The Orion Sector (Nation/Character Rp/WIP)

The Orion Sector, Humanities home in at the edge of explored space. Once, this region of the void was a tranquil, with Earth holding power firmly within her grasp, But those days are slowly slipping away. Earth's control over her far flung children has grown weak as those born under a foreign sun begin to reject the importance of their ancestral homeland. Humanity's interstellar empire is on the verge of collapse, yet a greater threat is on the horizon. One by one, Humanity's neighbors are being snuffed out by an unknown force from deep within explored space.
The Tagali Federation- An FT Nation made up of dozens of species.

I'm not exactly good at writing without a purpose. With nation RPs you kind of have to create your own purpose and while I can maintain that purpose for at least the beginning, I can't keep it up for the long term. I just end up spending three days on an app that I'll make three posts on. Also people usually make some kind of absurdly powerful stuff that kind of just kills my motivation.

The Stars Unnumbered

The Milky Way Galaxy. A jewel hanging suspended in the inky blackness of the universe, one of an uncountable multitude of galaxies. An island of light amongst other islands of light. But here, like in a thousand other galaxies and upon a million other world's life began. Upon most world life would never go past the microbial stage, there environments too hostile for multi cell life, others would see life snuffed out in events far out of the control of the simple beings that called those worlds home. Others still would achieve life complicated enough to produce civilizations, some would end there stories in grand displays of self destructive wars.

However, a few have managed to overcome. These few,who have meet every challenge and survived. Either with the power of there science ot by shear force of will or a mixture of both, these civilizations have transcended there cradle worlds. In the region of the Milky Way known as the Orion Arm civilizations have already begun to make this journey.

To those on Earth the year is 2019. This is the beginning of a new chapter of life in the Milky Way.

What is this?

The Stars Unnumbered is a future tech RP set paradoxically in the modern day. Here we will tell the stories of civilizations that are already in space, there triumphs and defeats. There rises and falls. Here we will tell epic tales of war and political intrigue while also telling the oft forgotten stories of those who are caught up within these grand scale events.

RP Concepts

Before we begin with our stories we must first make an app. I will have some restrictions to this in order to keep the dreaded power gaming that faction rps have at a low level. This will be done in several ways. First will be through the use of a power scale, this will determine in relation to other players how powerful your empire is. There is a tech scale the will give you a definite limit on what your technology can and cannot do. And lastly there will be three stats that can be used to compare yourself to other nation in key areas, Warfare, Industry, and Economy.

If you have an idea that does not fit within these constraints just ask. I am more than wiling to give leeway with these.

First Rate Power: First Rate Powers are the largest and oldest nations in the Orion Arm. As such they have the most planets, the largest populations and the most advanced tech. These are the big players of intergalactic politics. First Rate Powers can have populations of 500 billion, have been in space for at most 500 years and can be in the top tier of the tech ranking. First Rate Powers can control up to 300 systems. First Rate powers can have 10 point to spend on their stats. There is a limit of six first rate powers.

Second Rate Powers: Younger and generally more energetic these civilizations have been in space for a few hundred years at most. While generally not as populated or as large as First Rate Powers nor as large they are nonetheless capable nations and can even be matches for First Rate Power in there own right. Second Rate Powers have been in space for at most 300-200 years and can control up to 200 systems with a population of at most 300 billion. Second Rate Powers also get 8 points to spend.

Third Rate Powers: The youngest of all space faring powers they are relatively weak compared to the other two ratings and must be cunning and politically astute to not be gobbled up by large more imperialistic neighbours. Second Rate Powers can control between 20-75 systems and have populations between 100-200 billion. The can be no older than 200 years and have 6 points to spend.

None-FTL Power: These are the weakest of all the civs. Not all are capable of leaving there system and some haven't even made fire. This Rating includes Earth and Humanity at the current time. For those that wish to play a none-FTL power you may be space faring but not able to leave your home system, have a population between less than a billion and 10 billion and have 4 points to spend on stats.

Tier One:This is the highest tier available to civilizations in Orion. Fairly long range FTL is possible, advanced medical treatments have lead to the eradication of disease. Weapons based on antimatter and exotic energy are being developed, small scale use of teleportation to move goods from ship to ground is possible. AI’s that are nearly sentient are possible. This tier is only available to First Rate Powers.

Tier Two: FTL is mostly mastered, with jumps going several systems before needing to cool the Warp Drives. Plasma and fusion weapons are used, most disease has been eradicated on the most developed worlds. AI is becoming more advanced.

Tier Three: FTL is invented and the first colonies have been made. Diseases are starting to be eradicated on the homeworld, weapons are limited to basic ballistics, nuclear missiles and lasers are used as well as magnetic weapons. AI is advanced enough to make calculated FTL jumps and other math heavy tasks but isn’t that far removed from the earlier AI that advanced pre-FTL civilizations use.

