By the way, nice flag. Doesn't put one in as much mind of the deceptions the way the previous one did.

Thanks. It is actually canon, mainly as the insignia of the Seekers, iirc.

Hey! This RP has been less active lately (due to my busy schedule the last several weeks), but it still is alive and accepting apps. Comedy plus space plus janitors saving the galaxy. So far, lots of fun. And soon to get a kickstart back up.

Check out Mars Needs Windex!

I give it a try! ^^

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST

RP's Overarching Concept: A blend between an open world character and faction RP with game elements based in the Command & Conquer Universe
Genre/s: Sci-Fi, Video Game, Post apoc(?)
Character or Faction Based: Both
Detailed Description: Resource. Commodity. Calling Card. Weapon. Harbinger.

Tiberium is known by many names by many people. Simply put, it has become a facet of life as we know it, and we are hopeless to stop it. Since the arrival of the luminescent green crystals in the late 1990s, Humanity has been perpetually locked in a fight for their very right to exist on this increasingly hostile planet. The world may never be free of it, since Tiberium has become a resource—the most valuable resource on Earth, ever encroaching upon the Blue Zones that hold the last remaining bastions of human life. The Brotherhood of Nod and Global Defense Initiative are at war again, and an end to the war is seemingly out of sight.

The Third Tiberium war is upon us. Welcome back, Commander.

Introductory Information

As a member of either the Global Defense Initiative, Brotherhood of Nod, or one of many nomadic Forgotten armies, you have various military and diplomatic responsibilities for commanding your army, building your base, and finishing the fight in this increasingly hostile world, and have various weapons at your disposal to help you achieve your goal.

The Third Tiberium War

FACTIONS

Image

The United Nations Global Defense Initiative (UNGDI), or Global Defense Initiative (GDI), is the military branch of the United Nations, which later became a supranational global security organization and government of Earth. It was founded in accordance with the United Nations Global Defense Act (UNGDA), on the date of October 12, 1995, as a formalized military branch of the United Nations for global peacekeeping. GDI's initial goal was to preserve world order by combating global terrorism and genocide, epitomized by its nemesis the Brotherhood of Nod, but during the advent of the Tiberium Wars, it later focused on protecting the world from the spread of Tiberium and Nod's increasingly militant activities. After the Second Tiberium war, it eventually outgrew its original mandate to become a world government.

Integrating the armies and resources of the most powerful nations on the planet and backed by a UN budget, GDI is capable of instantly deploying well-trained and well-equipped soldiers backed by powerful air, ground, naval, and orbital assets to anywhere on the globe, though this may be strained by the presence of Tiberium. GDI troops utilize both superior armor and firepower compared to their Nod counterparts, and will almost always win in open and direct engagements, though their doctrine is cumbersome and lacking in flexibility at best. Nod can easily exploit these weaknesses with a combination of guerrilla warfare and advanced Tiberium-based technology. By the Third Tiberium war, GDI was restructured to allow for decentralized operations through the establishment of forward operating bases by Mobile Construction vehicles, and supported by an advanced network of orbital satellites, especially their Ion Cannon, which is capable of devastating a large area in a massive blast.
Image

The Brotherhood of Nod (often shortened to "Nod" or the "Brotherhood") is a global, religiously developed movement devoted to the guidance of the enigmatic and charismatic figure of Kane, and the extraterrestrial Tiberium substance that arrived on Earth in 1995. Although Nod surfaced in 1995 at the time of the substance's arrival, before this date, the Brotherhood was actually an ancient and secret society claiming to have originated prior to 1800 BC. Reported beliefs include that Kane is an immortal prophet whose guidance dates back through their alleged millennia of secrecy, and that Tiberium is the catalyst for the next stage of human evolution. Nod is linked to the three Abrahamic traditions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism, but its followers do not belong to any of these three traditions. While almost all Nod activity is concerned with complex economic, military and scientific foci, its religiously articulated ideology drives this. During the arrival of Tiberium, Nod emerged and was targeted as a terrorist group by the Global Defense Initiative, for actively using the dangerous tiberium substance to fund a military-industrial complex in impoverished regions, primarily Africa and other equatorial nations, and to pursue total domination over the world's peoples and resources. By the Third Tiberium war, Nod's influence had reached nothing short of an unconventional superpower.

