I'm guessing your internet's just having trouble loading it. Waiting a bit for it to load might help. Depends what your internet's like, I suppose (I know when my connection's been slow in the past, rather than load images, it can just give up/time out).

The Cross and Davids Star wrote:Name: Kara Stevens

  • Alright, the first thing is partially the fault of my own poor explanation of how magic works. The main practical difference between Ancient Magic and the Magic of the Oath is in how spells are cast. Ancient Magic is the free and wild form of magic, and mages wielding use cast spells through their thoughts. That's why it's a bit difficult to control for humans, since you need to be able to control your mind and your thoughts very well, and magic itself in this state is more difficult to control, but it's also more powerful. There are some things which could help an ancient magic wielder - and singing without words or playing an instrument might play a role. The actual spell would still be cast inside the mage's mind, but the music could be used to help the mage focus on what he wants to achieve through the spell. You could associate specific spells to music.
The issue is with the words. You can not use words to command ancient magic - the magic won't obey. The Magic of the Oath is the one that binds and forces magic to obey through the use of words, spells, and chants that are all said out loud. Oath's Magic is then a lot more precise, but a bit slower to cast and a bit less powerful. Most humans use it though, since Ancient Magic can be deadly if used by someone who's not experienced - a stray thought could divert a spell very easily. The Oath's Magic on the other hand does exactly what you tell it to do. Music could be used for it too - and it is, most mages tend to chant their spells - it makes them easier to remember and to cast, but other musical styles could work.
So you should decide what type of magic she should use by herself, as it will affect how she actually uses her spells. I'd personally her using Magic of the Oath by herself - since she's human. She could be able to use Ancient Magic through the relic, by playing it.
  • As for her history.. her being sent to the Yazgirian Host could work, but you should keep some things in mind. The Yazgirians are like.. hmm. Mongols, Tatars, Dorthraki, and Amazons all mixed in one. They are nomadic raiders, often cruel and violent, but they have their own specific culture and faith, which is still a bit of a work in progress, and most importantly, they are a matriarchy, with women being in lead and all the members of a horde being organized in specific castes.
She could have maybe been sent there if her father had somehow earned the friendship of a horde's leader or something along those lines, but living in Yazgiria is far from easy, so that would have affected her development.
The Cross and Davids Star wrote: Names: The relic itself is known as Harmonic Chaos, though Kara has given the name ‘Synesthesia’ to the entity that inhabits it.

  • As for the relic.. I still think that you should come up with a few specific powers for it. As of right now, she seems to be not much more than a tool, taking Kara's mana and making spells with it, which would a basic ability of relics in general. Relics are very powerful weapons, and even if humans are too weak to use all of them, Synthesia could have a few more powers.
Let's take my own relic as an example - Krypta is a cursed relic that normally appears in the form of a scythe or in the form of a black haired and red eyed girl, and she's currently wielded by the Archbishop of Envy, Celio. Celio can channel his spells through her, using ancient magic through her at the expense of mana, especially necromancy related spells - these are Krypta's specialty. But at the same time, Krypta has some powers of her own. She can passively absorb mana from blood, so by a cutting an enemy with her blade, Celio wins more mana. She can use and manipulate shadow and fire magic without Celio controlling her, she can absorb souls if she kills someone, and she has some powerful offensive abilities that she can use by changing her form.
Now, it's clear that Synthesia would be different - she is a Holy Relic so she'd have an affinity for white magic, and if you don't want her to change her form then that clearly limits what she can do. But you could at the very least try to come up with some powers, it would be a bit of a waste to have a relic and to limit it like that.

