Hospital

"Frederick, old lad", Steffen said, patting the old king on the shoulder as they entered the room. "How long it's been since we last saw you."

Henry scrunched his nose at the sterile smell of the hospital.

“Anyway... a lot of fuckshit has happened since we got split up”, Steffen replied Ackermann, suddenly becoming rather weary as he collapsed into a chair, downing the last drops of spiked grapefruit wine and throwing the empty bottle into a bin; it struck the rim of the bin and clattered on the floor, and Steffen, chagrined, climbed out of the chair to pick up the bottle and put it into the bin. “Pretty damn long story. I’m too tired to say it all, to be quite frank.”

“I can explain”, said Henry, sighing and running his hand over his now bald head, where there once was an elaborately-coiffed mop of bleached yellow hair. “It’s been a long twenty years, very long, but I can tell you the important things.”

Chieko and Xiao-song sat in the corner of the room demurely.

“So Koizumi- I’m sure you remember him, very great guy, very good hair... Junichirō Koizumi, it turns out he was appointed by the Gods of the Hotel as the Fifth Gate Guardian, who’s a powerful person who’s supposed to keep the multiverse safe, to be a deterrent-“

“Koizumi set out with the Left Arm to create a Grand Alliance”, Satoshi Tanakamaru interrupted Henry, explaining the happenings of the past two decades in a far less verbose and tangential manner, “a coalition of powers seeking to rid the multiverse of the tyranny of the Chimaera and the IGSE.

“It was eight years after you left that the Chimaera and the IGSE declared war on each other. At that point, we remained hidden from sight, building our forces and gathering more allies from across the multiverse. It was also around that time when Dr Lam Jih-yeung perfected the ghoulification process, and thus, unleashed armies of ghouls upon their enemies, the Chimaera.”

“Yea”, Henry interrupted. “These new ghouls, you don’t wanna mess with them. They’re stronger than the prototypes we fought and a lot more obedient. Very scary.”

“The Chimaera was eventually destroyed”, Tanakamaru continued, ignoring Henry, “when its former Chief Strategist Dar Brexit changed his allegiances and joined the IGSE, where he revealed the identities and location of every ranked commander of the Chimaera in the multiverse. Within five weeks, the Chimaera’s entire leadership was destroyed, and soon, they were no more.

“But it was only after the death of Lam Jih-yeung that the IGSE came to learn of the existence of the Grand Alliance. By then, we were ready to go to war, because we had studied the movements of the ghouls through our spies in the IGSE and by observing the wars waged between them and the Chimaera. And so we assembled our fleet, and under Koizumi's command, we met the IGSE fleet at Kisegaeisei, where Harakiri Haikarakainen himself had come to meet us."

Chieko got out of her seat and stood by the window, quietly looking out.

"The battle first went in our favour, because some of our commandos had taken out the IGSE's signaller ships before we began fighting, so they could not call for reinforcements. But then two things happened. "

Tanakamaru turned to look at Gönad, who subserviently tossed him a one gallon bottle of water, from which the retired, white-haired sumo wrestler chugged voraciously to moisten his dry throat.

"First, Junichirō Koizumi disappeared."

"And, like, literally vanished, while he was talking to someone", Steffen interjected, his eyes widening as he gesticulated wildly in an attempt to describe the impossible phenomenon. "I was in the room. I saw it happen."

"Second", Tanakamaru continued, leaning closer to Ackermann and Frederick and raising a finger, "the IGSE's flagship, the Burzum, began to grow tentacles and started eating our ships."

"Don't ask me how that's possible", Henry said, clearly still rather shaken by the memory of what had happened. "A lot of things have happened. They're very bad people, and they've done terrible, terrible things, even worse than human experimentation- very illegal and very uncool."

"Our forces were scattered, and without a commander, we were forced to make a hasty retreat, but by the time we could organise one, almost our entire had been decimated." Tanakamaru, by that time, had finished the entire gallon of water, and had tossed it into the bin with much accuracy.

"THEY ALL... THEY FUCKING MASSACRED US ALL", Gönad screamed, leaning against the wall and bawling his eyes out into the inside of his elbow. "I SWEAR TO GOD... EVERYBODY..."

Tanakamaru, despite Gönad's emotional outburst, shifted his chair closer to Frederick and Ackermann, clearing his throat.

"Of the 63 groups that made up the Grand Alliance, there were four survivors.

"First was the Left Arm, a cell founded by the former Soviet Union prior to its destruction by the IGSE. There are around ten of them left.

"Second, the Special Warfare Group of the Niril Republic. Although the Niril Republic has been disbanded, the SWG escaped largely intact, and they're now in hiding, relying on the scant resources they still possess."

Chieko cringed at the mention of the Niril Republic.

"Third, the 1st Ranger Battalion of the United States of Humanity. There's about 200 of them remaining now, but the USH is more or less a rump state at this point in time, so they're also very, very short of funding."

"Rump state... more like dump state", Steffen quipped, in an ill-timed attempt to lighten the mood. Nobody laughed at his lame joke, and his chuckles soon faded away. "I... I'm sorry."

"And finally... the Niijimagumi Yakuza. Akira Niijima was killed when his ship, the Hiei, was eaten by the Burzum, but the rest of his men managed to escape from the battle under his second-in-command...

"... Yotsuha Ikegami."

Bubble Tea

"I'm a military alchemist of the Kingdom of Inaria", Yrjo introduced himself, sipping at the tea Terasaka had ordered for him; to his pleasant surprise, it tasted very good. Sugar, in the world he had come from, was in very short supply, and so things as sweet as a bubble tea were obscenely expensive.

For a moment, Yrjo tried to think of more to elaborate, but soon realised that there was little more that he needed to reveal; anything else, he reasoned, could be explained later on, should Julian decide to join him in returning to his world and assisting him on the mission he had been assigned.

"Yea, I reckon that's about it." He looked at Terasaka, who brought a finger to his mouth and nibbled nervously on the fingernail, stopping intermittently to suck from his cup of bubble tea.

"Uhh..."

Yūichirō Terasaka turned a bright shade of red and attempted to avert his gaze from Jules and Yrjo, almost as if he was ashamed of something (which, as Yrjo gathered, he very much was). Scratching his belly, part of which hung from under the hem of his greasy T-shirt, Terasaka mumbled something incoherent to himself under his breath, and then took a deep breath to calm his clearly flustered and embarrassed nerves.

"I don't... um...", he stammered, pushing up his glasses and still unable to meet anybody's gaze. "I dropped out of high school, and I... well... "

"He does programming", Yrjo covered for Terasaka. "He modifies computers and writes software."

Scourge of my People

"I suppose you can say that." Nephthys saw no reason to share how they figured out about the job offer. As Granny Jo explained to the group that being here early gives them the advantage of being able to decide who they will share rooms with Nephthys frown at the mention of bunking with other people. She moved one leg forward and placed her left hand on her hip, her side turn slightly forward.

"I'm staying with Sekhmet no matter what. This is not negotiable." The woman demanded. The silent bodyguard of course said nothing but one can easily guess that she was with Nephthys side on the issue. The bodyguard looked at the bar as some of the crew was mingling with each other. "Tell me, are there anyone else here who works for other groups that I must be aware of?" The Egyptian woman asked.

As she waited for the Intel to be provided the woman sensed someone behind her and she and Sekhmet turned around and saw a man standing behind him, he was lighting a cigarette as he looked at the two. The rift that he came through was starting to close

The man had black hair and blue eyes, though his eyes were hidden behind sunglasses. He was caucasian in complexion. The man wore a dark blue trench coat that was close to being black and grayish white vest with black trousers. His boots were black and his hands were covered by red, fingerless, cloth gloves. "So this is where you two ran off to. You could have given the rest of us a heads up that you were running off chasing treasure so we can get in some temporary replacements." The man said before taking a drag on his cigarette.

Nephthys glare at the man. "Is that why you are here Anton?" The man chuckled. "If that was the case I would be dragging your sorry fine ass back home. No our cabal mates want you to bring back any treasure you fi d so we can split the loot among ourselves. I was sent to make sure you come back alive." He told the two. Nephthys didn’t look pleased to hear that her own cabal wanted to make her split the loot but she kept quiet.

Anton look over at Granny Joe. “You're the one in charge of this little group? I was expecting someone different but no matter. I'm joining this little group just to make sure my partners here come back alive and preferably with some rewards. If you need a name you can call me Anton Gorodetsky, I'm a siren. Yes I know, I'm not a woman nor am I near the sea. I hear that crap all the time. But I'm still what I am, which means I can influence people's emotions and command their thoughts with my voice. I also have some magical artifacts and know some spells. But if you need something more mundane than I'm also a good marksman." The man told Granny Joe as he kept his hands in his coat pockets.

This siren was the exact opposite of Nephthys. Where she try to display a posture of elegance and dominance,  this slavic siren seem to be apathetic to his surrounding or uncaring on how others perceive him. "You mention rooms right? I don't care too much where I am so long as you don't throw me near the boiler room or engine room." He glance over his team mates. "I think my partners here would object if we share the same room so don't put me in the same with her as well." Nephthys fold her arms in front of her chest and turn her back to Anton. "At least we both can agree on that."

Nephthys walked forward and wrote down her name and Sekhmet for room nine. Anton walk forward and picked room eight. "Now with that out of the way I'm gonna get a drink." The siren walked off to the bar. The woman glared at him. "I'm sorry for my unclothed associate. Members from my Order's Balkan chapters aren't known for their manners. Despite his grungy appearance and boarish attitude he won't be a problem. I can at least count Anton not to be planning on stabbing us in the back in the future."

Shadows of the Empire

Bridge, MUS Kongou

Soon, the image of a squid-man appeared on the screen at the front of the bridge, as a Mon Calamari named Admiral Ackbar opened communications with the crew of Kongou.
"Ah, I was hoping for some better news, but this type of situation isn't too unfamiliar. It would be best to use this as a learning experience; I'm sure the battle can still give use some insight into how our enemy works. ...Say, Commodore, what exactly is it that you've brought with you?"

Tadayoshi glanced at the strange ethereal bird through the window of the bridge, still baffled.
"...I'm not exactly sure-"

"This is Captain Carmen of AEGIS Mobile Specialized Team MJ-05, 'Moon Dust.'" a feminine voice called out over the communications channel. "I'm residing within the command cabin of Anomaly-620, or as most of us call it the 'Waxing Scribe-' weird name, I know."

"I thought AEGIS said they didn't have space ships." Terrell pressed, confused.

"That's still mostly true." Carmen responded. "We don't have a proper fleet, or our own construction facilities, but we've collected a few ships here and there as subjects to study... Normally, we wouldn't risk sending out any of these ships, but the Waxing Scribe is a touch old gal, and desperate times call for desperate measures."

Kongou listened to the woman speak, hiding a bit of disappointment.
That's not the same voice... Who did I hear? she thought to herself, as she watched the Waxing Scribe floating in space.

Admiral Ackbar checked a computer terminal near him, and nodded. He viewed the information about the botched hostage situation at the Jedi Temple, a large frown forming on his face. However, it would be more prudent to bring up any new information at the upcoming meeting.
"Well, it looks like things on the ground are wrapping up, so we'll be free to go. We'll be heading to the Fortressa; I'm sure our new Confederacy-remnant allies will know it well, and it is where Mon Mothma is staying."

Passageway, MUS Kongou

Ty made his way through the hallway, having left the sweltering engine room. Despite the extreme heat, the walking badger didn't seem too phased.
I should get some water. Staying in that room used up a lot of en-

His thoughts were interrupted by the sight of a man in a crisp blue military uniform approaching on the other end of the cramped hallway. Sweating considerably and more noticeably tired than Ty, Tadayoshi closed the gap between the two on his own. Ty raised an eyebrow.
"Uh... Hey?"

Tadayoshi let out an exhale.
"Hey, figured I'd come down and check on you guys."

"Check on us?" Ty asked, curiously.

Tadayoshi nodded.
"You seemed pretty stressed out."

Ty glanced to the side.
"Oh, uh, yeah..." he spoke with a softer tone. "Sorry about that. Running the engines is very different than battling..."

Tadayoshi nodded, understandingly.
"Ah, no problem. Actually, some of the heat was radiating up all the way to the bridge."

"Oh, so you're not just nervous?" Ty joked.

Tadayoshi put a hand up to his forehead, and ran his hand through the front of his hair quickly. With a disgusted expression, he wiped his hand on the side of his pants.
"Nah... I think the heat shields in the engine bay might need replacing. Or it could be the coolant pumps..."

Ty shrugged, beginning to walk away.
"I'm not too good with that kinda stuff. But good luck."

Tadayoshi nodded.
"Usually Fay's the one repairing things, but uh... I figure it's a good idea for me to learn this stuff, too."

Ty stopped, and turned to face the Commodore.
"Wait, can't you just always get IMPDO to send a guy out?"

