I'm making a Kingdom Hearts RP with the idea that people played as isekai'd people from our world to help save the universe in order to leave. It will take place after KH3 with Keyblade War II being a victory for the Guardians but the Realm of Light is still shattered and most of the heroes are dead or just retired from fighting the Darkness.

You can be good guy or bad, don't give a shit about that, but the idea is to try and pull this off since no one has done it before. We will stick to a few Disney, Square Enix and creative worlds. I will not be doing other cartoons, Star Wars or Marvel because that's a can of worms I don't want to open.

I don't know if this will gain interest. I don't know if it would be worth the risk. If people want to try something stupid out with me or actually have questions, then I will like either or. Just thought that this idea maybe worth something new to try out.

But still very, very fucking stupid.

I have two similar ideas in the pipeline.

Not space pirates, per se. More of a Firefly clone

And how about thieves instead of mercs? In a giant mediaeval city?

Sort of like Sanctuary?

I've been browsing some threads lately, so here you go: I'm thinking of an NS Warrior Cats roleplay. Idk what else to say.

Would anybody out there be interested in a pirate RP? Because I haven't put up an RP in a while, I wanted to make sure my management skills were more on point so this would stand a chance. I wanted to make sure the idea stuck so I'd be committed...would anybody actually be down for that?

I have several ideas for a superhero RP, but I don't wish to create one yet. However, I will share my ideas.
1. My first idea is one that I'm willing to do and have some major interest for. If you watched the exploitation films of The Toxic Avenger and Hobo with a Shotgun, it about vigilantes in a crime-ridden city fighting for justice violently to establish peace. Both are over the top gorefest, but do have the possible setting for a RP. In Crusaders of Concrete, which I name this RP, you get to play as either a hero or criminal fighting in a crime-infested slum of a city, where literally chaos is rampant.
2. My second idea is based on the comic series Irredeemable and the Injustice franchise, where you get to play as a villain who becomes good, after a superhero that swears to protects Earth snaps and completely wipes out millions of people over a simple mistake. After that, not only is the superhero after you, but the whole world is attempting to outlaw crime-fighting. Now thrown in a dystopian reality, you fight for justice, even if everyone is against you.
3. My last superhero idea focuses on your character, being an average normal individual, who after something happens to them gives them superpowers, turns them into a meta-human, or forces them to become a superhero, they are immediately taken to a super society and organization who wish to recruit them to stop several threats that wishes to plague the world.

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

Let me give my opinion:
I think 1 and 3 sound pretty generic. Those are generic concepts for a superhero RP, ones which have been covered before I’m sure. However, I do also suppose it’s good to go back to the basics. I mean, hey, the point of a superhero RP is so people can do superhero stuff. So, they are generic, but sound good enough for people to wanna RP it. I would, at least.
I think option 2 sounds the most interesting out of the options. It seems a pretty unique concept to superhero RP. I think I would definitely be more excited for that kind of an RP, with much more anticipation.
I could see any of the three could go well. 1 and 3 because of the genetics of the concepts that go down to the roots of superheroes, and option 2 because of the unique concept. Personally, I would love to see option 2

That's not a problem. I wanted to throw it far into the future to make a new story that can have the past stories be learned as we the RP goes on. Or so I hoped.

Now that I have a discord... and seeing how my old RP group is- not very active- care to partake in some RP development?

I returned from my trip - different.

I left for a one day trip out of state and I rarely go out of state- especially not this far- the furthest I've been from home on this Earth.

And while away was nudged outside my comfort zones and while afraid the experiences have caused me to loose some interest in what I was previously involved in.

My heart rate didn't return to normal for- some time- and- well.... hmm....

I'm really tired, and I'll probably get interested in what I was doing before the trip again but for now- as I've yammered too much already- I'd like to take a character RP project out of a 'for the RP group only' category and into the public domain.

==========================================
Mysteries, Teens, Strange Life, and Travel
==========================================
If that sounds familiar that's because It's been inspired by Scooby-Doo which was the first to use the concept.

The setting for these adventures is an alternate version of our own world- one where it's hard to tell if you're in the 60s, 90s, 2000s, or some other time. I was inspired ofcourse by the before mentioned Scooby-Doo but also from Archie's Weird Mysteries, Life is Strange, and a we bit of Stranger Things and Super Eight.

While the setting was originally devised as a ground for private RPs with in my RP group I'm ready- due to their inactivity- to expand and modify the setting with input from players such your selves. Due to the nature of the setting's origin as a 'sandbox' where nearly anything from ghosts to aliens could exist- it may need refinement though it currently offers a wide range of player options (as it was intended to). The First Private RP was a Slice of Life experience which like many of my early projects- lacking a plot- and having a school (of which I failed to plan ahead for) - failed.

The RP in mind will be focused on a group of characters in this world- be they premade or player designed has yet to be determined.