Tier Four: This covers any tech used before FTL is discovered. This ranges from stone age hunter gatherers to civilizations on the cusp of FTL technology

There are also three stats that are used to compare nation to nation. There are Warfare, Industry and Economy. Based on you power rating you have a number of points to spend on these stats. All stats start at three. Under most circumstances these stats will not be needed, however should any disagreements develop during IC conflict the stats will be used to mediate.

General Rules
My word is law
My Co-ops word is also law
My word is higher law
Ships can not be any larger the 1 km
Metagaming and godmoding and the like will not be tolerated
Keep fleet sizes at a reasonable number.

It happened so suddenly...

A deadly contagion has ravaged the United States. Quarantine has failed; millions have been infected.
The government has ceased all normal functions as the death toll rises exponentially.
In weeks the world has changed forever.

However, to the residents of Garfield, Arkansas, it is business as usual. A small town fortunate to have escaped the chaos of collapse.
Blissfully unaware of the true horrors to have engulfed the nation.
They survive, as a close-knit community, perhaps the last of what was.
A bastion, and within a fragment of normality.
Not that the path forward will be easy.
The townsfolk cannot avoid the realities of what has occurred.
Isolation will not save them. Supplies are finite, and unknowable dangers lurk beyond the safety of town.

Survival is not a given, simply a matter of for how long.

A manufactured virus has devastated the United States. Millions have been killed, and millions more have been infected. Those who do not perish outright are driven to insanity by the damaging effects of the virus, attacking anything and everything with a feral hunger; others are less fortunate, ravaged by horrific mutations and having lost every fiber of their humanity. Some are gifted with immunity, and a very select few benefit from infection.

This RP will be set in the rural Garfield, Arkansas, and the surrounding areas. Having been spared the worse effects of the collapsing civilization, the townsfolk gather together to weather the coming troubles.

WiP

This RP will be set primarily in the city of Chicago and the surrounding area. Those who survived the initial outbreak, and subsequent quarantine, have long since abandoned the city, and only the brave, foolish, or desperate remain to scavenge whatever is left. Riots have damaged many parts of the city. Looting has left little of value, and what does remain lies deep where infection runs rampant. Checkpoints block all major roads and avenues, a failed attempt by the United States Army and National Guard to prevent the inevitable. The streets are eerily quiet like that of a ghost town, but danger lurks in the shadows, and rarely is one ever truly alone. For reasons that are yours and yours alone you find yourself here, in Chicago, and no matter your background or purpose the goal remains the same: survive.

Although not technically a story about zombies in the traditional sense, the infection could be comparable to L4D or Resident Evil, but only in theme. This is NOT an action movie, however, and should not be treated as such.
In the end this is a story about people.

• Delete all parenthesis and unused optional tabs.
• Characters must be locals of Garfield, Arkansas.
• Multiple characters are allowed but do not create more than you can handle or they will be culled.
• Only a few characters with military/police/survivalist/etc. backgrounds will be accepted. First come; first served.
• Characters with no immunity can become infected. Furthermore, characters can die if not careful.
• Avoid using personality quirks to define Skills and Weaknesses.

FULL
The virus cannot survive within these individuals.
GIFTED
TE-13; infected individuals have undergone beneficial mutations affecting physical or mental capabilities. Oftentimes these mutations are minor, however, some individuals may develop superhuman characteristics. Infection can be spread.
PARTIAL / CARRIER
TD-13; the virus is capable of surviving within an individual with no apparent harm. Can spread infection.
NONE
No immunity. Individual is susceptible to infection.

T-13 is a manufactured viral mutagen possessing a lethal degree of unpredictability. The virus quickly — and oftentimes destructively — targets the DNA sequence of living organisms, resulting in uncontrolled cell division, necrosis, and spontaneous DNA recombination. The virus cannot survive outside the confines of a living host, and, as such, transmission is predominantly through direct contact with an infected individual via tainted blood, saliva, or other bodily fluids, however, close proximity (coughing, sneezing, etc.) can potentially lead to infection. Upon entering a host the virus mutates into one of several identified strains. Currently there is no reliable method to predict strain occurrence. As a final note, the virus will mutate regardless of the infecting variation.

