@Ceystile, btw, if Kendra is fully brainwashed, would you be willing to make her a villain?

She'll be rescued and redeemed, of course.

I was thinking she'd be used to lure various Cultists of Virtue to a trap of some sort outside Arghyo.

That sounds like something the Sins would do. I think she’d be pretty brainwashed but there’s a sliver of her that’s fighting but it’s been greatly weakened over these last six years.

Posted. I had already planned in advance for Saeria to be away for a bit but she can fly for a reason so she will return soon (and/or with how time works in this RP the current moment with Cecily and co. could be in the future and she is already returning).

Been a little overwhelmed by university as of late, but the plots I announced will still be launched soonish

And as before, if there are people who have characters without anything to do in the IC, please do tell me and we'll arrange something

We've kinda reached a level where I should once again keep track of what everyone's characters are doing, so if I was told about some characters before and I forgot/missed it, I'm sorry xD

Character Application

Name: Athyd Grimēnan
Age: 52
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Race: Formerly a Human with one-eighth Vorian descent, but now a Cursed Being following prolonged exposure to the dark mists in the realms of The Shadow.
Appearance:
Image

Height: 1.9 meters
Weight: 60 Kilograms

Position/Status/Affiliation: Formerly a powerful mage of the Empire of Achisia, and a key member of its many facilities that researched hidden secrets of magic and lore of old, Athyd spent much of his time before the war in the remote Tower of Almal near the Empire's eastern reaches, a place that acted as both the man's personal abode, a wizard's tower, and most importantly a sprawling underground research complex. Here, he fulfilled his pursuit of ever-more potent knowledge with much vigor under the name of the Empire, in time amassing a massive collection of ancient tomes on all topics from the arcane to the scientific. Staying loyal to his nation even after its complete corruption, he acted as one of the leaders of Achisia's wartime innovators in many types of magic. However, after the misfortune that he would face he in time was presumed dead halfway through the Great War. Still loyal to the country which he does not even realize to be destroyed, Athyd has lost any of the influence he once held, as he is thought to be long dead, while the fate of Almal is unclear.
Skills/Powers//Magic:
Corrupted Magic of the Shadow (Black Magic): The vast majority of the magic that Athyd was once able to use with ease has over time become twisted and unusual due to the impact of his time in the Shadow. Despite whatever he attempts the vast majority of spells that he chants are in a corrupted and unintelligible version of the language used in the Magic of the Oath, almost unrecognizable to those unfamiliar with the tongue. Because of this, his magic, though not harmful to its caster, can be much more chaotic than what most mages can use, with a more powerful but less stable shape and dark grey color reminiscent of the mists found in the Shadow. This magic is mainly used for offensive purposes when needed, as though less reliable it possesses an immense potential for destruction, capable of easily puncturing thick defensive walls with proper time and preparation.

Grey Lightning Magic (Black Magic): The mage's preferred form of offensive black magic, Athyd spent many years of his life studying, manipulating, and mastering the usage of lightning magic, which meant that it is one of the few spells that he possesses that remains mostly unchanged by the Shadow's influence. Though the lightning much like his other magic has an altered appearance, it still fundamentally functions like other greater lightning spells, capable of releasing deadly bolts of light-grey electricity with deadly precision.

Beast Corruption (Black Magic): While acting as a mage early in the Great War, Athyd shied away from the disgusting forms of necromancy that were often utilized, finding them to be unrefined and distasteful. Instead, as a way to improve the war effort, he began work on a form of dark magic used to forcibly take control of animals, something that was planned to be used as a means for reconnaissance and espionage, but was eventually abandoned by Achisia following Grimēnan's failed expedition. Athyd is still able to use this ability, though it has its limits. With it, Athyd is able to "corrupt" up to two lesser beasts no greater than a large wolf or boar in size, which he can control and gain information from remotely.

Scholarly Knowledge: Due to his immense dedication to the collection and advancement of knowledge, Athyd has become well versed in many fields, holding extensive knowledge over many different topics. However, this knowledge is limited to what he could find many years ago, and because of this some of what he is familiar with is either antiquated or now irrelevant.

