The Shape of the Nightmare to Come
“Make haste, men!”, the grizzled commander of the boarding party urged as they neared the bridge of the massive Imperator Nox amidst bloody piles of mutant Tyranid corpses. They were literally knee deep in blood, as they have killed so many of the horrid creatures that their viscous blood flowed and overflowed on the ceramite floor. The Terrans moved and sloughed through the disgusting liquids as the blast door of the bridge came in their sights. “Sorcerors, melt that blast door down!”, the commander ordered as the power armored soldiers formed a cordon behind them. The levitating, black robed Human psykers channeled the energies of the realm eternal into the physical universe, bringing their soul spawned sorcery to bear as they all fired bolts of warp lightning at the blast door, melting it down after a few seconds. They would come across the Chapter Master fighting against an entire calvacade of the disgusting mutant creatures, armed with an empty bolt pistol and his own armored self. The Terrans wasted no time, and quickly slaughtered the foe set before them. In just moments, all of the Tyranids within the bridge were slain, turned either to roast flesh or exploding into mists of blood and gore as the Terrans opened fire. The Space Marine Terminators would then be told to attend to their Chapter Master. Then, the commander of the boarders walked towards Chapter Master Lorn.
“It relieves us to see you alive and well, Chapter Master.”, the commander said as he saluted with a bow. “The rest of the ship is being cleansed by our Ensari allies as we speak. It appears… that you originate from a realm different from ours. You are not the first to be thrown into our reality, and you won’t be the last. But alas, you are here and we are here. It is a pleasure to meet you and your brothers, Chapter Master.”

The Shape of the Nightmare to Come
The commander looked at his comrades. The Sorcerers could already tell that the Chapter Master didn’t really like aliens, and the commander was getting the same vibe as well. But, well, all he can do at this situation was answer with truth with the condition of the universe in consideration as well.
“The Ensari are just one of the numerous alien species allied with the Terran Federation.”, the commander answered with recollection in his eyes. “They responded to your distress call after we did, and they were eager to help. The Ensari were the first aliens mankind ever met, and thanks to them, we have become a star spanning nation, for they gave us technology and uplifted ancient Earth into a highly advanced society. We would later fight another alien empire, the Sakkadians, and the Ensari would be fighting at our side against the aggressors. But that is a long time ago.
One hundred years ago, the Swarm entered this universe through means unknown. We of the Milky Way and the nearby galaxies in the Local Group knew not of the Swarm’s existence until hundreds of thousands of ships bearing survivors from other galactic groups arrived in our realm, and informed us of the grave threat we now face. We would prepare for two decades, and by the time we were done, the Local Group was the last galactic group left in the universe that was untouched by the Swarm’s malignant tendrils. The Swarm would strike, and we weathered its assault. However, it has renewed the war, and our conflict is still unreconciled.
In a dark time like this, there is no time for petty grudges or primal anger against one another. I see that aliens are not really your thing, based on what I am seeing, but they mean you no harm and are our allies. As for a spaceport, there is a system not far from here that houses a few ports large enough for this ship.” The commander then received a transmission from the Ensari forces.
“Commander, we have completely cleansed the ship of Swarm presence. How is the Chapter Master?”