TA-13
TRANSMISSION: Common
The virus embeds itself into the respiratory and circulatory systems of an infected individual, however, other systems, such as spinal or neurological, may be affected to a lesser extent. Flu-like symptoms are likely to develop in early-stage infection and generally worsen over time. The lungs especially are irreparably damaged, leading to breathing difficulties and, upon late-stage infection, internal hemorrhaging with death arriving soon thereafter. Incubation period and progression vary dramatically between individuals. The young, the elderly, or those with compromised immune systems will oftentimes succumb in a matter of days if not hours. Healthy individuals can potentially survive for weeks or longer with proper medical treatment.
Survival rate is unconfirmed but is believed to be miniscule.
TB-13
TRANSMISSION: Uncommon
The virus predominantly targets the neural pathways. Although varying between individuals, brain, nerve, and spinal damage can result, potentially leading to partial or full paralysis and, ultimately, brain death. Those who survive infection often suffer catastrophic brain damage.
These individuals often react violently towards people, objects, and stimuli.
TC-13
TRANSMISSION: Rare
The most destructive variation, the virus indiscriminately targets DNA sequences throughout the body leading to uncontrolled and unpredictable recombination. Progressing in a manner similar to TB-13, over time an infected individual will undergo several physical mutation which, oftentimes, is fatal. Survivors were generally no longer human in terms of appearance and are extremely dangerous vectors of the virus.
Extreme caution is advised when encountering such individuals.
TD-13
TRANSMISSION: Uncommon
A relatively benign strain presenting no detrimental effects, however, flu-like symptoms may be present during the initial stage of infection. The host remains highly contagious and can spread the virus through contact necessitating indefinite quarantine.
TE-13
TRANSMISSION: Very Rare
The rarest and least understood variation, the virus again targets DNA sequences, however, damage is minimal and may result in mutations considered beneficial. Although varying greatly in intensity between individuals, those affected may see a boost in physical traits, immunities, mental acuity, and other as of yet unidentified attributes. These "gifted" individuals may display characteristics ranging in scope from nonexistent to superhuman. Unfortunately, the virus remains highly contagious. Currently there is no valid explanation as to how or why this particular strain manifests the way it does.
TM-13
TRANSMISSION: Unknown
A random mutation in viral RNA has allowed for cross-species transmission. A catch-all designation, progression varies with identifiable mutations ranging in intensity from nonexistent to extensive, including those which could be deemed beneficial. Any creature can potentially be infected, but those in greater contact with humanity are at a substantially greater risk.
TZ-13
TRANSMISSION: Unknown
An aerosolized variation of the virus. The presence of microscopic, organic compounds allow for extended survivability outside a living host, thus making this alteration ideal for airborne transmission. Arid environments will quickly decay the effectiveness of the aerosol.

INFECTED
DANGER: Moderate
The virus has destroyed the minds of these individuals, leaving only a husk of what once was human. Feral and highly aggressive (in most documented cases) the Infected will attack anyone and anything and will pursue their prey relentlessly in an effort to sate their voracious hunger, and have been known to kill their own from time-to-time. Brain damage has rendered the Infected virtually immune to pain, yet are easily dispatched by most injuries that would otherwise prove fatal to uninfected individuals. Alone, a single Infected is relatively weak when approached with caution, but in groups they can easily swarm a location. A few have demonstrated the ability to use simple tools and weapons, whereas others have shown instances of recollection

MAJOR FACTIONS
ATLAS
STATUS: Unknown
An international corporation with the strength and influence to rival that of a small country, Atlas is perhaps the most powerful non-governmental entity in the western hemisphere. With a focus on biomedical and genetic research, Atlas is rumored to have some connection to T-13, although such conspiracies have little evidence to justify allegations. Regardless, Atlas has since shown an overt interest in the outbreak. Atlas is believed to have ceased most functions following the collapse of the quarantine.
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT of the UNITED STATES
STATUS: Unknown
Once the most powerful nation in the world, the United States has struggled to maintain control of a rapidly deteriorating situation. Officially, the government is no longer active, but military operations are rumored to be underway in some locations. Priorities have since shifted from protecting citizens to combating the spread of infection.

LOCAL FACTIONS

• OP/Co-OP has final say. No exceptions.

• OP/Co-OP can deny any application for any reason.

• No God-modding or Meta-gaming. No directly controlling a PLAYER CHARACTER, GMPC, or FACTION unless given permission to do so. Moving people along towards a destination is fine, but keep actions vague. Minor NPC's can be controlled freely within reason. Ask if uncertain.

• PLAYER CHARACTERS must remain in the specified area(s). Characters traveling beyond these established borders will be considered INACTIVE.

• Loot (weapons, equipment, etc.) will be decided by OP/Co-OP or by location-specific items.
Ask beforehand before "finding" that RPG or gold-plated AK-47.

• No one-liners. Try to use correct grammar. Use paragraphs. Your writing should be easy to read and understand.

• No fighting or arguing in the OOC. Any issues should be addressed by OP/Co-OP or taken to TG.