Equipment:
- The Grey Robe of Almal, a grey mage's robes of unknown origin, it is enchanted to remain durable and repel even the worst of heat and cold. This robe was given to Athyd when he became the overseer of the Tower of Almal, something that was a minor tradition among the lords of the region.
- A metallic mage's staff in the shape of a hooded cobra, with a small emerald engraved into the base of its forehead. This emerald is enchanted to slowly absorb mana in the air and store a small reserve of mana to either strengthen spells or provide support to a mage for a short period. In its prime, the staff once shined like silver, but after so much time in the Shadow, it has become dull and darkened, its green gemstone scratched deeply.
- A set of traveling garb, worn but still useful.
- A tattered leather bag containing a small array of personal goods including a small pouch of gold, a journal left long-neglected, a thick tome of arcane knowledge, and other trinkets.

Due to his time wandering through the Shadow, only equipment enchanted or specially made to last for long periods remain in decent condition, with almost everything else being torn into tatters or discarded entirely.

Personality: For most of his life, Athyd Grimēnan was a man who solely focused on the pursuit of knowledge of all kinds, and his personality and mannerisms reflect this, even after his time in the Shadow. Athyd is a man who at all times at least attempts to be cold, clinical, and precise, always being stoic and rarely showing a sign of charity unless doing so somehow fulfills his hunger for knowledge. In most situations, he acts detached, as if only an observer to what he experiences rather than an active participant, a trait he believes distinguishes a merely competent mage from a truly great one. Though never outright malicious, he was a person first and foremost dedicated to his role as a mage of the Empire of Achisia. These less than favorable traits have only become more apparent after his time in the lands of the Shadow, which along with his abilities and body also affected his mind. The mage's fascination and hunger for knowledge has become even worse, developing into a type of obsession. Meanwhile, the man's cool composure has also begun to break, as he soon grows impatient and lashes out when fighting. Though never outright aggressive, and under most circumstances willing to peacefully cooperate he does not care for anything that may stand in his way as he attempts to expand his knowledge, whether they be laws, moral codes, or the lives of people.
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Biography:
Born in the small Achisian city of Arxa as the unwanted child of a minor baron and his quarter-Vorian mistress, Athyd Grimēnan was not one often shown affection. Seen as an embarrassment to his father, the boy would spend much of his early childhood kept away from others and trapped within the confines of his parent's most remote mansion. However, where some children would become dejected or turn to misbehavior the young Athyd instead found comfort in the written word, learning how to read and write at an early age and spending many hours of his childhood in his father's library. This sparked a fascination with learning and gaining evermore knowledge, a trait that would drive him for the rest of his life. While satisfying his hunger for knowledge, Athyd would eventually encounter tomes containing arcane knowledge at the age of 16, where he soon proved himself to be talented in the use of magic, something that would at last grant him the attention of others. He would study all that he could find about magic in all of both Arxa and it's surrounding territories in the Empire, before taking whatever wealth and few possessions he possessed to travel and become a mage.

Athyd would spend some time wandering across the lands of Achisia and its neighboring kingdoms, becoming well acquainted with Black Magic and gaining a reputation as a brilliant mage well-versed in all matters of arcane knowledge. Four years after the beginning of his travels, he would be ordered by Achisian officials to become one of many mages at the time to act as researchers and keepers of knowledge for the Empire's military, where he would gradually rise into a position of prominence. In time he would gain his final position as the researcher overseer of the Tower of Almal, an infamous tower hidden amongst the great hills and ravines near the Empire's eastern border, a remote facility focusing on matters of magic. For a time his name would become much spoken of among those in power in Achisia, as he proved himself to be useful to the Mage-Emperor through the collection of much knowledge and the development of various types of magic. Remaining loyal to the Mage-Emperor even after the corruption of his nation into evil and the violence of the Great War, Athyd and his tower became a major center of technological progress for the war effort, and with this the mage's dominance and power grew as well, eventually leading to his moniker of "The Grey Archmage'' among his subordinates and those who witnessed his ability in any of the rare battles that he took part in. All seemed well for Athyd, however, this was not to last.

