PSYCH EVALUATION:
Julian, or "J" as he likes people to call him is shown to be a mix bag of someone who takes his job seriously yet at the same time tries to have fun while at it. He describes it as "looking for the bright side of things." He's smug at times, especially when someone tries to divulge the seriousness of a situation to him he usually answers back with sarcasm or little interest. How he passed boot camp, or even became an ODST is beyond my comprehension. Based on previous reports from his stationing at Jericho VII he seems to have a grudge against Spartans and seems to dislike working in any relation with them. This kind of behavior follows in with his refusals to execute suspected rebels, and to interrogate civilians suspected of being rebel sympathizers, which for whatever his reasons may be showcase a serious problem with authority. However, an explanation I can give to this is his strayed relation with his father, who died during battle, a great commander but in Julian's eyes a bad father. Julian's inability to make amends with his father seems to be a factor in his careless antics, his mother and sister seem to be the only people he at the very least can listen with seriousness. Further research is required.
I will note that he is a dedicated soldier who despite time has remained loyal to humanity during these years of war against the covenant. And he always takes his role serious while in the field.
BIOGRAPHY:
Born on Earth to a military father of Irish descent, and a Mexican mother Julian was a privilege child, growing to study in prominent schools that taught him skills in tech, mathematics, and astronomy. His father, Admiral Lewis Hauser wanted Julian to be well educated and enter the UNSC naval academy, much to Julian's mother's refusal. Julian proved to be quite enthusiastic about the stars, his father was hopeful his son would follow in his footsteps. However, despite his likeness for learning about the stars, Julian was always more of an adventurer. The records show several incidents in which he would ditch class in order to explore the outdoors, almost getting bit by a rattlesnake. Admiral Hauser was rather displeased but was hopeful he would come around. A few months before the war began however, he and his father had several disagreements over Julian's future. Based on interviews to Carmen and Linda Hauser, Julian did not want to go to the naval academy. During the discussion he yelled "I don't want to be like you!" to which the Admiral answered "Fine, then you'll be nothing." This left Julian emotionally scarred as this was the last time he and his father ever talked face to face.
This strain in their relation lasted way into Julian's adulthood, up until 2530. Admiral Lewis Hauser, commanded the UNSC defense of Eridanus II. The UNSC fleet was caught by surprise by a massive Covenant attack force, Hauser was in the middle of his last video talk with his family, it seemed as if Julian and him were about to make amends when the covenant attacked and the transmission was cut. Despite a heroic defense, and staying behind to cover the planet's evacuation efforts, Hauser died in his Halcyon-class light cruiser, The Endurance, taking out several covenant frigates and damaging a cruiser before being destroyed. Thanks to his heroic efforts the evacuation was able to be carried out, despite losses most evac ships left the system unscathed. The tragic loss and the fact he and his father never officially reconciled changed Julian's outlook on life forever.
After turning 19 Julian signed up for the UNSC marine core, despite the fear of his mother she and his sister supported his decision. Throughout boot camp Julian made his best to exceed in what he could. Showing skills in tactical operations, Close Quarter Combats, and an interest in cover ops. After passing bootcamp he was sent to ODST school where he quickly got the rank of Corporal and was assigned to the 25th Helljumper Brigade. At first, most of the tasks he was part of he assisted as an ammo bearer and they were mostly against insurgents within the inner colonies. This was rather annoying to Julian, since as a Rookie he was seen as not trust worthy by his squad. This supported by his sarcastic remarks and very nonchalant attitude which made his superiors punish him on a regular basis. He proved his worth in the battle of Kepler 21, where he was able to lead his squad after their lieutenant was killed and their sergeant knocked out within Covenant lines to eliminate a Brute Chieftan and de-stabilize the Covenant forces to allow the UNSC forces to regroup and retreat. He was promoted to Sergeant after the battle. Julian continued his service as sergeant of his squad, doing much of the work for their lieutenant up until the Battle of Jericho VII where he served with distinction despite his nonsensical antics.
Julian continued his service through various operations in the ODST brigade up. A noteworthy incident happened during the last days of the insurrection in Mamore where he refused orders from an UNSC major to execute suspected rebels who he was convinced were just farmers. Thanks to intervention from the unit's lieutenant further confrontation was avoided, however this was only one of the many problems with authority that Julian or "J" as he liked to be called would have. He was notably distrustful of Spartans, showing signs of not liking them very much. The reasons for this are not known but like many ODST's it can be assumed there was a level of competitiveness between the branches. After several more operations and battles which saw Julian becoming more and more hardened he and his brigade were deployed to Reach in 2551 for a classified operation. After some time assisting in counter insurrection ops, Julian and his squad participated in the battle of Reach. Mark Reyes, the squad Lieutenant, was killed by a Jackal sniper and Julian took command of the squad. The brigade's numbers dwindle as the battle raged on, with Julian becoming more disheartened and resentful over the Spartan's seeming inability to "Save the day" as they were always painted to be indestructible super soldiers, yet Julian would see Spartan after Spartan die, and ODST after ODST die as well, the same with Marines.
In the last desperate days of Reach, the Brigade helped in the defense of the evacuation sites, and later the site of disembarkation of The Pillar of Autumn where most UNSC forces had gathered. In the last desperate hours, most of the brigade got wiped out as marines, and other UNSC personnel began to embark into the ship. Julian lost several of his squad during the fighting to hold back the Elite and Brute attacks. He finally made it to the closing shuttles in time before departure. His face dripping with sweat as the ship departed Reach to somewhere unknown. Now they have arrived to an unknown location, where the sly lieutenant expects his next mission, whatever it may be.
