Position/Status/Affiliation: Royal Bard of Arghyo, Adventurer
Skills/Powers//Magic: White Magic: The Sound of MusicShe casts spells through playing her instruments instead of incantations, each chord can produce a spell-like effect. More often this is used to animate and control inanimate objects such as golems or produce elemental effects.
Siren’s Song: Her voice has an enchanting effect when she sings, although she can turn this on and off. Inherited from her mermaid mother. It’s hypnotic in a sense, although she can’t do mind control or anything like that, it DOES make the listener more open to suggestion...there’s about a seventy percent chance that they’ll listen to her suggestions.
Dancing Master: She’s learned swordplay from her father, and can use a rapier fairly well.
Vicious Mockery: (what’s a bard WITHOUT vicious mockery?!): You insult somebody so hard that they get psychic damage, pretty much.
Hydrokinesis: Can manipulate water.
Equipment: She carries an enchanted theorbo (a kind of big lute thing) that can turn into any musical instrument she desires, so long as that instrument is small enough to be carried. She also carries her rapier and a backpack full of assorted items (sheet music, ink, journal, jewelry, food, water, random shit she thought looked cool, stuff like that).
Personality: She’s the big sister friend that encourages you to do shit that you really shouldn’t be doing and will help you clean up the mess afterwards, friendly and mischievous in nature. However, she is short-tempered and does have a bit of an aggression problem due to emotional abuse she endured during her childhood. She also has a HUGE tendency to be almost comedically dramatic, she’s fun to be around that’s for sure.
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Good
Biography: Gryffin Telephassa Archangel was born to human adventurer and minor noble Wolfgang Archangel (the family was originally from Anselm, and their surname was D’Arkhangelsk. They translated it when they settled in Arghyo) and Ligeia, a mermaid. Now the Mer aren’t the type to marry and fall madly in love with humans, usually they attempt to drown them. But as Wolfgang and his party were camping out by Anselm’s shores while tracking quarry, Ligeia came to him and thought he was quite the handsome specimen. So she thought, why not have a little fun with him first before eating him, and that’s exactly what happened. Except Wolfgang had managed to escape before being eaten, because by the grace of the gods he was pulled away by one of his companions after his screams were heard (they sent in the deaf one while the rest fell back). They went on to complete the job, and things continued as normal until Wolfgang found a child on his manor’s doorstep one night. He was confused, until he recalled his encounter with the mermaid...and besides, the baby did have his eyes. Apparently even the Mamuna couldn’t bring herself to eat her own child, and so she was raised by her father.
Gryffin didn’t have the typical childhood for a noble girl, her father liked moving around a lot when he wasn’t serving the Princesses or overseeing his estate, and so she often went with him. Being half-siren she was born with a naturally beautiful voice, but she discovered a real talent and passion for music quite early on. Her childhood was a pretty happy one, except for one problem...Wolfgang’s father, Titus Archangel. He was a cruel man and a human supremacist who despised anything different, and so often mistreated his young granddaughter when out of sight of her father. It was never anything physical, but verbal abuse often take a psychological toll especially at that age. Wolfgang noticed his daughter becoming more withdrawn and depressed, and when questioned she finally told him why. Furious, Wolfgang got into a confrontation with Titus who threatened to disown him, until Wolfgang pointed out that he was his only heir. So after that, father and daughter spent as much time away from the estate as possible and more time at the palace, where Gryffin’s musical skills caught the attention of the nobles and royals. At nineteen she was made the court’s royal bard, and that’s where she’s been ever since (when not traveling and performing elsewhere)
