Context
In the year one hundred and ninety-six after the conquest the legitimate heir to the throne Daemon Blackfyre raised his banner in revolt against the tyranny of his half-brother, named King Daeron Targaryen the Second of His Name. Though chivalrous Daemon was slain by the sorcery of Brynden Waters, his cause did not die with him. Succeeded by his young sons, Daemon Blackfyre would not see his loyal supporters forced into exile, establishing their court in the Free City of Tyrosh. There Aegor Rivers, named Bittersteel, administered the cause of his half-brother's children for almost forty-three years before his death in battle against the forces of the Free City of Myr. For some the death of Aegor would have spelled the end of the Blackfyre cause, for three failed attempts at securing Westeros from the spawn of Daeron had ended in failure.

Indeed for seventeen years the Blackfyre exiles, amassed in the famous Golden Company established by the Bittersteel, have offered the Iron Throne no cause for concern as they contract out their swords to the squabbling Free Cities. No concern, until talks of kinslaying spread out from the merchants of the east. Maelys Blackfyre, a powerful figure who consumed his twin while still in the womb, tore the head off of his cousin Daemon in a duel. Now in command of his family's army,
Maelys was swift to reignite the fires of the cause, bringing together eight fellow exiles and warlords for the discussion of mutual cooperation. With a charisma and presence of mind few would associate with his grotesque figure, Maelys bound the disparage leaders into an alliance sealed with blood and oaths of loyalty.

At first the Targaryens did not fear this warrior king and his allies, assuming them to be nothing more than desperate pirates who would be brought low by the forces of the Free Cities. Indeed, the term Ninepenny Kings came to be associated with them after a joke uttered by Prince Duncan Targaryen dismissing the claims to royalty as being worthless. And for their hubris, the Targaryens were forced to watch as first the Disputed Lands and then Tyrosh fell to the warlords. Shortly thereafter the Stepstones, long the den of pirates and slavers, fell to the unstoppable might of Maelys and his allies.

King Jaehaerys Targaryen, having ascended to the throne after the Tragedy of Summerhall, set about to right the wrongs of the previous court. Gathering together a great army from his vassals, the Targaryen king intended to take the war to the Blackfyres personally. A weak and sickly king, Jaehaerys was convinced to let his Hand command the army instead, a decision that would come to have its benefits. Benefits that would not be reaped by the Targaryens.

The war in the Stepstones lasted close to a year. Lord Baratheon, Hand of the King, was one of the first to die, the leadership of the army passing to the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Though the Targaryens would see several victories, especially after the ferocious Lord Reyne assumed command of the Westerland complement, it would not be enough. The will of Maelys could not be contained, and in the climactic battle on Bloodstone the Targaryens were decimated. Though some survivors would trickle back to the Seven Kingdoms, the war was a complete disaster for the False Dragons.

With no one else standing in his way, and with fresh supporters flocking to his side with dreams of riches and lordships, Maelys and his fellow Ninepenny Kings set out to take the fight to Westerosi soil.
Scenario
King Daemon Blackfyre the First of His Name, and the last male descendant of the Black Dragon, has landed on the coast of Westeros, fresh from the victory over the Targaryen forces sent to put him down. Riders and ravens both have been dispatched to the various castles and holdfasts of the noble families of the Seven Kingdoms, calling upon the lords to rise up for their returned king.

Now the future of the Iron Throne, and the two families that claim ownership of it, will be decided. Will the red dragon, hobbled by a weak king and without an army, finally succumb to the black, led by a twisted monster and supported more by foreigners than Westerosi?
Important Characters
The Warlords Nine:
Better known by their epithets than the names of their birth, these warlords have unified under the de facto leadership of Maelys Blackfyre in order to carve out their own kingdoms.
- The Old Mother: a pirate queen
- The Last Valyrian: a lysene pirate king
- The Ebon Prince: a royal from the Summer Isles and captain of a sellsword company, the Winged Lances
- The Lord of Battles: a famed captain of a sellsword company, the Iron Shields
- The Butcher: a Westerosi exile and captain of a sellsword company, the Company of Thorns
- The Bad Apple: a Westerosi exile and captain of a sellsword company, the Steel Legs
- Nine Eyes: captain of a sellsword company, the Jolly Fellows
- Silver Tongue: Tyrant of Tyrosh
- The Monstrous: rightful King of the Seven Kingdoms and captain-general of the Golden Company

Targaryen Princes
Considered by most to be the rightful rulers of the Seven Kingdoms, the Targaryens are nevertheless viewed with anger by their historic abuses of power.
- Jaehaerys the Second of His Name: a weak and sickly man, he has since become dangerously ill with the news of Maelys' arrival
- Rhaegar Targaryen: a baby and the last hope of the Targaryen family should Jaehaerys die
Strength of the Regions
The flower of Westerland chivalry died on the shores and in the forests of the Stepstones. Though the losses of the other regions paled in comparison, they also suffered the deaths of House Targaryen's most devoted supporters, leaving many undecided or wavering lords to take up the mantle of leadership.

Well this seems nice and interesting, although I do believe the bit on the scenario says Daeron when it should say Maelys.

Aerys would be dead, but everyone else would be up to the death layer

The part literally just below where it says 'scenario'.