=============
Not Our World
=============
The setting, which has thus far only been called 'Private RP Setting' and is thus in need of a better name, deviates from our own enough to be a strange mixture of times but not foreign enough to be unrecognizable. Much of the below will likely not be essential to any mystery plots those who join me devise (we can all be OP at somepoint running adventures we've designed for the group) but the information is a good touch to distance the world from our own;
Image
  • Equivalent: United Nations
  • Established Post WW2.
  • Has characteristics of the LoN and UN. It's meant to be a stand in for the UN but also a generic world assembly. This is for the same reason that NS has the WA; the UN doesn't like you to include it in fiction.

Image
  • Puerto Rico as per the 2017 referendum is the 51st state.
  • Not a ULN member.

Some territories also have different flags but other then the military looking less modern for some reason, cassettes and records still selling in stores, and Holographic technology being advanced but featuring mostly in specialized theaters- not much else is different about the world.

Except- some things discussed but never finalized- like- the idea of Vampries in the American Civil War.

Oh and Super Heroes are a thing....

Anyone interested?

It's- the setting probably seems like a mess because of what and all it includes which is why 'thinning it down' is welcomed.

Excellent :D Well- now I have to decide the next step- a thread to refine the world or a thread to devise the RP. I for one do have one character I want involved in the RP and know that getting caught up in developing background can hinder an RP's launch but it's something I still feel should be done. ... I think I have a good idea for getting planning moving- what sort of character would you like to play if you got involved as a character?

Edit: I just thought of us doing a test run- a simple RP with a set up, planned focus, and likely conclusion....

So here is what I'm thinking for our test; an Open RP that involves a group of friends new a town called Woodview. They are camping out in the woods and as is a traditional pass time of such will be telling scary stories. We'll get to acquaint our selves with the characters share some stories and conclude the night- deciding for our selves if we want to continue to dawn.... perhaps having some ideas after that of where to go with the characters.

I've just stumbled across a report from the US Army, Envisioning the Deep Future of Small Arms 2022-2042, discussing the future evolution of small arms in the next few decades. It includes, among other things, four different future scenarios for the security environment from 2022-2042. I've copied one such scenario below. I think they'd make interesting, if highly stereotypical, geopolitical themes if anyone wants inspiration. The four scenarios seem driven by the two questions, are primary security threats state actors (rival countries), or non-state actors (e.g. terrorists) and is the world a peaceful and orderly place, or is it a chaotic belligerent place, with each scenario representing each of the four possible combination of answers.

I've tried to replicate the formatting of the original text. Explanations of abbreviations in square brackets, my own.

The original report is here. The scenarios are from pages 38 to 43, with a "surprise-free" intermediate scenario in the next few pages.

Global Footprint

The United States is engaged in a continuous string of low-intensity conflicts and relief operations. At home, political support for large defense budgets has fallen, and the Army is forced to adopt a near-term emphasis. Coalition operations and leveraging of off-the-shelf resources have become the order of the day.

It's 2042, and the US Army is deeply engaged in low-intensity operations and relief missions around the world. Speaking to the press from his command post in Djibouti, the regional commander of AFRICOM [Africa Command] characterized the global situation as, "a giant game of whack-a-mole. Every time we solve one humanitarian crisis or take out one tin pot warlord three more pop up." Over the past 30 years, the Army has supported various international relief missions while managing a constant background hum of tension throughout Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Throughout the 2020's and 2030's accelerating climate change made global weather patterns highly volatile, with "100 year storms" happening every 3-5 years. The developing world has borne the brunt of the uptick in natural disasters. Population density has been rising throughout the developing world for the past 30 years, leading to crowded urban centers, many located on coastal lands frequently hit by major hurricanes and tsunamis. The number of people living near active geological fault lines has also increased, leading to massive casualties and economic destruction from earthquakes. Drought and desertification in Africa and Asia have led to famine and created a tide of refugees fleeing civil unrest and wars fought over water and arable land.

All of this upheaval has created a dynamic mission set for the US Army. At any given point Soldiers are deployed in missions ranging from calming civil unrest during disaster relief missions to rooting out tribal militias engaged in ethnic cleansing. For the most part, enemy fighters are lightly armed and poorly trained compared with US forces. However, engagements frequently occur on urban terrain under the ever-present eye of the international press (including many local eyewitnesses broadcasting to the world with smart phones). Furthermore, enemy forces often shield themselves with noncombatants and employ child Soldiers, creating significant tactical problems for squads.

Despite daily media reports on food riots, tsunamis, and ethnic conflict most Americans believe the United States itself to be secure. Military confrontation with China never materialized the way many feared in the early part of the 21st century, and the discovery of massive reserves of shale oil and natural gas in the continental US coupled with the European's move toward renewable and nuclear power removed most points of friction with traditional competitors. As a result, political support for large-scale defense budgets has fallen dramatically. From 2022-2042 the budget for the Department of Defense gradually held steady between 3-4% of GDP. The Army has been well funded to support its high OPTEMPO [operational tempo, the rate/frequency of military actions and missions]. However, the cost this global footprint has led to an emphasis on near-term investments to sustain current operations and maintain current systems.

"Leveraging" has become a cornerstone of defense policy. Missions that cannot be handled entirely by Special Forces or support units invariably involve some degree of partnership with allies and regional forces. In fact, one more than one occasion the Army has found itself operating with odd bedfellows. For instance, in 2030 Soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division found themselves fighting alongside Chinese infantry during a U.N. peacekeeping operation to restore order to North Sudan.