For the magic part with Kara, that's what I was kind of leaning towards when she is without her relic, using her songs and keywords to use limited Order magic, since she doesn't know all that much about it, where with it she can focus on the song itself as the relic turns it into a spell. For her location in the Yazigirian Host, her father and her would have been traveling similarly to the nomadic tribes but trying to stay ahead of them when possible or be kept out of the way, with her father hiding her while he worked, then returning and moving again. For the relic, I can add on a few powers that make her less than a tool and more of a companion, which is more or less what I want her to be. One thing I could add (if it isn't too OP) is that Synesthesia can temporarily take control of Kara's body if she is in a critical state to save her life, but at the expense of a rest period where she becomes inactive afterwards.

Character Application

Name: Solomon de Velira
Age: 22
Gender:Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Race: Human
Appearance: (Image)
6'0 ft tall

Position/Status/Affiliation:Former noble from the Empire of Achisia, member of the Achisia Restoration Society
Skills/Powers//Magic:
  • Great-Grandson of Augustine de Velira: Being the great-grandson of General Augustine de Velira he was raised learning how to fight with the sword under his expert tutelage and thus he is very skilled with the sword achieving near mastery at a young age, he also acquired an understanding of battlefield tactics and has experience as a field officer.
  • Veteran of the War of the Seven Nations - Achisia: Serving in the Achisian Army under his great-grandfather and as one of their knights means he can back up his sword training with actual experience and he knows what it is like to fight when pushed into a corner.
  • White Magic - Barrier Creation: Not much to say, he can use his magic to create barriers around himself and others and he can further shape those barriers into different objects.
  • White Magic - Healing: He is very skilled at using healing magic and has practice from using said magic during the war. To be perfectly honest at times it is closer to regeneration magic instead of healing magic thanks to his talent with it.
Equipment: A sword given to him by his great-grandfather a set of armor with Achisia's symbols on them.

Personality: Despite him being a son of the Empire and his oath of loyalty to the Emperor back when he lived Solomon is a generous and magnanimous man. Polite and cunning, a patriot to his homeland. He is what could be called a good and honorable man and someone who would be more distinguished country gentry over someone who plays games at court. He possesses a deep love for his family and will always have that. Overall the perfect gentleman and noble, a patriot and a warrior. Someone that would not have been expected to be found in his fallen homeland. When in battle though he is a tough fighter, stubborn and determined, but also casual at times. When he gets serious though he can keep up with the best of them as shown by all he has managed to survive by stubbornness alone.
Moral Alignment: Lawful Good
Biography: Certainly the Empire was evil, anyone who fought for the Empire and does not acknowledge that is deluding themselves, but that does not mean it can't be reformed, that it can't be resurrected into a force of good and contribute good to our dark world. I have faith in Achisia.
Growing up in a time of war, for the war started while he was in his mother’s womb, he grew up expecting to enter it as a knight for Achisia and was raised as such. The normal lessons of court and politics were set aside for this young scion, most of his education being taken over by his great-grandfather and elder brother Ezekiel. For it was a time of war so such things needed to be set aside for, General de Velira feared, the war was going to be one that consumed more than one generation.

Grandfather is a good and just man, a light in our lives, I believe with him at the helm good can be achieved in our fallen homeland
He was always looking forward to being old enough to join Augustine as a soldier under his command. He idealized and romanticized the idea of war, of honor, of champions meeting each other in single combat, and of war to be a trial between the strength and determination of two peoples.

The war itself, the losses he beheld, and the darkness in it shattered those feelings but he still fought on for his homeland as the fight turned into one on Achisia's soil believing until the very end that they can win this and redeem Achisia.

He was in the capital of Achisia the day the Emperor died, fighting long and hard to try to protect the Emperor and indeed being left for dead by the Princess Alexis when he and all the knights that weren’t fighting elsewhere tried to prevent the Knights of Light from entering the palace and they were wiped out to a man. Even he admits if it wasn’t for his talent in healing magic he would have died several times over during the battle for the capital.

My sister does not understand, autocratic rule like the old days can't be recreated, if Achisia is to rise again it cannot be as it was in the past. Those days are long gone. A new Achisia must be formed from the ashes of the old, but a stronger and better one. That is the duty of us surviving nobles… But first I have a promise to fulfill and we have a war to win.

