Well...Ed sounds like the kind of guy that would know other security guards. Maybe they all hang out at the same bar. So, he's sharing drinks with one of his friends, a security guard at the docks, tells him that he's got Friday night off and strange thing is, so do a lot of the other guys. Ed thinks this is hinky and figures he might want to check it out as Gunslinger.

That's a good idea. I'll do that this evening or tomorrow, whenever I have time.

You are missing the point, if they can go to the size of an atom, that means that their brain is smaller then an atom, which means that the brain is too small to hold information about persuasion, meaning that persuasion is useless. It is basic science!

So, since a lot of you are here right now, I'm throwing this out to the group. I'm really liking the Atom but he does seem a bit overpowered for the roster of heroes and villains we got. So, I'm thinking of adding a couple of weaknesses, namely, even in the Atom suit and no matter how small he is, he still can be affected by gas and sound attacks. Also, villains that have metabolic powers (mind control, ageing), they still work against him no matter his size.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Like I said, I'm throwing it out there for discussion.

Exactly, now you are getting it! At that level the Atom becomes nothing but a speck of primal rage and instinct, virtually making him immune to all sorts of attacks.

No!

My character's vast intellect is too large to make smaller thoughts, I am virtually ineffective against the Atom.

I was honestly just thinking about doing the standard kind of "they know each other from work" kind of thing but where's the fun in that am I right?

If you've got anything you want to have regarding their past put in then shoot some ideas and we'll figure it out.

Well, maybe, they had a relationship but he wanted to move to Bludhaven and she didn't and they broke up. And maybe since, apparently, this is the first time he's shown his face in forever, it's understandable that she might be a little icy to him?

Smallest you can get is the size of an ant? At least with just the suit? You can still get down to microscopic but only in the lab, for like a Fantastic Voyage mission. That okay with you, along with all the other weaknesses?

To be fair, when the cover for one of the comics is literally this, you can't really just "know each other from work" :p

I never said that. I just said that my character is too smart to make smaller thoughts to put into Atom's tiny brain.

Well then he can't be the Atom any more. He would basically become some kind of "Ant-man".
