You do realize that Ormata is not the OP, so you don't have to regard his take on your app. My guess is that the OP was busy IRL and just hadn't gotten to it yet.

Which is why I didn't say "No" outright to be honest. But no, I'm not an OP, not a Co-Op, and not even a player yet. I just took a vague guess that the application wouldn't be accepted, if anything on the basis that people don't get knighthoods for murder, self defense or not. So no, don't take my word as the truth of all things.

Co-OPs and OP are looking at apps right now. We'll get to yours in a moment. If we see anything that needs changing, we'll TG you.

Hi, I'm a Co-OP. I know your app is a work in progress but I'm just gonna talk about your powers, since they're an issue. Okay, so, basically everyone in the Academy has a "niche". Their powers aren't all encompassing, and they have certain weaknesses within their powers that can be exploitable. Your "drawbacks and limitations" are just...his power's limits. They aren't real limitations. No real hero is going to be stopped by "bruises". Instead of trying to spam out a list of great powers, I would recommend fine tuning your character and giving him 2 or 3 powers that you've really thought out and can put some numbers into.

Name: Emily Mahr Sharpe
Alias: N/A
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 18
Build: 5' 1"
Sexual orientation: Straight

Powers:
  • Close wounds- Emily can reach out and bolster a target's life force, closing wounds, and effectively healing them. She also seems resistant to Death herself
  • Command Spirit- Can manipulate the life force of others if not interrupted. This also applies to limited control over the undead, ghosts, etc. Can also prevent a person from dying even if their wounds would normally be fatal
  • Pierce the veil- Has a sixth sense for the supernatural
  • Death Touch- yep.

Drawbacks and Limitations:
  • Healing drains Emily, and the worse the damage is, the more of her own life force it takes to heal. She also needs to be close to the target she is healing. It is also unknown at what extent of damage she can self-heal.
  • Her control of the undead is limited by her willpower and concentration.
  • Death Touch takes time to be 'fatal' and doesn't permanently kill the target. Does not work on immortals.

Equipment: N/A

Personality: Reserved with her emotions, Emily won't say much until she feels comfortable with the people and the situation. She won't go looking for a fight, but she isn't one to back down if challenged. Emily tends to hide how she's feeling, putting up an exterior to keep her self from being hurt.

Nationality: American
Hometown: Denver, Colorado
Bio: Emily grew up with her mother and stepfather in Denver living an ordinary life, completely ignorant of her birth father's nature or her own powers. But then Mastermind committed the greatest atrocity in history. When Emily woke up, she was surrounded by hundreds of dead bodies, and her world came crashing down when she saw her mother laying on the ground, her neck bent at an odd angle. She just sat down and sobbed for hours, no one came, staying away from the mass of dead bodies. Emily saw flickers of light around the corpses, but she just passed it off as hallucinations. Eventually, the sound of footsteps approached through the darkness and a man with unnaturally white hair stopped a few feet away and called her name. Her face met his and she saw a darkness inside him. She couldn't explain it, but she knew it was malevolent, yet she didn't feel the need to run. Then he said he was Justin Mahr, her father...

Skills: No combat skills to speak of, but her healing powers don't require skills.
Flaws: Had no intention of being a hero, but is at the Academy out of necessity.

Name: Project 119
Alias: Hector Hammurabi
Appearance:
Image
Image

Gender: Male
Age: 20
Build: 6'5, 256 lbs
Sexual orientation: Straight* (Love ya Sam)

Powers:
  • Darkness Embodiment: Hector's body has been altered, changing the structure to be similar to the element of darkness. Hector is capable of embodying complete darkness, changing into a form that appears as a pitch black silhouette. In this form, Hector is immune to normal damage but at the same time cannot interact with the rest of the world, mainly because of not possessing an actual physical body per say in this state. Hector's movement is enhanced in this state also, as he is able to manipulate his dark form and move while in this form. He can turn into a cloud of darkness, for example, and move to a different location before returning to his original form.
  • Dark Energy: Hector's offensive arsenal comes from the use of dark energy, which will act as a disintegrating acidic liquid and when used on objects, will corrode and eat away at them. The energy can have the same corrosive effect on humans, but can also be absorbed. Causing someone to absorb dark energy is a slower and more deliberate process that involves being within a foot of the victim and making skin to skin contact, but when absorbed, the energy will incite madness and erratic behavior in a mind without protection.
  • Dark Puppetry: Hector can attempt to use dark energy to force himself into someone else's mind. This typically works better on those who already have a high amount of "inner darkness", although it's not always a requirement. Once someone has absorbed the corrupting influence of the dark energy, which wears away at unprotected minds and can cause madness, Hector must win and maintain control of their mind to continue acting as puppeteer for their actions. The more dark energy someone has absorbed, the more control Hector will have.

