That's a good point, although even if it were left hidden it would affect worldbuilding. (e.g. the myths and legends of post-apocalyptic people would be different depending on what exactly ended the world.)

That's true.

This is embarrassing but I have a memory issue that typically hinders my ability to host an RP after a certain number of days. I don't want that to happen with this RP (link) and have come for some direction; for I've forgotten my plans. I'll remember them in about two or three weeks (it's very embarrassing I'm sorry) but for now I'm kind of- coasting here. I remember talking to some of you but I don't remember if we ever discussed anything regarding the plot.

So- eh... this is a lot to ask- but if one or more of you could look at the IC or remind me of our conversations that would be helpful as I've mentally lost my 'to do list'. I'm very sorry, I don't like when this happens and it makes me feel - flawed.

Co-OPs-

- "Our forces were in dire straits... The enemy calvary had just routed our right flank and everyone thought that it was the end. I was among Alaro's guard that day. He didn't care for his own safety; just for the safety of his soldiers. He disappeared into the enemy horde and for a moment I feared he had been cut down... But later I saw the Emperor, blood and gore encrusted on his valiant blade, fighting with the strength of a thousand men. At that moment I couldn't tell if he was an elf, or a god..."

Soldier of the Order of the Phoenix, written in 2284 of the 3rd Era

"...We had left Eroris as strong men, proud and ignorant of the atrocities that we would face... but now we are just scared boys, broken, riven, and doomed to die..."

-Fallen Soldier

Today is the 30th of Hard Rain (4) the year 4E 901. Alaro Ashen's heirs still rule his Empire, but now they, and the whole of Eroris, face the greatest threat in Erori history. Though, to get to the heart of the story, we have to go back to the beginning.

When Alaro Ashen first united the bickering states of Eroris under his Ashen Empire, the people rejoiced. They were tired after centuries in the darkness of the Third and worse Interregnum. Man killed Man, Beast killed Beast, and Elf killed Elf. The wars of the Third Interregnum were terrible. However, what the people of Eroris failed to realize at the start of the Empire was that a greater prize, dominion over all of Eroris, led to greater conflict. The years of Alaro, and his son Alyari after him, were times of peace and prosperity. And when I say years, I am referring to a few hundred years; elves are naturally long lived after all. However, this tendency to live a hundred, nay, three-hundred years led many Ashen princes to ponder: "Wouldn't it be better if I was the Emperor?" At first, these feelings lingered under the surface, leaving the aging Alyari to dread what would occur following his death. He warned his family to stop bickering over the most trivial of matters before a conflict between cousins turned into a conflict between provinces. These words, however, fell on deaf ears. And, as often comes true with the predictions of dying old men, Alyari's fears came true. The first war of the Ashens, the War of the Phoenix, devastated Eroris on a scale the minor warlords of the Interregnum could only dream of. A continent ripe for the taking was just too great a prize for some. There were periods of peace, yes, but in the end, another long lived uncle or cousin emerged to challenge another for the right to the throne. All this came to a head, however, with the death of Aren II.

Now, Aren II was no ordinary Ashen. He was ambitious, much like Alaro before him, and this ambition led him to his death. You see, what is the point of ambition to conquer more for the Empire when all before his eyes is already conquered? His solution was simple: the southern continent of Akou. Now, not much was known about Akou in those days and even today. Most of the information modern Eroris has on Akou comes from the few races of the land that have migrated onto Eroris. Nevertheless, this foolhardy Emperor invaded, eighty-thousand men, the largest force ever assembled in Erori history, set out to Akou and only one frightened soul returned. Eroris forgot about Aren II's foolish mission... but Akou did not. After his death during his invasion, the War of the Black Phoenix erupted, in which all but one Ashen was killed, the reigning Emperor, up until very, very recently: Azelian the Great. Now, Azelian the Great looked back on all that had gone wrong with his dynasty, and decided that, in the event of his death, any Ashen could challenge the heir apparent for the throne not in war, but in a trial by combat: The Proving. Of course, since he was the only Ashen left, this seemed to be a wise decision on his part. However, this decision could very well doom Eroris. For just a few days before the 30th, the day our story begins, our great, wise Emperor Azelian received reports that a large group of... marauders, we shall call them, had landed on the Valyarian Isle of Alista, and had laid siege to Evermoor. He set out with a legion, confident that he would drive the rabble from his shores. Little did he know, which he would only discover upon his death, was that this was no rabble. This was an invasion...

And that brings us back to now. The Isle of Alista remains cut off from all outside contact as a fleet of "marauders" guards the coast of this great isle. Meanwhile, the sole white raven flies high towards Isnhrion to reignite a conflict between two brothers that could very well doom the world, and I am not speaking lightly when I say this. The dice has been cast, the pieces have been placed, prayers have been answered, (and Lore has been typed) This is the Legend of the Akouteen Invasion.

