The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 2287. 210 years after the world was engulfed in atomic flame, 210 years since the government of the United States of America formally died. For a little over two centuries mankind has been on a teetering brink of full collapse, the few bastions of old world values and decent morals outnumbered by those who have survived so long on basic instinct and the svagery in the recesses of the human mind. Beacons of control across the wasteland of North America, the New California Republic, Caesar's Legion, The brotherhood of Steel, The Enclave, The Minutemen. All kept things in a level of status quo, keeping things rightfully calm and safe from outside threat. But for this chapter of history, only the last on that list is relevant.
Rising to prominence in 2180, after fending off wave after wave of super-mutants laying siege to Diamond City, the organisation that wasn't much more than people who knew how to use a gun managed to make something of themselves. With a viable headquarters, a web of patrols and stations across the commonwealth, and a ranking structure that was respected and known by all of it's members, the rag-tag group of people had started to pave thw way to a re-establishment of what could've been a government.
A series of events in 2240 eventually lead to the steady an painful downfall of the Minutmen. A small miscommunication turned the rather easy defense of Fort Independence into a slaughter, with the armory being fully locked down from the inside. The seemingly final nail in the coffin was the death of General Becker in 2281. Without the groups remaining being able to agree on a successor, with the lack of a unified location, and most groups fallen to taking care of their own before all else, the Minutemen became a haunting shadow of what a single event could lead to. With many either disbanding or turning to banditry following a lack of supplies and faith in what was once the Minutemen, the faction all but ceased to exist by 2287.
Now, what remains of the last few honest and true hearted Minutemen are hunkered down in what was once the town of Quincy, holding a fragile line between glorified raiders, and a whole village of civillians. Doing what Minutemen do best, dying so that others can see a tomorrow, and fending off the rejects and outcasts of society, because war...War Never Changes.
0. The rulings of OP and Co-OPs are final.
1. Basic RPing etiquette applies here, no metagaming, no godmodding, generally nothing that isn't acceptable on site.
2. Don't be a knobhead. RP your characters however you want, just keep such behavious in the IC.
3. Treat your posts like a CV, proper grammar and spelling are expected, and don't plaster it with italics and technicolor words, it's an eyesore and a possible health hazard.
4. OP reserves the right to kill your characters. You reserve the right not to complain about it.
5. OP reserves the right to deny applications for any reason.
6. Poor English skills are grounds for app denial/general removal. I should not have to TG you to find out what you meant in your IC posts.
7. Have fun!

For the past 63 years the world at large has been afflicted with people with superpowers, those from all walks of life, impoverished or rich, of all creeds and colors, of all nations. Since the latter stages of the second world war, when German experiments were clipped into Soviet and American programs and unintentionally unleashed upon the world at large. The 50s were filled with fear of the Red Menace, supervillains, and possible fall of the world order as they knew it.
To prevent this, the UN started the meta-human registry. A list of those with genetic, supernatural, or magical powers to keep track of and ensure no hazards were caused by them. Those who developed powers at birth or stumbled upon their birthright by accident would be sent to one of 8 Academies, there they would be taught the norm: mathematics, world history, biology, chemisrty, etc. But along all this they'd be taught how to harness and control their powers.
This is the way things have been for over half a century. Though the machinations and events happening beyond the scope of even the UN or the staff of the Academies threaten to come to fruition, as organisations long thought crumbled to dust and forgotten to the annuls of the history books rear their ugly heads.
As for you, welcome to Academy 4. I hope you enjoy the stay.

In 2014, a terrorist organisation known only as 'The White Masks' starts gaining prominence on the international stage with a number of unified attacks on nearly 18 first and second world capitals. With an unclear motive, and the capability of attacking anywhere in the world at nearly any time, without regard to their victim's age, race, religion or nationality. They became the subject of a number of Counter Terrorist strikes and investigations, turning up with minimal leads despite casualties and arrests. The world started massing their knowledge together, despite previous grudges.
In early 2015, Team Rainbow was reactivated under UN Supervision, after almost 5 years dormant. In the same period Cambridge University came under a biological attack by the White Masks. While Team Rainbow responds within the hour, and removes any and all physical threats from the University's library and nearby dormitory, casualties still reach into the hundreds due to the biological agent used in the attack. Similar events would continue for the next three years.
It is now February of 2018. Three years into Rainbow's mission, and while they remain at work, they have grown to encompass over 40 operators from over 13 nations. All of them dedicated to stomping out the White Mask Threat.
You've been selected.

As with any warning label the below are written not because I expect people are idiots, but because I've actually seen people do exactly as detailed below in RPs like this below, and I now have to put up warning labels to avoid repeats. They know who they are. So here we go:
- Your characters are Special Forces. They should act as such. Punching a subordinate will get you canned, punching a superior doubly so. Calling a teammate from the middle east a rag-head will get your character punched, and probably then canned. Mouthing off against a superior when they give you an order will result in something worse. In short, don't be Private Joker.
- Use common sense. If you're standing in a cloud of VX Gas, in a rather flimsy MOPP suit, don't write that your character got shot. Your character will die, and then you'll have to make a new one. Despite what you may think, I don't actually want to kill people.
- Don't carry more than your body weight. Generally speaking a US Light Infantryman will carry roughly 180 pounds in his pack. That includes all of his equipment, from NVG, to ammo, to a bedroll, to MREs and Water. As an SF unit, at most you'll be carrying some extra ammo or a special gadget. So a few hundred rounds of ammo for everyone, two primaries, a ballistic shield, a few pounds of C4, grenades, a secondary, an AT launcher, and a full BDU with armor is asking to have sniper top your slow ass.
- Gear up appropriately. Don't bring a drum of 12 gauge buckshot to a tubular hostage situation, it'll result in a very high amount of casualties, and you'l be booted from the force faster than you can say "Undisclosed chemicals in the ventilation". That being said, also don't go without your helmet. You madman.
- Remain aware of the layout and objective location, and for the love of God, listen to what's happening in the OOC. If several people are telling you not to throw frag grenades into the next room containing the sole HVT of the operation, and you throw a frag grenade into the room, don't get angry when you severely injure the hostage. And don't say it wasn't your fault when your character gets the boot.
- If you bum rush OPFOR alone, don't expect to make it much further. Especially if you straight up write yourself getting shot by a high caliber rifle near your heart.
- No one fights alone. If you end up in a situation where your clearing a building, don't try to clear a room alone, and furthermore don't announce that you're entering the room before swinging the door open. You'll eat both lead, and a splintering doorway.
- The words of your allies are as sacred as the manuals you read. Just because they have a lower rank, or happen to be younger, doesn't mean that their advice is useless. If someone says that sending your ammo bearer and sharpshooter to perform close-in-recon is a bad idea, it'd be a good idea to hear them out and possibly revise your plan. A bad idea is to replace the ammo bearer with the man who would dare question your orders... Despite them being the platoon's only AT Specialist. That's just shitty leadership, especially when both become wounded as a result.