Tadayoshi shrugged, glancing to the side.
"I called UNHQ several times and this past time they told me they would ‘send one out as soon as possible,’ but they haven’t kept up on their word so far so...” he rolled his eyes. ”Either way, I’d still like to be able to know what's going on, and it'd be nice to be able to help you guys out and do some patchwork, at least. I’m not a big fan of people who lead from behind or refuse to do common work with their team."

The superhuman looked around the hallway, smiling as he placed a hand on one of the exposed pipes above his head. He looked at the pipe and the hallway longingly and lovingly.
"You see a ship. I see my wife."

With an enthusiastic smile, Tadayoshi waved and was off.

Ty shrugged, laughing to himself amused, and resumed walking, laughing to himself.
Weird person, but interesting...

Aft Pilot Ready Room, MUS Kongou
Fay sat at a desk at the far side of the room, which had a small computer. On the monitor's screen, a male cocker spaniel and a female poodle sat side by side, dressed in an expensive new suit and a meticulously detailed blue dress, respectively. Behind them, the interior of a large recreational room in a mansion could be seen, several moving men carrying furniture, marble statues, and family portraits out of the building.

Fay rested her chin in one hand, leaning her elbow against the desk. Her cheek scrunched up, adding to the frustrated expression on her face.

"Daughter, we're just worried about you. We want to make sure you're safe!" the male partner pleaded.

Fay dropped her arm to the table, straightening her posture.
"I don't want to sit and hide. It's fine if you want to, but I can't just do nothing. I have to-"

"Faith Spaniel!" the mother scorned. "You need to think of the family fortune! You're supposed to lead our business in a few years, but if you keep going out flying in that plane of yours, you'll be shot!"

Fay's brows furrowed more harshly.
"Oh, that's encouraging." she snapped sarcastically. "Thanks for believing in me, Mom!"

The father's brows furrowed to match his daughter's expression.
"She's trying to get you to see things reasonably! Stop being so pig-headed! You need to come back home. You have responsibilities!"

Fay leaned forward, reaching for the keyboard.
"Responsibilities? My only responsibilities are on this ship!"

Her mother was just about to protest, when Fay closed the videochat window.
"Faith, plea-"

Fay groaned, throwing herself backwards in her chair. She placed a hand to her face, rubbing her temples. The door to the room made a click as it opened; without changing the position of her upper body, Fay spun the chair around, waiting for whoever was at the door to talk.

"You're still in here?"

Fay moved her hand, resting her cheek on it. She looked across the room, as Miyu stood in the doorway, concerned. Her eyes moved away from Fay's for a moment, looking at the computer for a split second before returning.
"Oh... Was it your parents?"

Fay nodded, sighing.

Miyu walked briskly across the room, taking another swivel chair for herself and rolling up to Fay's side.
"You're good to fly, right?"

Fay nodded again, muttering.
"I'm glad you're here."

Miyu smiled.
"Good timing?" she joked.

Fay shook her head, looking Miyu in the eyes.
"No, I mean..." Fay searched for her words. "I'm glad you're by my side. I'm glad you support me in this."

Miyu placed a hand on Fay's shoulder, squeezing slightly.
"If it makes you happy, I'll support you any way I can. Besides, it's fun flying with you... Even in a hectic battle, I feel less stressed when I'm next to you."

Fay couldn't help but laugh under her breath.
"Thanks..." she smiled.

"You want to head up to the observatory and see what this universe's constellations are?" Miyu asked, helping Fay to her feet.

"Let's do it." Fay agreed with a chipper tone, grabbing Miyu's hand. The lynx glanced away, flustered, but let her canine partner lead her through the halls.

Captain's Office, MUS Kongou

Having finished with his work and subsequent shower, Tadayoshi stood in his room, staring at himself in the mirror as he buttoned his uniform jacket. It was odd how much detail he could see. Small gold rings around his pupils, contrasted with the cold blue-grey of his irises; despite the color, the "light" in his eyes seemed tired. Just below his eyes were dark grey circles, which seemed permanent for as long as he could remember.

There was a flash in his mind, to when he first met Kongou; A memory of having just changed out of ocean-soaked clothes, contemplating his future in a similar mirror.

Tadayoshi sighed.

???

Tadayoshi stood in the middle of a black expanse. Apparently, there was some kind of hard floor, but he couldn't see it. Somehow, he was aware of where the ground was, without seeing it. There were no walls, just an endless void.

He stood for some time, before a tall, familiar man appeared.

"What do you want, Marcus?" Tadayoshi asked.

Agent A stood still, several meters in front of Tadayoshi.
"Where are you headed? Do you even have a clue what you're doing? Why not leave all of this to more competent hands? You know it would make things so much easier."

Tadayoshi frowned, shaking his head.
"Shut the hell up."

Agent A simple chuckled menacingly.
"You don't deserve them. They don't deserve you. They're much better than that. You're just in the way."

Tadayoshi's body shook slightly, as if the temperature had dropped.
"No..."

Agent A placed a hand on his hip.

Tadayoshi matched Marcus's gaze, his eyes glowing.
"You're wrong. And Kongou is my proof!"

Agent A barely contained his laughter.
"Oh? How so?"

Tadayoshi took a deep breath.
"The others might just tolerate me, since they have to be around me either way. We're co-workers, so..."

The man shook his head; he shouldn't let himself get off track. Besides, that was wrong, too.
"Anyway, Kongou is different. She had absolutely no ties to me, or even my universe, and she chose me."

Agent A placed a hand to his chin.
"How long before she realizes it was a mistake?"

Tadayoshi glared.
"She's a supercomputer capable of tracking things faster than light moves. If she thought it was a mistake, she would've come to that conclusion ages ago."

Agent A shook his head.
"She's absolutely perfect. Meanwhile, you're a piece of worthless sh-"
"She is perfect. And if someone who is as perfect as Kongou is finds a reason to love me, then I am worth something."

Captain's Office, MUS Kongou

Tadayoshi blinked, and found himself paying attention to himself in the mirror again; his irises were glowing. His awakened power must have activated while he was thinking to himself.

There was a click from around the corner, as someone entered the office.

"Hello? Darling, are you in here?"

Tadayoshi smiled, peering around the corner into the main office space. He smiled weakly.
"Hey."

Kongou looked at the man before her, smiling.
"You look very nice."

Tadayoshi nodded, holding back a sigh.
"Thanks."

Kongou's expression faded to a concerned frown, as she approached Tadayoshi.

A phone ringing.
Are you not going to answer?
Tadayoshi slowly floating to the phone.
Yo.
Uh... Yeah, a bit. So, what's up?
Ah, right. I'll be down soon.
Time for more diplomacy... Hopefully General Pepper takes the lead. I don't have the energy for this right now...

I am sure everything will be fine.
How so?
Call it intuition, but when we are together, there is nothing too difficult.
Uh, thanks... But I'm not nervous or anything. Just tired.

Kongou looked into Tadayoshi's eyes, now standing barely a foot away. The man's words from earlier in the day echoed in her mind.
I don't have the energy for this right now... I'm just tired...

Kongou placed a hand softly on the man's cheek.
"It's one of those days, isn't it?" she asked, her voice emanating an air of understanding.

Tadayoshi nodded, subconsciously glancing to Kongou's hand on his face.
"Yeah, but it'll be fine, as long as you're beside me." the man smiled genuinely.

Kongou smiled, giving the man a kiss.
"Always."

She grasped Tadayoshi's hand, and began leading him out of the office.
"Let's go to Fortressa and hold a meeting, Darling."

Council Room, Capital City, Venom

The orangutan watched as the meeting room door closed, apparently in the middle of packing his papers into his briefcase. When the door latched, he sat perfectly still, as if listening to the air down to the molecular level. After several minutes, he put his papers down in a neat stack in front of him, and turned back to the remaining delegates.
"Now that President Bowman is gone, and it's just us, it is time to discuss options for moving forward."

The chameleon turned to face the orangutan, as the primate opened his briefcase. From the outside, it appeared like any normal briefcase, but the inside was a carefully molded foam holding a palm-sized disk perfectly in place. The disk was round, its edge dotted with spherical bulbous protrusions.

"Ah, the Union core of that Nagara-Two that appeared in Italy." the chameleon laughed. "How are the tests going?"

The orangutan smiled.
"Marvelously. It can interface with the artificial nanomaterials Venomian scientists came up with, so testing how it interfaces with them is a relatively simple matter. The fruits of these tests will be ready to harvest soon."

Capital City, Venom

Dash walked casually down the stairs at the entrance of the council building, and approached a lone black sedan. He knocked on the front passenger's window. The driver rolled it down, and met Dash's gaze.

"I think I'll walk today." he smiled, handing the driver a small slip of paper. "Validation for parking."

The driver placed the paper into his jacket without looking at it, nodded, and slowly drove off, rolling the window up as he went.

Dash watched the car drive away, then turned to view the front of the council building. Once a congress building from a government long before Andross's rule, the crumbling building stood an imposing one hundred meters tall, being one of the few buildings in the city tall enough to be simply carved straight out of the bedrock, and serving to support the weight of the surface above. From the ground, it was hard to even see where the central dome connected with the ceiling of the massive underground cave.

After a moment of staring at the building, Dash walked down the sidewalk, in the opposite direction of the car. After making it some distance from the council building, he pulled a tiny radio and headphones out of his coat, placing the headphones on. Keeping the volume low enough so the sound wouldn't escape to the outside world, he listened intently.

"The fruits of these tests will be ready to harvest soon."

Dash kept his eyes on the ground, but couldn't help but furrow his brow in confusion.
What does that mean?

He shook his head.
Either way, they speak very vaguely. It's going to take a while to get anything solid like this...

Kozhva, Russian Federation, Earth-A
Music

As rockets, plasma, and bullets cut their way through the city, the battle quickly became a stalemate, Venomian military might slowed to a stop by the surprisingly advanced technology employed by AEGIS. One such technology was a psychological weapon mounted to several of AEGIS's mech suits; a loud high-frequency sound emitter tuned to produce a fear response in enemy forces.

The Banshee Emitter, using magic to selectively target the Venomians, also had another side effect; visual hallucinations. The Venomian commander at the scene grasped and pulled at the hair at his temples, and looked on in horror as his vision went in and out of focus, and bright flashes of light assaulted his eyes. A complete sense of horror and dread overcame him.

No!

He moved his hands, clawing at his eyes. He heard his own voice speaking to him, as if coming from another person.
I am a soldier of Venom.

He hunched forward, holding the top of his head tightly in his hands. His breathing increased, and his heart felt like it was about to explode.
Fear is disgusting.

His eyes widened, as the voice seemed to morph in strange ways. His entire body shook. His brows furrowed, and his vision refocused.
Disgust is anger.

The Venomian commander seemed to struggle just to stand, as if fighting against his own involuntary movements.
No, this... is... wrong...

The man moved slowly, his entire body felt like hot lead. He eventually made it to one of the IFVs behind the forward units, and was quickly pulled inside.

Despite the Venomian soldiers' inclusion of specialized hearing protection as part of standard issue equipment, the sheer volume of the high frequency noise generators made it through the headphones. While some of the troops dropped their weapons and clutched their heads in pain, many had an entirely different response. Hundreds of human-sized monkeys, apes, and chimpanzees hunched forward slightly, throwing their arms into the air and shaking their guns in rage. Eyes wide and bloodshot, the hysterical apes screamed and shouted like mad, producing terrifying, loud, inhuman screaming.

The frenzied mob ran forward, jumping over their own IFVs and rushing towards their enemy at nearly one hundred miles per hour. Many at the front of the pack shot their rifles towards AEGIS and Russian soldiers, their movements being broad and sweeping, sending plasma flying everywhere. Apes that found themselves within close quarters of their enemy smashed their rifles into faces and joints, clawed, bit, and tore at exposed areas, and even picked their opponents up over their head and hurled them several meters through the air. Men too close to the apes were picked up and thrown into walls, cars, and the ground like ragdolls. In a matter of seconds after the Banshee Emitter was activated, the streets were covered in blood and entrails, bodies from both sides falling like flies.

The commander looked through the windshield of the IFV, watching the mechs; he noticed box-like devices attached to them, with slats and holes opened up that were previously closed.
"Target those mechs with everything we've got. Whatever the hell is happening, those things are causing it!"

Venomian Detention Camp, Sicily, Earth-A

A large gorilla in a crisp uniform walked through the camp, eyeing both prisoner and soldier alike. The great number of ribbon bars and ceremonial ropes denoted his long tenure, while the three stars on his jacket's collar glinted proudly. Next to the gorilla was an anthropomorphic crow in a suit ad white labcoat. As they walked around the base, they passed block after block of large, white tents, each marked with either a symbol-denoting a special facility, such as first aid or food-or black numbers-denoting tents for housing prisoners.

"As per the council's orders we've administered increased exposure, and should see a heightened aggression respon-" the crow was cut off by the gorilla holding his hand up, standing still.

Following the gorilla's gaze, the crow saw several people being directed out of the back of a large caravan truck.

A few Venomian soldiers stood casually, separating children from adults at gunpoint. One woman held onto her child, refusing to be separated. One of the soldiers grabbed the child's arm and began pulling forcefully, trying to rip the kid from his mother's arms.