• Keep the story PG-13. No topic is off-limits but be mindful of how it is presented.

• Be active should you apply. If you will be inactive for any considerable period of time for whatever the reason then alert the OP/Co-OP, or post that you will be gone in the OOC, or your character will be culled. Additionally, if you fail to respond in a reasonable time-frame and are holding back a scenario or others we will move on without you. (You character(s) will function as an NPC.)

• No overpowered characters. No killing everything in sight. Things should be difficult or I will make the situation significantly worse.

• Have fun.

The year is 2281, over 200 years since the Great War burned the very earth in a great holocaust of nuclear fire. The world as we knew it, was all but obliterated. However, Humanity survived by taking to great underground vaults, bastions of nuclear hardened safety buried beneath the face of the earth. Humanity would return to the face of the earth many years later, departing the great vaults to brave the new world left behind by the atomic bombs.

Our story starts in the Georgian Wasteland, home to many such vaults. However, the dangers of post apocalyptic America are prevalent in their own form here. Mutants, wildlife, and radiation still pose a threat to humanity, but an even greater threat is humanity itself. Slavers, raiders, swamp folk, and more threaten the good and honest settlers of the Georgia. However, possibly one of the the greatest threats to humanity is found in rumors of a deadly and painful sickness that plagues the people of the Georgian Wasteland.

Although this sickness hasn't spread too far yet, it is likely to take second seat to humanity's infighting and warring, because war...

War never changes.

This RP is set in the state of Georgia, within the Fallout universe as of the year 2281. The RP, while open world, will revolve around a main quest line that players are encouraged to participate in. However, players are allowed to take on side quests, or pursue their own agendas. Player interaction is strongly encouraged to allow for the best storytelling and development. Finally, as always, have fun with writing and exploring the Georgian Wasteland!

Hey, kids.

Do you like violence?

Does anyone remember an old RP called Pretty Okay Company made by a swell chap named Ayreonia(god rest his soul)?

For those of you unfamiliar, I'll give some links.
Original OOC which also links to the IC and worldbuilding thread.
Reboot Thread

Basically tl;dr it's a setting of roughly WW1/WW2 era with some extremely light fantasy thrown in. (Read: Depending on how much you read into the canon, there may or may not be magic)

I believe it could do with a bit of polishing and a reboot.

Thoughts? Prayers?

Ten years ago, there was a war that engulfed the world.
And in that war were pilots who trailed across the sky, and who disappeared from history.
Mercenaries who inspired both fear and admiration.
To some they were heroes. To others...

The Demons of the Round Table.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

March 25, 1994. The day the war began.

Belka, its economy shattered by the Economic Crisis, invades Gebet and Recta, to both reclaim its former territories and to secure access to valuable resources. They march unopposed. By mid-April, Recta has surrendered unconditionally. Two weeks later Gebet is occupied, its military defeated at Model despite the intervention of FATO, whom submit soon thereafter. Come June, Belka turns its attention to Ustio, and more importantly Area B7R, "The Round Table".

A year has passed since the commencement of hostilities. The remnants of the Ustian military have been pushed back to the very fringe of the nation, their government exiled as Belka (and co-belligerent Ratio) advance deeper into allied territory. A juggernaut that cannot be stopped.

Now, Belka moves against the final bastion of Ustio deep within the icy Tyrann Mountains, and the tides of war change.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — —

Welcome to the 6th Air Division, a mercenary aerial squadron funded by the Osean Federation to reinforce the beleaguered Ustio Air Force. Deployed to Valais Air Base in April 1995, your objective is to defend the final bastion of Ustio's military in a last-ditch effort to stall the Belkan advance to allow Allied Forces the opportunity to establish a new frontline, and, ultimately, to liberate the Republic of Ustio.

This RP is loosely based on the 2006 video game Ace Combat Zero: the Belkan War. Players will participate as a mercenary air squadron and will engage in various missions throughout the latter months of the war. A degree of realism will be enforced so act accordingly. Munitions (missiles/bombs/etc) will be limited to real-world quantities. Additionally, know the limitations of your aircraft. (An A-10 is very unlikely to be intercepting MiG's at 30,000 feet.) I also ask that one use appropriate jargon to the best of their abilities. Kills will be allowed for the player to dictate so long as self-moderation is employed. Not every missile/bomb/rocket/etc should find its target, and unlike the source material you are not a legendary Ace with no equal. If this trust is abused then myself and my Co-OP's will be forced to intervene, which is something I hope to avoid.

You may have a maximum of two pilots as well as any co-pilots necessary to crew an aircraft. Do not use one character to fund another or there will be severe consequences. NPC's can be controlled by players to some degree so long as they are unimportant to the overall story. Major NPC's will be controlled by OP, Co-OP, or anyone given permission to do so. When in doubt ask.

