RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.

I Wish I Wasn't in Dixie: Wormwood, A Star Falleth

RP's Overarching Concept: A Schizo-Tech alternate history setting mixed with victorian customs, and clothing, slavery organized along Pavlovian lines, and steampunk-ish technology. You play as a citizen, foreigner, or a member of the intelligence bureau sent by the imperial government of the Imperial States of Columbia within the newly admitted state of Sylvania. Southern Pennslyvania along with several other areas was tore from the union following a disastrous war from 1912-1915. Formed in 1917 the State of Sylvania is a police state where former U.S citizens clash with settlers coming from the South. It is 1930, and the Union has collapsed with the New Englander's seceding as their government was unable to handle the severe economic crisis. The pro-unionists citizens of Sylvania watch in horror as the United States balkanizes while the Columbians gleefully look to exploit the incoming choas. You are citizens of Gettysburg, the capital of Sylvania, and watched with tension as something fell from space violently into the local lake. Some consider it a bad omen, and a warning to watch out for things to come.
Genre/s: Mystery, Horror, Investigative Fiction, and Supernatural elements wrapped up in an alternate history setting.
Character or Faction Based: Character based.
Detailed Description: Citizens in Gettysburg are at the forefront of a conflict between themselves, and outside forces. For all intents and purposes, Gettysburg is a model capital presented as a vibrant place for Columbians and their slaves to settle. The locals who lived here from before the war are kept strictly under control by the divide and conquer tactics of the secret police. Yet the appearance of a falling star hitting a lake spooks the populace. Characters will decide whether to suppress it or use it to incite change. Nevertheless, humans aren't your only enemy...there are reports of people who died suddenly coming back since that incident at the lake. At first, you may have thought it minor medical miracles, but people are coming back according to the rumors from all over the globe. Many of them are able to hold a conversation and go about their old lives. Some, however...have a ravenous hunger and are attacking people. These are just rumors, right? Some of the local occult societies might say otherwise. They call it a "rising", and some say it's going to get a lot worse while others use this as proof that immortality can be achieved. Nevertheless, Gettysburg is going to get far more exciting in the following days.

Here are a couple ideas that I have heard batted around (and mine) put into the interest block thingies.

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: Cold War espionage RP, where players are Eastern Bloc spies tasked with bringing down the French government. It's a race against time as they work to prevent the USSR from collapsing, as it happened in real life, by knocking down the enemy first...
Genre/s: Espionage
Character or Faction Based: Character
Detailed Description: It's 1963, in Paris — a small group of spies from behind the Iron Curtain, smuggled into the UK under the cover of darkness, is tasked with bringing down the French government — by any means necessary — and doing as much damage to the enemy as possible. Like I said, this is a race against time, as real life Cold War milestones are going to happen (like the moon landing, German Reunification, and the collapse of the USSR) unless the players can prevent them.

This RP is going to be small and intimate with the players, and I'll probably close signups soon after I open it when there are enough people. The players are going to have a lot of freedom, and anything they can do to help the cause will be well received. Also, although the main mission (at the beginning, at least) is going to be taking down the French government, players may be called to do different tasks, like assassinate political enemies or retrieve a captured spy.

I'm still in the workshopping phase for this RP, and coming up with ideas, so sorry that it's all shakily laid out right now.

Need Help With: Co-op, gauging interest, and probably fleshing this out some. I also need a name, I have a title card all set up, but I don't know what this RP should be called.

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: Historical political RP
Genre/s: Historical, Roman Empire, Politics
Character or Faction Based: Character, but you can form informal factions
Detailed Description: It is the height of the Roman Empire. The Senate, an old and important branch of Roman administration, has risen to become the most powerful institution the Emperor could rely upon. Its consuls are commanders of the military, its senators from well-known and respected families in all sectors of life, and they all meet to discuss the future of the greatest empire in its time. But as more power comes to Rome, more chances for that power arise. And you, as a senator, must ensure that you join the right faction, lest you become a victim of all the power struggles.

Need Help With: Better lore, more ideas, a title, and generally fixing it up.

Mhm I’ll be interested in joining. Got any rough draft of how this is going to work?

Essentially, and I'll try not to give spoilers, it starts in like Poland or somewhere inside the Iron Curtain. All of the agents are briefed on their mission, and given mission files about their targets, and each of them learn what the other people are skilled at. Then, they are flown by plane into France and paradropped near the alps, where a contact is waiting for them. Then they embark on their mission.

LIke I said, this is going to be very sandbox-ey and the players will have a lot of control over what they do and where they go, and it will be the main job of the OPs to, essentially, deal with that. The players will have the freedom to do essentially whatever they want to complete the mission, making contacts, assassinating people, etc. I get the feeling it will move past France, and into some other places too.