Drawbacks and Limitations: Hector's darkness embodiment still follows the laws of physics, at least to an extent. It doesn't allow him to go through walls, specifically. It also takes some time to shift between dark and human forms, depending on the starting form. A spread out cloud of darkness takes longer to transform than a more compressed cloud in the shape of a person. When transferring dark energy into someone, Hector also can't multitask and therefore is vulnerable to other attacks. It also takes time to transfer the energy, meaning it can't really be done mid battle, but rather once the opponent is already defeated.

Additionally, it can't be done from range and requires skin to skin contact. For puppetry, Hector must use dark energy to break someone's mind before they become a puppet, and even after that, it takes effort to maintain control, mainly right after control is taken in the first place. The strong minded and the strong willed are less vulnerable.

Equipment: Hector's abilities are more effective than many weapons for him, but to avoid relying on them completely, he carries a traditional scimitar and a smaller but similarly curved knife that can be concealed if necessary.

Personality: One of the toughest and more unfazeable members of the academy is Hector, mainly because of his background and the fact that he's been forced to be an adult for much longer than most at his age. Hector is a bold type, but at the same time, isn't the most trusting person or the type to rely on others heavily. After all, others haven't usually been there to help when it's needed. Still, Hector has been conditioned for battle, for one side or the other. If there's one defining trait for him, it's his willingness to run towards danger to complete a goal, with almost reckless abandon.

Nationality: Syrian
Hometown: Damascus
Bio: Hector's story begins in Syria, before the Civil War put the country on the map for westerners. As a child growing up in Damascus, Hector found himself being sold off to a group of traffickers in exchange for cash. It was a result of growing up in one of the poorest parts of the city and having parents that lacked a way out, really. Hector doesn't actually remember that part of his childhood, instead remembering the things that happened after the sale. He was taken across the border to Iraq, and the traffickers were paid by the Iraqi government to hand over the young boy. As it turned out, they wanted him for the purposes of experimentation, and kidnapping their own citizens for it would be a more risky endeavor than contacting foreign traffickers.

Things weren't that bad at first. Hector didn't know the details of what was going on, but he was assigned a number that was tattooed onto his arm and the accommodations weren't that bad. It was better than home, anyway. Things weren't that out of the ordinary around the facility until the doctors started coming in and doing frequent examinations, and then issuing injections and various kinds of pills. It turns out everyone doesn't survive the treatments that Hector was given, but he was one of the lucky ones. The process went about as well as it could for him. His body reacted well to the chemicals, and from a young age, he showed metahuman abilities.

Everything got worse, however, when Hector was thrown into the mix against some of the others who had survived the process of gaining powers. The training was competitive and dangerous, and Hector had a harder time staying at the top of this group of kids. It turned out they were here to become a special forces unit for the Iraqi military. At the age of fifteen, Hector was involved in his first live fire raid against a jihadist cell, using his powers to help the team complete the objective. There would be more like that over the next year, but it wasn't the life that Hector wanted. After all, he had no loyalty to the country that he hadn't even been born in, that he was only living in because the traffickers had sold him there.

The staff at the facility underestimated just how powerful Hector really was, and he was able to turn one guard into a puppet, causing the man to gun down the other guards with an AK-74 before opening the door to the main holding area. In the chaos, Hector slipped out, and was again able to use his powers to move quickly and escape the complex entirely. At sixteen, he was walking free and traveled west of Iraq, to Jordan. There, he took on the name Hector and kept a roof over his head by acting as a strongman for whoever needed to hire one, his powers making up for his young age. It wasn't easy work, but it at least gave him more than he'd ever had in his life in terms of having somewhere to stay and having possessions of his own. But after hearing the reports of a young unsanctioned metahuman in Jordan, ARGUS came knocking, and for the first time, Hector found himself working with people who are... Fairly more legitimate.

Skills: Hector has been trained in a couple of martial arts, namely Muay Thai and judo. Because of his upbringing, he also has a decent understanding of most military related combat skills, from shooting guns to setting up equipment. Not that all of it is useful to a superhero, but if a war ever breaks out...
Flaws: Hector's over recklessness can be a problem for both himself and teammates who are dragged into bad situations because of him. He's not the type that's a good estimator of how strong he is compared to others. Additionally, his distrust means that he sometimes ends up in tough situations with little help to get out of them, outside of just isolating himself socially.

Regenerative healing drains his energy unless touching a decent amount of water and even then it takes time and focus.

I'm not the OP or a Co-OP, so this advice is unofficial, but you should probably go into more detail on the powers. Check out the accepted applications for examples. Just comparing him to Percy Jackson doesn't really say much to tell how strong he is or what he's good at, especially if someone isn't familiar with the character you referenced. You also might want to focus on one or two of the abilities instead of mix and matching different ones, but I don't know what Cy will say for this.

