A long time ago in a galaxy far,
far away. . . .

-| JEDI ACADEMY |-

Ten years have passed since the Battle of Jakku and the defeat of the Galactic Empire. The New Republic has burdened itself with rebuilding a galaxy desecrated by war, and Luke Skywalker, hero of the Rebellion, seeks to restore the Jedi Order, establishing a new Jedi Academy on the isolated world of D'Qar. With him are the few Jedi Knights he has since trained in the ways of the Force, and together they and the next generation of Jedi seek a new beginning of light were once there was only darkness.

Peace, however, is fragile, and the New Republic struggles to confirm its place amongst the galaxy, its power tenuous amidst a divided peoples tempted by a newfound independence. Hutt territory is expanding unchecked, the Imperial Remnant is steadfastly defiant, and the evils of the Dark Side lurk just out of sight.

The New Jedi Order is young, untested, but in the coming years the disciples of Luke Skywalker will find themselves thrust forward as protectors of the galaxy, guardians just as countless eons of Jedi to come before saw fit to devote themselves as saviors of the Light. The Jedi Academy on D'Qar is merely the start, and should it succeed the Jedi will reclaim their place in the Force. But first they must survive the trials ahead.

This is a reboot of a previous Jedi Academy RP. Adopting the role of either a Jedi Apprentice or a Jedi Knight, you will attend the Jedi Academy on the planet D'Qar to be trained in the ways of the Force, however, keep in mind, this is not an Academy RP and will instead progress in a manner similar to that of the video game with various missions advancing the plot. Content and lore will be a mix of Expanded Universe (now Legends) and Disney Canon with a focus on the former. The Battle of Jakku (5 ABY) will serve as a soft dividing point between Canon/Legends and Alternate Universe with the RP following an entirely original plot separate from previous media. Episode VII and Episode VIII do not happen and the characters do not exist.

• Delete everything in parenthesis and/or unused optional slots.
• Multiple characters will be allowed within reason with a soft limit of two.
• Apprentices will start with a borrowed lightsaber (single/dual - blue/green) and will create their own later.
• Original characters are preferred, but non-original characters can potentially be accepted pending a good application.
• No overpowered characters. The Jedi have yet to recover fully and there is still much to learn.

NEW REPUBLIC
Born of the Rebellion, the New Republic has restored democratic function to the galaxy after many years of civil war, however, with the power vacuum left in the Empire's wake the fledgling government has yet to cement its place as the rightful authority. Currently the New Republic is attempting to rebuild the planets affected by the war. Coruscant is the capital with Mon Mothma being elected as the first Head of State.

Image
NEW JEDI ORDER
Under the leadership of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Order has reformed with a handful of resolute Jedi Knights to sow the path. After much deliberation the planet D'Qar was chosen on which to construct a new academy. The abandoned Rebel outpost was reworked and has since grown into a proper Jedi Academy complete with supporting staff. The New Jedi Order is young still but its destiny is laid out before it.

Image
IMPERIAL REMNANT
What remained of the Galactic Empire following the Battle of Jakku retreated to the Outer Rim Territories, and although fractured the Imperials remain a threat to the doubtful stability of a galaxy still recovering from war. Currently attempting to stabilize its territory, but rumor has it that infighting has since led to an internal conflict that threatens the complete disintegration of the Empire, if not the rise of radical ideologies. Bastion is the capital with Vicvin Rownlov being the last known leader of the Imperial Remnant.

Image
HUTT CARTEL
With the collapse of the Galactic Empire, thus an ending to the oppression of criminal syndicates, the Hutts have greatly expanded their territory and, despite erring on the side of caution, have yet to be contested by the New Republic. This failure has led the cartel to take bolder actions in recent months. Tittu Sken is the current leader, assuming power following the death of Jabba the Hutt.

• 19 BBY

• 0 BBY

• 3 ABY

• 4 ABY

• 5 ABY

• 6 ABY
    - Luke Skywalker begins training the next generation of Jedi. His disciples will eventually go on to become the first Jedi Knights. This is very much a learning experience to Skywalker as it is to his Jedi.

    - The Liberation of Coruscant takes place. New Republic victory; Imperial Remnant and sympathizers surrender the planet, the New Republic relocates its capital to Coruscant amidst some controversy.

• 9 ABY
    - Luke Skywalker begins investigating wounds in the Force and areas strong in Dark Side energies as part of his personal training. He visits several locations including the remains of Alderaan and Vestar.

• 13 ABY
    - After much deliberation the Jedi and New Republic supporters agree to the establishment of a new Jedi Academy on the isolated world of D'Qar. Luke Skywalker oversees construction, leaving his Jedi Knights to scour the galaxy in search of those possessing a strong connection to the Force.

