Rules
Keep IC in the IC and OOC in the OOC, unless it is absolutely necessary to put it in the IC
My word is Law
No God modding
No being an ass OOC
1 hour IRL = 1 Day in IC
Battles should go as follows:
- A fires his weapon at B
- B attempts to dodge with his faster mech and succeeds
- A fires again this time anticipating dodge
- B attempts to dodge, but gets hit
- B fires back, but getting hit has thrown off their aim
- B misses, A fires upon the now more stationary B
- B can't move out of the way this time, B is destroyed.

Poland-Russia Front

Unfortunately for Poland, the Russian Empire's mainland forces were no longer as strong as they once were. The New Order invaded Poland in order to get to Russia, finally ending that nation's attempts of survival. Xero and Unit X97 were ordered to land in Warsaw to finish off the remaining Polish military forces.

3 baycopters glided over the now ruined city of Warsaw, hovering in the far west of the city, just out of its limits. 5 mechs were dropped just above the ground, and the baycopters flew away. "Bring reactor online, X4 and X5 move ahead and scout the area. X2 stay outside of the city and try to support us as best possible. X3 you and us are going to charge the base, and take those AA guns offline," commanded Xero. A steady hum began as the reactor slowly started. Then a rumbling as they machine began to move. The rumble calmed away and was replaced by the sway of the Leo's steps, and the sounds of moving steel. Xero looked to Matthew, "Biometric Scans?"

Matthew shrugged "Nothing. Either they've deserted the town or they're using Stealth generators."

"Hear that Abelard? Manual aiming," Xero said. They had gotten somewhat deep into the city. X5 then reports an enemy presence near the center of town. 2 Natasha mechs and 12 tanks, along with 3,000 soldiers. Unusually low for the war, but Poland had never prepared for this war. "X5 and X4 engage from their rear. X2, get in position to fire on those Natasha mechs. X3, lets go teach them how to battle," Xero orders. The Leo moves at full speed towards the enemy now. "Trebuchet charged?" Xero asks. "Aye!" Abelard returns. They were seconds from the enemy now, they'd see, hear, and smell us now. "PREPARE WEAPONS! Turn the chassis right! FIRE AT WILL!" Xero yells to his crew.

The first Natasha is hit by the Trebuchet in the side. Their engine had been damaged but they weren't finished yet. Cannon fire came from the Natasha and nailed X1. "Armor sustained damage, were fine for now." Matthew says almost immediately after. The magnum's plasma fire roars out from the barrel of the weapons, tearing through the armor of the Natasha. Molot fire begins pounding X1, causing steady clangs of metal. X3 charges the second Natasha, burning through its armor with Tarans. X4 and X5 occupy the tanks and infantry, eliminating them. "Trebuchet ready!" Abelard announces. "Fire!" Xero commands. A hole is put in the other side of the Natasha. Its reactor fails and an escape pod fires out of the top of the Natasha. The Second Natasha cannot deal well with X3 as they try to retreat out of city. Trebuchet fire from X2 eliminates the enemy crew and mech, as they are consumed by plasma.

After cleaning up the remaining forces it is learned why Poland had very few troops left. After the invasion, they voluntarily joined the Russian Empire. All remaining polish government and military were acting with the Empire now. Warsaw was no longer their Capital. AA guns were disabled as more troops moved in to take hold of the city.

"How's the damage?" Xero asks Matthew after the battle is over. "The armor is pretty beat up in the front, so we'll have to repair it. Unless you want to have the enemy easily put holes in it." Matthew replies, jokingly. A day later the baycopters would return to pick them up.

"Logistics is the ball and chain of armoured warfare." - Heinz Guderian

København (Copenhagen), Norden, Nordiska samväldet
12th April 2143

Copenhagen was a city, one had to grant that. With eighty-two million people residing within its towering walls, it was the second-largest city in Norden. One could walk, if one so wished, from the western end if the city all the way to the eastern end through shopping districts, manufactories, residential complexes, all without so much as seeing the sky. Then, of course, one could take the underground railroad to Malmö on the other side of the strait, where another twenty million people lived.

It was one of these underground tunnels through which Secretaries Stenberg and Jansson were making their way.

The double-barred gates swung open, and the Composhield manufactory sprawled out beneath them, almost a hundred metres deep. The noise was deafening. Hilda didn't know how people survived in cities before noise-cancelling walls became commonplace. From the stairs leading down the heart of the manufactory, the foreman emerged. A refugee from war-torn Poland, his technical genius has earned him employment at the manufactory.

"Greetings, chaps, how are ya?"

After some quick hand-shaking and pleasant formalities, the group went straight into business. The Composhield manufactory has been tasked with an important research project: to design and produce the Commonwealth's very own medium mech design. Oh, sure, the license-built Rogatka worked fine, but foreign production licenses had a way of drying up once a common enemy was eliminated (or emerged triumphant, although everyone hoped against it) and the Commonwealth's government did not particularly look forwards to the industrial prospects of relying on a foreign design without a license, and therefore mechanical and technological support, from the country that knew it best.