After the end of the war Solomon’s personality took something of a change, he had long realized his homeland was corrupt, that his Emperor had fallen, and that something new would have to be done for Achisia to regain her honor. That is why he advocates for a new Achisia, one free of the crimes of the past. One shaped to the ideals they had hoped the Emperor would embody, a return to the days the land was blessed by the light. However that doesn’t seem to be the main thing driving him since, as he notes, everything he ever knew is gone and thus something else pushes him, a promise.

These days he frequently clashes with his elder sister on what should be done come the next war, as he has so far absolutely refused to go along with the more… dark methods practiced in Achisia for victory. He heads up security for the de Velira estate and ensures the guards are properly drilled.
Goals: The redemption of Achisia, the fulfillment of his oath.

Character Application

Name: Silvia de Velira
Age: 18 (assumed, she isn't completely sure)
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Race: Human
Appearance:1
2
5'7 ft tall

Position/Status/Affiliation: Adoptive daughter of General Augustine de Velira (so technically Solomon and Illania's great-aunt despite being younger than them), member of the Achisian Restoration Society.
Skills/Powers//Magic:
  • Former Street Urchin: Her experience with living on the streets and stealing to survive means she has a talent for sneaking around or blending in while being quick on her feet.
  • Adoptive Daughter of General Augustine de Velira: As Augustine de Velira's adoptive daughter that he raised as his own she has some knowledge of military affairs and tactics as well as being passable when it comes to sword combat.
  • The General's Assassin: Where she shined during the war though was the art of spying and assassination, relying on what she learned as a child and honing it with other servants of the Emperor, all in the service of her father.
  • Imperial Assassin: Received training as an assassin back during the war and, while she isn't a master by any means, she is talented at it and had the war lasted longer she would have risen far by most estimates.
  • Veteran of the War of the Seven Nations - Achisia: While not seeing combat as much as her niece and nephew she knows her way around a battlefield and knows how to survive one.
Equipment:
  • Various mementos from her father
  • Various knives, poisons, and other equipment for her work
  • A shortsword
  • Some sets of plain clothes
  • Leather armor
  • A small pouch of candy

Personality: She is absolutely and fanatically loyal to her adoptive father, to such an extent Illania states that she almost worships the ground he walks on. She is ruthless in fighting her father's enemies and dealing with threats to him. Beyond that she is a polite enough girl and does have a nice streak, especially to orphans. She hides her rather low self-esteem due to not being of noble blood unlike her father from others (which feeds into her complex about being adopted and not being her father's actual daughter) and that means she doesn't know all of the complexities of being a noble and it shows in her dealings with other nobles. She can pass for a noble to most of society but not to someone completely raised in nobility. But she has gotten good at pretending so she can at least trick them for sometime.
Moral Alignment: Doesn't have a true alignment, all things considered, she has no conscience, Augustine de Velira is her conscience.
Biography:
Father saved me from the streets. He saw a poor orphan girl, a small child, trying to survive and took her in out of the kindness of his heart. I owe him everything.
Silvia de Velira, the adoptive daughter of the great General Augustine de Velira. A girl who has no memories of her life before the streets, not even a name, her name being given to her by Augustine when he took her in 13 years ago. He would later say "I saw potential in her and something drew me to that girl in a way." He soon adopted her giving her his family's name and was actually happy to have a young daughter again, especially seeing as, by that point, his wife and all his children were dead, consumed by the war or by illness. He taught her how to act and behave like a noble and raised her himself. When he returned to the war she accompanied him into the field and that was where she got her first kill when she killed an assassin who was there to claim her father's head, trying to stop the famed general from lending his brilliance any further to the war.

I do not have the genius of you, Father, nor the brilliance of the sword and charisma and tenacity that Solomon has, nor the skills of Illania when it comes to magic. So I do what I know to do to help you with your goals.

