Mariam ‘Mari’ Margaryan (Trailblazer)

It took every ounce of willpower to stop herself from wincing at Mina's fashion choices. Faded white skinny jeans with the green and white horizontally striped shirt, sure. A navy blue blazer on top of that? Ew. Navy blue and lime green did not go together, not at all. The wedges matched with the blazer, but once again they conflicted with the green and pairing all the navy with the white would just be slightly garish.

Nope. There was no way in hell she was wearing this eye-burning combination, even to her own not particularly competent eye for fashion.

"Nope, I don't think I've got anything like that." Mari shook her head. "Throw a few more combinations out. Like I said, if you're having trouble dealing with my mess of clothes, just pick what's most familiar to you out. We'll hit jackpot eventually, and we've got time to choose if you're cooking for the both of us."

"I see."

So she had failed. Her face betrayed nothing, but she went back to work silently.

Monochromatic always works. She methodically swept through the closet, and when she was done she had pulled out an outfit that fit her own style, and made her and Mari look similar without looking like freakish twins. If Mari doesn't like this one, then all hope is lost.

"Perhaps this is more acceptable."

Freak

Copper was already awake an hour early by the time the 8:00 announcement has been made. During that time, he was busying tuning his accordion that he brought from home. After testing it out by playing a few high and low notes, his stomach rumbled, signaling the time for lunch. Copper looked to his roommate, Issac, with anticipation after the announcement has been made. The idea of having a roommate who came from a coast of Great Britain amuses him as his own home was landlocked from any near large body of water.

"You heard the man!" sang Copper, playing a few notes on his instrument to go along with his words, "Let's eat some breakfast, Issac!" Putting down his accordion, Copper quickly checked the bathroom mirror to see if his purple tie was still straight. He still wore same color of clothes as yesterday but he didn't mind as there was hardly any speck or stain on his white shirt, green pants, or even his green vest.

As Copper was about to leave, he quickly remembered that he haven't cleaned out his
Image

Knowing the schedule of Thursday, he grinned as he thought he could kill two birds with one stone by cleaning it during combat class. Copper settled on grabbing his accordion and played "Drunken Sailor" down the halls. His skill at the instrument was impeachable and its well-timed notes can be heard pleasantly through the doors of his fellow peers.

There were already a handful of students already eating their morning meal and Copper made quite a sight expertly playing his accordion while flashing his biggest smile of the day. He stopped his music before he grabbed a plate of grilled bacon and cheese sandwiches. "Morning." cheered Copper as he bite large area out of the sandwiches he was eating.

"Bloody Fokkin-" Mumbled Issac as he was roused. His roommate was already up and about, so he got up and grabbed some clothes as quickly as possible. Entering the bathroom, he turned on the lights, blinking for a few seconds at the light. He then hastily changed into some Khakis, a blue shirt depicting a battle between The Kraken and The Leviathan, and finally a brown jacket, multiple patches sewn in indicating its age and well used nature.

After making himself breakfast, Issac sat by Copper and tried to make conversation. "So, what powers do you have. I myself am a Hydrokinetic with a pocket dimension. Well not really pocket because ARGUS did the math and said it was two times the size of Earth and hosts many varieties of Megafauna, but pocket as in I can easily reach it."

Mariam ‘Mari’ Margaryan (Trailblazer)

She glanced over the outfit. A tad conservative, but that was Mina in a nutshell really. White blouse and a black skirt with a pair of low black heels and a pair of silver necklaces.

"Yeah, that's more acceptable." Mari nodded her agreement as she slipped on the skirt, then the blouse and heels. Pair it with the pair of sunglasses from yesterday resting on her forehead since this was a sunny place, add the necklaces and done.

Problem one, done. Problem two, breakfast.

"Well, with that done, let's go get breakfast, shall we?" Mari smiled, grabbing Mina by the wrist. "And you can show me your cooking which you've so generously offered me."

Nate Peterson, aka Prophet

Nate wasn't sleeping well. His dreams were intermittent with visions, his vision would turn blue and he saw terrible scenes. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was terrible. There were bodies everywhere, thousands, millions, they covered the ground. Some were crushed by rubble, other just lay in the street. What terrified him the most was the fact that he knew them. Some of them. His new classmates were dead, all around him. Then the vision changed again; he saw himself, laying on the ground clinging to life.