• 15 ABY
    - The new Jedi Apprentices arrive on D'Qar.

The Jedi Academy on D'Qar is unlike that on Yavin 4, the latter being based inside an old Massassi Temple whereas the former is newer construction emulating the style. D'Qar is a forested planet with low mountains, warm with a rainy/dry season, and a planetary ring believed to be the remains of a shattered asteroid or moon (two of which are still intact). Ruins have been discovered on the planet but the civilization remains unidentified; in recent years D'Qar was occupied by a mining corporation and, later, the Rebel Alliance. The Jedi Academy makes use of an abandoned base.

Any additional questions/answers concerning the RP or lore will be posted here for future reference.

Could I ask of what age at latest are you allowed to join the New Jedi Order?
There's no official cutoff age.

Name: Luke Skywalker
Age: 34 (19 BBY)
Gender: Male
Species: Human

Appearance:
Luke stands at 5'7 (172cm) and weighs approximately 170 pounds (77kg). Thin, but solid. Light-coloured hair has darkened over the years, and after the stress of war and facing the Galactic Empire (among numerous other tasks and challenges) is showing some grey despite not yet being forty. Blue eyes. Has a cybernetic right hand after losing the limb to Darth Vader in their fateful duel on Bespin in 3 ABY. Has several minot scars from years of serving the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Rank: Jedi Master

Lightsaber: Luke's Lightsaber (Single, Green)
Ship: T-65B X-Wing Starfighter
Equipment:

Personality: Calm, Empathetic, Idealistic, Patient
Goals: To restore the Jedi Order; to bring peace to a galaxy ravaged by war and the Dark Side of the Force.

Background:
Much is known about the life of Luke Skywalker following his rise as hero of the Rebel Alliance and, more importantly, his being the last Jedi. Born on Polis Massa (but raised on Tatooine) Luke would join the fight against the Galactic Empire following the death of his aunt and uncle and, discovering his destiny with the assistance of Obi-Wan Kenobi, would be instrumental in defeating Darth Vader and the Emperor in the coming years, taking part in the destruction of the Death Star, the Battle of Hoth, and the crucial turning point at the Battle of Endor. A symbol of hope in a galaxy clouded by darkness, Luke Skywalker was no doubt the greatest hero of the Galactic Civil War.

Following the death of the Emperor and the redemption of Darth Vader, Luke would step away from the conflict (which would continue until the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY) and would go on to reform the Jedi Order. Although small in number, the first to be trained in the ways of the Force would immediately prove themselves in a galaxy unstable from war. These Jedi Knights, loyal to the Force and to the Light Side, would further serve as a beacon in the post-war years with Luke to guide them. However, a handful of Jedi, no matter how strong or righteous, was a far cry to the Order that had existed for millennia, and after much deliberation it was decided to form a Jedi Academy on the remote planet of D'Qar so that the next generation of Jedi could find their place in the Force. Luke Skywalker and the Jedi Knights beneath him would take it upon themselves to train the future of the Jedi so that peace would forever have a guardian in the Light. Currently he and his robot companion R2-D2 oversee the Jedi Academy alongside his apprentice Linea.
Skills:
    • Luke is a skilled duelist, having perfected his own variation of Form V as well as being proficient in many others.
    • Alternatively, Luke is a capable unarmed fighter and can shoot well enough.
    • His connection to the Force has no equal. He can utilize many abilities that would take others years to master.
    • Is a skilled starfighter pilot.
    • Claims to know 17 common languages including Basic, Huttese, and Shyriiwook.
Weaknesses:
In a twist of irony, Luke's biggest weakness is his unwavering compassion. A firm believer in redemption, and that most anyone can return from the path of the Dark Side, Luke has nearly lost his life on several occasions for allowing credible threats the chance to regain their strength, and although commendable this is likely to become a liability in the near future. Additionally, he refuses to kill unarmed/defeated opponents no matter how dangerous they may be.

Sounds good.

On another note, should the missions be named by what they entail (like in the game and as they currently are) or should they actually have titles? Is there a preference whatsoever?

Also, new poll is up because polls are fun.

Any and all aliens are welcomed within reason. But, given my general dislike of Ewoks, I'd prefer to avoid the teddy bears.
That's not an outright denial, just my own personal opinion.

I think I'll keep the same name I tend to use for all my characters in each version of this, but this time I'll actually bother with a new species. Might take a while to find one I'm happy with.