- Delete all parenthesis and/or unused optional segments (items in grey).
- Keep track of your funds. I will not do so for you. The same applies for aircraft modifications.
- As mercenaries, former military ranks are no longer required.

How to be legitimately recognised in NS? Be a proper Roleplayer.
In a community where knowledge should be used to uplift the teachable and be used as an interest instead of a necessity, the arrogant abuse of knowledge is interesting to watch.

WIP OP for Emergence Reboot

Postby Shadowwell » Tue Jun 18, 2019 12:54 pm

Emergence Reboot OOC
IC-OOC(Here)

It was in the year 2003 that the term Heroes and Meta first emerged into the public eye and became mainstream for a reason other than comics. The first hero became known to the public after a group of criminals hijacked an armored semi and initiated a high-speed chase. As the semi was approaching a Police roadblock, a man in a faded green hoodie with a book in one hand and headphone walked into the middle of the street. It was obvious that the man was distracted by something as he didn’t notice the commotion around him until bullets from the Semi passed by his face.

He turned towards the Semi, Long burnt gold hair escaping his hood as he did so; He stuck out a single arm. Everyone watching was expecting the man to be blown away like a ragdoll, but that didn’t happen. His large frame stood firm like a mountain, the cab of the Semi crumpled around the man’s arm like hammer striking wet clay. He disengaged himself and walked away, everyone was too flabbergasted at what they had seen to move or chase after him.

That man was Robert Macintyre, who would later be known as Mr. Invincible. Following the interview with him, revealing his identity, other people who had powers, who would be called Meta’s emerged. Just as heroes with powers emerged so did those who committed crimes with their abilities. Over the next 14 years a status quo was kept, Heroes would stop the crimes that the Villains would commit.

Now almost two years later that status quo has begun to end, six months ago Mr Invincible and a villain many would call his rival, Mr Omnifarous fought. They never resurfaced after their fight, no bodies were found or any sign of Robert Macintyre or Cameron Williams as the two Metas were known as normally. Until now things have been eerily calm no person or faction has dared make a move in case this is a trap, but things are about to change.

1. Op and Co-ops word is law. (Unless a far higher power says otherwise.)
2. No God Modding, Metagaming, Flaming, Etc. (though i will leave the decision up to the party whose character was affected, as to whether that warrants a strike or not.)
3. Keep it PG-13, though i will be a bit lenient concerning this.
4. You get Three Strikes then your out, however if you are inactive for 3 or more days without any response you will be dropped.
5. You can have Immortal characters but keep their age reasonable and they should have quite a detailed backstory. Exceptions may be allowed.
6. Keep the OOC out of the IC and Be Nice OOC'ly.( Your character can act how they want, within reason, ICly.)
7. No one liners, unless you have a damn good explanation, Though grammar and the like i will be lenient about as mine isn't the best regardless.
8. Three to five characters max, unless i say otherwise.
9. Characters Must be one of the listed races n the app, Unless i approve otherwise, which is iffy.
10. No magic or supernatural powers as a general rule, unless sufficiently explained. Additionally all powers a character has must be related or the result of another greater ability. No time travelers, Expys or characters from other dimensions, generally speaking.
11. As a general rule No Killing others PC's, but I will be Lenient towards the killing of Generic NPC's. If you are unsure ask me.

These rules aren't set in stone, and may be changed or refined in time. Additionally the order they are listed is not their order of importance.
Races
Within the World of Emergence there exist those quite different from normal baseline humans.
Humans: Baseline humans are simply put those who do not have superpowers or active ones at least. When they gain powers they would be considered Metahuman even if they do not know of their power.
Metahumans: Metahumans are simply put those with superpowers whether they know they have them or not. The Government classifies Metahumans in ranks from 1-12 typically, most known metahumans are below rank 6.
Synthetics: though most think the term Synthetic only refers to Androids and the like it in all actually refers to all sentient/sapient beings not naturally born. This does include mobile humanoid platforms inhabited by self aware AI or transferred human consciousnesses but also applies to beings created from scratch through genetic engineering.
OP: Me
Co-OP:
Watcher: (Has no power to accept apps, but they are allowed to reprimand people and if the situation call for it booting out of the thread or the like.)
The presence of Metahumans has led to tech becoming slightly more advanced. Not all tech is widespread or incredibly advanced, Ironman style suits and power armor are experimental at best beyond a few exceptions. Lightweight ultrastrong body armor suits do exist as well as similar sets of equipment. Power resistant materials are present, both construction materials and materials for regular clothes and costumes.
March 3rd 2003: Date of Emergence: It was on this day that Robert Macintyr stopped a car chase with a simple punch before vanishing.