If Scandinavia had its own medium mech design, or even managed to just reverse-engineer the production equipment that made the Rogatka, that would not be a problem. So, tax money flowed into this workshop, and naturally the Department of Defence was very concerned about the progress being made by the workshop and its researchers.

"In the end, I think it's cheaper and easier to replicate the machinery," the foreman concluded. "The research and development expenditure invested by the Russians in creating this design was obviously great. Replicating the Rogatka's production system would be much easier than trying to design our own."

Secretary Stenberg nodded. "That is terribly unfortunate, but if that's what's viable then that is what we will go with. The Rogatka has served us faithfully and well for many years."

"I apologise for the energy rationing, by the way," added Secretary Jansson. "I know you wanted to go with a radiation analysis, but with piracy flaring again there's a limit to how much volatiles we can ship in from Ceres."

"Ceres is a long way away," agreed the foreman. "We'll do our best with what we have."

Battleship Tintenfisch, Geocentric Orbit

Xero walked through the tight corridors of the ship. Luxury was not the intended purpose of the ship, and Xero was glad that it wasn't. He was heading to Repair bay where the entire Unit was receiving repairs. He stopped in front of a reinforced steel door which opened slowly and came with screeching metal. He walked into a room with several screens, one screen displayed the unit, and Matthew was studying it.

"Status?" Xero asked. "The repairs will be finished shortly," Matthew replied before sighing. "Where are we headed next?" He asked. "New Berlin, engineers think they've made a breakthrough. We're to test the Mk 3 plasma weapons." Xero stated. "We'll be dropped off at Lunar Base Alpha, and then picked up by the N.O.S. Käfer. Relay that info to the rest of the unit. I'm off to the VR Room to practice." Xero then walked out of the room as the door shrieked closed behind him.

The Nox, an old mech carrier modified for the general purpose of lion protection. an old war titan that was tansformed by the engineer genuis Simon Black. it was orginally gonna be his little flying paradise and scrap collector, till he met Jack, a persistant old war vet and sellsword that convinced simon to become a mercenary company fighting for the people who deserve and/or can pay for their services.

jack now though has convinced simon to go on a "trip" with to a what supposed to be a dead zone of sweden, but its not so dead, this is where jack gets almost all their supplies and contracts. its a black marcket district that was built within a titan of a machine.

the young black haired simon looks at jack and taps his shoulder, jack jerks his headto look at simon "Dont touch me like that In a place like this" simon put his hand in his pocket and nodded, then he decided to speak after a second "so, jack, what exactly are we looking for" jack sighed and looked at him "we need fuel for the copters, scrap for your projects, and food for the troops." he takes out a piece of paper "then we also need to find an open area for training unless we can find a vr system here, also we are running low on funds so if we can get a good contract out of this well be golden" simon nodes and smiles then ask "so why did you bring me, you seem to know your stuff" jack sighs yet again "I need you becouse there is alway a newbie who is selling this stuff cheaper but its actualy a very trash knock off, so i need you to authenticate for me."

simon and jack walk up to the contract board, which is actually just an extremly old holo board updated every 3 hours with a contract, once it has been accepted the contract will be pulled down and the one below it will take its place. the way of accepting these contracts is simple, you plug in a small box like unit and accept it from on there, then its uploaded withh all the details onto the unit. jack seems rather pleased by the hug list.

New Berlin, Venus

The day had finally come to test the new weapons. The unit was inside a large bunker which was modified to be a firing range. Xero stood on a platform behind X3 with most of the unit. X3 had several tubes and wires connected to its back which was stripped of armor. It was positioned in front of several Gekkos, which made up a 4x4 square. X3 brought it's frontal shield online. It was holding 2 mk3 Trebuchets which were disconnected from the unit main power unit. The observers put on special glasses, so they weren't blinded by the Gekkos.

The Gekkos fired at the shield. The brand new armor on the front seemed to spread the visible light over itself before it faded away. At the same time the Trebuchet were beginning to charge visibly, glowing with heat. So far the Mk3s were a success only one last test. X3 was given the order to fire. Plasma flashed from the Cannons and absorbed the Gekkos. Then the light was gone. They took off the glasses to see the Gekkos scorched remains. The engineers cheered and everyone shook hands. Xero asked the Head Engineer in charge, "When will these be mass produced?"

"In the coming months, with good fortune." He replied excitedly. "Well, tell us when that happens, Unit X97 will be glad to pack these weapons." Xero replied back.

jack got himself three contracts and got everything off their shopping list, they left as soon as possible.

jack got three diffrent kind of contracts; one is a political assassination, one for information collection from a scientist on their own resarch team, the last is bodyguard duty. he handed them off to his girlfriend and asked her to do resarch on each one "why cant you?!" she said a little aggrivated "cause im busy training the troops so they dont get their selfs killed" she sighed "whatever'" jack rolled his eyes and looked at her "when i get free time, sweet heart, we can go out on a date when you want to" she grined "thats a lot better" she blew a kiss at him then walked to do some resarch on each of them.

National Security Act expansion ratified

Stockholm -- The Nordic Council has passed the Labour Party's proposed revisions to the 2088 National Security Act by an overwhelming vote yesterday afternoon, broadly expanding the mandate and capacity of the Special Office.