Name: Ignus
Age: 50
Gender: Male
Species: Southern Mustafarian

Appearance: Stands about 1.5 meters tall (4 ft 11 inches)
Image

Rank: Apprentice

Lightsaber: Lightsaber Pike, Yellow
Ship: N/A
Equipment:

Background: (Two paragraphs minimum.)
Born on Mustafar nearly 50 years ago in 35 BBY, Ignus is fairly young for a Mustafarian. His name means fire in basic, and is based on his home worlds heated state. Growing up, the techno union had a trade agreement with mustafar and were the main foreign contat for him and his area. When he was 6 he tamed a lava flea which would proceed to eat a small hole into the earth of his family dwelling that would serve as his and the fleas new living quarters. When he was 12, in 23 BBY, he was designated an adult and participated in a coming of age ceremony where he would jump over a lava fall while riding a flea and not wearing any protective armour.

He got involved in the workforce soon after his 12th birthday, and as with most of his race, he was involved in the heavy labour, mining the magma that would be sent to the techno union. He would get involved in guarding and the Union as well, as time allowed, to learn different aspects of the mining industry. In 19 BBY, while on shift, he witnessed the deaths of the Seperatist council from afar, as well as the fight between Obi-Wan and Skywalker, and Skywalkers retrieval by Palpatine. Mining, now for the Empire instead of the Techno Union, would continue to be the focus of his life until around 15 BBY.

In 15 BBY Ignus had saved enough credits, in the range of 146,987.2 credits, following 8 years of labour. He caught a ship off world and, joined the imperial navy. He moved to Coruscant to study engineering and architecture. After 5 years he graduated with his bachelors and started working in the Imperial engineering corps.

The Imperial engineering would be sent around 6 BBY to Mustafar where they would help construct Lord Vaders Castle which would be completed around 5 BBY. In this project Ignus's role was as a middleman. He took orders from his superiors and relayed them to his inferiors and fellow Mustafarians who also helped in the building effort. By 5 BBY his full time service was completed and he shifted into reserve duty.

He moved to Corellia and took a diploma in piloting and astronautical sciences. After graduating, he wanted to see more of the galaxy. His flea and him joined up with a passing circus and he performed around the outer rim as a fire swallower, and an animal tamer. He did this for 2 years, and near the end was also the designated Rancor trainer.

In 1 BBY he re-enlisted for a 2 year rotation with the Imperial Navy and was sent to help with the final stages of construction on the Death star. It would be completed in 0BBY, and he would become one of the Imperial Gunners involved with the project. That year would see him take some well timed vacations and out of office time. This is due to his being absent both for the destruction of Alderaan when he was participating in maintenance for Vaders Castle, and for the Death Stars Destruction as that week he was on vacation.

Following the Death Stars destruction he would sign up once more for 2 more 2 year terms in the Imperial Navy. This time he would once again try and assist with the construction of a Death Star. In 4 ABY the second Death Star was complete, and he would participate in the battle above endor. During the battle he operated a turret control station near the Death Star fusion core, and would witness the emperor burning up near as he fell into the shaft.

Ignus would escape from the exploding Death Star by taking off in an Imperial shuttle with a few other imperial soldiers staff and droids. In the escape attempt, they would use the hyperdrive to get to Coruscant. It would be on Coruscant that Ignus would serve out the remainder of his imperial service. Having nearly died, he would retire from the imperial navy.

Skills: Animal handling, Piloting, Engineering,
Weaknesses: Reach, Speed, Cold

Name: Linea
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Species: Icarii
Appearance:
A near-human, Linea stands 5'0" (152cm) and weighs 93 pounds (42k). Scrawny. Skin is a pale grey-blue. Has a youthful face that is more round than angular, sharp eyes reddish-brown in colour, with freckle-like splotches marking her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Has soft features. Looks tired. Deep-red hair is long and relatively straight with a slight wave.

Rank: Jedi Apprentice

Lightsaber: Training Lightsaber (Single, Blue)
Ship: - - -
Equipment: - - -

Personality: Blunt, Emotional, Impatient, Overreacts, Rude
Likes: Cute Animals, Food, Master Skywalker
Dislikes: the Empire, Vigorous Exercise
Fears: Knowing that she is the last of her people.

Background:
Linea was born on a dead planet. The Icarii Campaign in 3 BBY had devastated Vestar, a short yet brutal conflict between the indigenous Icarii and the Galactic Empire, a callous extermination that would end with the deployment of a biological agent that would kill nearly all life on the planet, a genocidal solution brought about by heavy Imperial casualties. Although most Icarii were killed outright, some, like Linea's mother, were fortunate enough to survive the initial deployment of the Imperial bioweapon if only due to genetic chance, location, and luck, but regardless the species was rendered virtually extinct with only a handful of survivors remaining, and these numbers would decline sharply in the coming months as long-term complications ravaged whatever was still alive on the planet's surface. Despite the odds, Linea was born five years after the destruction of her people, the only child to a small enclave, and likely the last child to be born on Vestar. Her father died sometime during the pregnancy.