Feburary 2005: The League of Heroes is officially established with Robert Macintyre and several associates being the first Members. BEginning of the Age of HEroes.

2007: Renovations begin on Alcatraz turning it back into one of the most secure detainment facilities in the United States.

2010: The Rock is finished, its first prisoner is Mr Omnifarous, long-time rival of Mr invincible. Omnifarous escapes 3 weeks later but that was still the longest any place had ever held him so it is considered a success but more renovations and upgrades ensue.

2011: The United States Government establishes M.A.I.D., the Metahuman acquisition and investigation Department. They serve as a government sanctioned Metahuman police force, many of its early members are former military or law enforcement.

2018:The Night of the final fight between Mr Invincible and Mr Omnifarous, they vanished soon afterwards.

2019: The Year the rp begins six months after the fight between Omnifarous and Invincible.
League of Heroes: The League of Heroes was created in Feburary 2005 to serve as a way prospective Heroes to meet one another and organize. Since its conception in 2005 it has grown into a nationwide organization. Many of its members work alone or simply join the League for a sense of security or as a place to meet more people like them. Though many Heroes work alone there are many small groups or teams of Heroes, the most famous being Aegis, a group formed by many of the First members of the League.

Due to government regulations Metahumans with the League do not officially receive a stipend or salary typically. As a result of this the League and many of its members derive income from Bounties on Villains. Bounties are not the only source of income for the League and its members however, interested parties can log jobs in for Metahumans through the League. These jobs range from simple consultations to scientific batteries to commercials and similar activities.

Syndicate: Once Heroes and Villains began to become active in the Early 2000's Organized crime took a heavy hit. To combat this many of the known groups unified into the Syndicate, each group still does their own thing but they have metahuman support. Although many smaller gangs are under their umbrella it is mainly a means of protecting themselves from the more organized Heroes so loyalty is not commonly found towards the group as a whole.

Society of Villains: Villains being who and what they are typically do not share well with one another, The Society was created as a way for Villains to combat the growing organization Heroes were showing. Most believe it was created by Mr Omnifarous to give his lesser brethren a chance but few know if that is true or not. It operates much as the League of Heroes does but has no public buildings, Villains know where to find the dens the Society operates out of.

Colored Council: The Colored Council is a group of 9 like minded individuals, mean and women with government and economic ties. They are not good, nor are they evil, they serve their own purposes be they nefarious or benevolent. They have many people following them, the most powerful of these agents are the Numbers and the elites of the Numbers are called Primes. Though most Primes are more skilled than regular numerals the first 10 of the Numbers, prime or not are the most capable individuals the Colored Council has.

The Colors go by Mr. or Ms. Whatever color they are, Their orders are relayed to the Numbers through Number one, the first and strongest of the Primes. They hold extremely advanced technology at their disposal. Each color has a sigil, usually used as a watermark of sorts for their documents and the like. ( the first seven each belong to one of the rainbow colors in the order of Roy G biv., with 2 of the last three being for black and white respectively.) Black and White unlike the other colors work as a team usually and as such hold more power than any other individual Color. Currently it is Ms. White and Mr. Black.

Primes: The Primes are the special forces equivalent within the Numbers, most are metahuman but not all are. Though not a prime number One is the First and most powerful Prime under the Colored Council.

Numbers: The Numbers are the ground pounders, the shock troops of the Colored Council. The majority of them are heavily skilled, either in combat , simply infiltration and assassination, or other fields. They come from all fields and walks of life, some are former military or law enforcement others are more mundane, regardless few if any know they work for the Colored Council.

M.A.I.D. : The Metahuman Acquisition and Investigation Division was originally created as a token showing of government support for the few Registered Heroes or Metas in the military or law enforcement. Many of its original members were Metahumans moved from active duty in the military or Law Enforcement. Now after a period of training any Human or Metahuman can join MAID but backgrounds in military or Law enforcement are preferred.

MAID is essentially the go to organization for most Metahuman related crimes and affairs. They are a government funded organization unlike the League and as such each member receives a stipend or wage. Although MAID does actively track down Villains with Bounties, the individuals who turn in the Villain do not always receive a cut of the Bounty. Typically any rewards received go to funding the Department itself unless earmarked for other functions.

Metahuman Affairs Agency: The MAA is he result of a recently implemented government mandate to provide support for Metahumans which do not wish to be apart of the League of Heroes. Though a tough decision in order to receive benefits or assistance from the MAA a metahuman must register. In the last six months there have been talks of allowing MAID and similar agencies to use the MAA database for narrowing down suspects but no official decision has been made.