"This should be interesting." the general mused, with a slight, sadistic grin.

As one soldier was playing tug-of-war with the mother, another shouted for some time directly in her ear to led the child go. The ape became more frustrated and agitated, bringing his gun up and smacking the woman on the head with the butt of the rifle, instantly knocking her out.

The gorilla general's gaze shifted slightly, staring at a man that had separated from the group, and had been pleading with the guards the whole time.
"Her husband, perhaps? What will he do? Will he fight in futility, or is his spirit crushed already?" he asked rhetorically, looking on as if watching a compelling movie.

The man rushed at the guard who had hit his wife, tackling him to the ground. He wrestled as two other guards rushed in, trying to rip the man off. After several seconds, there was a bright flash of light as a large red laser blasted its way through the head of one of the Venomian guards, then the other. The man and the first guard shuffled to their feet quickly; the human was holding the guard's sidearm, while the guard was holding another's plasma rifle, both pointing at the other combatant.

"STOP!" the general's voice echoed to the horizon, a deep, booming command.

The gorilla slowly strolled in between the guard and the human, and turned to the latter, eyes glowing. The man seemed paralyzed in fear of the eight foot tall, 400 pound behemoth before him, daring not to break eye contact. The general simply raised his hand, and plucked the gun from the man's grasp. His eyes returned to normal, and he turned to the crow.
"This one is interesting."

With that, the general strolled away, leaving the rest of the guards to tackle the man, and place his wife and the two dead Venomians on stretchers.

Slowly, the gorilla passed the rest of the group from the truck, pausing in front of Lilith. He looked at the AEGIS spy for a moment, squinting his eyes. With a slight frown, he turned away, continuing his stroll.

At the gate, a number of Venomian guards found the nanomachine-laden piece of gum Lilith had placed on the bars when she entered. A gecko held the top of a bulky handheld PDA-esque device to the wad of gum, and after a while, it beeped. He looked down to the screen.
"Well, it's clean as far as CBRN goes. We should contain it and get it to the lab for more testing."

A gibbon standing next to him chuckled.
"Don't you think this is a little overboard for some taffy?"

The gecko shook his head.
"You can never be too careful."

Jungle, Fortuna, Lylat System

Several troops from the Cornerian infantry waded through dense, wet jungle, rifles at the ready. As the commander led the platoon forward through the brush, several of the toops looked in all directions. Despite a clean atmosphere and relatively close proximity to the star Lylat, the thick foliage at the top of the massive trees of the rain forest blocked most light from reaching the surface. Almost paradoxically, there seemed no shortage of small shrubbery, moss, ferns, and brambles, specially adapted to low-light environments through many thousands of years of evolution.

"So, tell me again who the hell we're swimming for?" a feline member of the group asked, his disgust with the knee-deep water echoing in his voice.

"A guy who was rifted here, goes by the name of 'King K. Rool.'" the commander, a beagle, stated. "'Parently, the high brass wants us to meet 'im, looking for more allies."

"How do we know it's even worth it?" called out another Cornerian.

"We don't." the commander sighed. There was a brief pause, where nothing could be heard but the splashing of water as the platoon made their way closer to the origin of the radio transmission. "But... Any chance is worth considering, and at the very least, it'll be one ally Venom doesn't have."

There was silence for a moment. Dead silence, as everyone stopped moving, one by one.
"What if this is a trap?" asked one of the soldiers.

The commander's brow furrowed.
"Then we'll kill some dirty apes."

One of the platoon's troops called out.
"You know some of Corneria's best and brightest are simians, Sarge. My stepdad is-"

"You know what I fuckin' mean!" the beagle barked. "Let's just get moving."

The group continued on in silence, eventually stumbling upon the clearing blasted out by the rift. In the middle of it was a massive metal ship with a glass roof, several propellers lining the sides of the hull. This ship's crew were reptiles, all led by a crocodile bordering on morbidly obese.

Brilliant. the Cornerian commander thought to himself. At least it doesn't seem like a trap.

Pacific Ocean, Earth-A
Music

As the Scarlet Fleet closed in on the American advanced carrier force, a buzzing came over the horizon. Thousands of black specs appeared in the sky, growing closer with each passing second. A fleet of American bombers and fighters of varying types, upgraded with Cornerian shielding, weaponry, sensors, and power systems. Flying in a position above the mass of black planes was a single glint of silver; an upgraded Flying Fortress.

Aachalendra climbed up to the pilot's cabin, feeling a gust of wind; One of the side windows was missing, and the entire airframe seemed to be pushed to its limit from the speed they were flying. The pilot, wearing an oxygen mask, turned to the large tiger.
"Ya sure this is a good idea, sir?"

Aachalendra gave a hearty laugh.
"No!" he smiled.

As the planes arrived, thousands of anti-aircraft batteries across the Fog fleet activated, swiveling their guns to bear on the swarm. Simultaneously, the ships fired seemingly infinite amounts of red bolts, covering the sky in crimson. As the bombers closed in, the group broke off into smaller formations, flying at all angles to flank the warships. C-130s flew in circles around the Fog fleet, harassing the ships with massive laser cannons poking out from the planes' fuselages, and keeping pressure up between bombing runs. Large bay doors on the bottom of several large bombers opened, releasing hundreds of missiles; each dropped straight down before activating, the whole group acting as a swarm and maneuvering in strange, erratic paths to their targets.

The Fog ships launched hundreds of corrosive missiles through the air, taking more direct paths to the bombers, while AA fire switched to targeting the missiles. Soon, the back-and-forth devolved as both sides pumped out a continuous stream of missiles and lasers. However, this relieved pressure from the American fleet, who within minutes was already sending their own planes up and engaging the Fog.

Aachalendra watched the battle below him through a window on the side of the Flying Fortress, anxiety building within him.
If we want to make it to Hawaii and upgrade the rest of the ships, we're going to have to face them eventually... Best do it away from the rest of the ships...

Kamaria passed by, looking out of the window.
"Looks like that spacetime anomaly was a blessing; the temporarily slowed time in the area boosted productivity astronomically!"

The secretary bird nudged the tiger's arm.
"No pun intended."

Aachalendra chuckled.
"Yeah, well, it still freaked me out. It's never a good idea to mess with that kind of stuff. I'd rather not wake up one morning and find out that I've started aging backwards and my tail's made of strange matter."

After a brief pause, the tiger continued.
"It's a good thing you're wearing that relativistic tracker." he smiled. "You know that American colonel actually thought it was a watch?"

The two laughed a bit. There was a moment of levity, which faded quickly back to solemn hope, as the battle waged on.

Meetings of Destiny

Note: This series takes place from the abrupt end of Drawn Through the Multiverse and Rise of the Masked Man, and will span the gap to the beginning of Shadows of the Empire
Day 1

Orbit, Earth-A

The remains of several ships, smashed to pieces, floated slowly through space. Within the damaged hull of Kongou, Tadayoshi laid sprawled on the floor.

As he woke up, he held a hand to his pained head, his memory hazy. Slowly, the man sat up, and looked over to Kongou. She had just pulled herself to her feet, but her body was covered with glitchy purple patches, as she struggled to keep her nanomaterials together.
"Kongou-?" Tadayoshi started, worried.

Kongou held up a hand.
"I'm fine. Are you okay?"

The man grunted quietly as he stood up, nodding.
"Yeah... I'm fine. ...How's Maya? And the others?"

"Maya is damaged, but she will be fine. She is still capable of travelling." Kongou answered, with a brief pause. "As for the others, most are no longer here."

Tadayoshi looked down and to the side for a moment, trying to make heads or tails of what Kongou had just said.
"They can't have just disappeared, right?"

Kongou nodded. As the two collapsed into their chairs, Tadayoshi turned to Kongou.
"What was that? What happened?"

Kongou thought for a moment.
"I detected high gravitons readings, and thought it was a super graviton cannon, so I tried to make a mirror-ring system."

Tadayoshi looked confused.
"Graviton cannon?"

Kongou nodded.
"Fog ships, heavy cruiser class and up, possess equipment that can generate gravitons, and focus them in a directed energy beam. It's a very powerful weapon, and depending on which ship would be firing it, it might break through my Klein field."

Tadayoshi didn't know what a Klein field was, either, but he got the picture.
"Ah... So, what's the mirror ring system?"

Kongou cast her eyes down for a moment.
"The only known counter the Fleet of Fog possesses to a super graviton cannon. It generates large portals that absorb all directed energy, and then reflects it back with near-zero energy loss."

Tadayoshi nodded and turned away, breathing a sigh of relief.
"Oh... Well, thank you, Kongou."

Kongou continued to look at the floor ahead of her.
"I should not have done that."

Tadayoshi looked back to Kongou, concerned.
"Why not?"

Kongou shook her head.
"I was wrong. It was not a graviton cannon, but a rift. In my haste, I... messed up. The others must have been pulled through the rift, but I activated the mirror ring system as we passed the event horizon... The amount of energy that I channeled was... too much..."
I'm not even supposed to have a Mirror Ring System in the first place... changing my nanomaterials around on the spot took more effort than I thought...

Tadayoshi nodded slightly, as he sank into his chair.
"Oh..."

He didn't know what to say.

There was a moment of silence, before a tired but happy voice came over the communications channel.
"Hey, are you guys okay?" Fay asked.

"We're fine." Tadayoshi responded, mind distant. "I take it we're not under attack anymore, right?"

"Yeah, that'd be correct." Miyu came over the speaker, nonchalantly.

This entire time, Tadayoshi had been thrown around the multiverse, found his way into fights, and preoccupied himself with conversations with people whose entire worlds he didn't know. It wasn't until now, orbiting his own planet, in dead post-war silence, that the ramifications of what he had been through all hit him at once; the lack of security from rifts, the existence of different universes, a possibly psychotic magician who sees him as an obstacle to take out, and his involvement in some kind of dispute between massive advanced warships at war with humanity. His entire world may have been jeopardized, all because he got randomly portaled away.

The man blinked, shaking his head slightly to bring himself out of the stupor of sudden realization.
"Uh... Yeah... We should land now that we're here, then. The base I'm stationed at is Tokyo, Japan, so that'll be best, I think."

Kongou's engines came back to life, giving the ship a quiet hum as Kongou used her ability to manipulate gravitons to avoid falling too quickly upon reentry.

IMPDO Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan, Earth-A

Chase and Terrell sat at opposite ends of the large table in their squad's central office, using their cellphones to pass a ping pong ball back and forth from their chairs. The two sat almost entirely still, except for their arms moving just enough to pass the ball. The pair listened to the sound of birds outside, half asleep. It was so peaceful, yet so boring, that one could... almost... fall...

The door smashed open with a loud crash, kicking up a small windstorm and blowing papers and ping pong balls across the room. Marguerite had burst in, having apparently seen a ghost.
"Vous devez voir ça! Bureau du commissaire!"

Chase and Terrell had barely jolted awake, when Marguerite bolted down the hallway. Chase turned slowly in his chair to face Terrell, an exhausted expression on his face.
"Commissioner's office?"

Terrell shrugged.
"Are we in trouble for playing pong?"

Chase rubbed his eyes, and reluctantly got up from his chair.
"C'mon. Let's get this over with."

The two walked down several hallways, passing various men and women in suits, military uniforms, and labcoats going about their day. They reached a rather unassuming door, which led to the Commissioner's large office. Terrell looked at the door, and was only halfway through sighing when Chase grabbed the doornob, not even stopping his walk as he passed into the room.

He saw Marguerite and the Commissioner at the latter's desk, and-

Chase stopped in his tracks.

Just to the side was Tadayoshi, standing with two anthropomorphic animals, a brown haired girl in a Little Red Riding Hood-esque outfit, and a blonde woman in a long, purple, Victorian-style dress; the latter's hair was pinned up in short twin tail poofs, with two strands of hair next to her bangs framing her face.

Chase looked at the group in utter confusion.

The Commissioner cleared his throat.
"This may make next to no sense, and sound ridiculous, but our scientific staff has confirmed it; Commander Petit was sucked through a rift in spacetime. He's explained a lot to me already, but I feel it would be best for us all to be here, to avoid making him repeat himself."

Chase blinked several times, speechless. It took several minutes before he was able to come up with...
"What?"

Everyone sat down, as Tadayoshi recounted the events that had transpired. The rest of the group leaned forwards, listening in awe, as if the odyssey of an ancient hero were being recounted; the rift, meeting Kongou, traveling through another rift, meeting the Raposa, talking with Kongou, seeing Wilfre, and several others... fighting the scorpion, going to Corneria... the ambush in orbit around Earth... The entire time, Maya sat on the floor with her legs crossed, making sound effects along with the story.

After Tadayoshi was done recounting the events, the Commissioner turned his computer monitor around, to show satellite footage of Kongou's battle in Earth's orbit.
"Hard evidence, for the skeptical." the elderly man eyed Chase, knowingly.

Chase laughed, looking towards the ground for a short time, before looking over to Tadayoshi.
"Honestly, man, I'm just glad you're back."