"Our cities and streets are safer than ever," noted Secretary Winther of Foreign Affairs, an ardent supporter of the new measures. "But none can deny that we still have room to improve. Giving the Special Offices the information and powers that they need to finally clean our cities of not only common crime, but also the various illegal industries and services that have sprung up under our borders will do wonders for our collective security."

Under the revised National Security Act, the Special Offices will have the authority to intercept phone, text, e-mail, and other digital communications and review the contents of private laptops, phones, and other such devices of any person, citizen or foreigner, suspected of being associated with criminal activity or threats to national security, or is likely to possess information related to such without a court warrant.

Although there has been concerns about possible abuses of the system, the National Police insists that there is nothing to fear. "Information collected by the Special Offices will only ever be used for investigative purposes only. The evidence collected is not admissible in court and can never be used to unduly persecute [...] law-abiding citizens."

The anti-crime progress made by the current administration demonstrates its commitment (...click here to read more)

"Resistance creates suffering. Stress happens when your mind resists what is... The only problem in your life is your mind's resistance to life as it unfolds.” - Dan Millman

Jupiter Orbital Space

With the terrorist organisation styling themselves the "freedom fighters" committing atrocities beyond Jupiter's orbit, the Nordic Space Force was busier than ever, keeping peace and order in its extended and scattered colonial empire.

The 19th "Akureyri" Constellation, spearheaded by the modern battleship NRVS Akureyri was a piece - an important piece, but a piece nonetheless - in the three-dimensional matrix of guns, communications, sensors, light patrols, and mobile fortifications strung out across the Solar System that one could, perhaps, call a "fleet." Its duty was one that was fairly typical for the Nordic Space Force - proactive security. Space was vast, and gave plenty of room to manoeuvre. It was this that the Space Force always relied on to hold its own against much larger but less flexible forces. Local superiority, flanking, high-velocity intercepts... these were their tools of trade.

Anyone who paid a smidgen of attention to the way their ships were built would realise how much they were designed for mid-operation modifications. Take the NRVS Akureyri, for example. A Reykjavik-class ship, which was supposedly a "battleship." Except... not really. What NRVS Akureyri actually contained was a metal spine with a control centre built around one gigantic kinetic railgun, a power plant, and electronic warfare systems. Hitch engines, particle beam batteries, and shields on it and it becomes a gunboat. Replace the particle beam battery with turrets and it becomes a ridiculously oversized destroyer. Ditch the engines in favour of more shielding and it becomes a space station. Put some engineering bays on there instead and it becomes a combat support base.

That was how the Nordic Space Force was designed. Not in favour of overwhelming numbers or firepower, no... the Nordic Space Force sought strength by making a military that could turn into exactly what the nation needed at any given moment.

The ship's current configuration gave some hint as to its mission. No point defences in favour of oversized armour and shields meant that the ship was expecting to tank a volley instead of a sustained battle of attrition. Swapping the ship's usual particle beam side armaments with kinetic batteries to support the ship's main weapon meant the ship intended to bombard, rather than snipe. An overloaded propulsion system meant high-velocity combat.

The conclusion was pretty simple. The 19th Constellation was ready for a hit-and-run mission, exacting some casualties on the enemy before running far away quickly in order to not get shot back.

Konteramiral Tanja Reynisson bristled at the responsibility of leading some ten million men into her second real combat operation. One-twentieth of that number was up here, with her fleet, while the main portion was either on leave, incapacitated, or, much more commonly, simply stationed on base, supporting field operations with communications, logistics, repair capabilities, in-house manufacturing, intelligence, and whatnot. A modern space force had a very long tail indeed. She could see her target approaching on the situation screen. It wasn't on the sensors yet, but its location was already known: a pirate base, probably funded by these supposed "freedom fighters," on one of Jupiter's many small uncolonised satellites.

"Intercept velocity 2,375 kilometres per second, Konteramiral," her aide reported. "All weapons ready, with two minutes to interception."

The pirates appeared armed with laser weapons and what looked like a large particle beam. Typical pirates. At this velocity the Constellation would only be in range for a few seconds - not nearly enough time for them to seriously contest the power of the fleet. If she had to guess, the pirates were panicking right now, They were probably prepared for a siege and bombardment. That was the way war was always fought.

Well, the Nordic Space Force fought unlike any major power.

Fifteen more seconds, Tanja pondered. So we should build up a volley starting now.

"Constellation," she ordered. "Release the rounds."

In a few seconds, the 19th "Akureyri" Constellation became a cloud, shrouding itself in almost fifty thousand cannonballs. Although they were unremarkable - lumps of mineral alloys, as it were - colliding at a target at twelve hundred kilometres per second they could still do immense damage. More importantly, they also served the function of soaking up laser fire meant for the actual ships of the Constellation.

"Burn retrograde!"

The ships of the Constellation swiveled away from the small moon. It wouldn't do if they collided with the moon too, after all. With a slight retrograde burn, the Constellation would practically scrape the moon, but would not collide with it. The Constellation veered away, separating itself from the tens of thousands of cannonballs which it was leaving behind. Carnage occurred behind them.

It was terribly unfortunate, Tanja decided, that sounds don't carry in space. Given the large pick-marked region where the pirate base used to be fore, she'd say that it would have made one incredible boom.

