I'll just assume I have enough time for a thirty-second response on both sides, then.

Yes, you can quote each other and debate to no end on any given question. As with RL presidential debates, nobody actually follows the rules.

Well, that's convenient!
I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.

I had some problems with this too. I think it's the equivalent of the interview question, "Tell us of a time where you displayed leadership in a unique way," or something like that.

I don't think the question is, "How did you help Republicans get elected," as I first thought.

Basically a pointed way of asking what qualifies you to be president.

We'll see how far we get in the debate; if not, we'll just merge them with the June 8 results.

The response I made was something that I felt would reflect Egilson's personality that I created for him. Feel free to take advantage of this vulnerability.

Well, I didn't expect him to go nuts over it, but sure. I personally would have tackled it differently, but I guess that works.

I won’t be able to post that much this weekend. So would it be alright if we could end the debate tonight?

Yes, I'll ask the last question after this one is finished (if there's any back-and-forth to be had) and then the results will be tonight.

I'm just wondering what you mean by 12 years of left-wing rule. I know that the President before Fischer was a Democrat and Fischer is an Independent. I'm just assuming Republicans view Fischer as Left-Wing and Democrats see him as Right-Wing.

Oh and just to let guys know. For Vice President's I assumed Fischer never actually won 270 in the Electoral College because of First Past the Post. Which means the Vice Presidency would be decided by Senate. Which, assuming O'Connor was unpopular, would probably be controlled by the Republicans in 2044. Then in 2048, the same thing happens but for whatever reason I thought Democrats would control Senate in 2048, which would lead to a Democratic Vice President.

That is an accurate assessment. Since it's the GOP debate, conservatives will consider Fischer to have been left-wing.

As for the vice presidency, Fischer challenged both O'Connor and the Republican in 2044. Then in 2048 he was the Democratic nominee, despite still being an independent. I think it's fair to expect he had a Republican VP in his first time and a Democrat in his second.

Good news for Egilson: Egilson is 26 delegates away from the nomination. North Dakota, a winner-take-all state, has 26 delegates.

Good news for Wright: North Dakota is between Minnesota — Wright's own home state — and Montana — which Wright won with 60% of the vote.

We're headed to Fargo!

Yeah, just imagining Guess having a Popcorn event, where the entire Democrat Party makes a ton of popcorn for primary night, lol.

Are you per chance in a campaign bus that has "GUESS 2052" written on the side?

I laughed so hard when I read this, that I then had to explain to the other person in the car with me why I was laughing so hard. Sadly though, no, I'm in a black car with no words written on it. I can only imagine the looks it would get though, seeing as how I'm not driving anywhere near Oklahoma.

On another note, for the Conventions, which one is going to go first Democratic or Republican? Also which cities will they be in?

A list of possible vps should be up soon. It’s not gonna be a shortlist, but I just sorta wanna see how some people react to it.

The GOP race is headed to the national convention. Here's how the conventions will work.

I will TG everyone who was involved in the roleplay previously to post here if they are interested in being a running mate. All presumptive or possible presidential nominees should consider who they would most like to see rejoin the RP as their running mate — not the same character, but the same player with a different character. Reach out to those people and get an idea for what character they might play.

For the conventions themselves, feel free to roleplay any speeches given at the convention, as well as any private interactions — with party officials, with potential running mates, with campaign staff, with delegates, etc.

The GOP nomination will effectively be determined by the unpledged delegates previously pledged to other candidates. Whitehorse has 43, Caulfield has 22, and Fox has 1. Those candidates can command their delegates to vote for a certain candidate. There are another 85 from states and territories that do not pledge delegates. They will vote randomly. Egilson needs 26 to win, while Wright needs 125. The ballots for the GOP convention will be cast [i.e., results posted] on June 13, at 8pm EST, on the Espernet channel #GOPconvention. They will be subsequently posted to the forum.

One last nugget — for those wondering, excluding other candidates throughout the primaries, Egilson won 52.14% of votes while Wright won 47.86% of votes. Egilson won 25 contests, while Wright won 28 contests.