Order of Paris: The Order of Paris is simply put a secret society with ancient roots. They are borderline fanatical typically and are utterly devoted to their cause, hindering Metahumans. The Order itself does not act openly and few in the modern era know that it exists. They do have agents and organizations working for them however, one such organization is The Children of Purity.

Paris: Paris the what the leader of the Order of Paris is called, none of its members know his real name but many think it is his real name. Many members of the Order believe that he is Paris, Prince of Troy, or one of his descendants. They believe that after the Fall of Troy Paris founded the ORder to render justice upon those that we now call Metahumans. No one outside the Order knows how old he is or what he looks like but it is presumed he is charismatic, due to the devotion members of the Order show to him.

Children Of Purity: The Children of Purity are a known anti-metahuman group. They are akin to terrorists and though they are small they do have some amount of unofficial support. They have only become active in the last year, prior to that it was small things rallies, vandalism, and the like.

Freelancers, Independents, and Vigilantes: There are all manner of people who are not truly affiliated with any faction or organization fully. Those people are typically referred to as Freelancers, Independents, or vigilates depending upon what they do.

Freelancers: Freelancers are Independent contractors of sorts, they are the sort to go where the work is typically and as such they work with Heroes, Villains, and others. They do what they do for a pay off much like mercenaries, to them it is not personal but business, no matter what they do.

Independents: Independents are typically Metahumans who either do not wish to get involved in the affairs of any faction or those who do not wish to be involved with Heroes or Villains.

Vigilantes: Vigiliantes are typically Heroes not affiliated with the League, MAID, or any known or government recognized organization. As such although heroes most operate outside the law, many advocates for Heroes say these people give Heroes a bad name which may or may not be true.

Epoch LLC: Epoch LLC is a Limited Liability Company primarily focusing on robots and electronics software. Founded in 2013, the past seven years have seen it's products increase from simple home cleaning robots and anti-virus software, to full blown neurally linked prosthesis, government contracted drones, and their own private computer OS.

ADVENT Industries: Currently working in conjunction with Mark Logan Jefferson, they were responsible for providing most of the building materials used in renovating the Rock. They became known after revealing Power resistant materials they began to market over a decade ago.

Master Tech: a tech firm owned by the Colored Council and run by Austin Oz Masters, a Meta in their 'employ'. He is responsible for most of the tech they wield and the creation of One, to a lesser degree.
The presence of Metahumans has led to tech becoming slightly more advanced. Not all tech is widespread or incredibly advanced, Ironman style suits and power armor are experimental at best beyond a few exceptions. Lightweight ultrastrong body armor suits do exist and similar sets of equipment. Power resistant materials are present, both construction materials and materials for regular clothes and costumes. NAME: Nobuatsu Oda
ALIAS / DESIGNATION: Ronin
NATIONALITY: None
ETHNICITY: Japanese
RACE: Metahuman
AGE: He is around 431 years of age, give or take. He appears younger however.

APPEARANCE: Nobu. He stands at just over 5 feet, standing at 5 foot 2 inches. He has a single tattoo on his back, a massive rendition of the Oda clan Emblem which spans most of his back. His skin has many pale scars found on it, blade wounds, bullet wounds even a few scars where stitches or sutures had been used. Typically he wears a Kamashiro, an outfit worn during the Edo period by Samurai and Couriers, though Nobu makes his own.
PERSONALITY:First and Foremost, Nobuatsu is an honorable man, he lives by a set of rules many would not understand. He is tolerable and patient, but ruthless, if you wast all the chances he gives you he will cut you down if necessary.

AFFILIATION:

POWERS / SKILLS:
WEAKNESSES: (Be creative. Simple character flaws or rare kryptonite will not suffice.)

BACKSTORY: Nobuatsu was born as part of a set of twins to a child of Nobunaga Oda in the year 1588. He and his brother were fraternal twins rather than identical, but they were still separated. They were raised the same until they turned 5 when it became apparent that his brother Nobuhiro favored their father more. Thus it was determined that Nobuhiro would lead while a much different, much crueler fate awaited Nobuatsu.

The Oda clan had suffered much after Nobunaga Oda fell, so they chose not to kill Nobuatsu. He was sent to Hattori Hanzo, a renowned warrior who was friends with Nobunaga. He was subjected to training many modern humans would consider torture, but he succeeded beyond anyones expectations. At the age of 16 he was sent out to properly hone his skills in battle and otherwise, he would do so for 5 years. At the age of 21 he was recruited to work for Nobuhiro

Eventually it came to light that Nobuatsu was Nobuhiro's brother. That alone was no real issue but there were those who sought to depose Nobuhiro and make Nobuatsu rule. Regardless of the fact that Nobuatsu cared not about ruling, just honing his craft, they still tried. Nobuhiro became worried that Nobuatsu would take his power, and in his paranoia and desperation he committed a grave mistake, he made Nobuatsu his enemy. He sent Nobuatsu away on a mission and arranged for assassins to ambush him. Nobuatsu defeated the assassins with ease, being careful not to injure them fatally, but his fight was far from over.