VILLAIN APPLICATION

MR. BLYTH

Name: Mr. Blyth, Blaidd Ffawr Ddrwg (Blyth Fowr Drueg)
Aliases: The Big Bad Wolf, The Collection Agent.
Appearance:
Image
Image
Gender: Male
Age: Forty-ish
Build: Tallish and muscular.
Sexual orientation: Pan
Powers: Glamorous Scenery (Illusion with area effect), Conjure Out of Thin Air (Near By Extra-Dimensional Storage), Glamorous Torture (Mental Illusion of Excruciating and Immobilizing Pain), Open and Close Faerie Gates, Quickened Healing (Regeneration), Speed of Hand (perform two hand maneuvers in the time a normal human could do one), Un-Aging,Veil of Invisibility (Invisible to all but magically aided sight), Weeds of Glamour (Illusion Disguise), Will O’ Wisp (one or more dim and floating balls of light).

Drawbacks and Limitations:
Conjure Out of Thin Air is limited to seven items, no larger than 3 cubic feet.
Glamorous Scenery is dispelled if the user is in contact with iron or steel.
Glamorous Torture only works if the subject is under contract to the user.
Open and Close Faerie Gates is instantaneous and the gate is open to all for one minute.
Quickened Healing does not work against wounds inflicted by iron/steel.
Speed of Hand lasts for two minutes, after which an hour must pass before re-use.
Un-aging as long as he can spend one day in Faerie per week.
Veil of Invisibility is dispelled if the user is in contact with iron or steel.
Weeds of Glamour only works on self and is dispelled by contact with iron or steel.
Will O’ Wisp balls are dispelled if the individual ball is in contact with iron or steel.

Typical Equipment: Bow (1 item), Quiver of Seven Arrows with Enchanted Bronze Arrowheads (defeat all non-iron/steel armor)(1 item), Enchanted Bronze Dagger (defeat all non-iron/steel armor)(1 item), Briefcase and typical contents (1 item), Box of Seven potions (1 item), Map of Gates between Earth and Faerie (1 item), Emergency Faerie Gate (1 Item), Coach and Matched Pair of Faerie Horses (often disguised as a limosine).

Bio: Mr. Blyth has been making contracts with humans and tempting them to come into Faerie for hundreds of years. Most contracts are payable on completion of the bargain, but some can be made for a term of time, not exceeding seven years. He does this for his Queen and to help the Faerie realm pay the Infernal Tithe. By his own choice, he is estranged from his wife and two children (who he also pays the tithe for). In Faerie, he can sell human contracts to other Fae.

Skills: Archery, Bargaining, Boxing, Deception & Half Truths, Etiquette, Fashion Sense, Legerdemain (Slight of Hand), Melee Weapons.
Resources: Mr. Blyth has a very comfortable amount of personal wealth. He has contacts on both Earth and in Faerie that owe him ‘favors’. He has a commission as a Queen’s officer and may use his troops in the service of Faerie. He also has contacts with a number of mercenary companies, both Earthly and Fae.
Flaws: Cannot tell an outright lie, Contact with iron/steel causes pain and restraints of iron/steel prohibit his use of faerie magic.

Aditional Info: Eats live small creatures and has been known to eat an occasional human. Like to play with his food. Very concerned with his personal honor and the honor of Faerie.

Name: Anastasia Emily Block
Alias: Sparrow
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 20
Build: Light muscular build, 5'10, weighs 148 pounds, weightlifts daily, including cardio and yoga
Sexual orientation: Heterosexual

Powers:
Chaos Magic and Dark Energy: Ability to manipulate dark energy and chaos magic to form objects, weapons, grip objects or people with her powers and either move them, throw them, or tear them apart.

Telepathy: Utilizing telepathy drains Sparrow faster than Chaos Magic and Dark Energy do. The ability to read the minds of others is extremely exhausting to her untrained body. Her father was training her to use Telepathic Cloak, which was the ability to mask her powers and thoughts from other mutants with like abilities, though it proved too difficult for her body and mind to endure. For now, her telepathic levels are basic, sticking to the ability to read minds for a short period.

Martial Arts: Anastasia has successfully learned Aikido, Ninjitsu, Krav Maga, and Stick Fighting.

Drawbacks and Limitations: Because her powers are unrefined and untrained, Anastasia cannot manipulate her powers for long. She cannot manifest her powers for longer than thirty seconds before having to stop or suffer symptoms of Chronic fatigue syndrome, which is a debilitating disorder characterized by extreme fatigue or tiredness that doesn't go away with rest and can't be explained by an underlying medical condition. The symptoms last from days to weeks and continued use of her power can be fatal.