The agents might also get calls from HQ, and get new assignments on top of this one. Find a spy and kill him. Find a government worker and kill him. Find blueprints for a nuclear plant, and steal them and destroy everything regarding the technology that they have. Plant a bomb in a car that the director of MI6 is driving to a parade. The possibilities are very open.

But the main mission objective, at least for the beginning of the RP, is to take down the French government, by any means necessary. So obviously players will be working towards that, towards taking down the government. Whether by assassinating the president, starting a coup, forcing him to resign, it doesn't matter.

Alternatively, the first mission could be a CIA-style regime change somewhere in the third world or a poor non-NATO first world country. That's just up in the air.

If players do blow their cover, then the enemy agents will, obviously, try to kill him or capture him. And obviously, the player doesn't want that. They'll probably have to get back to Moscow or something, or find a way to fake their death and get a new identity. Some players may be in deep cover, and not take other missions, because they are trusted by the people they are working against and they are influencing them and gaining information that way.

Players can be killed, especially if they do something stupid. Then the OOC player can make a new agent (the technical IRL term is an officer, an agent is a civilian the officers use to get information) and do the whole thing again.

Players can also be captured, and if they are captured likely tortured for information. If they escape, dang good for them. But it would be very difficult and probably require another agent rescuing them. If they give up information, then that's going to be used against them or something. I don't really know how the torture system is going to work, hopefully we don't get there...

Real life events will or will not happen according to the OP and Co-op's discretion. If we feel like the players have done a successful job of preventing them, we may change how things work out, meaning that China never gets the atomic bomb or the Apollo program never got off the ground. And some things that didn't happen, might happen that benefit the players. Like Tito repairing relations with the USSR. Or Afghanistan being successfully occupied. Or one of the communist revolutions working out. Or even something bigger, like West Germany uniting with East Germany as communist. Something like that. I'm not entirely sure.

That's pretty much my rough draft, as you can see it's very rough. What do you think?

I liked the CIA regime. Or maybe a Middle-East one in the Arab Wars (just an idea). Seems pretty good though. Who will decide the results of the actions?

I wonder a bit about the prospects of changing history, how powerful are our spies? I mean sure, some things can easily be accomplished by killing the right person, but what about more complex things, like the space race or wars? Although I assume rule of fiction will be in play of course.

Maybe you've seen the series Deutschland about a Stasi spy?

Of course, but you also have to look at how, in real life, so many things almost happened because of something a spy did. For instance, Dmitri Polyakov, a Russian double agent loyal to the US, provided information that showed how the USSR was collapsing, which allowed the US to have the upper hand in pressuring Kruschev. Or the spies that helped create Operation Paperclip, which extracted scientists from Germany out of the Nazi regime, including Otto Von Braun who helped form the US space program. Or Klaus Fuchs, who supplied the USSR with US nuclear secrets and helped them develop their nuclear program. Or the Mossad agents that killed the Nazis that escaped to Argentina. And Curveball, the Iraqi US spy who lied about the bioweapons trucks and caused the Iraq war. And the countless other spies that gave information on all sorts of things, ranging from who had nuclear missiles to what governments could be toppled. The players will probably be more powerful than they would be realistically, given that we want to make this interesting and reports about blueprints for ammunition factories are not interesting. This will probably be more James Bond-esque than historical, for the sake of a fun RP.

I haven't seen Deutschland, but i will definitely check it out!

Ok, got it! I'm getting vibes of The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared and its' sequel, which is a good thing. :)

There's three seasons of it, Deutschland 83, Deutschland 86, and Deutschland 89. A similar series is Weissensee.

I read the original Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared book, it's not exactly what I was going for but ok! I kinda get vibes of that too now that I think about it.

My Hulu subscription expired, but when I get around to renewing it (someday) I will definitely be sure to watch those!

Ok, the cold war RP sounds amazing. Any updates?

Haha, thank you! I'm still kind of talking with other people on this thread to set it up, but what I have written so far:

Madrinpoor wrote:Essentially, and I'll try not to give spoilers, it starts in like Poland or somewhere inside the Iron Curtain.

Another question, will the Sino-Soviet split be a factor? Can we be spies from all over the world or is it preferred to be Soviet-aligned?

Maybe you have an idea for a setting or plot?

Yeah, in my head I’m think an AU-centered rp taking place around 7 years after the events of ROTS

The USSR and China are probably in the early stages of splitting at this point, in 1963 (I think that's when I said it was, I'll have to check) but the players can probably turn that around.