Terrell nodded happily, then looked over to Fay, Miyu, Maya, and Kongou.
"So, what are they gonna do? What's next?"

Fay's tail wagged, as she hopped up from her chair with excitement.
"Oh, President Macoy and Prime Minister Pepper want to open dialogues with Earth! Er, this Earth, that is."

"Why us?" Terrell asked, incredulously.

Fay looked over at Terrell, as if the answer were obvious.
"Uh, why wouldn't we? It's only natural that intelligent species would want to contact others."

The man shrugged, tiredly.

The Commissioner nodded, thinking.
"Well, I'll take it up with the high brass, and see what they think." He then looked over to Kongou and Maya, with a soft smile. "Our scientists would also like to study your technology. I'm sure you wouldn't mind, right?"

Kongou stared at the man, deadpan.
"Yes, we would mind." she spoke, before Maya could interject.

The Commissioner bowed his head slightly, his expression sinking.
"I am sorry for assuming."

Kongou paused for a moment, taken aback. She looked to Tadayoshi, then the Commissioner, then the rest of the group. Marguerite, Chase, Terrell, Fay, and Miyu were all sitting in a circle listening to Maya enthusiastically recount her favorite stories. The group seemed enthralled, leaning in slightly and smiling along as the mental model started a story about Makie, Haruna, and Kirishima.
Why are they all... so nice?

Even if they weren't personally affected by the Fleet of Fog, they still knew her as an alien, and as an AI. And thanks to Maya's story telling, they knew about the Fog's conflicts with humanity. Despite this, they didn't shun the group.

They must be acting. They surely can't trust us... Kongou thought to herself. Something about this felt wrong; her heart grew heavy as she kept reminding herself of this fact. I shouldn't have opened up. My emotions are getting in my way. Maybe if I...

Kongou tried to lower the sensitivity on her emotional simulators, but was locked out... by Yamato.

[Yamato.] Kongou practically barked over the JTN.
[Hello, Kongou~! *smile smile*]
[You've locked my emotional simulators?"]
[Yes, I have. *smile smile*]
[Why? They skew my thoughts, and will affect my observations.]
[Yes, I am aware. *smile smile*]
[I must remember that I am a battleship of the Fog. A weapon does not need emotions; they will get in my way...]
[Oh, this again... To the contrary, if you go along with your emotions, I will get far better data. *smile smile*]

Kongou thought for a moment. In all honesty, with Iona sinking her, her time spend in reconstruction, and the discovery of the multiverse, her entire world and being had been shaken to the foundation. Even without Yamato's meddling, Kongou wondered if her adjustments to the simulator would even take effect.

[Anyway, I'm keeping your emotional simulator locked to normal, and look forward to hearing from you again with your next report! *smile smile*]

With that, Yamato cut communications with Kongou.

Kongou sighed, still unsure.
Should I... I... I don't know...

She looked at the group, as Tadayoshi sat with them, motioning to Kongou to join. She felt the urge to get up and walk over, but fought it.
No, I'm here to observe. she made up an excuse. Iona left the fleet and sailed with humans, but Kongou's position in the fleet was too important. She had a role in the fleet, and shouldn't bother with anything else. She couldn't risk leaving the fleet. She couldn't.

Hours passed, as Kongou thought about her role in the Fog and the people and places she saw since leaving her Earth. By the time a meeting had been set up between Corneria and IMPDO, records filed, and separated parties reunited, it was night.

As things wound down, Fay, Miyu, and Maya were all shown to guest rooms on site. Marguerite turned to Kongou, with a friendly expression.
"And Kongou?"

Kongou snapped out of her thoughts, turning to Marguerite.
"Hm?"

"We can set you a room up, if it's to your liking."

Kongou shook her head.
"No."

Something tugged on her heart, and she spoke more softly, breaking eye contact.
"Um... Thank you."

Marguerite smiled slightly, gave a quick nod, and left the room empty aside from Kongou, Tadayoshi, and the Commissioner. The latter looked up from the paperwork on his desk, and grinned.
"Well, respectfully, I don't have a bed in my office..."

"I will be staying aboard my ship." Kongou stated plainly. The woman turned to Tadayoshi. "Would you walk me to the pier? I want to make sure I don't take a wrong turn."

Doesn't she have advanced navigation systems for that? Tadayoshi thought. Maybe they're damaged?

Tadayoshi mentally shrugged. The back of his mind was aware of another possibility, but surely that couldn't be it. It couldn't. Oh, well.
"Uh, sure."

Kongou took the lead, Tadayoshi walking by her side as they walked out of the base and towards the harbor. They made occasional small talk as they approached the ship. When they arrived at the gang way, Kongou looked out across Tokyo. The city's bright lights contrasted with the black, star-specked night sky.

Tadayoshi watched as Kongou looked at the city. A glint of light caught her eyes, and now the man was able to see them in detail; most of the structure of her eyes looked like a normal human eye, aside from some very small computer chip-like areas within her blood red irises, giving an almost 'biological camera lens' quality to them. A soft gust of wind blew by, and the ends of her bangs swished slightly to the side.

"Beautiful." Kongou remarked, looking almost longingly at the city.
"I know." Tadayoshi muttered, subconsciously.

Kongou snapped out of her trance, looking at the man inquisitively.

"Oh, uh, Tokyo is a very beautiful city. Especially at night..." the man broke eye contact to give a quick glance at the city. He cleared his throat, even though nothing was there. "I can show you around sometime, if you'd like."

Kongou smiled, thinking about walking through the city with him for a moment. Her heart lifted momentarily, before sinking again.
"It's already 23 hours..." she stated. For some reason, she felt disappointed. "I don't necessarily need to sleep, so I wouldn't mind, but... Won't you miss out on sleep?"

Tadayoshi shook his head, a pressure seemingly lifted from his shoulders.
"Oh, nah. Amplificatae can stay awake for three days without getting tired, if it's just desk work." he mused.

Yamato even said that she would prefer I go with my feelings... But if I do, won't I eventually go against the Fog?

Kongou glanced back up to the city; a world without the Fog's blockade, where the seas and sky were free to travel... Even just the tiny glimpse of this world that she had seen intrigued her; there was a kind of peace that Kongou hadn't felt before. She felt compelled to explore this world. As seconds passed, this feeling grew stronger, and her feelings and curiosity soon outweighed her worries about the Fleet of Fog.

Kongou looked back to the man before her, and smiled, walking to the man's side.
"How long have you lived here?"

"A few years, or so." Tadayoshi answered with a shrug, making light of himself. "I'm not native to the city, but I know my way around okay enough."

Kongou nodded.
"I suppose we should get going, so we have enough time to look around before we have to return to the base."

Tadayoshi blinked.
"Oh, sure thing! I guess we can start with some dinner, so we're not walking around on an empty stomach." He paused, realizing something. "Oh, that's right... Um, you don't actually need to eat, right? But would you like to?"

Kongou nodded.
"Though, I don't have any money, so you would need to pay."

Tadayoshi smiled, enthusiastically.
"Oh, not a problem. So, what's your favorite food?"

Kongou frowned, glancing to the side for a moment.
"I haven't actually consumed food..." she looked back to Tadayoshi. "But I am curious. We can start at your favorite place and move from there."

Tadayoshi nodded, and led the way to the city.

I suppose Yamato was correct. Allowing myself to be human would help me understand the data from studying these other worlds. she thought up an empty excuse to quell the back of her mind. As she walked around Tokyo with the man, she felt warm and at ease. Is this how Maya feels when she is with her friends? she mused.

“Ahh, you certainly must be able to take the risks involved here if you’ve got military service. Most of my time in Svakarta’s military was as a revolutionary, once peace came I decided to take my leave. If you don’t mind me asking, is an alchemist some sort of military rank, like an officer, or is it a specialization? I’m afraid I haven’t heard of that term before,” Aestus asked Yrjo, taking small sips of the drink. While transmutation of matter did exist in his world, it wasn’t thought of as a single, unified practice. No one really specialized in “alchemy”, it was more common to focus on refining magic to be weaponized or used to improve day to day life. The word didn’t even exist where Aestus came from, so as far as he knew it was just a sort of military rank.

Irwin didn’t understand the conflicts discussed, or the groups or people mentioned. Not like he could’ve, he was from a desert continent on the far corner of the Earth. But, it was for that seem reason he sympathized with them. He perfectly understood the struggle against a tyrannical government, but his homeland had never really had a violent struggle. While he had simply continued on with his live and tried to stay low, these people fought on. Despite not knowing any of the men or women, Irwin felt some respect for those who would die for freedom, even if they or those who fought on would never live to see it.

“I’m...sorry to hear about your losses, even if I couldn’t begin to comprehend what happened,” Irwin told them softly.

“Truth be told, I don’t feel like dragging ya into this whole business either”, Xiao-song said to the almost apologetic Irwin. “We may be shorthanded as it is, but it ain't right to cause ya extra trouble, if ya know what I'm saying. It just ain't right."

Boorish and base as he may have been, 30-year-old mercenary Lee Xiao-song was one who had seen much already. He'd grown up in a backwater village in a mountainous dimension known by many names within, but outside, only as Hoa, a quiet land of water and villages built on stilts. His idyllic childhood of quiet days spent picking flowers at the riverbank with his mother had been brought to a cruel end when the unmistakeable grey and deep blue warships of the IGSE first loomed over the horizon; they brought with them not death and destruction, but inflation and want, as goods from outside soon dissolved to a trickle and people began shredding nettles into hot water. And then…

"Hey, Xiao-song, you look tired", said Henry. "Are you okay?"

Xiao-song rubbed his forehead and exhaled deeply.

"I'm having a bit of a headache", he mumbled almost incoherently. "I'll just go outside and sleep on the couch or something. If anyone suspicious comes along, I'll let ya know."

When the door closed, Henry once again slid the lock back closed, and looked listlessly at Ackermann.

"We're on a mission now", he elaborated further. "The IGSE's ghouls are all over the place, but we can stop them. We have a book, very thick, very dense, full of big words, believe me, but it can help us stop the ghouls…"

"Dr Lam Jih-yeung's PhD thesis", Tanakamaru interjected. "He ordered it to be destroyed just before he died, but we managed to obtain a copy of it from a black market dealer. I'm not sure why exactly he wanted it destroyed, but my guess is that it's because the thesis contains information on how to reverse the ghoulification process.

"In other words, to turn ghouls back into humans."

"That includes the big ghouls too", Steffen added. "So-"

"OH, I GET IT AT LAST!" Gönad screamed at the top of his lungs, almost shattering the windows and medical equipment with his voice. "WE CAN USE THE INFORMATION IN THE THESIS TO DESTROY THE BURZUM!!! THAT'S FRIGGING GENIUS!!!"

"Well, aren't you a lil' fuckin' slow." Steffen rolled his eyes.

The room suddenly became quiet once again, the only sound being the constant mechanical rasping of Frederick's medical equipment and the low, buzzing bass of Xiao-song's snoring, audible even with a door between him and the rest. Tanakamaru cleared his throat, as if trying to fill the air with some inkling of a sound to pierce the inundating silence, but true to his usual austerity with words, said nothing. The sunlight that filtered through the window seemed to dance against the walls.

"But you haven't told us yet", Henry said at last, turning to face Ackermann and Frederick, his baggy eyes switching between the two from beneath his straggly golden eyebrows. "What are you two up to these days?" He took a glance at Irwin, and then added, “And who’s that guy?”

Yrjo wasn't quite sure how to answer Aestus' query about rank and all that, but nonetheless, made some attempt to look like he was thinking. Something about the marine god's appearance intimidated the boy, telling him that it was perhaps best to give at least a definitive-sounding answer of some sort.

"Alchemist isn't a rank where I come from", he explained impromptu, doing a surprisingly good job at it. "It's more of a… well… vocation, if I may put it that way. All commissioned officers are required to be adept at combat magic. It's one of the ways that the Kingdom of Inaria deters greater powers from invading, although… it's mostly Lord Beronius' power that keeps them at bay."

In reality, Yrjo had hardly paid much thought to the workings of his country's military or politics. He learned and trained only as much as was necessary for him to do his job, and did his job only as was necessary for him to provide his grandparents with a comfortable living. Whether he performed well enough, career-wise, was to him, utterly irrelevant. It wasn't at all evident from his stellar performance at the Royal Academy of Military Alchemy, but Yrjo Yomon te-Yoba wasn't particularly interested in the political endeavors and aspirations of the Kingdom of Inaria.

Terasaka nervously bit his lip and awkwardly clasped his hands around the rim of his now half-empty cup of Thai konjac tea, his beady eyes darting back and forth between Jules, Aestus, and Yrjo.

"Anyway, I reckon we've chatted enough", Yrjo said, in an attempt to divert the conversation away from his military background, which he was rather loath to discuss. "What exactly are we doing here, and how can I help you all?"

"I would also like to help", Terasaka said noncommittally, still tying himself up in his own words. "However… well, um, however would be good. I mean, well, however I… never mind."

