Divinity
Name: V'yxh'zharh
History: Briefly, V'yxh'zharh is an alien (in appearance), Lovecraftian entity who is the embodiment of the unknown mysteries of the universe. At one point a regular human, he was born in a place without a name to a lone mother who didn't know the father. He was raised alone by his mother on a hunter-gatherer diet and lifestyle until the age of twelve, at which time his mother died from unknown causes. He became desperate to discover why his mother had died, why his father was never there, and why the people of the world had to suffer. So, he dedicated himself to these principles, traveling from city to city spreading goodwill to orphans and the downtrodden, while speaking with priests and holy men about the causes of death, the afterlife, and abandonment. Eventually, he grew quite old and had helped untold amounts of people, and had yet to receive his answers. One day, as he neared the end of his mortal life, the elderly man came to a city whose name he did not know and whose people he was stranger to. There was a great fire in the city, and with the last of his strength, he managed to rescue countless young children and helpless people from the blaze. And as the fire consumed him, he realized that he could not die happy, not without knowing the answers to the unknown he craved. Then he died.
But the man refused to let himself go. For his heroism and life of goodwill, he was rewarded. Incomprehensible knowledge was bestowed upon him. Everything that man knew not, he knew, and he knew all that ever had happened, would happen, and could happen. He knew his name. V'yxh'zharh. He knew his mother's cause of death. She gave him the food she needed. He knew why man suffered. He deserved it. He saw it all and it all saw him. But in death, the knowledge he had gained took its toll on his soul. He had no one to help, so he grew cold to the plights of man. Rather than assist him, he chose to quietly exist outside their reach and comprehension, searching for and awaiting the day he would find a human he deemed worthy to bestow knowledge upon. Little by little, however, when man is ready, he bestows upon him little bits of knowledge. Better building structures, better metals, better medicines and weapons. But none for him are worthy yet of his knowledge.
Aspect: unknown knowledge/learning
Appearance: he's reshaped himself into a cosmic horror, he's not meant to be comprehended by humans yet. when he his, he will produce a human form.
Starting Location: he moves to a hidden location near wherever the majority of man's knowledge is concentrated at any given time (Alexandria in the times of Macedon, London during the 1800's, Cambridge in modern times, you get the idea)
Antithesis: ignorance
Note: He is quite disconcerned with all human affairs that don't regard gathering knowledge.
You may wish to reassess our setting. Neither Alexandria, nor London, nor Cambridge exist.
I know they dont exist, thats just the general idea of where he moves to. I don't know the name which city/place would fit.