Life after such a catastrophe was beyond difficult. The once vibrant ecosystem had been rendered near-desolate, shattered by the Empire. Fauna disappeared, food was scarce, and sickness ran rampant (an aftereffect of the bioweapon). The enclave of survivors would, for several years, struggle to make it just one more day if only to spite the Imperials that had brought ruin to their home, to their civilization, an oppressive bitterness that would lead the young Linea down a path twisted by hated. A hatred for the state of her world A hatred for an enemy she had never seen. A hatred that grew tenfold with the death of her mother from illness. The Icarii had long ago accepted their fate, but still their persisted, until eventually their numbers decreased to only a handful... to three individuals... to one.

In 11 ABY, Luke Skywalker would travel to Vestar, a wound in the Force, seeking understanding in the tragedy that had befallen the planet as a means to further his own training as a Jedi. A faint echo in the silence of the dead would lead Luke to discover Linea, recently the last of her kind, the others having recently perished, and after much persuasion the starving, sickly girl approached the Jedi of her own volition (after initially attacking the man with a rock and running away). Luke rescued the child, perhaps the last of her people, and would take her away from the dead planet that had so cruelly been broken underneath the evil of the Empire. A second chance. However, Linea had spent all her life in suffering, not knowing if she would see the light of tomorrow, and because of this a shroud of darkness has infected the very core of her being. The Jedi Master would set her down the path of Light, and although emotional, and prone to outbursts of anger, Linea has shown vast improvements, enough so to officially join the ranks of the Jedi, Luke's personal apprentice. The girl has already proven to be a difficult student, but should she find forgiveness, to let go of the anger, then maybe she will find balance.

Skills:
The Icarii were feared for their ability to survive dismemberment, a physiological trait that would lead to their initial success against Imperial stormtroopers. A heightened regeneration allows for Icarii to put themselves back together, however, this useful characteristic is not without flaws. Separated limbs (including the head) cannot survive for more than a few days before succumbing to basic needs (dehydration, starvation, exposure, etc.) and must be reattached as soon as possible. Detached limbs will remain unresponsive until neural pathways have been restored. If decapitated then she will need assistance.
Weaknesses:
Darkness has seeped its way into the heart of the girl. Linea cannot control her emotions very well. She has not yet forgiven the Empire for its deeds against Vestar (and by extension to her mother) and holds a general dislike for any individual associated with the Empire or Imperial Remnant, past or present. Additionally, Linea is sickly and cannot maintain long periods of activity. Specifically aerobics. Is not a skilled fighter, has a weak connection to the Force, and eats way too much despite her size.

The app is still unfinished (needs Skills/Weaknesses) but I see a few problems in the bio. The biggest issue would be that the Empire is decisively pro-human, and aliens, especially those that aren't humanoid, would probably have a hard time being accepted within the Empire as anything but slave labor. He'd never be anywhere near/on the Death Star let alone a gunner. Some Mustafarians were pro-Empire, and likely would have assisted the Empire on construction projects on Mustafar or providing ore, but that would probably be the extent of their experience with the Empire. Concerning his being an animal tamer, rancors aren't something you train, so that is unlikely. As for your lightsaber, Jedi Apprentices start with a loaner lightsaber so you'd probably have a standard lightsaber until making your own later. On a final note, and your app reminded me, please remove parenthesis and/or unused optional sections.

Ok. Thank you. I can look at changing some of my app then.

I had thought that as the lightsabers were borrowed, some of them might have come from the Jedi temple guards that used yellow lightsaber pikes. The rancor training was taken from the eu where Jaba had a handler for his Rancor, the circus horrificus had used an outlawed practice where twi’leks rode atop a Rancor, and the jungle Felucians were able to control Rancors.
It turns out there was also a Rodian that worked in imperial intelligence with access to classified materials in canon if that helps.

The Jedi Temple Guards would have been defunct 40 years ago (considering Order 66 and the Great Jedi Purge) so their equipment was likely confiscated and/or destroyed, and is unlikely to be in circulation. Non-Jedi at the D'Qar Academy (support staff, guards, etc.) would be Alliance/New Republic volunteers. Regardless, your Apprentice can make a saberstaff later during our field trip to Ilum. Concerning the Rancor training, I won't say impossible but no doubt would be a difficult task given the creature. Non-humanlike aliens would probably fare worse in the Empire than humanlike aliens, at the very least, and there would still be areas not even they would be allowed access to, such as the Death Star. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Would the Geonosians be enslaved and killed in this rp?