Nod is a flexible and elusive army that thrives on a sophisticated synergy between low-tech guerrilla warfare and advanced forces equipped with high-tech weapons systems derived from the Brotherhood's understanding of Tiberium technology. It also possesses an affinity with cybernetics, fire weaponry, and laser-based weapons systems, and its base defenses are some of the most powerful, rivaling that of GDI. Nod tactics are highly unpredictable and unethical, often showing little regard for civilian life. Tiberium is used as a chemical weapon, though Nod suffers from internal conflicts as much as GDI is plagued by bureaucracy and overextension. While weaker than GDI in a head-to-head engagement, Nod uses advanced stealth systems and hit and run tactics to their advantage to take control of the battle and sabotage opposing armies. Their superweapon is a nuclear missile, which has a blast radius larger than GDI's Ion Cannon, and also use Tiberium-based weapons to their advantage.
Image

The Forgotten is a loose confederation of humans who possess a rare genetic mutation that renders them able to survive Tiberium poisoning, ending up as human/Tiberium hybrids. This rare strain of mutation has unfortunately left them permanently disfigured physically, but also granted them compatibility with Tiberium. They are shunned by normal society due to their horrific mutations and appearance, but thrive in Tiberium, as they are either immune to Tiberium poisoning or are able to absorb Tiberium to regain lost health. Some Forgotten have even joined in to assist GDI, especially during the Second Tiberium War. The Forgotten were directly involved in the Second Tiberium War and Firestorm Crisis and sustained heavy casualties; even their leader, Tratos, was killed in action. Following the Firestorm conflict, they emigrated into the seclusion of the harsh Tiberium-infested parts of the globe, where many of them have become mercenaries able to be employed by shrewd GDI or Nod Commanders...with a price.

The Forgotten use equipment which consists almost entirely of scavenged, hijacked or otherwise stolen weaponry and vehicles, which have been known to include anything from modified civilian vehicles outfitted with armor plating and weapons, to equipment hijacked from both GDI and Nod depots, to derelict and obsolete Mammoth tanks, to stolen experimental high-tech weaponry such as a portable railgun. The bases they operate from tend to be old, abandoned military buildings and/or converted civilian ones, and are typically set either in deserted Tiberium-infested wastelands or former ghost towns and cities which The Forgotten settled in. Most interestingly, the Forgotten have managed to tame deadly Tiberian fiends, using the canid Tiberium-mutated monsters for combat.

OOC INFO

As you probably guessed, this is a roleplay centered around the Command & Conquer universe, specifically the Tiberium Universe and subsequent Third Tiberium War, but with a few modifications to the story. There are two aspects to this roleplay: the on-the-ground approach and Commander's approach. Players can take the role of either. The soldier approach is a mostly open-world environment involving the player and his or her platoon or squad, which may be connected to the Commander side. They may also follow a mostly linear story with objectives and rewards related to their faction, managed by myself. The Commander's approach involves a far broader and more omnipotent position of power, where the Commander can instruct actions to be done within a battle and command soldiers, and his or her actions will have a greater effect on battles or the general story. Their actions can make or break a defensive, offensive, or other operation. If a Commander proves to be abusive or inefficient, his or her removal can be voted on, and a replacement can be found if deemed necessary. A Commander can represent one of the three major factions, and furthermore can be a part of one of two specialized factions within the sub-factions of GDI or Nod.

Disclaimer: a basic, barebones understanding of Command and Conquer is strongly recommended.

Need Help With: Establishing a proper faction/game system since I've got the character aspect handled, and help with making some applications.

EDIT: I should note that I have a rough draft of the OP up right now if you want to check it out.

Somewhat but I know any character i come up with would - likely be dead very quickly. Sure I could pull off a a very family oriented Tediore brand loyalist who just wants some stability in life and escapes the horrors of his homeland with a 'stepford wives' like level of denial but even that seems like someone would die quickly and brutally.