All night his visions changed. Till they cleared and settled on one scene: the school on fire, burning to the ground. Their teachers were defeated by some shadowy figures walking off into the distance. He saw someone else slumped over against the wall of the house. He couldn't see their face, but it was a guy with dark hair, and he was missing an arm.

With that, Nate jerked awake in a cold sweat with blue flames in his eyes. He covered his eyes until his powers faded, and he just sat there taking heaving breaths. His heart was racing and sweat made his hair stick to his head. "The fuck was that?" he whispered to himself. The last time he had dreams like that he was just a kid... before his parents were killed... The PA system beeped to life, and John delivered his message. Nate's nerves were still too fried to get started, he just laid his head against the wall, sitting upright in his bed. He glanced over and hoped that he hadn't woken Sam up...

Whitney Snyder, Aka Cinder

Whitney groaned with the start of the day and practically fell out of bed. "Do you want the bathroom first Molly? I don't think I can make myself wake up yet." With no timely reply from her roommate, Whitney got up and staggered to the bathroom. She turned the faucet as hot as it would go, but she couldn't really feel it. Her skin was bomb-proof and it just made the water feel lukewarm.

"Hmm. Better make a good impression on the first day. She put on one of her better pairs of jeans and her best red blouse.

"You almost ready to head down, Molly?"

Honesty, Copper was a tad bit surprised (though his face didn't show it) that someone wanted to talk to him even if it was from a roommate.

"The nouns you just said to me," answered Copper, taking a bite out of another sandwich, "I cannot comprehend, but I must admit that they do sound exquisite in articulation. As for me, I am an electromaster, but of a different form. You see, my electricity cannot be produced as fast as a normal electromaster so my powers has evolved into becoming more a leech of power. It is better called Sapping, and I can absorb an indefinite amount of electricity, whether it be from a battery, generator, or even from another electromaster."

Copper began eating his third sandwich before continuing the conversation, "I can also shooting lightning bolts from my fingers, though they are not as impressive when they are just 1/5 the power of the ones found in nature. But 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit is nothing to ignore when it strikes the human body. "

"Of course."

By the time they got to the kitchen it was 8:10, but that was no issue. Her plan was simple: kimchi jjigae with a side of rice. Surprisingly, she found all of the ingredients she would need, as if the people in charge knew there would be someone Korean at this school. Wait, of course they knew, they had invited her here. She quickly found everything she would need, and got to work. She was methodical, precise, the antithesis to everything most chefs were. She immediately cleaned up when she finished with something, never spilled, and didn't wear an apron yet kept her clothes perfectly clean. She was a machine, working fast but with absolute grace and precision. There were no wasted movements, as if she had done this a thousand times. And she had. Every day she had cooked for her mother, and this was what she ate every morning while Mina ate her lettuce and carrots. The rice cooked, the kimchi warmed, the pork boiled. She finished a little over twenty minutes later, and within a minute the last pots and pans were cleaned and set out to dry.

She had prepared three servings, and gave one in a perfectly sized white porcelain bowl to Mari. She coated it over the top with a thin layer of chilli powder and a sprinkling of salt. She managed to find some stainless steel chopsticks and set them next to the bowl. She got another bowl out and precisely scooped a lump of cooked rice into it, setting it before her as well.

"I hope you enjoy."

Mina then set about eating her own lettuce leaves and carrot.

Mariam ‘Mari’ Margaryan (Trailblazer)

Mina had taken somewhere around twenty minutes to finish... Whatever she was cooking up in the kitchen, and so by the time Mina finally returned from the kitchen she was famished, her stomach audibly rumbling as Mina wandered over with several bowls worth of food. Huh, she really had gone all out with this. Mina set the bowls down on the table, but it seemed she wasn't quite done preparing the food, coating the bowl she placed in front of her with a small layer of chili powder and some salt on top of the contents of one of the bowls before setting down a pair of chopsticks next to it.

Well, that was awkward. She didn't know how to use chopsticks, being more accustomed to the knife and fork, but Mina couldn't know that. She peered into the bowl, eyeing the contents. One was rice, which she knew what to do with thankfully. The one in front of her was a stew of some form that she didn't recognise, but it smelled fairly good and it looked like there was pork in there in addition to some form of vegetables. It smelled fairly nice, however, and so she picked up a knife and fork from the table.

