Friday are the caucuses, and tomorrow the debates begin, so feel free to roleplay your candidate and their team arriving at the debates and preparing for them. The Democratic debate will be in Des Moines and held throughout tomorrow; the GOP debate in Cedar Rapids and held throughout Thursday. At the same time as both OOCly, you can also RP your candidate or their surrogate's presence at the GOP Lincoln Dinner or the Democratic Harkin Dinner, respectively in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines.

What dates are the Primary and Debate on ICly? I know the dinners are on the 20th though.

Do you think Bob Dole and Ross Perott would still be around in this scenario?

Hey Vienna, could you add me to the roster? I just taught you might for forgotten given that you added someone who you accepted after me to the roster.

Hope this isn't too much but a list of IC dates for each primary and the debates would be a good idea.

I agree. The May dates don’t seem to match with the current campaign period, and I am getting the feeling the Iowa convention is in early February.

The opening for the Democratic debate has been posted. We'll play it by ear with time and if we need to push back the OOC date of the Caucses we can. Candidates will present in alphabetical order. After introductions, feel free to start interrupting each other.

Done, sorry about that.

Cainesland wrote:Do you think Bob Dole and Ross Perott would still be around in this scenario?

Tragically unlikely. Average lifespan will probably be around 90 years, but since they're around that age in 2018 they might not have gotten the chance to see their lives extended.

So... are we going to get a list of questions? Also, should the Republicans set up their debate themselves, or is it coming tomorrow?
I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.

Right now we're just introducing. However Brae hasn't been on since early yesterday.

Feel free to introduce (and later answer questions) in any order, actually.

I'm considering a different style of doing the debates — what would be y'all's thoughts on each of you TGing me basically a scorecard of what your candidate would focus on in the debate, with some quotes you know your candidate would say, and then me using a calculator to write up a news article covering how the debate went? At least for primary debates, I feel like this could significantly make it easier on several fronts.

I am fine as well. Should I send you the TGs right now?

Also, this is a question I've been wondering since the start of the RP. Feel free not to answer if you don't want to. As the political dungeon master, how much of the goings on of the race is RNG-based? I'm sure that you take certain factors into account, but I'd like to know.

Just a recommendation for you all: at rallies it's a good idea to have congressmen, state legislators, and mayors and the like introduce you. If you do that please TG me their names, party and states so I can add them to the list.

I'll start sending out those TGs.

I actually have a bit of an aversion to random numbers. My friend, Arkolon, and I have been making mechanics-based and spreadsheet games for a few years (mostly in F7), and over time we've gradually shifted away from non-repeatable games.

What I do use random numbers for are the polls. Polls are never totally reliable, so random numbers of varying strength are used to throw them off balance, depending on how trustworthy a particular pollster is. I hope this answer helps.

We'll have one more poll before the caucuses tomorrow. If I can set it up in time, I'll make a live map with results that'll come in over a couple hours. Otherwise, I'll just post the results tomorrow evening around this time.

Additionally, here's an example of what I'm looking for as a response for the debate TG:

Economy
1. 20%
2. 20%
3. 20%
4. 20%
5. 20%
Budget
1. 20%
