Psychotic Dictatorship

Postby Strala » Thu Jun 07, 2018 7:56 pm

NS Nation Name: Strala
Character Name: Liu Bao Rui (刘宝瑞)
Gender: Male
Age: September 26, 1893
Position, role or job: Representative of the CCP
Character Photo: Image
Ethnicity: Han Chinese
Character Faction: I don't he would belong in any party
Main Strengths (three to five): self-confident, passionate, visionary, courageous, and charismatic
Main Flaws (three to five, same number as strengths): overconfident, reluctant to listen to others, sensitive to criticism, lack of empathy, and distaste for mentoring
Bio: Liu Bao Rui was born on September 26, 1893, in a village outside of Xuzhou. He was born to a formerly impoverished farmer that recently had become one of the richest farmers in the small village. His memory of his childhood was filled with his father beating him and the less successful farmers. When he turned 5 he started the primary school, and he quickly found out that he didn't like the classical Chinese texts that preached about Confucian morals, inside he enjoyed reading books more like Romance of the three kingdoms. When he finished primary school at the age of 13 he worked on his father's farm for 3 years. While working on his father's farm, Liu read voraciously and developed a "political consciousness" from Zheng Guanying's booklet which lamented the deterioration of Chinese power and argued for the adoption of representative democracy. Interested in history, Liu was inspired by the military prowess and nationalistic fervor of George Washington and Napoleon Bonaparte. His political views were shaped by Gelaohui-led protests which erupted following a famine in Hunanese capital Changsha; Liu supported the protesters' demands.

In 1907, Liu began middle school in Xuzhou and there he flourished as a student and a revolutionary. He was a supporter of Sun Yat-Sen and as a sign of mocking the Manchu Emperor he cut off his pigtail. Other than that nothing was out of the ordinary, but in 1911 when the Xinhai Revolution happened, he left Xuzhou to join the revolutionaries. He fought in the Battle of Changsa and during his time he saw the extreme poverty of nation and how the poor lived.

Over the next few years, Liu Bao Rui enrolled and dropped out of a police academy, a soap-production school, a law school, an economics school, and the government-run Changsha Middle School (He moved to Changsha after the Xinhai revolution. Studying independently, he spent much time in Changsha's library, reading core works of classical liberalism such as Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations and Montesquieu's The Spirit of the Laws, as well as the works of western scientists and philosophers such as Darwin, Mill, Rousseau, and Spencer. Viewing himself as an intellectual, years later he admitted that at this time he thought himself better than working people. He was inspired by Friedrich Paulsen, whose liberal emphasis on individualism led Liu to believe that strong individuals were not bound by moral codes but should strive for the greater good and that the "end justifies the means" conclusion of Consequentialism. During that time he also met with Mao Zedong. He quickly became friends with Mao and he joined him in the Students' Volunteer student army. He would develop a keen interest in military tactics and techniques of war. It was also at this time he began to develop a sense of solidarity with workers. Liu undertook feats of physical endurance with Mao Zedong, Xiao Zisheng, and Cai Hesen, and with other young revolutionaries, they formed the Renovation of the People Study Society in April 1918 to debate Chen Duxiu's ideas. he graduated in 1919 as second in the school.

Liu moved to Beijing with Mao and went to Peking University. It was there that he learned about the communism and the revolution that took place in Russia. He was quickly enthralled and quickly believed that Communism was China's only way of salvation. He developed this thought after remembering how easily the Chinese government gave in to Japanese demands in 1915. One difference that he knew was that Chinese communist couldn't hold the cities. They were not industrialized so rather gain the popular support they would have to find it in the rural areas. He was also one of the students that protested at the Gate of Heavenly peace. In the following years, he was a leader in student revolutions in Beijing. In 1921 he left Beijing to join Mao in Shanghai. He would become one of the first members of the CCP. In 1924 he left the nation to go the RSFR to learn from his Soviet Comrades. He was also to act as the Representative of the CCP.
Other Info: Liu would be considered a reactionary to the leftists.