"Sorry, I don't know how to use chopsticks." Mari apologised as she began to eat, using her fork to pick out the vegetables and meat. Huh. This was actually pretty nice. She continued to eat, alternating between the stew and the soup. Yup, pretty damn nice. After a few minutes of happily tucking away at her food, Mari finished with a satisfied sigh, placing her cutlery down in the bowl to signal she'd finished.

"That was some pretty nice food Mina." She declared, letting out a barely-stiffed hiccup. "Never had Korean food before, but even I can tell you're a bit of a master in the kitchen." She glanced at Mina's own bowl. "Why didn't you prepare any for yourself though? Now I feel guilty for eating all your work while you ate none of it."

"Electrokinetic, fascinating." Said Issac. "Anyways, Hydrokinetic means that I can control water in various states." The water in his cup rose out of it and formed a sphere before lowering back down. "Even more interesting is the power sapping, I don't think that any known Electrokinetics. The lightning is, of course, an impressive feat even if its not as powerful as ones found in nature."

"I have never actually had what I have made before. As far back as I can remember I have had lettuce and carrots in the morning. Then half a grapefruit and a glass of special protein drink for lunch, and if I did well training that day I was allowed to have celery as well as a slice of tofu and a piece of lettuce. I enjoy cooking for you though. This is what I make mother every day for her morning meal, and I am glad to be able to share it with you. Mother would absolutely hate you, with your 'slovenly ways and poor grace', but I think we may be good friends."

Mina smiled softly and took Mari's empty dishes, quickly and expertly washing them and putting them away. She then puts away the cutlery as well, and places the chopsticks back where she got them from.

"If you would like, during our midday meal I could teach you how to use chopsticks."

Sam had slowly started to awaken after Nate had gotten up, uttered some incoherent mumbling, and went back to sleep quietly. In his black T-shirt and green boxers, he looked a decent amount more boyish than usual, especially with mussed up hair. It was apparent that Sam was a bit of a heavy sleeper, but a quiet one, at least, as light, almost inaudible breaths slowly crept from his mouth.

Then the announcement rang. Moaning in slight discomfort, Sam brought himself up with utmost discontent, and slowly trudged to the bathroom before going through his morning hygienic routine. After a nice, warm shower, Sam was more awake, and after he got out from the shower and put on his outfit for the day, he exited the bathroom only to find Nate sitting up against the wall, seemingly lost in thought. Sam threw his stuff on his bed before walking over and plopping down next to Nate on his bed.

"Hey," he said softly, in a worried tone. "You alright?"
__________________________________

Charles opened his eyes about an hour early from the announcement. He probably only had four, maybe five hours of sleep. He wasn't entirely sure when he faded. Quietly as he could, he got freshened up for the day, putting on a tight black muscle shirt and black jeans, as well as his red and white high top Converses, one of three pairs of insanely large footwears he had brought with him. He crept out of the room so as not to wake his roommate before heading to get a breath of outside air.

This was a very strange place to him. He did not like being inside. Nor did he like crowds. He feared that he'd endure both of these things here. But he supposed he could endure these people. Most of them seemed nice enough.

Most.

He wasn't sure if he had any goals. He wasn't sure he wanted to be here. Doubts and fears fluttered through his mind like moths around a dying light. Why was he even here in the first place? To be exploited? No. The people in charge didn't seem like they were those kinds of people. Right? But what if they weren't even in charge? Charles waved these thoughts off. He was here, now. No going back. He would see what the end of the road had to offer. Maybe a solution to his constant unease. He could hope.

"Huh." It wasn't really a reaction that did justice to Mina admitting she'd never actually eaten what she'd made before and that she'd only ever had lettuce and carrots and morning, and then half a grapefruit and a protein shake for lunch. That... To her, that sounded like starvation rations, but Mina seemed oddly fine with it. Probably because that was all she'd known. "Next time, make some for yourself, okay? You deserve some of the fruits of your labour."

And then Mina said her mother would hate her because of her 'slovenly ways and poor grace'. Mari smiled at that. Mina's mother didn't seem like the nicest person in the world, so if she'd have hated her, she'd take that as a compliment. She said that they may be good friends, and Mari could only smile and nod to that as Mina smiled and gathered the plates, dishes and cutlery, taking them away to be washed before swiftly returning and offering to teach her how to use chopsticks at lunch.