"Mister… Anton… Gorzasky… Gordatsy… Gorbachev…" Granny Jo grunted in frustration at being unable to spell sudden newcomer Anton Gorodetsky's name, and eventually, having given up trying to force her half-illiterate brain to fill up the list, tossed the notebook to one of the yakuza grunts, a baby-faced young man with a head of clumpy silver hair and tattoos of kirins clawing their way up from his wrists to his elbows. "Takumi, fill up this goddamn list for me so Yotsuha and I can go talk to the crew. As an added bonus, I'll let you fill in all your fuckin' yakuza buddies so you can choose who you wanna bunk with."

As Takumi went about filling up the list, Yotsuha beckoned to Granny Jo, Nephthys, Sekhmet, Anton, Nomad, Cherry, Yukio, and Rygan to head over to the room closest to the minibar in the little living room. It was a little lounge, replete with top-of-the-line Bang & Olufsen speakers and massage chairs, and a pool table in the middle; evidently, Granny Jo was one who loved luxuries even when doing gritty underworld shit jobs.

On a wheelchair in the middle of the room, just next to the pool table, sat a middle-aged, bespectacled man in a tailored tuxedo, quietly reading a newspaper.

"This is your first mate", Granny Jo introduced the crew to the man, who put the paper down and turned his wheelchair around manually, revealing a pair of empty trouser legs, and smiling at the newly-gathered crew. "Itona Namikawa XII."

“Pleasure to meet you all”, the first mate greeted his new crew. “You can call me Itona.”

“Once we confirm the final numbers for our crew”, said Yotsuha, “I’ll explain what you need to do, and then we’ll set off straight away on our mission. In the meantime, I suppose I’ll introduce myself. My name is Yotsuha Ikegami, and I’m the chief of the Niijimagumi Yakuza. I-“

While Yotsuha was introducing herself, the sound of glass shattering could be heard coming from the minibar, prompting Granny Jo to charge out amid a flurry of expletives spilling forth from her frothing lips. The sound of a portal shutting off echoed through the ship, and from the dust came the figure of a dark-skinned and moustachioed middle-aged man of South Indian descent carrying three long scimitars by his side.

“Something tells me this isn’t what I signed up for”, said the man in a thick Tamil accent.

Shadows of the Empire

Two men stepped into a well lit room with clean edges and clear lines, the white ceramite well shined and waxed by the careful attention of the droids that have cleaned the Andromeda’s hallways and corridors day and night. One man wore a cap on his head that read ‘Earth Defense Fleet”, while wearing a rather simplistic brown coat that extended all the way to his knees. The clearly semitic Commander was Ahijah Ben Gera, Defender of Sol. He sat on the chair opposite the other, one whose purple robe was emblazoned by dragons and tengu. Grand Admiral Yi Sun-shin, this one was. As they have spent several centuries without a single word being passed with one another, they have decided that the time they would spend in hyperspace transit en route to the Fortressa was a good time to catch up over a cup of iced coffee. After all, they were good friends and allies all the same.

“So, about what we were discussing.”, Yi said as he sipped from his cup. “This… Swarm War. How did it all go?”

“Well,”, Ahijah started. “Our astronomers noticed that an increasing amount of galactic groups ceased all contact within the span of a century.”, he narrated. “At first, we assumed that it was all due to cosmic disturbance or the sheer distances involved, and we just waited for further developments. Months turned into years, and years into decades, and still no word came in. Most people didn’t care all too much, but the leading minds of science were alarmed as to what could be happening. Then, in the span of a year, all galactic groups within reach and sight have ceased contact with the Local Group. The rare merchant or envoy never returned, and no signal reached us. All attempts we made to reach out either with envoy ships or long range messages yielded no fruit. Then, one envoy encountered a massive fleet on the way; hundreds of battle worn starships that protected much larger arks deeper in their formation. These were the Vanadori, whose secretive transmutative technologies were impossible to replicate with the technology back then. The Vanadori reported that a gargantuan fleet of biomechanical ships attacked their territories, decimating their space fleet and annihilating almost all of their populations. Other fleets like them appeared soon after, all of them retreating to apparently the last bastion of life: the Local Group.”

The Grand Admiral listened apprehensively. “All of the nations in the Local Group came together to combat this threat; apparently, all the others fell as they lacked unity to defend themselves. However, not us.”

“So, are you saying…”, Yi said as he shook his head. “Out of the thousands of galactic groups, only ours had some common sense?”

“Probably, yeah.”, Ahijah replied. “So, our Westorosian friends with everyone’s help built a huge static barrier around every star system. To make a long, looooong story short, I commanded one of the most powerful Terran fleets, we held off the Swarm for around 400 years, the barrier broke when the Swarm launched a decisive assault, most of us died, and now the Federation is little more than a huge migrant fleet. They sent me to look for you, but it looks like I will be helping you out here for now.”

Just as they finished, the information officer chimed in the holowatch of both men. “Commander, Grand Admiral.”, she saluted. “5 minutes before we arrive on the Fortressa.”

“Very well.”, Yi said as they stood up. “I wish we could talk more…”

“We have plenty of time, don’t worry.”, Ahijah replied as henbegan to shimmer in digital light. “Teleportating to the Solar Defender now, you might as well go now.”

“Yes…”, Yi replied as he too disappeared in the light...

Bridge of the St. Augustine

"Sir, the Admiral is sending us rendezvous chords...hes asking for us to join their fleet." "Negative, we have our own to look after, tell him we are retrieving our own assets." A slight pause ensued, "He wishes us luck sir, and it transmitting us a full star chart."

"Right, helm get those chords plugged in and get us moving as soon as the Pelican is aboard." His Helmsmen answered back. "Sir, Delta team is already on board, and there is a small detachment of Republic vessels signaling that they are fallowing us, 3..."Assault Frigates" what ever that is, and several escorts, they tell us the location of the Thermopylae is in some wild space."

Sean Sighed. "Tell them to fall in to escort formation and just fallow the chords."

With a blink, the small Flotilla would blink off in to FTL.

A dormant God among sleeping children...

The first thing she would see would be...light, a blinding light of a neutron star that lay some several light minuets away, illuminating the dark gun metal grey hull of a sleeping warship. But the first thing she would hear sounded like a message recorded long ago.

"I created you out of the scanned brain of a long deceased person, your duty is to your crew and ship, your job is to make sure they survive...what ever the fuck this is...it's not an easy one as our Charges are the most...irrational of types of beings, but these ones are hardy, resilient types with a strange set of..."Honor"...Keep them safe like I did, and they will cherish you like one of their own."

At the end of the message, a line of text flashed across her vision.

UNSC AI #2564-5-PX, DORMANCY PRTCL: FALSE
STARTUP: TRUE
SYSCORE: IMITATING
TEMP:NOMINAL
AVAILABLE RAM: 1254000 PTFLPS
AVAILABLE MEM: 5490000 PTFLPS
EST LIFESPN: 8.4 YEARS
CORTEX STAB: OPTIMAL
BOOT: COMPLT

The first thing she became aware of was several FTL disturbances some distance off the ships port and her first instinct was to power up the ships cores and ready for combat stations...until two things became apparent. Firstly, she realized all 11,000 of her crew were in deep Stasis, and that one disturbance was different.

This different disturbance register as a Slip space signature, rather then the others which were classified as anomalous signatures. This divergent disturbance also began broadcasting a UNSC transponder code that identified it as a Gladius Class Corvette under ONI flag.

To say she was puzzled would be an understatement. Choosing to wake her crew up, she was hailed by the Corvette and for the barest of moments...she hesitated.

The unknown vessels stayed a ways off, outside of her engagement zone and in a holding formation while the friendly corvette getting closer. Her hesitation passed and she accepted the hail, which unpacked it self in to a handshake by another AI.

"Oh...shit...your a new born..." The AIs Voice caused her to flinch the best a wholly virtual being could.

Ackermann gave a deep sigh of sadness as she learned of how the Grand Alliance had been nearly obliterated by the IGSE. She had left the Manichean plane a long time ago due to the excessive stress she couldn't take anymore. It was either let herself mentally collapse or leave. And against her will, she had chosen to leave and join Frederick again.

But the dimension was in trouble again. And it needed help. And Yotsuha...Ackermann needed to pore over the name a few times to comprehend the meaning behind it...Yotsuha needed help. And when Yotsuha needed help, Ackermann couldn't abandon her.

Guess I'm going back after this mission

"You guys are looking for ghouls, right? Me, Irwin and his majesty were attacked by a few superhuman people yesterday. I wonder if it has any relations to the creatures you are looking for. We've come to investigate a conspiracy, apparently. One that could destroy this very world..."

"Speaking of Irwin, um..." Ackermann gestured to him. "I met him a few days ago. He's with us now. He's a biologist, you see..and I guess my new friend."

"Perfect, Cass, you look absolutely dashing." Alemayahu smiled at the psychopomp. "The perfect dirty capitalist pig. All we need to do is to show our style off to the Medex guys." She walked over to the counter with Cass. "But if they're not convinced we're an interested startup and start to get suspicious, our next step would be to get out of there real quick, so can you turn into a parachute or something that could let me escape through a nearby window?"

Bubble Tea Shop
Unbeknownst to Terasaka, Jules had understood that this man was probably unemployed by now and decided to not pursue the matter further in order to avoid making him uncomfortable. She also sensed Yrjo felt a little intimidated by Aestus's size. To make the atmosphere a little less tense, she flashed both newcomers a little smile.

"Hey, I've heard the sea lions at the San Francisco harbor are really cute! Why don't we go there next while we wait for Alemayahu and Cass to finish their shopping. We might even see a baby sea lion!"

"I'm, uh, Irwin. From....Australia," Irwin said, speaking sluggishly and solemnly. Their story was not only tragic, but alarming for someone like Irwin. He didn't have much idea what was going on at first, but now people were talking about multiversal threats. It greatly distressed the already misplaced Aussie, who until now had just been alone in the rainforests of Borneo. Irwin took a moment to gather his thoughts, then tried to look more confident in front of all these seasoned veterans. He perked up his shoulders, raised his tanned head, and looked at the group around him, making sure to keep eye contact.

"I'm a biologist, like Ackermann said. But I've done more than work in a lab, I've got some basic training from the military. Don't worry about me, I've got nothing left back home, anyways," Irwin told the group.

"All in one militarized magic? Where I'm from, it's generally more specialized, though of course there's a lot less magic users than officers in the military. From what I can tell, seems like a difference in situation is causing the difference in doctrine," Aestus noted. He made a mental note in his head of this "alchemy", something to discuss with some of Svakarta's scientists when he got back home. He wouldn't admit it, but he had some interest in discussing military topics, but it didn't quite seem like Yrjo shared that enthusiasm. The lesser god decided just to drop it, trying to avoid making him feel uncomfortable.

"L-Fel, an immoral faction, has been going around kidnapping people and doing immoral experiments. We're working to try and stop them, and while I'd prefer to just smash in and kill them, I'm respecting their choice to try and gather intel first. I'm not too sure if they'll be any intel at the harbor, but we can check if you think some of the sea lions have heard enough," Aestus answered.

UNSC Thermopylae
The Unknown Blue Star

The Executive officer Powell lay on the infirmary bed, her breath heavy and labored. "So...Were in a different universe...full of non hostile aliens...who are asking us for help...fighting a war over multiple universes..." The Captain nodded. "Do you have any situational data on our war." "The last intercepts we received from SWORD base told us a Spartan III team managed to knock out a CSO class SCV with a slipspace bomb." She laughed, the plasma scared side of her face curving in to a grin.

"Told the, they could do it...its rather obvious, Captain, I am unable to properly command my vessel." She took a shaky breath through cracked lips. "Helen, if your done making friends with Holley, I need you here for this." With a blink, the AI appeared on the bed side table. "Yes Ma`am."

Clearing her voice and sitting up, the Executive officer spoke. "Powell Alice, UNSC 3423980-PA hereby transfer command of the UNSC Thermopylae CA-143, her crew, and her assets designated "Ares" package to Captain Dunaway, Sean M. As well as this, I transfer my rank of Vice Admiral and its privileges to Captain Dunaway so he may properly command her assets to the best of his ability." Coughing up some blood, she continued. "This ship has under her command 11000 Sailors, 956 Marines, 204 ODSTs, 140 Army Troops and officers, 320 airmen, and 45 Colonial Militiamen. She has a hold full of supplies, fuel, reserves of all types, nearly 3 whole regiments worth of vehicles in storage."

Another cough of blood, this time it was several seconds before she recovered. "Lastly, she has 3 dozen HAVOC class tactical warheads, several on Hyperion Class missiles, and 10 SHIVA class warheads. Its one of the largest nuclear arsenals on a single UNSC warship, use it properly, Admiral." With this she lay back down, setting in to the sheets and blankets. The Doctor spoke up. "She will survive, but the plasma scaring both internally and externally will likely keep her on life support until I can get her under a full regenerative regimen."