If those assassins had been the end of it then Nobuatsu could have perhaps forgiven his brothers trespass against him. While assassins had been sent to ambush Nobuatsu a similar group had been dispatched to Nobuatsu's home. When he arrived the assassins were still there, but he was too late, his wife and their firstborn were dead. He defeated those who turned their blades towards his family, he did not kill them, he was not that merciful. He worked his way through the soldiers sent to his home and discovered they were sent by Nobuhiro.

Nobuatsu was angry, to Nobuatsu him dying was an inevitability, he was a warrior after all, but to direct a blade towards his family, that was unforgiveable. He rode towards Nagoya Castle, the seat of power and home of the Oda clan. Thus began an epic battle you will find no evidence of in any surviving historical document. Even though he was just one man against a veritable army, one could not help but feel sorry for those loyal to Nobuhiro.

Nobuatsu had always been stronger and faster than one of his size normally would be, he did not know why he just accepted it. During his assault on Nagoya Castle he was different, to say he fought like a man possessed would be an understatement. His fury and focus on his goal allowed him to push himself and allowed him to use his superpower, though he still did not know he had one at that time. The battle was not entirely one-sided, despite his skill and ferocity he still took many injuries. He lasted long enough to reach Nobuhiro, he did not kill his brother, but left him with his shame and dishonor, a more lasting injury than anything physical.

His injuries were great, but he still pushed himself to reach where he and his wife had lived. He knew he was dying, he could feel his life leaving him, but was able to ignore it to some extent. He reached the grave he had made for Mina Hasegawa, his wife, and committed seppuku in front of her grave. Fate had other things in store for him however, when his blade pierced his flesh is powers fully awoke. The emotional trauma had allowed him to subconsciously harness his ability, the physical damage awakened it fully.

He awoke to find all his wounds healed and his body younger, stronger than it had been in his prime years ago. He could feel that he was different from how he once was, he could feel the potential within his body. Even when Nobuatsu had travelled in his youth to hone his skills he had never left Japan. Now however he knew he had to leave, he went where the tides of war and battle took him. He stayed in Africa for some time as a mercenary, honing his skills and determining the changes the sword had wrought upon him.

He spent more than two centuries away from Japan, travelling the world and expanding his horizons. He would return to his homeland in the year 1866, and make a home in the Echizen province in a village there. For nearly a dozen years he would stay in Japan, leading a peaceful existence far removing from his last couple centuries of fighting. In 1877 when Saigo Takamori led a samurai rebellion against the Meiji government, officially Nobuatsu left Japan after a certain incident. In truth he remained in Japan, not in a single place, rather he roamed from island to island helping their inhabitants.

a few years after WW2 began Nobuatsu was captured by the Japanese government of the time and handed over to the Nazi regime. Though knowledge of Meta's was not widespread the Nazis chased down even the most preposterous rumor. They kept him quite well contained after some trial and error, Nobu was left to their tender care for years until he facility he was in was attacked. He and others kept there escaped during the chaos, he had been made somewhat wary by the actions of his people and what he experienced under the Nazis.

Following WW2 Nobu went to wander the world again, even during the Cold War nothing changed about that, he did keep on the move however. He would not stay in any place for long, occasionally helping people when he could and then moving on. In recent years he has come to both appreciate and abhor certain changes of the world and certain phenomena and cultural curiosities that have risen in the in the last several decades. One thing he has taken a liking to is certain foods and motion pictures, one such among them is pizza, he also likes star wars. Recently he has been traveling through the United States, a place he has not been for some time.

I have some links that may help with powers and character creation. Backstory Generator, another one, and bits from these generators could help as well. Some give general ideas; others do the same while describing the appearance and personality. More importantly here is the link to the Superpower wiki page for a resource concerning powers.

Hello NS and welcome to Emergence, the reboot. Emergence was my First RP here on NS to actually get an OOC and IC. Emergence is a basic Sandbox rp set in San Francisco, your characters can do what they want within reason but they might draw heat on themselves for their actions. Your character can be a Hero, Villain or an Unaffiliated Meta with a variety of factions. I would like to see interesting well balanced characters, though i do not want to see Superman-esque characters you can have powerful characters as long as they have proportionate weaknesses. Balancing does not just refer to powers but your characters equipment as well, as such unless specified I will presume that any and all equipment are with that character at any time.