The Shape of the Nightmare to Come
“Well...”, the commander looked at his comrades once again as he stuttered. It was readily apparent that the Chapter Master was out of sync and out of place. The commander was nervous and concerned that the Chapter Master was incredibly disgusted with the notion that aliens were aboard his ship; as much as the Chapter Master tried to hide it from his face, the commander was very well aware that Lorn disliked xenos. “It is the year 4719 AD, Chapter Master Lorn.”, the commander finally said in answer to the question. “Oh, haven’t I introduced myself, have I! I, Captain Chosuke Yamanami of the Terran Federation, am 2,281 years old.”
As Chosuke finished talking, the sound of shock cannon fire resounded from the void of space. Chosuke would then receive a transmission from the Scharnhorst’s AI, which spoke with a smooth yet robotic female sounding voice. “Swarm material from the destroyed Hive ships have merged with the wreck of Karuma. The shock cannons of the fleet are having no effect on the resultant vessel, as it is too fast to be hit. Ensari ships are having the same problem.”
The commander turned back to the Chapter Master. “Well, Chapter Master Lorn, it seems we have a fight in our hands...”
Another transmission went through. “The Saratoga has been destroyed. Scharnhorst is receiving enemy fire.”
“Why isn’t it targeting this ship...”. Chosuke wondered as explosions lit the void above the bridge. The parody of the Karuma sped towards its erstwhile allies, attacking them with a combination of acid bombs and positron fire. The Karuma’s sensor array and one of its turrets would get blown off by the Defiance’s shock cannons, but it continued to attack with a speed that the slower Terran and Ensari ships couldn’t match. In the Scharnhorst, Johannes was baffled by the enemy ship. “This is a completely new Swarm variant... perhaps that one once consumed an Azerion ship and inherited its traits? No... it should have such speed earlier when we came in. Maybe cell death triggers it...? In any case, all ships, lock on target and destroy it!” Upon his word, the ships all opened fire, but their attacks were either evaded or were blocked by the Karuma’s shields. It was a mutant in the Swarm; an abnormal. The Terrans were surprised by how well the Swarm has evolved, and didn’t take it lightly.
“Of course... it doesn’t recognize the Imperator Nox and is treating it as if it is invisible!”, Chosuke thought on. He then turned back to the Chapter Master. “The enemy abomination is focused on our ships and that of our allies, and is completely ignoring your ship. If the Imperator Nox can destroy the Karuma’s twisted parody perhaps we can reach a better understanding of one another later.” Chosuke would then contact the Scharnhorst once again, and proposed his plan. “It falls to our friend if that is going to happen.”, Captain Kepler replied over the comms as the shock cannons of the Scharnhorst missed the Karuma completely. “It is giving us a hard time our here. It already destroyed the Saratoga, and it would seem that the destruction of that Hive Ship triggered a mutation in its cells that caused them to bind with the Karuma’s wreck and turn it to their own vessel. Whatever the Hive Mind is planning, it can’t be good. Line Okinawa’s outer perimeter has crumbled and the second is certain to follow. What say you, Chapter Master? Is the Imperator Nox’s weapons systems still operational? The enemy is treating as invisible, so if ever, we will lure the enemy to the direct line of the Imperator Nox’s cannons and you finish it. Shall we?”

Outset Island
Miria
Lose something? Miria turned to face the young woman, putting the crystal into one of her belt pouches, and shook her head slowly.
"No, nothing.", She said slowly, her voice carrying a soft, if whiny, tone to it. She feigned nonchalance, though even for her seemingly casual behavior, there was definitely something a little sinister about the stranger. Perhaps it was the dark clothes, or the pale skin, or perhaps it was her red, red eyes, and her sharp teeth, that only seemed to catch the faintest light of the sun. She definitely was out of place on the sunny island, like the other girl, but unlike Madi, the young woman didn't seem very open about her situation, divulging only a little information to her. She seemed to ponder for just a moment before speaking up again.
"I...apologize...if I'm not very forthcoming. I'm not from around here, that is true. I haven't lost anything of value to myself, per se, but I am unfamiliar with this place. I'm a merchant. My crew landed somewhere, but I seem to have lost track of them."
Her explanation seemed to make sense, at least to herself. She certainly spoke plainly, and didn't seem to have any reason to be lying about being from off the island, at the very least. She even smiled somewhat, trying to give off an air of friendliness, hoping that it wouldn't come off as insincere.
She wasn't quite sure if she should be trusting anyone in such a strange place. She didn't recognize the clothing that the girl wore, but she did recognize her as Human, and that was somewhat concerning to Miria. There were very few Humans, if any, where she came from.