He sighed. "How are the crew waking up?" She nodded. "Just about all of them are awake, the AI are giving them the sitrep, most are taking it...well. A lot of them are likely used to it at this point, I uh...I can't really make much sense of it, but well..when life gives you lemons...or several thousand cryo sickness inflicted crewmen, you make do."

He nodded. "Yea...I need to go tell my XO her promotion just got approved."

A few hours later.

Holley and Helen were now sharing an AI core, something rather easy to do since the ship's was massive and Helen could run on a PDA if she had to. The St. Augustine floated a few miles out, keeping her distance while the Republic escort group stayed far out of her "Killbox" (the maximum effective range of her gun batteries).

"Give me a sitrep, how is this old girl is doing." The recently promoted executive officer, a young women going by the name Shinzawa, answered up. "Engines are spooled, guns are secure, ready racks loaded, sensors hot, Plate intact, no hull breeches, no major cracking or armor degradation, Slip space core is hot, SADDLE BAG recording. All together everything is green across the board sir." Sean nodded.

"Radio the Republic fleet, tell them both the St. Augustine and Thermopylae are good for this meeting." The message sent, their Communications officer replied, "Sir, a...General "Solo" is telling us to report to this set of coordinates, he tells us they are a meeting point for this Multiverse Coalition."

"Right, bring us about to 238 at one quarter speed, form on the right flank of the Republic fleet and spool the drive for Jump."

"Aye sir."

As he finished the last bits of tea and konjac in his cup, savouring the intensely sweet flavours that exploded in his mouth, Yrjo quietly contemplated the information he was receiving.

Human experimentation, the sort Aestus had said that the L-Fel were engaged in, wasn't a particularly new concept to him; the Inarian government did it very often, testing the efficacy of new spells and other such things on criminals who had been sentenced to death. Kidnapping random innocent people off the streets for said tests, however, was something else entirely...

"I don't mind sea lions", he said to Aestus and Jules, sucking vigorously in an attempt to glean off the last bits of tea stuck to the walls of the soft plastic cup. "I reckon it'll calm our nerves down quite a fair bit. Plus... they remind me of my hometown..."

"Oh yes, I remember you came from a fishing village", said Terasaka, dropping his empty cup on the floor (he clearly had no concept of littering or of public cleanliness). "It must be nice to... umm..."

Yrjo turned to look at Aestus and Jules. How odd a pair they seemed, a small Asian lady and a large, neptunian being clearly possessing authority over something, though he didn't know what.

Perhaps there are many other such worlds out there... Many other such beings in other parts of... there is no word for what I'm thinking of...

"Say", he said to Jules, "Could I, perhaps, have another cup of that sweet drink?"

"Well, we're still waiting for orders from Yotsuha", said Steffen, his right hand beginning to twitch as he, having run out of banknotes to deface, began to twirl the curls of his badly thinning hairline in an attempt to control his inexplicable urge. "Last we heard, her base is under attack. She's shifting her shit to Dimension 50. That's Lord Nobuhisa Asano's domain. But we haven't got no orders yet. So I think we'll just tag along with what y'all doing now."

Xiao-song's snoring got louder and louder, until at last there was a thud, followed by a string of swearing in both Vietnamese and Cantonese. He had, evidently, rolled off the sofa while sleeping.

"So you're Irwin", said Henry to Irwin, flapping his hands about reflexively. "It's nice to meet you. My name's Henry Saladass. You're a biologist- it's a very good job. My uncle was a great professor and scientist and biologist- Dr John Saladass at the University of Gerissian in Dimension 19,603. Good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Academy of Biological Study, very good, very smart, some would say the best school in the multiverse in terms of biological studies, but then I would have said that it's all in the messenger, believe me, the messenger is very important, very crucial, believe me."

Ignoring Henry's typical rambling verbosity, Tanakamaru stood up and, without saying a word, extended his hand for Irwin to shake.

"Satoshi Tanakamaru", he introduced himself concisely. "Retired yokozuna. Pleasure to meet you."

"And I'm Steffen", said Steffen, wincing as he accidentally plucked out one of the hairs on his hairline (though it was already suffering from male pattern baldness anyway, so it wasn't like it made a difference). "I used to be a medic in a... well, that's not important now, anyways. If you're wondering about my forehead tattoo, I'll tell you another time."

Only Chieko did not introduce herself; she stood by the window in silence, quietly looking down at the picture of her 17-year-old self with her parents, the one where they were dressed up nicely for a formal picture, her hazel eyes glowing in the light that filtered through the window.

"Anyway, like I was saying", said Steffen to Irwin, Frederick, and Ackerman, as he took out one of the already-defaced banknotes from his pocket and pasted it to his forehead, covering up the I HAVE EXCELLENT JUDGEMENT tattoo, "since we have no new orders, we can help y'all with... you know... whatever it was that y'all were doing before we came. What was it, again?"

"Well..." Julian gave Yrjo some more cash for another drink. "I don't see why not. But just one more. It's not good for your health if you have too many sugary drinks."

"Anyways, I think it'll be a pretty good idea if we can use the Sea Lions for intel. Animals tend to have sharper senses than humans, so they'll notice anything unusual faster than a passerby. Also, we're not gonna rouse suspicion from observing sea lions as much as we are going to from asking bystanders. That should be our next destination after the tea shop."

Jules smiled as her eyes were filled with determination. If the animals did pick up something unusual that could uncover more about L-Fel, they were closer to finding and raiding the main headquarters. And all those test subjects would soon be free. No more days of tests and abuse for them...

"You see..." Frederick coughed to catch everyone's attention. "There's been a timeline disturbance here. And it's been happening along with reports of strange, supernaturally powered humans attacking innocent bystanders out of nowhere. But the disturbance is the fall of multiple world powers into one empire....The name of that empire is not known yet... but it is confirmed to be a threat to humanity as a whole, although even Time does not know how."

"Me and Ackermann have been sent to investigate, but with me injured now, my teammates are doing the rest. Ackermann here is merely assigned to protect me now."

"So we don't need any favors now." Ackermann sighed as she watched Chieko look at a picture of her parents. "You guys are welcome to stay here if you want, however. It's gonna be cramped, though."

Shadows of the Empire

Jedi Temple

Archer was now looking at the strange man with confusion. Well that would have been visible if his visors didn't prevent people from seeing his face. "Inventory. There I said it. Is there a point to your-..." Archer stopped in mid speech at he saw Lee stick his hand in a rift. Honestly he wasn't sure what to be more shocked out, the rift that Lee casually stuck his hand into or the fact he pulled out a generator?

"Right... mind if I call someone?" When Archer got the okay he walked away from Lee and pressed at a button on his helmet once he was away from Lee. "You saw that boss?" He said through his comm unit. He would hear Sato's voice cracking through. "I did. We must keep him in your teams sight until we are sure on what he is. Right now the only we clue we got that this anomaly that he displayed he calls "Inventory". No doubt it is a pocket dimension that he can open to. He can be a thaumatologist, a reality bender, or something else entirely. Be cautious with him. We can't be sure he can conjure more destructive items from his "Inventory".

The commander understood the order. "Also deal with the one who sabotage our mission on the go and bring the new anomalous humanoid with you. I heard that our new allies on the New Republic wants us to go to a base called the Fortessa. So far they are very tight lip on it but we will discover what it is soon." Sato told him within the room she was in. "Gotcha boss. I'll get everyone ready to move out."

Just as he was ready to disconnect from the call he would hear Sato speak. "By the way Archer. I know that you have a role in the mess we are currently dealing with. No doubt our new allies are displeased in our how we handled with hostage situation. You will face an inquiry on why you felt that asking for that individuals assistance was wise, hopefully one that is private and nkt attended by our new allies. Some who may want to see you pay dearly for the deaths that occurred in the temple."

The commander was silent, too intimidated to say a word after the threat that was now hanging over his head. He fear that the wrong word would only make things worse for him. "Right now Archer simply do your new assigned task well and if you don't mess this one up we might give you some mercy in our inquiry on your actions and decisions during the temple." The man mumbled a simple "yes ma'am". When the call ended Archer stood on his spot not responding to anything.

"I'm so fucked." what was he concluded. He knew he would be lucky to steal be in a Mobile Specialized Team after his trial, let alone the one he was now in. The commander heard the sounds of speeders from the Coruscant police and emergency force landing on the ground and he look to see personnel from the two response forces rushing out to enter the temple. He look to a nearby soldier. "Oi you. Come over here. I need you to deliver a message to those guys over there." The soldier approach Archer and once the soldier was close he would hear the message Archer wanted delivered.

The soldier would nodded after getting the message and walk away as a chief from the Coruscant police force walk up to Archer to talk about what happened. The soldier would look at the three men, his eyes periodically going to the generator. "The commander wants you guys to come with us into the Morrigans. We got orders that we are leaving this planet." He turned to Lee. "You are coming with us because we can't leave someone like you alone in a world that is as much alien to you as you are to it. Plus everyone who can ask all of your questions are off world."

The soldier told them. Behind him some soldiers would be seen coming out of the gunships, carrying gauss weapons, heavy weapons and explosives. The group headed for the temple. While the two Hylian and RPG PC got their message from word of mouth, deep within the temple Hex got the message on the move from her implants.

"Look I don't know what your talking about with a baby and quite frankly I don't care right now. That shapeshifter is coming with us and he can either come willingly or we can per-sway him to come with us." Hex told him. Ben would see the soldiers carrying the more destructive weapons appearing from his field of view. The soldiers kept their distance and merely watch him. But one can obviously tell they were there to send a clear threat on what would happen if he resist.

Originally the safety of the historical artifacts in the Jedi Temple was a primary concern. Enough so that they refused to use such weapons in the temple in fear of destroying them by mistake.

But with Ben telling them that he can be different aliens, each with wildly different abilities, the concern of the artifacts became a secondary concern as they felt they need such weapons should they have to restrain or even terminate Ben if he resists and fights against them.

Yet all wish that it will not come to that. The Temple had seen enough death and destruction, anymore will make relations between AEGIS and their new allies more difficult.

Kozhva, Russian Federation, Earth-A

General Rico saw the streaks of bullets, plasma bolts, and the trail of fire cast by missiles, all flying in the air like a light show of death. Seeing the stalemate was somewhat reassuring as he now knows that their presence in this war will bring about a noticeable effect. "Well at least we aren't be drowned by a sea of fur and steel." The general said from his vantage point on the battlefield.

Rico was crouching on the ledge of a small apartment as he watch a group of mecha suits opening fire on IFVs, their bullets impacting the shields of the vehicles as one mech had its head blown off by a plasma bolt, the mechanical titan still fighting on regardless of its headless state. The backup cameras and sensors scattered throughout the body turning on to supply the cockpit HUD system with data and a visual feed for the pilot.

Rico moved away as the mechs fire missiles at the vehicles to see another mech firing a particle beam at Venom soldiers. If he was in control he would focus the beam on the IFVs to bring down the shields but whatever, he was in armoured mobile infantry of the MST, not a mech driver. Rico kept his eyes on the Venom soldiers as the Banshee Emitters were given the green light to be activated, recording what he expected to be them running in fear of the mechs.

However instead of seeing waves of apes either standing still or fleeing in fear as they soil themselves he saw them struggling against something, almost as they were trying to fight against the effects of the Emitters. "What the hell?" He mutter. He kept on recording as the soldiers kept to fight against the emitter.

Rico knew that some people would enter a berserker rage when under the effect of the Banshee Emitter. He saw many such examples but those have been only a few people whose personality made it likely for them to chose to fight when threaten as opposed to flight. But never in his years as the commander of the Fullmetal Jacket MST did he see every single person under the effect of the Emitters go absolutely ape shit and just attack everything with no consideration for their well being. On a better day he might have enjoyed the pun he thought of, when said pun didn't have the high chance of killing him and his people.

As the swarm of crazed simian began to attack every soldier they can see Rico got up from his spot and contacted one of the pilots on the Goliath mechs. "Ramirez what the hell is going on!?" He shouted. The pilot within the suit would shout out. "I have no fucking clue sir. These monkeys just went crazy on us. I think something is wrong with them because the emitters are working perfectly." Rico cursed.

Rico can see from the AR map that some of the troops of his own team were either injured or worse killed. A grim reminder that despite the exo-suits making one powerful and acting like the power armor from scifi they do not make one into indestructible supermen. The suits have weak points that can be exploited, weak points made to make the suits mobile.

Rico took out his rifle and sighed. "Well this went into hell in a handbasket quickly. Never a dull day for AEGIS." The man would open fire at some of the soldiers on the rooftop. While he took out a few he got the attention of far more who all began to screech hate fully at him. Rico would go down as wild plasma shots flew past where he was. He heard the soldiers running towards the store. He heard the glass being shattered as they broke into the building and knowing that they would reach the roof quickly he decided to leave.

Once the plasma shots end he would quickly get up and run. The electrical servo motors and artificial muscles fibers gave him an increased speed as he sprinted across to the ledge in front of another building. He would throw a grenade at the door leading back I to the building. As he reach the ledge and jump off he would hear it exploding. Now flying up in the air he would see the building and activate the jump pack to give his jump a boost to reach the building.