Vanq commands a quiet respect that carries its own authority. He is the Hitler of NS.

"I took away Vanq's YB for deliberatly ignoring me"

"I would love to have a writer of your caliber along for the ride"
"neo and vanq do a dbz fusion to form 1 big shitposter then get erased from NS by kyrusia"
"Which is the level of memeing I expect from Vanq"
"brigadier general comes on, pulls a vanq and calls us all autistic"

Would anybody be interested in a navy RP (fictional navy of course) where you start as a midshipman and you try juggling your life with rising through the ranks as an impending war starts to come up?

Greetings and well met, as you can see I am new here. At least this is a new account. I'm a returning member from 2010-2013 (roughly), and I am looking to get back into Nation States. I guess I could start things off with a question about an idea for a RP that I have. Mind you I won't be releasing it within any immediacy as I need to reintegrate myself here. I just thought I would use it as a point of introduction and conversation starter.

The idea is thus; in an ancient world setting (late stone age-bronze age, maybe iron age) a nomadic tribe has arrived in a lush region, uninhabited by any major tribes or kingdoms. The tribe is backwards and near barbaric, though are somewhat evolved in a sense. They're government is what one might call a "democracy of factions and parties". Decisions, policies, laws, and actions are discussed and voted on by three factions; the warrior faction, the religious faction, and the speakers of the tribe. Anyway, I'll come back to that.

The tribe settles in this region and evolves from tent-dwelling nomads and begin to establish a settlement, erecting temples to the gods, building houses and monuments, and erecting a forum and plotting farms, the whole nine yards. The tribe will face the challenges of growing as a society, such as droughts, famine, in-fighting, enemy attacks and invasions, negotiating with foreigners, and so forth. At one point they will face the opportunity to seize a kingdom and make it their own.

The RP will explore strategy, politics, societal growth, economic systems, diplomacy and such, and we will see just how well our players can evolve a society of nomads and what they will be molded in to.

Again, something I'm working on. Feedback is requested. It's good to be back!

I've been really slow at getting ideas I've posted about here going.

So to expediate things I've got a sport I've designed and a setting for it to be held in, and I must ask.

What can I do other then have a plot regarding a team cheating; to make players invested in the sport?

It 's maze running with a few traps, puzzles, obstacles, hidden items to aid the runners, and a robot hunting them down with each of the four teams of three seeking to reach the Mulegen Cup at the Maze's center.

A prize of some kind other than a medal- could work. Don't know what it should be but thought I'd ask ya'll for suggestions.

The game would be mechanics based so player characters actually have the risk of loosing.

For simplicity each of the four players would control a team of three as trying to organize a team of individuals here on NS at this stage may not work out well.

Map for an alternate history convept I’ve been playing with. Set around 1080-1090, Byzantium is fractured by civil war after a series of assassinations that has ended the Komnenus line of Byzantium and a power struggle has erupted. Thoughts? Input?

The concept started from a thought about making a Batman rp where people can play nearly any character, even allowing for there to possibly be multiple Batman's or other characters, my partner on this has thought of a version of Poison Ivy where she is Mayor of Gotham and without her typical powers.

Gotham, has never been the most peaceful of places, it once boasted a crime rate higher than the combined sums of many other cities known for their crime. Batman rose up to combat the injustice and corruption in Gotham, over the years he has recruited others to help, some have donned a costume others work within the rules. Gotham has changed as Batman has fought, most criminals fear him, others those greater than the rest view him as a challenge and an annoyance.

What if things were different, what if Batman was someone else, what if a villain like Poison Ivy was not a villain but a hero or the Mayor of Gotham perhaps. For nearly every choice made there are countless divergent dimensions or timelines produced. All of Gothams inhabitants, Capes, Crooks, and Bystanders alike have each had to make choices, choices which have caused Divergent realities to form.

I am familiar with that rp by flutters, i consulted with Flutters on that a bit as it was based loosely on or took influence from an rp of mine and a couple by Pf/Personal Freedom.
