I get that that is your ideal story line, but when you are working in a role play with other people, you can't just plow through everyone to reach your preferred outcome.
It is like a boss fight where, after you got the boss down to one health, but then it goes to a cutscene where the players lose anyway for the sake of the story. Except here, there is no one set path for the story, but rather different people's decisions and actions influencing the larger world storyline at whole, and when those cutscene where you lose no matter what happen in Rps like that, then it is both unfair and unfun for the other players as their stories and characters are getting shot down left and right.
Anyways, how about this for a fix instead of just having there be a random '...' as a post. Less shuts down the recording for the rest of the night because he hit too close to home, however, she is overconfident in her ability to have got rid of any trace of evidence that she doesn't bother to look in at what supposed evidence that he has, because why should she and Ruth have to bother with one conspiracy theorist? I release my evidence, which is interesting and makes some connections, but could just be brushed away with some or damage control.