"Yeah, sure. I'd like that." Mari smiled at Mina. "Can you teach me how to do your whole walk thing too? It's quite pretty."

Nate sat for a little bit with a blank stare, not acknowledging Sam. Then he looked like he was trying to form words before he cleared his throat and finally started. "I can... see the future... sometimes." He said quietly. "Just little flashes. Nothing solid, and they aren't exact. They're symbolic sometimes. But this time it was..."

He trailed off for a second before hitting the back of his head against his wall and taking a ragged breath. "The last time something like this happened, my parents... They..." Nate dropped his head to his hands and looked like he was barely keeping it together. "...I killed them, Sam. It was my fault. My fucking powers..." Nate looked at his hands and they were enveloped with blue energy. "I hate these stupid powers; they took everything from me."

Nate extinguished his hands and looked at Sam. "I'm sorry, you shouldn't have to listen to my pity party." Nate swung his legs out from under the covers on the side of the bed opposite Same as not to disturb him, and started walking to the bathroom.

Mina wasn't sure what to think about eating the fruits of her own labour. Something about food and the thought of eating it made her feel unpleasant sensations in her stomach, ghost pains. Her routine was safe, fine, but eating other foods was just out of the question. But still, she stiffly nodded and listened, as a good daughter does.

And then talking about her walk as pretty was . . . it meant a lot. Her mother had always pressured her to walk with more grace and rhythm. She would never be a champion if she walked like a pregnant ox. She had never seen her walk as pretty, and it seemed odd to think of teaching something so second nature.

"I am not sure that my walk is something that can be taught from lessons. I learned to do this after years of training to be a gymnast, learning grace and skill, perfect timing and elegance. Stepping lightly and fluidity of motion, while retaining the rigidity of formality. It is all a careful act, learned through living it. But remember the immortal words of the fabulous Coco Chanel: 'Elegance is refusal'. You don't need to change yourself to be elegant. Embracing who you are is true elegance. Refusing to bend the knee to others in the face of ridicule is the strength you find within yourself, greater than any physical power. You are the only one whose opinion matters. So keep your chin held high and never give in. You are you, and that is beautiful."

Mina stepped from behind the counter and crisply turned to Mari, her expression neutral. "Shall we get to class early?"

Mariam ‘Mari’ Margaryan (Trailblazer)

"I can at least try though, no?" Mari shrugged as Mina said that her walk wasn't something that could be taught, explaining how she'd learned it and then offering a rather poetic explanation of how it worked. She couldn't help but feel a tiny bit jealous of Mina's grace and elegance, even as Mina offered some consolation of her own, saying that she didn't actually need to change to be elegant.

"And besides." Mari smiled at Mina back across the counter. "I might learn my own version or whatever." Mina stepped out from behind the counter, turning to her, her expression neutral before suggesting they go to class early.

"I see no reason not to." Mari nodded her agreement. "Lead on, I haven't really had much of an opportunity to explore the whole building yet and using my power for this would just be, well, overkill."

Joseph Decker, Aka Arsenal

"I'm good, thanks," Joseph replied to Nick's offer. He continued sipping his coffee. He was half-hoping Whitney would show up, but didn't look like she made her way down yet. The cafeteria was slowly starting to fill up, so Joseph decided to peace out before it got too busy. He walked back up the stairs to the main floor. He happened to look outside and saw his roommate. Feeling a sudden call to comradery, Joseph decided to head out and finally talk with his bunk buddy.

He opened the door and walked over to where Charles was standing. "What are doing out here? Don't like the people?"

Together they walked, falling in step next to each other. She could feel Mari mimicking her walking style, like fluid water mixed with the precision of a well oiled machine, but could tell it was hard for the girl who usually sped everywhere or clomped around. You could tell a lot about a person, even their nationality, by the way they walked. Mari was clearly an American. Still, she did a decent job. Her steps were in rhythm, though she stepped too heavily and swayed her body too much. She was full of life, not constrained with the immense discipline Mina had.

They arrived at their first class early, before the instructor had arrived.