Tanja turned back to her aide with a question, although she already knew roughly what the answer were more or less likely to be.

"Casualties?"

Russian Front, Earth
Hours before Moscow Spearhead

The baycopter arrived at FOB Delta, the launching point for the Moscow Spearhead. Unit X97 were to be in the mech assault to eliminate all enemy ground forces in the way. The clamps on the mechs released and they were dropped onto the ground with a thud. "Bring X1 online! Matthew get scans of the enemy forces on the frontline! X2, X3, X4, X5, prepare for the charge!" Xero began commanding. This time, no Russian Winter would save them from the forces of Neue Ordnung. Several more baycopters were hovering over the front dropping off their payloads. VTOLs swarmed the air above, artillery exchanged fire, and the sounds of war were heard only a few miles away.

The Russian Empire noticed this of course, and had probably built up their force on the frontline, what they didn't expect however was a beeline towards their capital. A russian fleet hung in the air as they bombarded the surface. A century ago this land would've remained a desert forever, but now it was still valuable land. Land to prevent overpopulation, to gain ground in the war, to store more men and weapons. X97 had landed in an area which wasn't designated important for bombardment, so they had time to wait for the Go order.

Above Earth, Invasion Fleet 2 began leaving static orbit, and moved towards the Russian Front. They were to engage and eliminate the russian's defense fleet. They would arrive in 3 hours, X97 would just have to survive until then. "X97, let's show these monarchists how to battle."

"Peace and security both in Europe and in the Pacific still depend on a balance of power." - Lee Kuan Yew

"I am well aware of how serious the current situation is," noted Secretary General Rasmus Persson, the unusually stern voice of whom already confirmed to everyone present how desperate the meeting was likely to be. "What I want - no, need - are solutions. What have you?"

Secretary Winther sighed.

"Ultimately, Rasmus, our Commonwealth's hand is forced. We depend on the great powers of Earth facing off against each other. We need to take actions to preserve the Russian Empire, or risk being surrounded.

The mood was grim in the Secretary General's office. The tides of war has changed once again, and the Nordics had to swim... or sink.

"On the other hand," continued Secretary Winther, "there is very little we can do against the Order directly. Any overtly hostile move will be seen as what it is, and the Commonwealth cannot afford to become an enemy of Berlin. It can even less afford to lose its peacekeeping reputation."

"Then our only possible course of action is providing quiet support to the Russians. Exactly what form of support we will provide depends on what we have to provide, and how much we can afford to lose whatever it is."

Silence returned to the office for about half a minute, while the secretaries pondered the words that just flowed.

"I will instruct my SOE heads to be less aggressive in their negotiations with Russian interests," suggested Secretary Jansson, finally breaking the silence. "Meanwhile, I suggest that Secretary Winther drop some intelligence tips to the Russians - I know you have them - while we keep our minds on this issue. Our national survival is at stake."

"...what is needed is far more drastic than that," refuted Secretary Stenberg, of Defence.

The Secretary General looked to him.

"What, then, is the drastic action you propose?"

Secretary Winther looked to Secretary Stenberg, in shock. She already knew what he was about to propose. They discussed it in considerable detail yesterday already, and she thought he was convinced against his own idea...?

"Withdraw our investments from Russia, discreetly. When Russia collapses, seize and occupy Karelia and the Baltic Sea coast under protective intentions. The Russians will be too dead to be relevant, the Germans more inclined to view us as a strategic asset, our official neutrality is preserved, and Britain becomes less able to sever contacts with us as well as more wary of our intentions."

Rasmus noticed Inger's looks.

"You knew about this?"

Secretary Inger Winther nodded.

"I have to say, that is the most..."

"Rasmus," Secretary Stenberg insisted. "If the Commonwealth is to survive, it has to accept that the Order is a rising power, and that its conquest of Russia is unlikely to fail. The Western Powers' ability to maintain peace in Europe is rapidly fading, and we cannot reasonably hope to hold our own against the Order. I say that we make accommodations. That is what a true neutral power does, is it not? Make accommodations?"

Then the room exploded into arguments.

"Maintaining neutrality also means, if necessary, defending it." - Per Albin Hansson

Visby, Norden, Nordiska samväldet

The days in which Visby stood as an isolated fortress guarding the seas were, frankly, over. Now, there were regular train and bus services connecting the city to Stockholm on one side and Riga and Helsinki on the other, as well as all the little underwater cities and floating settlements in the Baltic Sea that one could see on the way. Between Gotland and the Baltic Sea itself, some ninety million people called this region home.

Naturally, the unauthorised descent of an unknown object towards the skies above the Baltic Sea caused mass panic. Alarms blared across Gotland, and Visby's civilians rushed towards their fallout shelters, fearing what was to come.

"Air Defence, to your stations!"

The powerful Bofors gauss cannons defending Norden's airspace were brought online. With a range of barely two thousand kilometres, they were useless for orbital defence, but were just the thing for shooting down unwelcome invasions into their airspace... such as the one that were coming in right now. Their automated warnings were left unanswered. It was unknown whether the foreign object even heard them.