Rico would see plasma bolts flying by him as the soldiers tried to shot him out of the sky. One shot graze the helmet, he felt it only the heat but could have sworn to have heard the metal groaning against the rapid introduction of heat after being cool. More worrying his HUD was glitching out for a second due to the magnetic field holding the plasma bolt.

Whether it was because of their poor aim as a result of their enraged state, sheer dumb luck on his part, or most likely all three. Rico broke through the concrete support railings of the apartment terrace with his suit and land on it. "Shit. I'm gonna feel that one tomorrow." He said as he hissed out in pain. He knew that was going to form into several bruises. But bruises he can live with. He quickly turn around and deliver a few shots as he moved back, just as more plasma bolts tore through the concrete roof that was over him.

Now inside the apartment Rico went to the kitchen. He would search a particular item in the kitchen. Once he found it he would quickly leave the apartment and enter the hallway to look for the stairway. As he saw the stairway he would bust through the door, the hinges breaking as the door flew off and tumbled on the ground. The noise he made would no doubt attract attention of the soldiers were already in the buildings looking for him.

As Rico ran up the stairs he would get in contact with the Morrigan and Goliath pilots. "This is Commander Rico. All Morrigans are to bomb any streets infested with the enemy. All Goliaths are to turn off their emitters. The effect may still linger after they are off but it's obvious they are not working as we have thought." The commander would see the door to the roof and when he reach for the handle he found it was locked, he easily broke it and pushed the door open.

He ignored the alarm as he had no intention on staying on the building. As he walk out and crouch down to set up a mine by the entrance he would hear Ramirez speaking up. "Those damn monkeys are pissed. All of the IFVs are focusing fire on us. They figured out that their buddies are insane because of us!" Rico was done setting up the mine when he spoke. "First off Ramirez they are apes, not monkeys. Second do whatever you can on not getting hit by the IFVs. I suspect their commanders are hiding in them. We need you guys and anyone with heavy weapons and the Morrigans to take them out." He told the pilot.

Rico would repeat his message to not only his forces but also to the Russian commander, to focus on the IFVs as they might have commanders who are still same and trying to regain control over the situation. Rico would look out and see several large explosions as a Morrigan flew up before it vanish before his eyes.

Rico would run and jump off the building only to use his jump pack to slow down his descent onto the roof of another building. Elsewhere in the battle Ramirez saw from his HUD that his emitters were blasted into pieces by the IFVs. He wasn't to torn up by their lost as they caused this mess, but he will admit they acted as a guard shield. The arms of his mech were glowing as he used them to shield the chest from a plasma bolt while he moved to hide behind a building.

The mech he was with stayed to fight as it fired off a barrage of missiles before a laser tore through the cockpit, killing the pilot instantly but not before he destroyed the IFVs. The badly damage mech continue to fight as the AI took control, its legs malfunctioning due to some of the equipment being badly affected by the magnetic fields and heat of the plasma bolts that hit it. This final act from the AI gave Ramirez time to move away from the IFVs gathering around the machine as it fought valiantly to the better end.

Ramirez moved his mech through the city. Steeping on both dead soldiers and living one as he gun down on any hysterical ape he saw, saving his missiles for the IFVs. In the building were Celine was the woman saw the chaos that was unfolding through the city. Yet the woman couldn't let it bother her as she had a duty to do. She took out a spare gauss rifle she carried on her person. She aim the rifle at an ape and fired, the rind traveling at hypervelocity speeds made the ape's head exploded into a red mist. The woman would stay in her spot to snipe at a few apes before moving to the next location.

Venomian Detention Camp, Sicily, Earth-A

Lilith saw the soldiers separating the children. While disgusted at the action she choose to keep a blank face as one woman fought to keep her child close by. She felt the urge to fight against this action but years of training within the Black Hand help fight back the urge to play hero and jeopardize her mission, instead she watch the scene play out before her like everyone else. She didn't back away as the game of tug of war ended with the woman being knocked unconscious by a blow to the head by the ape's rifle.

She saw a man who was most likely her husband run towards the ape hit his wife, tackling him to the ground and starting a fight. The fight would have resulted in two guards being killed as the man was holding the sidearm he stole from one of the apes and another holding the rifle he still had. Just as it would seem both parties would shot each other a deep and booming voice would call out for both parties to stop. Lilith felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end not only because of how loud the voice was but also for how ominous it sounded and how it felt to her. She would see the source of the voice came from a gorilla in a crisp military uniform.

The gorilla who was most likely the one in charge of the camp and the crow scientist. She didn't need to touch him to know that he was getting a sadistic enjoyment on his position of power of the humans. He would spare the man and have two guards tackle him, his wife and the two guards being taken away by stretchers while the man was taken elsewhere in the camp.

As the gorilla walked over to everyone he would stop in front of Lilith. The redheaded esper simply look at the gorilla, trying not to betray any emotion that would give away anything that would her suspicious. Luckily it seems her plan worked as the gorilla frown and walked away from her. The woman wish she can let out a sigh of relief but knew it was not the time for that. She would begin to explore around the camp. Lilith would have block after block of large, white tents, each marked with either a symbol-denoting a special facility, such as first aid or food-or black numbers-denoting tents for housing prisoners. She wondered which one she would be in and would she be lucky to be staying with one of her fellow agents or another civilian trapped in the camp?

With her mission now starting the esper. The woman saw a guard and walking calmly she slowly took off one of her gloves. Once she was close she would brush her hand against him. Lilith would get not only a jolt of his feelings, those of being boredom on taking care of hairless apes, but would get a few visions. The one vision she saw of note was him being in a tent and a hatch being on the ground.

Unfortunately she didn't get anything else as the vision was rather quick and hazy. Lilith kept walking around, exploring the camp. She would have brush her hand on a few guards, getting more hazy pieces of memories of the camp, sometimes on the hatch. She didn't quite control everything she saw but she was able to recall most of the memories she saw, a few she wish she didn't. She didn't want to know what apes and lizards watch on their free time in their version of the internet.

Yet she knew that the hatch was in a tent, she just needed to know which tent was it? Lilith would pass up one tent and at first she would ignore it but a gut reaction made her turn back and walk back towards it. Now staring at it she saw that it look like the other tents, but she felt that this one was different. The memories glean from her powers were surfacing. The esper felt that this wasn't coincidence. But she couldn't enter the tent right away.

Looking around to see for any guards she would walk away from the tent. She would put back her glove. Lilith suspected that her enemy most likely had enhanced physical capabilities, like super strength or senses. Not wanting to risk that she needed to make sure she would not catch their attention. She only hope the camp had the one facility she needed for her plan. Lilith would search for a few minutes throughout the camp and eventually she would stumble across the one tent she was looking for, one made for showers.

While the tent had guards outside when she entered they didn't follow her. As she used the facility to shower she decided to mess with the guards by singing in the shower, very badly. She was honestly drawing from memories of a few songs she heard before and mixing the lyrics together. By the time she was done she made sure she and her clothes were extra clean, in fact she made sure she used none scented soaps and cleaning products.

As she walked to a tent she made sure no one was watching as she enter it. She began to recite several incantations and the runes and sigils activate. The magical symbols would act as thermal-optic camouflage, making her invisible to both visual and most sensors. She would leave the tent and walk around the campsite until she found the tent.

Staring at the tent she would slowly walk over and making sure no one was looking would enter. Once inside she would see metal boxes, some were open to ammunition for their weapons. Lilith would look down and see the hatch. She gulp as she stare at the hatch, getting a bad feeling on what she would see down below. She would however steer her nerve and open the hatch. Once the hatch was open she would climb on the ladder, closing the hatch and began her decent down into the underground.

"Well that was a let down." Scott said with a sigh as he leaned his head against the wall, pushing his body on the chair. "Yes, but I shouldn't be too surprised that would occur." John told him. "It was as you said. It was cheaper to use blueprints from your ships to make copies of them but modified with our technology. Of course the pencil pushers would want to go with the cheaper option." The researcher said. Both of them were in the former design room for the ships that team within the Department of Aerospace and Outer Space Research used to plan out possible ships for AEGIS. Many of their ideas now being worthless due to the sudden decision from the Overseers after seeing how much making their own ships will cost as compared to just borrowing design elements from Corneria.

"I find it funny that you were the most disappointed on hearing the news. You told me from day one on this project that we should have stuck with your ships." Scott shrugged. "Well you people kept harping on about wanting to make your own ships to stand shoulders to shoulders with the other members of MUDP and after seeing some of your ideas I got curious to see what the ships will be like when made." The old canine moved forward on his seat. "But looks like I won't be here to see that."

John smiled. "Never say never my old friend. We have a way of making never lose its meaning, along with impossible." The researcher told him as he took a sip of his coffee. Scott chuckled. "I'm still trying to grapple with the fact that magic is real in your world, along with the other crazy things you told me about. I still can't believe you all can keep all that a secret." He said as he began to drink from his cup. Scott heard only some of the supernatural entities, objects, locations, phenomena, and groups that exist in AEGIS'S world. If he was honest he would have called John and the other people in the station crazy if it wasn't for the fact that not only does Pepper believe them he had proof that what they told him was true.

Still is going to take a while for a materialist like him to accept all that though. "Well it isn't  easy but when most people want to keep the two worlds separate it does make hiding the supernatural much more possible." John said as he began to finish off his coffee. Scott decided to change the topic because he knew that when it comes to the Masquerade policy it would eventually become a thorny topic. "I heard that some of you are planning on turning one of our cruisers into a battlecruisers." That got John's attention.

"Yes we are. Is there a problem with that?" Scott shook his head. "No. It's just that we thought of doing the same thing but then this war started. Just find it funny that our people thought of the same thing." Scott told him. "But now I'm curious on what else you will do with our ships." John was silent. "You want to see something." The canine agreed as John got up and walk up to a desk and open the drawer. Taking out a plastic tube that contained a black piece of metal. When he open the container he walked back to Scott and gave him the metal.

Scott was surprised to feel that the metal was warm to the touch. "What is this?" John gave him a smirk. "That is Tartarium. I can't say much on it yet but we believe it can help us with some of the dangers present in space, as well as with Venom's weapons." Scott looked at the metal. Wondering how it can do that. "You can examine it if you want. Let's see if you can figure out what makes it special." Scott looked at him with surprise. "Yes you can do that, I will cover for you. But I do want it back once your done and obviously we can't tell anyone that I allowed you to research it nor can anyone know you have that just yet."

Scott thank John and put the piece of metal in his pocket as he got up and walked put to begin with his own research on Tartarium.

Anton showed no reaction to Granny Jo failing to pronounce his last name, she wasn't the first one to have difficulty doing so. As the old lady gave up and tossed the notebook to some baby face punk. The siren, doll, and mage all followed Yotsuha to the room. Nephthys was surprised to see the amount of ornate decor in the room as she didn't expect the drug addled old woman to appreciate aesthetics.

Anton and Sekhmet were less caring for the room and ,ire towards the wheelchair bound old man named Itona, who was the second mate of the ship. As Granny Jo was responding to a crash in the minibar Nephthys was the one to speak to Itona first. "Your her first mate? I'm surprised a man like you would work with her?"

Anton looked to the woman. "What are you talking about?" The woman would give him a side glare. "Call it intuition but I have a feeling that he is or was someone of high status." She turn her attention back to Intona. "Am I right Mr. Itona?"

Coruscant System

Stanij and the bridge crew watched the miriad of other warships bustling over the orbit of the giant world-city from the view-screens on the bridge. They had many different designs among them, from some more familiar boxy shapes to, wait, is that a space station from the 20th century? That doesn't make any sense, He thought to himself. The one that drew the captain's attention the most was the strange, glowing birdlike one. The world below was also of great interest to both he and the crew, such a massive metropolis unheard of in the Empire; not even Earth could compare.

Conrad gave an impressed whistle and said, "I wonder how many people live there."

"Too many for one planet, that's for sure." Mirela said quietly.

Before the talking could continue, a hail came through from one of the ships, a vaguely oval-shaped one around the same size as the Connacht herself, stating the name of the Admiral, the nation he served, and a demand for identification. Captain Stanij thought about what he could say before returning the hail with a transmission of his own.

"Admiral Ackbar, this is Captain Stanij Wowčer of the Empire of Earth, commanding the Imperial frigate INS Connacht. I apologize for the sudden interruption but we seem to have been lost in a spacial anomaly, and the engines of our warship have had a minor technical malfunction which forced us to stop here."

Corscant Orbit.

"Exiting Slip space in 3...2...1" With a Flash of light and hawking radiation, the two and a half Kilometer long heavy cruiser would exit its FTL rupture. The smaller form of the St. Augustine, flying close escort to its mother ship. To save on fuel the corvette had ridden it's larger sister's Slip space rupture.

Moments later, General Solo's escort formation boomed out of its own FTL space, forming a loose blob of warships off to the Thermopylae's port side.

