So magic as in unexplained science because most people are stoopid?

Pretty much, yeah. It’s been so long that a lot of people forgot what modern science is.

Hell, I'm an electrician by trade and the weird sparky-sparky stuff is magic to me. It's called electrical 'theory' for a reason.

Idea spitball: Gods-esque RP, focused not on macro-scale creation, but on the survivors of a magical apocalypse who have themselves consumed and thus gained a portion of the powers of the shattered God. With the world destroyed they float in an ethereal nothingness where only fragments of the world remain, but must survive and determine between themselves how to recreate the world better. Overarching plot: demigod ideological and resource conflict, with undertones of what exactly happened to the other darker divine force that the God of their world used to prevent from destroying the old world...

Probably some quantification of divine power, determination of what these demigods require to sustain themselves, maybe a map/image covering the shattered world and the impacts the actions of the new demigods make upon it.

Semi-apocalyptic future settings have always been sort of my thing and now I'm drawn back to Civilisation: Beyond Earth again. >_>;;

arghaggf;laklkak first I need to run the RP I'm currently running, then I need to finish my XCOM strategy RP, and I need to give that 2095 concept another try, before I take on more responsibilities with yet more new RP ideas.

Any willing OPs want to take some of my ideas off my hands?

I feel that. I had a great Beyond Earth game last week with some customized terraforming mods.

Thoughts on a map? I was considering making the RP effectively “turn-based”, but perhaps not.

I mean with the world practically gone save for a few enclaves wouldn't a map be more suited for when people actually bother trying to remake the world? I suspect the survivors aren't going to be the most mentally stable at first, and might just fight amongst each other until someone slaps them into order.

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: The year is 1998 and Humanity has obtained FTL technology in the wake of a failed alien invasion two years prior. The first starship for the counterattack has been completed and now the team that will take the fight to the invaders will be selected.
Genre/s: Alt-History, Sci-Fi
Character or Faction Based: Character
Detailed Description: "Are we alone?"

The great question of existence, answered in the twinkling of hundreds of stars falling to the Earth in a single night. An invasion of unprecedented scale, announced by the thundering of chariots from the heavens. This was the beginning of the War for Sol in '96, millions lay dead in its wake, but it did not accomplish the goals of it's aggressors- the capture of Sol-3, a planet called home by an aggressive race of angry simians named Humanity. Us.

It took almost a year to fight them to a standstill, a month more to chase them back to their ships in the charred remnants of Humanity's greatest cities, and less than a day to blast the slowest and most damaged of their sky ships out of our atmosphere and into the depths of space. The last message we received, was that they would return, with numbers that would drown Humanity in bodies, ashes, and rubble for a thousand years and for that we smiled grimly from parted lips and bloodstained teeth. With a single, primal roar, we answered back with the anger of a race collectively borne out of spite and warfare," Come and take it."

Now, almost a year after, the combined resources of Humanity have finished the first in a series of ships designed to take the Combined Earth Armies to the home planets of the alien race that bloodied our noses two years prior. The trip, taking almost three months of FTL travel, will put Humanity at the edge of a cluster of stars over 100 lightyears away. There, a group of soldiers, taken from the best of Humanity's military forces will engage in a preemptive attack on the projected staging grounds of the enemy fleets, a massive planetary shipyard code-named "Alexandria".

The fighting will be harsh, the mission difficult, and the stakes being the potential extinction of the Human race. The team will be composed of eight individuals, a commander pulled from the survivors of the harshest fighting in the years before, and a hand-picked seven specialists who can represent the best Humanity has to offer in the imminent bloodshed to come. Only one question remains as the dawn of a new era in galactic history awakes, do we want to be alone?

Need Help With: General interest, it's based off of The Road Not Taken. Wanted to play with the concepts found in GATE, SG-1, and a few other sci-fi/sci-fan series I enjoyed growing up.

I got a idea: Faction rp that takes place in a fictional american neighborhood in the 1920s, Focuses on Buissness, Crime, and Dominating the neighborhood, All the while dealing with competitors and the Law.

1.People can build businesses, Recruit goons, and Participate in originated crime.

2. Players Can run for mayor and Build either a positive or negative reputation

3. Its turn based

4. You can Buy guns, Cars, and Builidngs to expand your empire

How about something similar - but instead of an American city in the 1920's, you change the setting to a sprawling space station in some far-flung future? Or a post-nuclear wasteland, complete with tribal warlords and irradiated mutants? Or a gritty steampunk metropolis on the cusp of a bloody revolution?

Reminds me of that post-nuclear faction RP you set up a long time ago. Sure have some fond memories of that.

Post nuclear wasteland seems like a good idea, With a Several scrap towns and cities and trade routes. And Each city has prohibited specific items that the RPers and smuggle in for profit

I still check in from time to time. It's merely that circumstances have conspired to leave me completely unable to work on any new ideas for the time being.

It had been my intention to launch a mechanics-based alien invasion RP this winter but my creativity has hit a complete brick wall. I don't think it's happening.

I watched a bunch of XCOM let's plays, dug up an old map of mine, got the brilliant idea to make a semi-cooperative RP where great powers have to work together to fight off a global alien invasion while also trying to maintain their international prestige. Bounced a few mechanics concepts off G-Tech, but nothing worked out, and now I'm one tired evening away from calling it quits on the whole project.