Well, then. The Commonwealth expects that every man will do his duty.

"Five... four... three... two... one... they are in range. Range 1974km and descending, velocity vector..."

"Open fire!"

Norden's air defences spat fire.

Russian Front
Minutes before Moscow Spearhead

Xero tried to relax in the commander's chair, but the constant cannon fire would not let him. The rest of the crew were having a similar experience, but it could not be helped. This was for the greater good, the end of the rule of the weak, and the setting of the rule of the strong. He got up from the chair and paced around, to entertain himself during the wait. As he passed Matthew's station he heard a rumbling coming from the external audio sensors. It was getting louder, and Matthew himself noticed it now. Then, what sounded like exhaust. "Stations! The fleet is almost here!" Xero pronounced.

Sure enough, the fleet had arrived and were currently entering atmosphere. The Russian fleet stopped its bombardment and began gaining altitude. "X97, get into formation now!" X4 and X5 would take the front on the left and right, with X3 between them. X1 would stay behind X3 and X2 was not included in the formation. "X2 follow the unit from a good distance behind, target anyone who's targeting us."

Xero tuned in to Command waiting for the order. "This is 3426, there is an unidentified Carrier headed towards Launch Point. They seem to be under attack by the Nords." One voice said. If this was true the Nords have either detrimented or helped us. No matter, the time for battle was soon. "Begin charging Trebuchet! Matthew, give us enemy targets." Xero commanded. Matthew listed off 3 targets, a Fury, Natasha, and Rhino. "X4 and X5, once we're near break off formation and hit the Rhino come the back, X3 will keep them forward. X1 will target the Fury. X2 you'll eliminate that Natasha."

"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror..." - Winston Churchill

Strategic Command,
Underground, somewhere in Norway, Norden, Nordiska samväldet

"So," spoke Secretary General Persson, the tiredness reeking from his hoarse voice. "At least tell me that we know who we are currently being attacked by."

Everyone looked at the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Perhaps counterintuitively, the Special Offices were under the authority of the Department of Foreign Affairs... and the Special Offices saw everyone, anywhere, all the time.

Secretary Winther spoke up, laying down about six hundred printed sheets in front of her. Say what you liked about the National Security Act; when it came to profiling a target inside out quickly and efficiently, the Special Offices had no parallel.

"The person responsible for the ship that is currently so rudely invading our airspace is known as Jack the Ripper, a person who have been a target for some time due to his affiliation with the Swedish criminal underground."

"He is," she continued, somewhat awkwardly, "currently under the service of the Russian Empire and acting under those interests."

A silence reigned in the conference table.

"Well," commented Chief Kristina Hagebak uncomfortably. "The forces invading us are Russian, then. I suppose that places us at war with the Russian Empire."

Another awkward silence descended upon the conference table. The Secretary General cleared his throat.

"I believe that I must apologise," Secretary General Persson noted, nodding to Secretary Stenberg, of Defence. "It appears that your preferred course of action was indeed the correct one. To be so backstabbed by the Russian forces which we were so ready to aid... yes. Indeed. It may be too late, but we will adopt your plan."

The Nordic Commonwealth Declares War!

Stockholm -- The Department of Defence has announced at 09:14 hours this morning, Scandinavia time, that the Nordic Commonwealth has been invaded by certain forces loyal to the Russian Empire which, despite warnings and initial attempts at military repulsion, pressed its attacks on Nordic territory.

In response to this gross breach of international diplomatic protocols and act of unprovoked military aggression aimed at undermining the independence and territorial sovereignty of the Nordic Commonwealth, as well as the violation of the terms of the 2119 Russian-Nordic Treaty of Amity and Co-Operation, the Nordic Council has unanimously recognised that a state of war now exists between the Nordic Commonwealth and the Russian Empire, and has authorised the Department of Defence to engage in the total destruction of the Russian capacity to continue waging war against the State and People of the Commonwealth.

The Department of Defence has announced that it has begun negotiating with the Neue Ordnung as a co-belligerent in its war against Russia, in order to secure military and diplomatic co-operation as well as aid regarding national defence. Although some dissenting parties resisted, the Secretary General insisted that "in this struggle for our national existence, nothing will be taken off the negotiating table."

In accordance with the Emergency Appropriation Act of 2079, with the newly recognised state of war, certain provisions will henceforth apply. The Department of Defence has announced the seizure and freezing of all Russian and Russian-affiliated assets within the Nordic Commonwealth, as well as the confinement of all Russian citizens in Commonwealth territory to the city in which they are currently present. The Strategic Command may, furthermore, appropriate for the duration of the current conflict any resources that it believes is necessary to bring the war to a successful conclusion (...click here to read more)

60,000 Detained in Unprecedented Bust

Linköping -- The Swedish National Police Department has announced that with the enactment of the provisions contained in the Emergency Appropriation Act, allowing the police force to detain anyone it deems a threat to national security, almost sixty thousand arrests were made, virtually clearing out the Swedish criminal underworld.

"Although the evidence of subterfuge and criminal activities obtained through the Secret Offices are not valid to be used in court," observed Secretary Maria Lahti, "they nonetheless constitute sufficient cause for detainment under Emergency Appropriations. This particular group of criminals have been associated with a person of extreme interest, currently known to be spearheading the Russian invasion force into Nordic territory, and has thus been the first targeted for detainment and interrogation."

