was both diverse as well as is very good health. However this new generation would continue on without their ancestors gonads. When the vault doors opened they went out and founded a small town outside of their walls. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park acted a way to get into the city, it was like arm arm that reached into the heart skipping past the suburbs. From this savending was made easier and soon a new town was made: Smoke Town, named after the huge plume of smoke all of the people saw when they first when out of the Vault. Smoke Town was made outside of Madina on the intersection of old Route 18 and Interstate 71.
The river itself is highly related and catches on river is a strange ritualist fashion. The smoke is smog like and lays like a mist in downtown during this time making the city a dangerous place with feral ghouls everywhere.
The Vault is the center of the Republic with most living inside or outside of it. The government of the Burning River Republic still gives out children to newly weds of people from there vault and is home to a medical center for the sick.
The Republic has taken the stance of accepting refugees with open arms as long as they become citizens of the Republic during civil duties, or serve in there small was well armed and trained military.
The Republic does lack experience. There army is severely crippled by their nervousness to go on long expedition. The military mostly keeps guard at the Vault, which’s defences keep it safe from raider attacks from the outside quiet well while the well armed Republic soldiers can keep safe inside the walls. Small dispachs also escort the supply route from Smoke Town to Reverence.