Equipment:
Sparrowings: An improved and compact version of the Owlwings used by her father, Richard Block, during his days of crime fighting against the Syndicate in Seattle. The Wings deploy from a backpack on her back and attach to small couplets on her wrists that allow periods of gliding. Combining her powers with the Sparrowings can accelerate her up to 230 miles per hour in a ten second burst, making it easy to escape or quickly arrive at a scene.
Talons: These weapons are based on a catspaw type system. The Talons are sheathed within gloves and can be quickly deployed to form razor-sharp talons made of tungsten carbide. The Talons are used for attack and defense when her powers become too taxing for her.
Staff: Equipped to the backside of her belt, the staff is made of weighted graphene and collapses to the size of 5 inches. It can be electrified to all sides of the staff aside for the handle.
Grappling Gun: The same grappling gun used by Iron Owl, this is used in times of dire need when she cannot reach higher surfaces with her powers or her Sparrowings.

Personality: Sparrow can be serious in battle, and goofy when hanging out with friends. Being an unseasoned and inexperienced mutant, she takes matters lightly when she can, perhaps too lightly.

Nationality: American
Hometown: Portland, Maine
Bio: Anastasia's powers manifested randomly at the age of three when she pointed at the family cat after it scratched her, the purple energy flowing around the cat and thrusting it out of the window. Her parents, Richard and Serena Block, witnessed it. Her father, being an enhanced superhero, became very interested in enhancing these powers, although deathly worried at how she gained these powers. As she grew older, her father centered his time and energy around training her powers, teaching her to learn that life was different for her now. He taught her hand-to-hand combat within the Owl's Nest along with Ollie homeschooling her. When she was 15, her mother and father divorced, most likely over how to treat their daughter's newfound powers. Her mother no longer wanted any part and allowed Richard to take full custody of Anastasia. She was trained in the Martial Arts, including Krav Maga and stick fighting. She learned to utilize Iron Owl's gadgets. When she turned eighteen, he applied for her to learn at the Academy. She continued to learn what it was to be a superhero, trying to hone her powers and grow stronger with them. She was accepted two years later at the age of 20.

Skills: Highly athletic, above average intellect, her powers, her drive
Flaws: Cannot sustain her powers and if strained, she can be considerably weakened

Name: Alexander Darclynn
Alias: TALOS (Looks nasty when not in all caps)
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Male
Age: 19
Build: 6'1 with a light build
Sexual orientation: Straight

Powers: Alexander has a supercomputer-like consciousness that permits him to interact/interface/communicate with all most every form of technology. His mind telepathically connects to most computer systems, allowing for him to access the computer and 'download' its contents if needed. He mind can also use telekinesis to build, disassemble or replace parts of a system that he has already telepathically connected with.

Drawbacks and Limitations: His abilities only work on technology, with the telekinesis only functioning if he's within eyesight of the machine he's connected to. He can only connect and manipulate one system at a time, as his mind needs to focus in order to have a stable connection. The farther the telepathic connection the more stress is placed upon his mind as he fights to keep the link stable.

Equipment: Glock 18 for defensive reasons

Personality: Alexander is usually a blunt young man, he sees no need to keep his emotions or how he feels about anyone to himself. If he dislikes you he'll simply tell you he does. But while he is blunt, he's usually nice to just about everyone so long as they don't give him a reason to be otherwise.

Nationality: American
Hometown: Detroit, USA
Bio: Alexander grew up an orphan living in the bankrupt city of Detroit. Alexander even from a young age felt as if technology was calling to him, drawing him in. It wasn't until he entered middle school that he learned the reason why he felt drawn to technology, it wasn't the tech calling but instead his mind attempting to connect to it.

This was around when he was put into the metahuman registry after a few failed attempts at learning just what his telekinesis abilities were. However, that didn't stop him from learning, adapting and improving as he aged and as his mind assimilated more with each system he connected with.

By the time he turned 18, his intelligence had reached levels only few could ever reach. All while his experiments, developments and etc ensured Argus kept an eye on him. Until Mastermind attacked, Alexander hadn't ever seen anything so brutal in his life. It was beautifully horrific watching the hordes snap their own necks. And not too long after he was offered a place in the Academy.

Skills: Incredibly Intelligent (Byproduct of his powers), Skilled Engineer, Decently Stealthy
Flaws: He'll do nearly anything to connect with systems he's never seen before, even if he means taking extra unneeded risks to do so. It's rather clear that his abilities have little to no offensive or defensive functions, nor does he try to use his abilities as such.

How much time has happened since the big fight? Is it really the start of a new semester?

I ask because I left Molly in a hospital bed and I don't know if she is healed. If she was OK, then I would also think that she would have wanted to be at the funeral to support Whitney.

It's the start of a new semester once Cy gets the damn post up for it being a new semester. There's also new room-pairings for people.