The Department of Foreign Affairs have added that the Special Offices have been investigating and have collected profile dossiers on every person, within or out of the Commonwealth, who has or have had any kind of business or social dealings with this man in extreme interest. "Multiple illegal markets and online contract systems have been thoroughly explored," noted Secretary Stenberg. "The Special Offices will know this man better than he knows himself."

The extensive security apparatus built up over the past few decades, although at times controversial, have no doubt (...click here to read more)

Thousands of Civilian Casualties in Russian Atrocities

Visby -- The indiscriminate bombing of civilians and major population centres by the spacebourne Russian forces above Norden has already caused tens of thousands of civilian deaths, reported the Department of Defence, which credited the extensive National Underground Reserve for preventing further, even worse casualties.

Although an exact count has not yet been made, the Department has tentatively estimated the number of deaths at thirty to fifty thousands, and the total number of casualties at somewhere between two and three times that number.

"The Department of Defence and I, as its Secretary, offer the sincerest condolences to those affected by the latest atrocities," announced Secretary Stenberg. "I promise that the Russians will not catch us so unguarded by surprise again. The Underground Reserve is now in full strength, and we will take whatever action is necessary for the preservation of our nation and people."

The motorised Air Defence network has been mobilised, and is even now attempting to destroy the invasion forces above the nation's skies. Although the Department of Defence admits that they will be vastly undermatched until reinforcements are able to arrive, they are hopeful that the dispersed and motorised nature of the Air Defence network will also make it virtually impossible to destroy.

"It doesn't matter how good their sensors are," insisted a technician at the Royal Institute of Technology, who spoke on conditions of anonymity. "They are not going to be able to find a particular set of armed trucks in a nation that has over a billion other trucks that look virtually the same, nor are their weapons going to be targeting our submarines."

Nonetheless, many have expressed concerns about the nation's floating settlements, which are uniquely (...click here to read more)

Earth Orbital Space

The 1st "Stockholm", 2nd "København", 5th "Reykjavík", 7th "Aarhus", 11th "Bergen", 17th "Tampere", 21st "Stavanger", 28th "Kajaani", and 41st "Roskilde" Constellations of the Nordic Space Force were available within three hour's travel of Earth Orbital Space, and were hence recalled to aid in the defence of Norden.

13 million spacebourne crew. 99 million ground-side support staff. It was an impressive force indeed. The Nordic Commonwealth has always focused on dominance in the void, contesting any potential invader's advantage on the ground by making it difficult to invade any of their vast colonial realm, and it was showing.

There were considerable initial confusion, but now, they were assembling. Seven hours and twenty-one minutes after the initial breach of sovereign airspace, the Nordic Space Force was ready for its confrontation with the behemoth of a dreadnought currently bombarding Norden.

The versatility of the Nordic Space Force was coming to play again. The refit at Luna and Rymdstationen were rapid indeed. The enemy dreadnought clearly had insane armour and shields, considering how long it was withstanding bombardment from Norden's mobile defences. They weren't even going to try and challenge the ridiculous armour.

Instead... meson cannons it were, aided by high-powered microwaves. Thanks to this lovely thing called the square-cube law, huge, hulking ships like their enemy dreadnought had considerable difficulties in organising interactions between its interior and its environment. Frying the ship from the inside... would be very effective indeed.

It was Nordic doctrine at its finest. Thousands of ships, refitted and provided with suitable weapons in a little over a quarter of a day. This was what the Space Force was built for.

"Well, we are ready."

"Your orders are to skirmish."

Jack has entered orbit, commanding mech pilots with good anti-air weapons ontop the hull and having simon fill him in on everything that is happening.

simon had the airship full throttle it to moscow avoiding as much conflict as possible

jack glad he had his full past cleared and his name changed, for this war would have brought back old demons from the past.

upon reaching moscow the carrier will find a somwhat open area to land and beggins armor repair.

Simon to Jack: "jack we have recived a contract straight from russia, due to where we were settled at..." jack nods "near the polar cap" simon sighed "yes near there we had to fly over the nordic region, but without warning we were fired upon, i saw it as the best course was to try and take out the aa cannons before they puncture the armour " jack laughed a little "arn't you glad i tould you to reinforce that hull like no tommorrow, even if we had to sacrifice the sheilds to pay for it." simon sighs "yeah i guess, but i had to put her at max to ensure we dont go down, currently we should be out of their air space for now and right about above moscow." jack smiled then he cracked his knuckles "find somewhere to land nyx and have her repaired, while your at it get all anti-air personel out there and begin unloading, ill touch down in minutes. " simon nodded "ill have scouts head out and veiw the competiton" jack smiled "now your becoming a general, till i touchdown" jack hangs up on the call

"It was a great wrong and complete banditry that Karelia was taken from Finland." - Gustav Hägglund

Vyborg/Viipuri, Russian Empire

"Vicekorpral! Our orders are to proceed."

"Ah, they can wait. Let me bask in the glory of the city for a moment."

