You're -probably- cannibalizing existing players if you do that, but if the LOTF folks seem to be winding down, there does seem to be interest categorically.

Creepy horror RP set in Utah or Texas with mechanics based somewhat on the tabletop game Monster of the Week? Monster hunting mystery solvers? Five or six players? Maybe something more Lovecraftian but along the same lines?

So I have this base idea for a historical-fantasy RP set in Britannia amid the first century. Hear me out...

So I’ve always been fascinated by pre-Roman Britannia. A realm of tribes, mysticism, wonder, and the old gods of the pagans. The goddess Britannia I find particularly intriguing. A godly embodiment of the very lands themselves in the visage of a strong “Mother Nature figure”. The folk of Britannia live in simple harmony with the land. They hunt and gather their food, they love and raise their families, and have their ale in the stronghold tavern by night while the chieftains and druids tell stories over the fire.

Enter Rome; men of stone, steel, and war. The precise date will be in the range of 80 A.D. Amid the conquests of Agricola. The fantasy elements will predominantly be around light magic and the mystical nature of druids, the old gods, and witches. Players will role as a conclave of chosen champions by a wise woman from high in the mountains of what is today southern Scotland. She will task then with building an alliance of tribes and gathering allies to stand against the armies of the Roman defilers, all while embarking on a number of personal quests given by the wise woman in question. Enchanted weapons and accessories will be a thing, and maybe even a sorcerer type character build could be implemented.

The major plot twist will be that the wise woman will be the goddess Britannia herself in human form. She has been weakened by the plundering of her lands, from where she draws her very strength and essence. With every forest cut down and field burned her power wanes more and more, and she has become very desperate in her bid for survival. In the end maybe even taking an antagonistic role.

Of course I’m aware this type of RP is probably rather select in those who would be interested. And many players would be put off by everyone “being on the same side” thus canceling out any chance of player-vs-player completion. That and various other minor issues such as players wanting to role as a Roman instead or pursue controlling a faction/tribe and not a single character.
I’d like for this to be an applicable idea for an upcoming RP by me, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it weren’t a big or even moderate point of interest. (I say non-pessimistically.)

So, thoughts? Just on the idea in general and if it would be worth molding into an RP.

I am thinking about doing a thread about Scotland, with clan warfare and all, but in modern times. I think it would be interesting. Like where multiple tribes fight over Scotland, territory, land, etc. in a 2023 near future anarchy where clans fight each other. Edinburgh is destroyed, and Glasgow is very small because most of the people have fled the seemingly never ending battle between two of the biggest clans, the Duncans and the McIvers. Large clan federations contain smaller clans, like they used to (and technically still do) all fighting each other for territory, resources, and more civilians to conscript into their armies. nations could RP tribes inside of clan federations, because each clan consists of many tribes. The Shetland Islands are independent.

The basic storyline is that after Scotland left the UK in 2021, they decided to restore the Scottish monarchy. The ruling king came from the Campbell clan, but the McIvers, a tribe in the Campbell clan, overthrew them and installed their own leader. Scotland then broke into anarchy, with some main factions arising: The McIvers, technically the kings, and are slightly the strongest and control the most land, with their capital in Inverness (much bigger than RL because many fled from Edinburgh to McIver territory, and therefore to Inverness); The Duncans, second biggest clan and control most of the South, ties to England, capital in Glasgow (much smaller due to intense bombing raids and a previous McIver invasion that destroyed much of the city, causing many to flee); the Mackays, control much of the North with no real capital (the council rotates between Durness, Thurso, and Wick) and they are quite small, have been launching an unsuccessful siege of Inverness for a while now; the MacLeans, who control Argyll and the Western Peninsula area, with their capital at Inverclyde (also bigger than RL), and the Lewis Federation, which control the Isles of Lewis and surrounding areas (the island chain) and their capital is at Stornoway.

I am just putting ideas out there, does anyone think this could be cool?

Here is a map I made to show you what I am talking about

Image

*The Lewis Federation holds the islands, and the other nations they are disputed between holds some of the land area. McIver in the Lewis-McIver fighting holds about half of it, closer to the rest of their territory (and Inverness, their capital) but Mackay holds almost all of the territory that's disputed, besides the islands of course. My map wouldn't let me select smaller areas.

I've got a pitch: a char RP about a crew of a destroyer in a space federations navy, that are assigned to a emgerncy task force to assert naval superiority at a abandoned federation planet a couple years ago after their communications were mysteriously cut off, their deployment goes wrong and most of the task force's Vessles are shot down at orbit or suffered Heavy damage and are scattered all over the planet, so the crew has to interact with the planet's remaining population and find out what happened all those years ago in order to survive long enough for another emgerncynfleet to arrive

Hmm. Sounds interesting, though you'll need some meat on those bones to actually keep folks' interest.

Would anyone be interested in an RP where you play as various evil characters, creatures, and factions, maneuvering against one another to become Dark Lord?

But is it really soft like Star Wars, or is it somewhere close to the middle?

Star Wars is considered a Space Opera. Not even the same genre. I'm assuming this is going to be more Star Trek-meets-Event Horizony with the hijinks.

I'm guessing this is fantasy and faction?

I don't know. It could be cool. I'm really stretched thin right now but I'd play in a few months if you launch then.

What would y'all think of something steampunk/gaslamp fantasy with some multiverse thrown in? It's still in the early stages of development plus I got a new job so I'll need a couple months to get everything together, but basically here's the core premise: A group of people from different time periods/eras were brought together to this steampunk realm by a team of scientists working on a time travel experiment. After years of setbacks, they finally managed to come together to create the world's first working time machine...but something went wrong during the grand debut.

When this team of scientists fired up the machine that worked so many times before, it exploded, thus ripping a hole in the space/time continuum and a group of random people from wildly different times and verses were zapped from their everyday lives by the time jolts and brought to the scene of the explosion. A few of the scientists that survived the explosion explain to the bewildered group what happened, and now these complete strangers have to band together in order to find their way back home and help the scientists fix the time machine. Here's the kicker, the hole ripped in the continuum is getting bigger and bigger and as that's happening, you'll randomly experience things called time jumps: which is when you randomly get zapped in and out of different points in time. If everybody doesn't get back home and the time machine fixed soon, the continuum could remain jumbled forever or even worse, destroy the multiverse as we know it.

I've been digging the post apocalyptic setting of the Fallout franchise ever since I touched Fallout 4. I've attempted to start some roleplays set in the Fallout universe in the past, though by lack of others' interest, they've died out rather quickly. I believe part of it is due to a custom setting. So I'm hoping to try again with a more familiar backdrop.

Would a roleplay set in Fallout 4 be something people would be interested in? The plot and setting would mostly stay the same as Fallout 4's. However, Fallout 4's protagonist, Nate/Nora, and the introduction will be changed so that there will be multiple protagonists with connection to Nate, Nora, and Shaun. However, after the introduction passes and the protagonists leave the vault, participants will also be able to take on the role of a wastelander or robot.

Why not just have the players be people in the same area that Fallout 4 is set in? Ive seen plenty of Fallout RPs around here, some do well others don't, but the ones that do well tend to be set near areas that the games are in but don't necessarily share the same plot as the games (I saw one where it was about a group of NCR soldiers defending Hoover Dam from the Legion.) or the take a place that the lore dose not touch and make stuff up for that.