"I'm not a leader because I am sure of myself, I am leader because my people are sure of me."
-Alaro Ashen

Expect the New Eroris RP in two days :D

I don't think you're flawed, and I don't think you should see it as something that's immediately "wrong" with you. I forget stuff regularly myself. Only yesterday I forgot my entire track of mind mere minutes after I had it - and it was critically important. Probably spent the next ten minutes after that trying to remember it.

First thing you can do is write everything down. I've got heaps of text files and word documents with notes, often not even full sentences. I would suggest not just writing down words because in my experience you forget why you wrote them down in the first place and it'll start to look more like an abstract poem. Make sure you write it down so you can make sense of it later.

Secondly, don't get hung up on no longer remembering 100% what you were thinking of previously. It's like when you had an epic dream and can't remember all of it, and then forget more because you're trying too hard to remember specific details. It'll just wind you up for no reason.

Seeing how I was required to keep a scheduling booklet at school even after the other students where no longer required to do so- writing things down is the best option and I appreciate the responses from both of you. I'll attempt to get back into making notes again and I'll attempt to keep the RP going. It may not go as I had originally intended (what ever that may have been) but perhaps it'll go in a more interesting direction or to places I had not imagined previously.

So I created the Devil's Whisper RP a few weeks ago, but it quickly died. The setting was in the fictional country of Cagia, a land where magic is everywhere. The ruling family, the House of Allegrod, was recently deposed in a coup that wiped out the entire family. The Esquoria Family was behind this. The players would choose a faction or create their own and either make a claim for the throne themselves, or support another ruler.

I was told that one of the issues was that the RP moved too slowly, and that the players didn't have much to actually do. I even had a few players say they didn't know what to post about. Would anyone here be willing to help me reboot and come up with ways to make the RP more enjoyable and interactive?

RP INTEREST AND FEEDBACK REQUEST
Please provide as much detail as possible.
RP's Overarching Concept: A group of people try to make a TV show from scratch. They are not good at it.
Genre/s: Mostly Comedy/some drama/add whatever else that could happen
Character or Faction Based: Character
Detailed Description: A big TV station (Name TBD) past it's prime needs a hit TV show to get back on track. They decide to hire a bunch of amateurs as big stars (be they directors, actors, writers etc.) are either too expensive or know that the entire project is doomed to fail and would most likely drag them down with it. Hiring mostly idealistic students using the station's name recognition doesn't help the station's cause either (and they know it). Each player/participant would become one of the crew members shaping the world as we go along (with the most important details being decided on before we start). Even the show itself would be started from scratch! The idea behind the RP is to make interactions between PCs fairly casual and humoristic. If you need any more describing just think of something along the lines of the Office or Parks and Rec in a different setting.

Need Help With: Oh, god. Is everything an acceptable answer? Because I need help with everything. Firstly, is this a good idea? It just struck me so I might soon regret it. Some basic world building like names or a list of possible roles would be a good start.

Since a social RP isn't something I usually come across yet desire (and I do have some mild acting experience) ... I think I can get involved. I do have a world of caution as I did try to run an RP about graphic novel writers- you are going to have to work to get the players to settle on those important details about the show. The graphic novel RP mostly consisted of player characters not settling on what their new series should be about (even with content codes in play).

I'd personally hahha personally suggest a sitcom at the meeting

The sitcom is the main idea. I think I'll have a producer character who'll resolve any possible deadlocks.

I have a bit of a Danganronpa RP that I'm releasing this July. It has been a while, since I made a Danganronpa RP, but I want to make this one interesting.
Local 22 year old Diet Coke Addict College Student Ruins Everything

Quote of the Week: "A NEW STORY ON WRITING THREAD FOR HALLOWEEN!! MYSTERY MINE AVAILABLE NOW!"

RPs I do
- How do you do fellow kids? You want to see something violent? - Artemis: Deimos Trafficking League (Horror/Mature)
- Descend into the forgotten tourist traps of Florida on this transgressive RP! - The Community (Mature/Black Comedy/Slice-of-Life)

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! MNM is a mysterious and extremely dangerous dictatorship filled with supernatural oddities, demons, militarized soldiers everywhere, and a misanthropic nihilistic dictator who doesn't give a damn. It's basically if the SCP Foundation got mixed with 1984.

I have one in the works- it's planned to have a four player limit and so far we have half of that. It's also in a setting that's been used in previous RPs- a setting with pages on a wikia site.

So. Say you stumbled across a new RP here on PuB. Say it put you in command of your very own mercenary band in a weird, Warhammer-flavoured setting. You'd probably be involved with sieges, raids, war and general mayhem. But what else would you expect to do in a setting like that? Better yet, what would you like to do? In what way would you prefer to interact with the world around you?

$0.10 for your thoughts!

Make that three. Once I actually come up with an interesting character concept, I'm definitely going to join. (I'm more experienced coming up with characters for fantasy/sci-fi/otherwise non-mundane RPs, and I'm finding "switching gears" to be difficult.)