Two centuries after the Moscow Peace, the Finns march in Karelia once more. 20 million regulars and a hundred million reservists - a full six thousand divisions - pressed on Russia from Finland, on a general assault targeting everything from Viipuri to Murmansk. Mechs raced forwards under intense artillery cover.

Conduct a concentrated strike against Sortavala to establish an advantageous artillery position from which to disrupt Russia's supply lines to its frontier with friendly forces, the plan went. Capture Karelia and Kola on a general massed assault, targeting Russia's weaker defences of the north, then turn the Svir River as our own defences against the inevitable Russian counterattack.

"The General wants St. Petersburg under siege by 19:00 hours today."

"...fine, we'll go," grumbled Vicekorpral Valpuri Pentti. She gave a longing last look at Viipuri's town square. Already, she could see the military police rounding up the Russian civilians while combat engineers erected air defences.

"This plan had better work."

Russian Front
Moscow Spearhead

The battle above had grown loud and thunderous. The fleets had engaged eachother in atmosphere, and silence seemed to have been slaughtered by cannon fire. A few corvettes even broke the sound barrier. "This is General Adalbert, 35 is 1. I repeat, 35 is 1." That was the Order. "Unit X97, move to eliminate all hostiles. The purpose of this mission is to take Moscow, and we shall do just that." Xero told the unit over their channel. The unit charged into the frontline.

Scrap metal, abandoned mechs, and destroyed buildings littered the battlefield. Andrew made sure not to trip X1 on any of the ruins. The unit excluding X2 soon passed the official frontline. "Abelard fire magnums at enemy tanks to the right! Andrew, crush any that you can with our weight! Our top armor should be enough to withstand enemy air power, but just in case, monitor it Matthew." said Xero as he barked orders. X3, X4, and X5 soon broke off formation to eliminate the enemy Rhino. X1 heads into a small wooded area to the right and begins to flank a distracted Fury. "Wait to fire until we are within 350m, Andrew charge it from the side." The cockpit began to shake heavily as the Leo moved at max speed, lurching right to left, left to right. "Targeting screen shows 345m and shrinking." Abelard announces. "Fire Trebuchet at the cockpit, ready magnums just in case." Xero commands. A flash of plasma burn a hole straight through the mech, and it explodes. No ejection, crew eliminated.

"Vityaz defense coming up from behind!" Matthew says. The Leo spins around and begins to turn its legs back. "They're out of range of the magnums, get us closer!" Abelard demands. "I can't we have to turn first!" Missiles fly into the air, headed towards X1. "Brace for impact!" X1 trembles upon being hit. "Armor status? Trebuchet status?" Xero asks. "We're fine." Matthew responds. Nashorn fire comes in hitting the front. "How about now?"

"Their shells bounced off the front armor."

"Trebuchet fully charged!" Abelard says. "Fire at will, Abelard." tells Xero. One of the Vityaz's sides is consumed by plasma. It's crew ejects. "We've turned, charging the remaining two enemies." Andrew says. "They're in range now!" Abelard excitedly says. Plasma fire erupts from the magnums tearing through the Vityaz. Another ejects it's crew. "Fire Trebuchet at their legs." Xero orders. The third Vityaz has it legs disabled and it's crew ejects. A message comes from Command, "The Russians are pulling back! Keep pushing!"

Xero calls for the rest of the unit, they all respond. "Rendezvous at Minsk, stay alive." Just as he finishes a damaged carrier passes overhead, heading towards Moscow. It's Lion Protection's. What are they doing here? Xero questions.

Upon landing the repair process begins and striders are sent out to recon the area

Jack is soon on the carrier and is inside his mech with åse, he start plotting out places to set up as sniper positions

The other commander, takes his specter, that he stole, and a group of rhinos and golems to Saint Petersburg to set up a fob

The scouts are ordered to set up another fob in a city to the north

Simon has the rest of the mechs begin setting up a defensive line to prevent the enemy from taking the first strong hold

"In space, everyone sees everything. But in war, no one can be quite sure what they are seeing." - Rick Robinson

Terijoki/Zelenogorsk, 50km northwest of downtown St. Petersburg
Isthmus Front

"...is the decision of Supreme Command," rang the voice of Chief Seppä over the hologram.

"Are you sure? The city is barely an hour's march away..."

"Yes, Supreme Command is very sure. The Russians have sent troops to St. Petersburg and is fortifying the entire area. Even if it's all smokescreens, it's going to be expensive to take. Instead, you are to merely set up an attack. Rally your troops, prepare for an attack, scout their defences, shell the city with heavy artillery, probe it with night skirmishes, just... don't actually follow up with an actual attack. Merely maintain the illusion of intending to attack as long as possible."

"Is that necessary?"

"Yes. Remember our overall strategy."

"Present more threats than the Russians can respond to," the general recited from memory. "But why... ah, I see. You're setting this up as a diversion."

"One of very, very many diversions, yes. And who knows, if the Russians pull out of St. Petersburg to respond to another diversion we'll make this the main attack. It's too early to tell."

"Should I fortify this position, then?"

Chief Seppä looked considerate for a while.