The strong emphasis on joint and international partnerships has led Army acquisition staff to look toward COTS [commercial off-the-shelf] technology or systems that afford cost-sharing with other services or allies. This has affected every facet of weapon systems procurement, from the kind of small arms the Army purchases to the kind of robotic systems that have been incorporated into squads. Investments in new weapons research and development focus on niche applications that cannot be leveraged from partners or the defense industry. Where new systems are sought from the science and technology community, the emphasis is on durable, ''multi-use" systems that meet near- to midterm needs.

Impact on the Global Small Arms Ecosystem

This security scenario will likely generation operational requirements to powerfully accelerate the development and deployment of “less than lethal” small arms and crew serviced weapon systems. Basically, there will be the pressure to develop small arms that having features of the Star Trek “Phaser”. Furthermore, the SOF [Special Operations forces] community will be a dominate player in this political military environment and the nature of targeted engagement will drive interest in maintaining combat overmatch at the squad and platoon level. Major efforts are likely to develop increasingly autonomous aerial and ground robotic combat systems to support small squad-level operations. Most of the military operations will not be in a high threat air defense environment, many of the squad robotic enablers will likely be UCAVs [unmanned combat aerial vehicles] with high persistence and/or micro-system with self-initiating swarming attributes.

Residency:

The Strumvitnir reside in the woods surrounding the town.We migrated down from Mountain Heights way back when, and have resided here in Woodview ever since.

Interests: Axes, Trees, Pine Scent
Personality: Depends, you ask a lot of question, why can't you just be content and enjoy what life gives you. Temp fate a little *chops wood* climb a tree, or camp under an open sky.

Background: I think I've said enough. I cut wood, my dad cuts wood, and my mother cuts wood. I'm a local, I like the woods. I like to hang out when it suits me, and to be alone when it doesn't. I don't like people asking questions, and I respect the privacy of others. Now are you gonna pay for this wood or not?

Notes: Is a student at Woodview High. She is a proud, independent, usually silent, and ponderous soul who never doubts her decisions.

:) For an easy entry into the RP and also to make the year of the RP 2018 I'm going to have Monica be a young adult (which actually makes more sense) and the person who during previous planning for the trip was decided as transportation. That way we know how we got to the camp site and have some material for character background beyond that. I'll get to work on the OOC.

Edit: Well... actually- idk- I mean- about the age- but I'll think of something. Having an idea of what character you'd like to play would help.

My edge in creating OOCs has dulled.

Right now my work feels- lack luster compared to my latest height some years ago. My OOCs use to be praise worthy- well- regardless one can't build themselves back up with out having to start at the base. I feel like my present work is the product of a mind less experienced then my own.

I'll come back to it.... it's a work week after all.

You are about to enter a world unlike your own but familiar, the same time but a different place in an alternate reality.

To the forests just outside a West Virginian town named Woodview.

You are among a group who have been planning a camping trip this october in the mountain forests.

As planned you and the others have packed up inside Monica Strumvitner's truck to this place.

Monica's a local woman, one of the oldest on the trip, she's alright and it's time for

OP Character: Monica "Monty" Strumvitner
Monica is one of the oldest attending the trip and the one who has provided transportation. A local Monica graduated Woodview High and set about chopping wood as per her family's business. Boyish and 'cool' Monica had the reputation as a tough gal really into baseball- someone who has been in a few fights- and these have resulted in her gaining the name 'Monty' causing confusion among parents hearing about her. You and her have some connection. Perhaps you schooled together or perhaps she welcomed you to town. What ever the connection is it's enough for her to take you on this trip.

Strumvitner House, it's not far from the camp site by truck- by foot is another matter.

Participant Characters
This is a list of characters created by fellow participants.

Not Our World
This RP is in a setting that aims to include more then this single RP and while the year is 2018 the world of the RP is different but not enough to be unrecognizable. Porto Rico is the 51st State (as per the 2017 referendum) and rather then the United Nations this world has the United League of Nations (for the same reason that NS has the WA). VHS, Records, and Cassettes are still widely produced and sold. Some players may at times find it odd that things feel like the 70s, or early 90s despite all the tech of our own world existing in the setting though not being as widely used. The world is inspired by Life is Strange, Until Dawn, Scooby-Doo, Archie's Weird Mysteries, and Super 8. Not everyone nor everything may be what it seems in Woodview.

Character Creation
A note; the RP is simple for now- a group on a camping trip sharing stories around a camp fire but it's hoped the RP continues beyond that. After the stories are told we'll decide if we want to continue and how we want to continue over the OOC before implementing it on the IC. Until then, enjoy the stories and don't wonder too far....

Presently lacks a place to put the two main divergent details about the world; the US and ULN- not sure where to mention that but think it should be known before the start. Also should probably talk about the town.... hmm...

Maybe I should shorten the surname to Strum or just Storm- Monica Storm XD ahhaha nah naw... hmm.... Cassie Strum? ..... hmm...