While her father (mostly) disapproves she takes upon herself the more seedy work of being an assassin and spy, offing her father's enemies as she deems needed. She does it out of obligation to him and because of a desire to be of use to him in the ways she knows how. This practice dates back to when she was 13 with her first assassination of an enemy officer when she snuck into the opposing camp and delivered the local commander's head to her father's desk when he was in a strategy meeting. Augustine was not truly happy with this development as it went against the concept of honorable war that he had tried to drill into his family but he admitted that he needed every tool he could get as he knew he was fighting a losing war so he had to make use of her talents and that he supported her receiving training from the Emperor's other assassins.

These days she accompanies her father on most trips and such that people who don't know she is his daughter at first think she is an attendant to the old general which just annoys her but also reminds her that there is no way for outsiders to tell, she isn't his real daughter after all. Otherwise she just spends her time reading in the estate and ensuring it is clean.

Goals: Ensuring her father's goals come to pass, maintaining this home she found.

If you don't I will stick with my theory of the clash between the Emperor and the Heroes destroying the concept of time itself so some of our characters live in a reality with the war starting 10 years ago instead of 20. :P

Well it is mentioned that relics can take over their master's mind if they are too weak willed so it isn't impossible for there to be something like that even if she has a relatively strong will, if she is in a critical state likely it would mean that her will wouldn't be too resistant to possession so it would overall be possible. Just my two cents anyway.

Sorry for my silence, I had a school competition in another city, a lot of complicated things happened, and I also had to be a CO-OP in a nation roleplay, and it seems that my eternal curse is still following me - that of having to be the one to take charge when the actual OP is busy with real life, oh well. This is like the sixth time it has happened.

Anyway, I will do my best to start taking care of things here too. Today is Orthodox Good Friday and everything, so I might not be truly free until on Monday, but I will do my best to have a post out before then. And to also take care of reviewing apps and stuff.
I'm a Romanian, a vampire, an anime enthusiast and a roleplayer.

Yes I have gone completely insane. I blame continual contact with Charlia.

Character Application

Name: Nerine “Ney” de Marlon
Age: 29
Gender:Female
Sexual Orientation: SLAUGHTERBLOODDEATH!
Race:Human
Appearance:Image

Position/Status/Affiliation: One of the Bearers of the Eternal Flame of Achisia, a noblewoman of Achisia, head of the mostly dead House de Marlon (by default)
Skills/Powers//Magic: Suffice to say, as befitting a someone that is frequently confused for a berserker cultist of wrath she has a lot of magic of the offensive kind, such as using fire magic to great effect (another thing that gets her confused for a cultist of wrath), she also knows ice and earth black magic and uses both as needed but primarily she uses enhancement magic of the kind to strengthen her blows, not like it is needed much given her almost supernatural strength, and speed, relying on her own strength, enhanced by the Eternal Flame that she carries and her own magic, to stand against most foes. Like Solomon she also has the power of magical barrier creation but she hasn't been seen using it much since the end of the war. Beyond that she is a skilled combatant with most weapons, preferring heavier weapons, and generally uses a shield well but hasn't used it as much these days.
Equipment: A giant battle axe, plate armor denoting her status as one of the Bearers (including having a still burning piece of the Eternal Flame in it), and a giant shield. (for the armor and shield's appearance look at her image)

Personality: Basically this.

Okay in seriousness yes she is insane and kills a lot, taking an unnatural glee in the act of slaughter, killing with a smile on her face. She doesn’t often express rage in her slaughters, often implying that she keeps it under the surface or simply that her wrath is something that is slowly built up. She is a maniac, indulging in blood and death on a large scale, so much so that if one got close to her they could smell the iron, however she has her quiet moments and it is at their own peril should anyone underestimate her because of what she seems to be, she, is at times, able to display surprising patience and cunning as she waits for the right time. But when she kills there is no mercy in her. Her motives that drive her is unknown to all. However she expresses a closeness to the surviving de Veliras and is very protective of them.