"No, don't," he finally concluded. "It would give away too much. Yes, I know that risks a strong Russian counterattack pushing you all back, but it's unlikely they can push past Viipuri and with our new bunkers in Sortavala we could easily arrange a counter-counterattack."

"I see. Very well."

The spector and the rhinos finally reach moscow, the copters dropping them off about a mile away. they begin to make sure the area is evacuated and soon the rhinos start tearing apart building and hiding inside them setting up a defenseive ambush.

Moritz, the spector pilot runs ahead using the buildings as cover, he head toward the swedish front, upon seeing any form of armed movment coming he'll retreat and tell simon the swedish are on the move. he then make a hit and run operation before get st.petersburg so he can give the troops time to prepare. he'll stop at the last building in saint petersburg and hold the postion till he sees them.

the a few striders ran into Neue Ordnung forces, they quickly began hit and run menuvers, running between buildings using their speed to dodge enemy fire, along with whatever buildings. they are circling around their target like raptors looking for weakpoint while firing at them. (2 striders)

the 5 other stiders make it the city seeing a few forces and marking them, they go find a good artillary positon for jack and the other artillary.

jack finds a spot he can begin sniping from, its very high hill, wich should be considered a mountain with a church set up on top of it, he soon recieved intel from the spector pilots and begins ording artillary in areas where they can fire at the enemy coordinates, few anti-air are set up near the artillary. jack watches over the front, firing at anything that isnt friendly. while he waits he eats.

lancelots are set up as the primary line of defense, there are 50 of them set up between alley ways and cornors set up like a big "U", then there are 12 griffins set up ontop of buildings waiting to jump on their pray.

the nyx is 50% fully repaired, shouldnt be long befor it can fly up and give air support.

Artillery Battery, Terijoki, 50km northwest of St. Petersburg

"Fire!"

The first strategic volley sounded.

Although the Nordic Armed Forces had skirmishers picking off Russian recon teams while protecting their own recon teams from the Russians doing the same, it was already fairly clear that the battle for St. Petersburg would be hard-fought. A couple of major thrust attempted by the Armed Forces has been repelled.

While those major thrusts were never intended to be serious attacks, and it was expected that they be pushed back, the forcefulness through which the Russians guarded St. Petersburg adequately demonstrated that it was soundly defended. The Nordic Armed Forces would have the difficult task of driving a numerically superior enemy from a fortified position in an enemy-friendly major population centre.

Well, then. The Nordic Army was not walking into that bloodbath, no matter how tempting it was. No... this was the better way.

They would turn that very city against Russian forces. The Russian forces were well dug-in, using the buildings of the city itself as camouflage, cover, and fortification. So, then, the solution was simple. Get rid of the buildings. Collapse St. Petersburg's skyscrapers and concrete blocks on the heads of Russian soldiers and see how much they liked the city then.

The Russian Betrayal will be repaid tenfold. The Nordic Army would march into St. Petersburg, one way or another. And if they had to flatten St. Petersburg to the ground in order to achieve that... well, so be it. The Nordic Army would make full use of its advantage in long-range bombardment and operational mobility to force the Russians to come out of their fortifications and fight the Nordics on the Nordics' very own dug-in frontlines.

Until then, the nuclear bombardments would continue, while the northern divisions pushed around the city towards Petrozavdsk and Kem.

St.petersburg front

3 artillary mechs move toward the petersburg front after hear the attack

jack listens to the fighting

the rhino mech enter assualt mode right as the first nuke was spotted, they charged head on with their superior frontal armor, they would rather have saint petersburg turn to dust then lose the fight. they fired all the bullets they could at the enemy.

spector waited in hiding, searching for a command unit among their ranks, looking to take him out before he can make strat to counter act the rhinos.

fob in volokolamsk

the scouts began setting up the small town into a hard to notice fortifaction

when they finally finished they noticed thetwo mising ones and had them report in,they soon found out they got split up.

the striders at the fob hold their ground while the others attack the Neue Ordnung mech

the nyx/ moscow

the nyx recieved enough repairs to fly without being instantly shot down

simon is wonder where the russian forces are at, he tries to contact them

the griffions patrol around

some of the lancolot pilots sleep, some eat, and the rest remain on guard waiting for the enemy

Battle for Belarus
1.5km from Minsk Military Base, 23:10

It had been a few hours since the beginning of the operation. X1 had fought through thousands of enemies to get to the rendezvous. The Leo creaked as it stood still, barely holding together. "Matthew you stay here and take control of the radio, make sure the rest of X97 finds us." Xero said before closing the hatch and climbing on top of X1. With the rest of the crew, they began repairing what they could with the G.I. Repair kits. The crew would then take rations out of the cockpit, and make a fire underneath the Leo while waiting for the rest of the unit.

The rest arrived at 21:00. X4 was extremely damaged, and one of X2's legs was inoperable. They were no longer battle ready and would need to repair and rearm. After basic crew repairs were finished they talked around the fire for a bit before dousing the fire and begin heading to the Minsk FOB.

Matthew begins talking as X1 moves along. "Command isn't going to destroy Minsk's military base, they want to take it. So once we arrive at the FOB and finish full repairs, we'll have to help them out." Xero repeats this to the rest of the unit over radio.