About three years into the Great War, Athyd was assigned a mission by the Mage-Emperor himself: he was to organize an expedition that would cross over the sea to the World of Shadow, where in the name of Achisia he would explore the land and find a way to weaponize whatever lied there. Without a moment of hesitation the mage did just this, and within two months' time set forth with a force of six ships of his most trusted personnel and equipment to do as he was commanded. However, fate would have other plans stored for this expedition. As the shores of the Land of Shadow entered sight a terrible storm ravaged the sea, and all of the ships and what they held were brought to Gurgia's depths. Athyd was one of the few who survived the disaster, soon finding himself stranded on the black beaches of the World of Shadow with only pieces of wreckage and supplies surrounding him. Salvaging whatever supplies and equipment he could find, and believing that there was no other choice, the man entered the Shadow, not knowing how long he would remain there.

As Athyd wandered through the dark mists of the Land of Shadow he soon lost all perception of time. As it was impossible to distinguish between night and day hours blurred into days, which became blurred into months, which in time became indistinguishable with years. As he stumbled through the darkness something was ever so slowly twisted within the man. It was almost as if his time within the dark fog had somehow ever so slowly tampered with a fundamental part of his being. At first, it was only subtle changes, the time between sleep and eating whatever remaining rations there were growing slightly longer, the complexion of his skin growing paler and paler without any sunlight. In his mind, what was once his passion became his obsession, his love of knowledge becoming an insatiable greed for it, while in his appearance, though he did not yet know it, there was some unnatural quality just beyond description. His abilities too became warped, though he could not discover this due to the strange lack of magic in those lands. By the end of many years, Athyd had lost a core part of his humanity and has become some strange type of cursed being. Now, he unknowingly approaches the edges of the World of Shadow, an event so rarely seen through the history of Lonriel that it can be counted on a single hand. His time lost there is about to end.

Goals: Discover the fate of Achisia, recover any documents that remain from the Tower of Almal, and most importantly further his own knowledge through any means necessary.
Theme Song: We can't have a fantasy theme without some Hurdy Gurdy, now can we?

RP Sample: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=489904
Did you read the Rules?: Yes
Miscellaneous: Athyd has become a unique type of cursed being unlike any seen elsewhere. The impact of the Shadow on his body has greatly lengthened the time between when he needs to eat and sleep, with him being able to live for many months or even years without food or water. Meanwhile, his appearance has also aged much more slowly than normal, as he has the same facial features as he did the day he entered the dark fog, albeit with prematurely greyed hair and a strange light in his eyes.

What happens when one combines the Baltic States, interstellar technology, vast amounts of wealth, and moderate Social Democratic policies?

It’s certainly possible that they have spoken on occasion, however I doubt that they would hold a positive image of the other because of the different reasoning behind their scholarly habits (Alexios wishing to improve humanity while Athyd is solely driven by a much more selfish personal desire)

Character Application

Name: Jean Courvoisier, The Vigilante Knight
Age: 33
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Race: Human
Appearance:The high ground 6 feet 1 inches/185.42 cm, 171 lbs/77.56 kg

Position/Status/Affiliation: Jean belongs to the noble House of Courvoisier and has his loyalty to the Kingdom of Duivene. He is also a partner of the Wyzkia based private investigation and bounty hunting firm, Rogalski and Associates
Skills/Powers//Magic: As a trained knight, he has experience with horse-riding and melee combat. As a born caster, he can perform telekinesis and strengthening and healing magecraft. Wielding a holy sword, he can unlock its true potential through a chant that could potentially take out armies with a swing; however it's not something he had ever done due to the amount of mana such a feat would consume; having utilized only a fraction of its powers from time to time. He's also an excellent cook.
Equipment:
*Holy Sword Gloria
*Silver dagger
*Steel plate armor
*Brown cloak

Personality: Despite his large stature and his serious, conservative look; Jean is easily a friendly and patient man once he's approached. It takes a lot for him to be angry. He has his moments of snarky quips and sarcastic attitudes but otherwise, he's someone who could make children smile and adults to feel safe around.
Moral Alignment: Lawful good
Biography: Jean was born as the only son in the House of Courvoisier, a distinguished noble family in Duivene. At a young age, he found out of his hidden magical abilities, something not seen in the family for generations, and although he was already training as a squire, it was decided that the boy was to receive magical training as well. It was then when Jean fell under the tutelage of a mage named Valentin, who taught him in the common discipline of the Magic of the Oath, specifically in White Magic. Valentin also encouraged Jean to be a knight who did not fight for glory and riches but for justice and happiness, telling stories of legendary wandering knights of the old.