"It would appear we are the first to arrive. Fascinating. While we have the time, what is your life story? Is this not what girls discuss when alone? Excuse me, but I am not well versed in these areas of social experience."

Mina stood still, as always, her feet carefully placed and her hands perfectly folded in front of her, waiting for Mari to explain what girls did when alone.

"Fancy that, eh?" smirked Copper when Issac explained what Hydrokinetic is, "Theoretically, no other electromasters can defeat me since I will keeping absorbing their attacks." When he saw Issac form a ball of water out of his own cup, Copper was struck with an idea of an old trick. "Lightning bolts aren't the only thing I can do out of my fingers." he laughed, holding up his index finger to form a small bright ball of electricity. "This is the closest thing I can do to make ball lightning, but unfortunately it is rather slow as a projectile." Copper's attempt of an electrical sphere, whose diameter is that of a quarter, rotated around his head like the Moon orbiting the Earth. It even left trails of hot air around Copper's head like the rings of Saturn. After a while, the electrical ball dissipates, reabsorb back due Copper's powers.

A hand grabbed Nate's own, somewhat small, pale and soft to touch. Sam turned him around before holding both his hands in each who's own.

"Hey," Sam said intently. "You stop feeling bad. Start feeling good. Okay? Even when this wears off."

Sam gave a warm, friendly grin, holding Nate's hands for a decent amount of time before letting go and going off to find someone else to pester.

Charles turned his head around to see his roommate walking out to him.

"What are doing out here?" Joseph questioned. "Don't like the people?"

"It's more like I'm not good with people," Charles responded, shrugging. "Socialising isn't my specialty."

Charles stretched out to his full, massive height.

"But, I suppose I'll endure. I'm kinda a strong guy. I'm sure I can handle it. I'm just no good with strangers."

Room #2
Molly Shanahan (aka "Jinx")

IOTA Corp wrote:Whitney Snyder, Aka Cinder

Whitney groaned with the start of the day and practically fell out of bed. "Do you want the bathroom first Molly? I don't think I can make myself wake up yet." With no timely reply from her roommate, Whitney got up and staggered to the bathroom. She turned the faucet as hot as it would go, but she couldn't really feel it. Her skin was bomb-proof and it just made the water feel lukewarm.

"Hmm. Better make a good impression on the first day. She put on one of her better pairs of jeans and her best red blouse.

"You almost ready to head down, Molly?"

Even though the bed was a little stiff for her likings, Molly had fallen asleep pretty much instantly and had slept like a rock. Not the spoken words of her roommate, nor the falling water of the shower, and not even the horrendous music of a lunatic's accordion in the hallway could rouse the slumbering girl from her rest. Forget the loudspeaker even. As if that could wake one who slept like the dead. If the dead breathed involuntarily, that is.

She became awake all by herself, though in that exact state of incoherent thought, one might be hesitant to call it awake. Slowly, senses came to her. Somewhat dim light. Sounds. Sounds meant something. Morning? Morning it was. Yawning, Molly sat up and stretched. Huh. Was that the shower? Oh yeah. New home and a roommate. With nothing better to do, Molly lay back down. And thought.

This morning, they had what appeared to be a two hour course of ethics, law and Argus. Boring. What a waste of time. But even the thought of sitting at a desk and trying to keep herself awake as whoever was teaching it droned on about case studies was an absolute yawnfest, at least Molly felt at the least non-threatened by that. Combat training on the other hand? When there are exploding girls and weirdos who can make electricity tingle off their hair, or girls who can make zombie-things that are mostly teeth? All she could do was make things switch places, right?

When Whitney got out and got dressed, Molly took her turn getting ready. She took a quick shower, and came out to find some clothes, her towel wrapped around her. She settled on a nice royal blue and purple cute top, that went well with white shorts. Feeling a little uncomfortable at getting changed with another person in the room, Molly went back into the bathroom, the fan still running to vent the steam. She put them on, then brushed her hair, added a little makeup - just some blush and mascara - and after a final check in the half-fogged over mirror, nodded. She was ready.

So responding to her roommate who had also gotten ready, Molly nodded. "Yeah. Let's do it."