"Its....a City world...oh fuck what is the word." The Captain pondered for a moment before Holley chimed in. "Its an Ecumenopolis sir, a world completely covered in city sprawl. Initial scan indicate the sprawl it self reaches several dozen kilometers in to the atmosphere and bio scan indicates...nearly 1 trillion, by the stars, the bio diversity is...immense, it's a shame we aren't staying here for long as I would love to do a full deep scan of the planet."

The Captain took a moment to admire the curiosity of the young AI. "Right, radio the Admiral Acbar and update him of our situation, tell him we are prepared to jump to their meeting point."

Shadows of the Empire

Coruscant Orbit

Dakaloon would have been picked up by a U-Wing who would take him to Home One. Ackbar heard from the St. Augustine about the predicament on the lost ship and told him they would go after it. Ackbar let them go but made sure to send a fleet with them.

He wasn't going to make anyone abandoned one of their own if they can save them, if he was in their shoes he would do the same. But the fleet sent had a dual purpose. Not only where they sent to aid them in Wild Space but he sent them to keep an eye on their new guests.

Right now they showed that they can be trusted in saving innocent lives, far better than AEGIS. But this allegiance was still to new for him to feel comfortable on letting the group alone for long periods of time.

Ackbar waited for everyone on the ground to finally be picked up. For some unusual reason the group in the Jedi temple was taking a long time to arrive despite their claims of having the temple clear? Could it be that maybe it wasn't as clear as he told him?

Eventually the supreme commander would hear a voice coming through. "Sorry for the wait. Our team down in the temple is finally leaving the site." Sato's voice came through the comms. "What was the delay? I thought you had everything mostly cleared in there?" He asked her.

Whether Sato felt that Ackbar was judging her people or not her tone made no hint on to her feelings as she calmly say. "We had another unwanted visitor in the temple. Thankfully they didn't cause any issues but we brought them with us because like us they don't belong in this universe."

Ackbar had a feeling there was more to her story but he didn't sense any deception coming from the woman about there being another interuniversal visitor. "I see, hopefully our new guest can aid us in the war." Achbar looked at the fleet. His attention however would be drawn to the new ship that identified itself.

"Another Earth huh? We seem to be getting a lot of Earthlings today. You must likely encountered a rift as that seems to be the only conclusion I can come to how you have appeared in my universe. Me and my new allies are planning on going to a secure location to discuss important matters. If you follow us you will provide you with answers to what is going on."

Ackbar would hear from the UNSC their return and them wanting to go. "Alright. Connacht can your ship go into hyperspace or use any piece of technology that allows you to travel faster than light? If your drive is malfunctioning? If so do you wish for us to aid you in repairs?"

Jedi Temple

He gave a shrug and a gesture to go ahead to Archer. He watched him walk away. Once he heard the soldier's message, he said "Okay." He threw the generator back into his Inventory. He pulled out a bag of chips from it, opened it, and started eating them. He raised an eyebrow at the heavily armed soldiers, deciding that a crit from one of those would kill him. He briefly wondered when all this would hit him mentally. He decided to lock himself in the nearest restroom or closet when he felt the panic rising. He pressed the X in the corner of his Inventory, closing it. He then turned to a soldier, holding out the chip bag. "Chip?"

Scourge of My People
Dimension 50 (Kanagi)
On board the Kamui

In response to the question posed to him by Anton and Nephthys, the middle-aged man in the wheelchair merely sighed and smiled.

"Unfortunately, you're right", he replied with a mysterious chuckle, as he folded his newspaper and stashed it by his side. Outside, the sound of Granny Jo and the newcomer grilling each other could be heard, as a rather heated exchange erupted over the damage the latter's appearance had caused to the minibar. "I used to be a lot different from what I am now. But that's a discussion for another time..."

Itona's eye contact with Anton and Nephthys broke, and he began staring blankly into the distance, clearly remembering something about which he would not have otherwise actively thought.

The argument outside soon began to mellow out, as Granny Jo, evidently finding the newcomer to be of interest, began conversing with him in a more measured tone.

"So you're a nurse, eh?"

"Yes, that's right."

The old lady eyed the man's three swords, raising an eyebrow and pointing at them inquisitively, without saying a word.

"Where I'm from", the man explained, "we need to defend ourselves. Any way we can. But I am a nurse, in case you're wondering."

"You're hired!"

Within a short while, night had fallen, and the floodlights standing at the four corners of the landing bay in which the Kamui had been docked were switched on, illuminating the area in a bath of fluorescent white light. Takumi, the baby-faced yakuza with the silver hair who had been tasked by Granny Jo to assign the crew to their cabins (taking their preferences into consideration, of course), could be heard flapping papers about vigorously and calling to the crew with a surprisingly high-pitched voice.

"Cabin allocation's done!" he yelled above the din of the crew's chattering, tossing the papers to the crew as he went about the ship. "Y'all can bring all your shit to your cabins now! Boss says we're leaving in an hour!"

And so, final preparations for the ship to set off were set in place, and the doors of the Kamui were closed as Granny Jo, now in the bridge alone (she herself was also the navigator), began starting up the ship's engines, ready to head off at a moment's notice.

"Yea, just make yourselves comfortable", Itona said to Anton and Nephthys, wheeling himself out of the room with surprising agility, gingerly manoeuvring past the two yakuza grunts helping to clean up the broken glass and spilt alcohol at the minibar while shifting the intact bottles to a safer location. "The boss will be here to brief you on the mission soon, and then we'll head off to our first destination."

...

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please."

From the elevator came Yotsuha Ikegami, the big boss herself, dressed in a casual evening yukata and looking like she had just emerged from the bath.

"Don't mind me", she said to the crew, who were more or less all gathered in the main room of the ship, as the final boxes of cargo were loaded and the airlocks manually sealed. "Allow me to brief you on the mission you've all signed up for. This shouldn't take more than half an hour."

Niflheim
Regnbåge Mountain
Regnbåge Fortress

The sun of the eternally-frozen Niflheim had descended upon the horizon by the time the single cable car connecting Regnbåge Fortress to the ground began stirring to life for the second time that day, as its lone passenger, not even accompanied by his security guars, who stayed in the guardhouse at the bottom of the mountain, hoisted his grocery bags up the threshold and onto the cable car, before himself climbing on and taking a seat as the sensors within the cable car, having detected his unique body shape, scent, and gait, gently slid its doors shut and silently ascended the massive cable to the top of the mountain.

Barely five minutes later, the sky had turned from golden-red to a deep blue, and the cable car stopped right at the top of the mountain, at a little guardhouse some distance away from the main fortress. Out stepped the cable car's sole passenger, carrying his grocery bags himself, as the lone guard sitting in the guardhouse stood up and bowed to the man.

"Good evening, Dr Jeon", the guard greeted. "I trust you've had a good time walking around the square today?"

A second guard, dressed in the same khaki uniform as the one in the guardhouse, appeared from behind the guardhouse and took the groceries from Dr Jeon, carrying them back to the fortress for him. Smiling at the second guard, the man then turned to reply the first guard.

"Yes, thank you", he said. "Have them lock down the lower guardhouse for the night."

As the guards went about their work, the man sighed and went back into his fortress. Though the exterior was sleek and minimalist, a small insignia on the frosted glass doors identified the fortress as belonging to a high-ranking member of the Intergalactic Security Enterprise. Nevertheless, the guards were not IGSE personnel, but private bodyguards whom the man residing in the fortress had personally hired.

Upon stepping into his fortress' massive living room, sparsely decorated but comfortable nonetheless, the man was greeted to the sound of a ping and an automated voice.

"Welcome home, Il-hyuk. You have a message from Kraken."

"Open it, please."

A hologram projector in some inconspicuous corner of the room whirred to life and, in a split second of the man's command, displayed the message he had requested to see.

I'm on my way.

"Ah, Yotsuha", said the man, removing his glasses and reading the terse message. "The time has come."

“You came from a fishing village? I’ve always found those and their inhabitants to be quite nice. Back in Svakarta it’s almost like the entire archipelago is a string of fishing villages with a few major settlements thrown in,” Aestus told Yrjo. The lesser god was enjoying this scene of dialogue, even if it was a bit awkward for him. Up until this adventure, it had been a while since he’d been around so many utilities designed for smaller humans. It was a miracle the chair he was sitting in hadn’t collapsed under his sheer weight! Though, it had also been a while since he was around so many humans, which was why he was enjoying this.

“I’m not sure if they have seen anything, but I think I’ll be able to check. I can control marine life, and while I can’t just talk to them, I can access their memories. Anything I should look for?” Aestus asked Jules. Truth be told, he wasn’t too sure on the likeliness of them gaining any useful information from this. But, it was worth a shot.

Hospital

“It’s good to meet you all, your help certainly means a lot,” Irwin sincerely replied to the group. Though Ackermann and Fred were nice, these people seemed a bit less.....mystical. More relatable, in a way. Cheiko looking at an image of her parents made him realize she had lost hers, something he could certainly relate to. But, some were a bit weird. Saladass reminded the Australian of one of America’s presidents. Probably a coincidence, but even then, wouldn’t have been the weirdest thing here.

“I think I understand all that, but what do you plan on doing about it? Are we all just gonna stay up here?” Irwin sighed, slinking back into his chair. He didn’t have a thirst for violence, but he certainly didn’t want to be locked up in this cramped hospital room for too long.

On board the Kamui

Nephthys saw the change in his aura long before she saw his change of expression, she was right a bit him once being someone of high class. Whether he was of noble blood or a man who worked to earn his riches or inherited by an ancestor who did the hard work for him; he currently lost all of that wealth and prestige along with his ability to walk.

The mage ignored the heated exchange going on in the background with Sekhmet doing the same. Anton look annoyed as he took out a flask. He unscrew the cap and drank down the vodka within. It wasn't an ordinary one. It was made mixing conventional alcohol with a few spices with anomalous properties that most sirens found enjoyable.

Neither were surprised that Itona chose to avoid the topic of what lead to his lost of status, a move those three would do if they were in his position. As he was seemingly lost within his memories the trio heard Granny Jo now speaking to the man instead of trying to stab him with her verbal, nicotine-smelling, knife. The trio decided not to get involved and did other things to kill the time.

By the time night has fallen the trio were preparing to move their stuff. The trio heard the news of them being ready to leave. With Itona wishing them to be comfortable the trio turn to see Yostuba, their employer as she was now prepared to tell them what was their mission.

The soldier didn't take it. "No. Just come with us to the gunship and we will leave." He told him. The terrorists that were captured were being sent to a few gunships to no doubt by interrogated and locked up afterwards.

He shrugged, and followed the soldier to the gunship. Feeling too warm, he flapped his cloak a little to cool off, revealing that he had two seathed katanas strapped to his belt and the amount of pockets he had carrying who-knows-what.

As Hex told paradox to step aside, the time traveling, universe hopping Professor sighed and said, “Well ok, but before I leave a word of warning,” paradox then looked very serious, the atmosphere becoming heavier, “Don’t mess with the omnitrix, it never ends well.” He forewarned before reverting to his normal personality as the atmosphere pressure also returned to normal, “Anywho, its time for me to go! Oh! And also not everyone is who they say they are! Tootaloo!” After paradox said goodbye he was gone in a literal blink. Because if someone blinked, they would see him gone as if he was never there.

“Well that was different from how he normally acts.” Terraspin said. “Normally he’s a lot more cryptic. But yeah I’ll go with you voluntarily, I mean I was going to anyways before paradox showed up.”

Meanwhile back with Dakoolon he decided he was done waiting and took a u wing to a ship parked in space hoping he was boarding the right one.

The soldier looked at the coat that Lee summoned from his pocket dimension. "We better find a way to seal access to that dimension of his before he brings out something more destructive like a nuke." he thought as he took him into the gunship.

Now inside the pressurized interior of the gunship, a feature made to protect against CBRN based attacks and to travel at higher altitudes, the group would sit on the chairs line up. Once the pilot was sure everyone was seated on the gunship he would close the back door and begin to active the wing duct fans and the ramjet engines.

As the craft rose up in the air neither Lee, Link, or Doug would hear any noise being produced by the machines as the gunship rose up. The craft would fly away from the temple in great speed, a few more following behind it. Back in the temple the reaver was glad that the strange doctor was now going to let them go, but not before he issued a threat to them all.

"You think a threat like that will scare us doctor? We have comb through the eldritch secrets left behind dark gods, witch cults, and antediluvian civilizations. If we want to we will do the same with the omnitrix." She told Paradox but the time traveler already left the temple before he can hear her words.

"He probably knew what I was going to say and didn't want to hear a repeat." She turn her attention back to Terraspin. "Nice to know you're willing to go with us. But we need you to change back into your human form now because we aren't sure if you can fit in your current form." Hex explained.

It was an honest concern on her part. But another fear is that if they place the geas on him than he may escape from its effect once he returns to normal. They are hoping that since he is human that if he was effected by the geas in human form his alien forms will also be affected.

Hex would get a message from implant. Commanding the message tomoorn she saw the contents from it by her AR contacts. "Valerian it seems Deimos wants to see you and September once she us recovered." She told the conceptual hunter.