Once Jean reached adulthood and was officially recognized as a knight, his father gifted him the Holy Sword Gloria, a family sword that could only be used by someone with magical abilities. It was planned for him to be wed to Lady Rose of the noble House of Trémaux. The two would eventually grow in love despite its arranged origin and moved outside of the Courvoisier estate to purchase a humble cottage. They even hired a farmhand who showed up one morning, offering to help with chores. Life was simple and peaceful for Jean, his farm was doing well, the area was safe outside of an occasional beast looking for a free meal from his cattle, and his wife was pregnant. This had lead to Jean lowering his guard for a bit, enjoying the life as it was.

Unfortunately, the peaceful life was never meant to be. The farmhand who was ever so helpful with the chores clubbed Jean and knocked him unconscious. The farmhand would then have his way with Jean's wife and stabbed her five times, killing the unborn baby in the process. Before fleeing, the farmhand slaughtered the couple's livestock and burned down the cottage. Jean was only able to wake up in time due to intervention by the human form of the sword Gloria awakened by the trauma and carry his wife's body outside of the house and desperately attempted to heal Rose before collapsing due to his weakened state. A couple of passing knights found Jean lying outside of the burning house and brought him and his wife to a local doctor. Jean was able to recover but his wife passed away, already severely wounded by the ordeal.

A funeral was held for Rose Trémaux. Jean's father, Lord Baudouin Corvoisier declared a manhunt for the farmhand but the sadistic killer eluded authorities outside of his description of a large black haired man. Jean decided to hunt down the killer himself, vowing to avenge his wife and welcome any death coming to him afterwards, even if it means traveling the known world. Although his family initially did not react well to Jean's announcement of traveling the world, they eventually accepted his decision after much deliberation. He left with the sword Gloria after making a promise in front of his wife's tombstone.

Tracking down the killer soon turned into performing charitable deeds as the search went nowhere. He traveled across the country, even crossing state borders. During a trip to Wyzkia, he found a young man named Stefen struggling to defend himself against some brigands. Jean and Gloria were able to defeat the brigands and healed the cuts and bruises on Stefen. Feeling sorry for the young man, Jean taught him various fighting techniques so the man could better defend himself. Stefen asked Jean and Gloria if he could travel with the knight and Jean allowed it, seeing benefits for a young man to experience the world with the protection from a knight. Eventually, Stefen grew to be a capable fighter on his own and the two became fast friends, working together to perform good deeds for villages and individuals. The two parted ways on amicable terms with Stefen using his skills to provide service as a bounty hunter and Jean continuing to be a wandering knight. Eventually, Jean would move to Wyzkia to work as a partner in Stefen's bounty hunting firm, sensing some purpose in helping private citizens with their own troubles.

Goals: Avenging his wife and unborn child

Relic App

Names: Gloria, the Sword of Holy Victory
Type: Holy
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bi
Race: Human
Form as an object: Sword form
Form as a being: Human form 171 cm / 5 feet 7 inches; 57 kg / 125.66 lbs

Position/Status/Affiliation: The primary sword of Jean Courvoisier, a wandering knight of Duivene.
Skills/Powers//Magic: Her blade form has nine seals that the user can unlock through each verse in a chant. Each seal is comparable to the level of her power, and the mana required to use it; the first seal requires the least amount of mana to unlock and the final ninth seal having the most amount of power but requiring a heavy use of mana that would leave her user in a weakened state and her in hibernation mode for weeks. Considering that she was a relic likely created to be a god-killer or an army destroyer by ancient emperors and kings, perhaps this was an insurance policy. Even without using a verse to unlock a seal, her basic sword form is still sharp and holy enough to do considerable damage to any and all.

Her human form allows her to be in peak human condition, having the agility and strength to engage even heavily armored men in close quarters combat. Of course, she prefers going to battle by manifesting a sword and armor which is an ability she could do but requires mana. Mana is saved whenever Jean throws her a silver dagger for her to use; manifesting an armor is good enough for her.