Moral Alignment: Insane
Biography:Born into the nobility of Achisia she was a childhood friend of the now deceased Ezekiel de Velira and something of a sister to Illania de Velira and Solomon de Velira, instead of just childhood friends thanks to her older age, and why she is lovingly referred to as Ney by the de Velira siblings as it is a nickname only they referred to her with. Much like Ezekiel and Solomon she entered the war at a young age, as did her own elder brothers, and was stricken by grief when the Ezekiel fell in battle like his siblings were, and like them taking to the field while wearing black to show their mourning. Later in the war she was proclaimed as one of the Bearers of the Eternal Flame, one of those commanded by the Emperor to bear the Flame into war against the so called Knights of Light for Achisia.

We bear the light of Achisia that comes from the Eternal Flame against the false light our enemies carry within them. We all know their light is truly darkness, truly the shadows, pretending to be light and so the Eternal Flame shall banish it all away with its radiance - An unknown Bearer of the Eternal Flame to the Paladin Lidia during the war, said Bearer was killed in the following battle with the Paladin.

As a Bearer of the Eternal Flame she was described as a very taciturn woman, never indulging in battle taunts or speeches and fighting with a cold detachment, and acting as a strong vanguard, an unbreakable fortress against all while using a mace and heavy shield to great effect, if she decided to stand her ground and hold she would hold, earning her the nickname "Maiden of Steel" and was revered as a distant protector. However all of that is in the past given her current character. But before we get there it should be mentioned beyond various battles she participated in she was noted for leading the purge of her entire family after they were collectively found guilty of treason. Everyone in her family was put to the sword under her leadership with the children only being spared by the intervention of General Augustine de Velira who used practically all of his influence to spare them. House de Marlon is nearly completely dead but she didn't react or say much about it at the time besides "I did my duty." She started using a different mace from the one she used the entire war after the fact for reasons she never elaborated upon.

She was reported as killed in the capital, slain by the twin sister of Alexis at the entrance to the Palace, but her survival had been found out three weeks after the fall of the capital of Achisia where she butchered a village in Duivene in a fit of madness before disappearing from public sight, for a time anyway and she does not stay underground for long and every time she makes a reappearance another atrocity is added to her name.

She has been hunted for since the end of the war and has been declared dead no less than 6 times only to come back with another destroyed village and frequently she goes underground simply to divert the people hunting for her. Based off of the testimony of survivors of destroyed villages or troop garrisons she has been seen all over Fallen Achisia, the Ecclesiarchy, and Xerena and occasionally in Duivene killing hundreds but never being found by soldiers sent to those locations to hunt for her… if those soldiers came back at all and all nations has standing orders that she is to be killed on sight, especially in Duivene seeing as she has tried to attack the nation several times before being driven off, frequently retreating when she would hear that Alexis was en route to end her, to the consternation of the Princess. What has been said though is that she is completely insane, a stark raving mad berserker who butchers all before her while muttering oaths her victims will never understand or laughing in glee as the blood splatters her. The piece of the Eternal Flame in her armor is still burning with its light, continuing to remind all of the light of Achisia even if it is carried by an insane daughter of the nation into the slaughter and that light promises death to those who stand against her.

Goals: TO PAINT MY BLOOD MURDER BEDROOM!
Theme Song:Make sure you murder them seven times. Impossible you say? Heh… heh… eats whoever dares suggest that

Okay here...

A more normal theme

I actually have a completely different theme in mind but that will be for later.

RP Sample:MURDER!
Did you read the Rules?: BLOOD!

Breaking News! Chancellor Kasel has announced another foreign intervention in the country of Laraosi. This move has been echoed with some praise, but many are decrying the move as another "Capilean Folly." The Chancellor is scheduled to give a speech on the matter in the next few days.

Depends on the Lannister. They've got their couple of bad cubs but they mostly have my approval. Same can't be said for those Stark dogs or Targaryen snakes.

Granted though, those Baelishian Pinkies trump all others.