They meandered their way down to the kitchen area, fashionably late. Others had begun eating. Molly saw a few people trying their hand at cooking things. She settled on a fresh banana and a yogurt, with a piece of cheese for protein and a glass of skim milk. She wasn't the kind to eat much, and she really didn't want to get her "college experience" (as she thought of it) off on the wrong foot, chomping down heaping portions of food just because it was available. What she had would tide her over.

She then looked for an open spot, and after ruling out the table with the weird electrical-copper haired guy (who she still hadn't heard what his name was), and feeling a twinge of guilt at the thought of sitting at the table where the proud and unfazed Chinese-style foreign exchange girl sat, Molly pointed to a table near one of the chefs - a boy making what looked like crepes. "That ok? Maybe he can join us when he's done?"

The Clockwork Circus - Welcome to a steampunk RP rife with crime, gangs, beggars, and starting off as the lowest of the low, in the lowest socio-economic place there is.

"Fascinating" said Issac as he watched the ball lightning. He finished the last of his light breakfast before getting up. "Well I'm off to class early, care to join me?' He asked. A realization hit him. "Oh I forgot, one sec." He opened a small portal on the table, what looked like small foamy waves cresting the sides. He pulled a piece of meat out of his pocket and tossed it through. "Rusty, Brekkie's ready." He said to the portal. If one was too look through they'd see what looked like a rusted metal platform part of some larger structure that was out of view. A large Seagull-esque creature entered view and snapped up the meat hungrily. "Good boy." He said before closing the portal. "Now that that's settled, I'll be off." And with a brief turn, Issac started walking towards the exit.

Nicholas Fowler, aka Hades

With a flourish, he flipped the two crepes he'd made from the skillets to a large plate. A heaping of chopped fruit and two generous dollops of whipped cream later, both were wrapped around themselves and Nick could comfortably say they were done. First time really cooking for more than just myself, he thought, frowning. Although he'd made many a late-night (or late-morning) meal for himself back in Florida, he'd never cooked anything for anyone but himself, and even then, never this complex before. But his power made it all but certain that his would be the best crepes for thousands of miles in any direction. Grabbing one plate in each hand, his head scanned the countertop one final time before turning to the rows of tables before him. His power was a frequent annoyance when taking in a great deal of visual information, supplying him with unwanted details: measurements, probabilities, object history. It used to be so bad that each leap his mind could make upon further investigation, it would. Now, practice had dulled the immediate extrasensory input to the bare minimum facts. Those he hadn't surpressed, mainly because he knew they could save his life in a pinch.

Placing the two plates on the kitchen island before him, he retrieved a large blue tray from underneath the counter and put both plates on it. Grabbing one of the already-poured glasses of apple juice, he slid his other hand beneath the tray. Getting a solid grip, he lifted it out in front of him and began walking around the counter, swerving the corner in the process. Again glancing back to make sure he'd adequately cleaned up his mess, he sighed in relief and turend his attention back to seating availability. Two girls he presumed were his age sat in the table closest to the kitchen island he'd just rounded, and, desperate for an excuse to make friends — or possibly more, the blond seemed to be his type — in this very new and very strange place, he approached the table.

Clearing his throat, he cocked an eyebrow and smiled warmly. "Mind if I sit here?"

Mary Santiago
Windtalker

Things between Mary and Jess had become strained, after their initial time at the pool had gone so well. During the evening orientation and after, they hardly spoke at all. Mary had decided that Jess still needed time to herself, so she tried not to be a burden to the other girl.

As they went to bed, Mary almost cried again for loneliness, but kept silent and any tears she might have shed found their way into Chahałheeł's fur.

Now, it was morning and Mary felt she had the strength to face the new day. Earlier, she considered that she may have been too forward. Maybe she'd crossed too many boundaries and her own insecurities had subconsciously made her too aggressive?

As she saw Jess, laying peacefully, in bed, Mary didn't know if the girl was awake or asleep. Still, Mary whispered, "I hope I didn't hurt you."

Then Mary softly, silently made her way into the bathroom for a morning shower. Chahałheeł remained, he didn't care much for showers.

"Most certainly!" answered Copper, peering into the portal to see the most prehistoric seagull he has ever seen, "And I won't question whatever that thing is." Putting away his plate, Copper then picked up his instrument and followed Issac to the morning classroom, playing an accordion cover of the song "Marble Machine" on the entire way there. The first official day of this school had put a giant smile on his face.