Personality: Having lived as a weapon more than as a human (by about hundreds, maybe thousands of years) and having forgotten about her human past, she holds a pragmatic, utilitarian version of the world. Her goal is to serve her master, nothing more and nothing less, she couldn't care less about human emotion. This was the truth for her prior masters in the Courvoisier family. However, spending time with her new master's idealistic view of the world, her cold, pragmatist shell has softened, allowing her to recognize the beauty of the world over time. Although she still expressed a pragmatic outlook befitting of a walking weapon, her humanity has returned in small ways, allowing her to show some genuine human emotions.
Moral Alignment: Lawful good
History: The House of Courvoisier has two swords symbolizing the union of two families in the distant past; Bravoure and Gloria. Bravoure was commonly used as the sword of the family lord in each generation; made with gold and silver to make it a potent weapon against demonic threats. It was the sword associated with the House of Courvoisier. In contrast, Gloria was hardly used; its magical and holy properties made it a weapon only able to be weld by the mage side of the family as the sword was a relic, an ancestral sword of the dying Beaumanoir family of mages.

In early history, the House of Courvoisier had many potent mages as it was the union between Lord Valéry of the non-mage Courvoisier family and Lady Thérèse, the last of the Beaumanoir family of mages. Gloria had served many mages in the Courvoisiers family for centuries, her last master was Porthos, a pragmatist mage who sees the world from cold hard logic. However, the magic gene was recessive and over time, non-magical Courvoisiers outnumbered the magical members of the family overwhelmingly. The Courvoisiers had tried to alleviate this by marrying off sons to families that have magical blood early in the history. Today, the Courvoisiers stopped considering magic blood to be of any importance and thus, it's been generations since Gloria was ever weld by a mage in the family, her fate for a while been relegated to being a sword in a case of the Lord's living room, something for visitors to marvel at but could not wield.

It was just a coincidence that Jean's father, Lord Baudouin was married to Lady Paola of the House of Affré (also a family with recessive magical genes) and gave birth to two healthy sons and one healthy daughter. It was also a chance that Jean was found to have magical properties compared to his older siblings who do not have such properties. Thus, Gloria no longer collected dust in the manor and was given to Jean once he reached the age of adulthood according to tradition.

Gloria has worked with her master ever since he left his estate to be a wandering knight. While she disagreed with her master's ways with what she sees as reckless behaviors trying to save everything and everyone, she found her master's views to be refreshing from the many casters whom she faithfully served, those who see the world as either a laboratory or a giant book of statistics. She came to enjoy the humanity of her current master, it's just up to her to make sure that Jean's behaviors and views wouldn't prevent him from saving himself before he could save others.
Goals: Her goal is to protect her master; this has always been the case for centuries and nothing has changed.
Theme Song: No

Did you read the Rules?: I have nothing to declare, statist
Miscellaneous: The Burger King is one of the noblest of kings as he serves his people with food.

The app looks pretty well, and I love the concept!

Parts of the still unpublished lore contain a magical organization, the Shade's Hosts, that caused chaos throughout the Silver Realms in what is considered to be the first part of the War of the Seven Realms, and this group was organized and supported by the Mage Emperor in secret. Athyd's concept fits very well in that it would make sense for the Mage-Emperor to further want to explore the Shadow, because the Shade's Hosts used a magical mist that acted somewhat like a much weaker and artificial Shadow, inducing corruption and madness in its users.

The app is of course accepted - all I have to mention is that upon leaving the Shadow, his memories of the time spent there would start to quickly degrade, and if there would have been anything he had seen there (sometimes sailors do report seeing vague silhouettes of towers within the Shadow as an example, he would forget it upon leaving.

Chronologically there have three years since the end of the war, and he could have been sent there at any moment during the war, so you can add anything between one and nine years to that time. But time in the Shadow seems to pass differently, so how time felt to him is up to you.

If people always forget what they see in the Shadow, then how do those sailors remember seeing towers? :p

A little bird told me, "Go, Go! Socialise! Talk to those fine people! And then, KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM! Plunge your knife into their throats when they ain't lookin', and then burn 'em to the ground!"
Well that's silly, isn't it?
