I would recommend not the Cold War - folks are better with ideas if they have flexibility without risking an imminent nuking.

If I decide to make an alternate history WW2 RP, should I allow the Japan player to use ninjas or not?

The later mythologised perception of the ninja or actual ninja?

In any case, having the Japanese use ninja during the second world war would be comparable to the Spaniards marching into battle in a tercio formation. It's entirely out of the time period.

Or America deploying cowboys and Indians during the Normandy Landings.

Yeah, and those are only separated by one another by about 60 years. Ninja and the second world war are separated by 300 years.

I've done a character creation guide, and one NPC guide (that I'm having to refine)- but I'd like some guides for Security, Engineers, Medical- for character roles.

Though any interest is welcomed in regard to these guides so the subject could be different.

Edit: Ok, maybe this will help get one's attention. My work thus far.

I'd like to help, but I'm nat sure how to write a role playing guide.

That is a good question. I certainly have pages such as Vulcan and Romulan Star Empire that are in need of expansion I think a place we can start is planning an RP. If you are up for it we can TG or if you have a Discord utilize that chat for planning. I do have some ideas I've attempted that can be built upon though if you have your own ideas I'd love to hear them. Alternatively if the expanding of pages interest you we can begin such.

RP's Overarching Concept: None! It will be a complete sandbox
Genre/s:Post-Apo
Character or Faction Based:Character
Detailed Description: The RP takes place in New York City, 50 years after the Cuban Missile Crisis and eventual WWIII in the '60s, the players are supposed just live out the life of their character without any particular plot, I would from time to time drop a quick update and a random event, there would be now things such as ghouls or anything as it is completely detached from any franchise, but in Hudson there would be strange things, mutants that are unrecognizable mashes of various creatures running rampant, arthropods getting intelligence of humans and somewhere before the game there was like Ophrah Winfrey moment like " you get an extra limb, and you get an extra limb, everybody gets an extra limb " but there are still normal humans and animals, there would be no big head honcho faction but some settlements ( made entirely by players, yay ) but if the game gets old I'll give the veterans ( dramatic pause ) ability to create a faction, so what do you think

My first idea is to have them sabotage negotiations on a world contested between the Federation and the Klingon Empire so that a rival house can be decimated in the ensuing battle. The second is that the House of Duras contributes to Gorkon's rise to power. The third idea is that the House of Duras contributes to Gorkon's rise to power after the sabotaged negotiations.

Huh. Not a bad idea. A non-franchise post-Apoc is certainly a good idea - one note would be that you'll want a firm feel to the setting/something for characters to do, beyond their own organic goals. Freeform sandboxes work best with competition or large unifying events.

Well, for instance, a large enemy invasion - mutants coming down from the frozen north, and slowly overrunning the city. Or, say, a massive cache of tech that all players will be interested in acquiring. Something to give folks an incentive to interact with each other and build in-character rapport, instead of merely knocking about and talking to NPCs. Some writers are happy to do their own thing for days, or even weeks, but they will eventually get bored of being alone and drop out of the RP.

Having done some more research to examine your ideas I find I like all three of them. I think these are great ideas, and have personally considered expanding the STWCHB Timeline beyond how far it got. For example, and I haven't mentioned it until now- just kept it to myself as I'm not sure how it'd be taken- but I've had this idea of Picard having previously captained a Gemini class starship (precurser in the prime timeline to the Constellation class) and instead of a Galaxy class starship that he's captain of a Federation class- once the timeline gets into it's own 24th century.... eh... nervious about saying any of that. I've been limiting myself so- first mentioning it here.

Thing is... like- I don't know- how the timeline would impact characters like Worf as it's pre-motion picture canon so.... eh time to shake my nerves; any opinion on that? Again haven't done anything with it but- it's something I've considered.

Regarding the third idea, I think I favor it the most as it combines the elements of the other two.

The House of Mogh could be allies of the House of Kor and the House of Konjah in your timeline, making them more powerful than they were in canon. This would make Lieutenant Commander Worf's discommendation in TNG and the House of Mogh being stripped of its lands, titles, and military forces in DS9 more significant.

WOW I do like your ideas. I'm thrilled actually as this statement sounds amazing to enact. Due to the nature of house Kor, and that House Mogh was considered of high standing- well- wow haha you know how to make someone excited. I think the hairs on my neck are standing up!

Edit: I've been working to gather information on the Klingon Empire for the wiki, so far- so good :)

Quest/Mission Idea: The USS Goemon, a Miranda Class Starship, having received a priority one distress call from the USS Rasputin, a Saladin Class Starship, enters the Trill system, only to discover wreckage, the bridge of the Rasputin floating among it. Suddenly, seven Nausicaan vessels are detected, weapons activated and shields up. They are refusing hails and the vessels are hidden from visual range by the wreckage. It is a game of cat and mouse reminiscent of submarine battles. The Goemon finds a Nausicaan Vessel and opens fire, destroying it with a well placed spread of torpedoes. Two more Nausicaan vessels attack, severely damaging the warp core before being destroyed. the rest of the Nausicaan vessels unleash their full arsenal, destroying the Goemon. A Romulan vessel decloaks and beams payment to the Nausicaan vessels before departing. However, due to the Goemon being destroyed before it can send a distress call, Starfleet does not know about the events that have transpired in the Trill system, ordering all available ships to investigate the Goemon's disappearance.

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: US Air Force investigations of UFOs in the 1950s
Genre/s: Sci-Fi, Alt-History, Conspiracy, and Mystery
Character or Faction Based: Character
Detailed Description: The year is 1948 and the United States Air Force is in its infancy. Born out of the end of the Second World War, the nation’s newest service is at the forefront of technological development. Captain Chuck Yeager has just broken the sound barrier. Jack Northrop’s radical flying wing design has flown. America’s first rockets are being tested somewhere out in the desert. For all of the radical new science and technology, the Air Force has become consumed by one mystery. What are people seeing in the skies above America’s cities and towns? Flying saucers, they call them. Faced with mounting pressure to investigate and debunk the sightings, the Air Force has stood up a brand new unit, Project Sign, to investigate Flying Saucers. Assembling a group of pilots, Office of Special Investigations agents, engineers, intelligence officers, and scientists, the Air Force is looking to America’s finest to solve the mystery and calm the public.

Need Help With: Storyline development and potentially a CO-OP with some experience in running a character RP, as my own experience with it is limited.
