(Damjan is the one at the bottom of the picture)

Occupation: Slovenian Expatriate Soldier and Partisan

Biography:
Born in Kamnik, Yugoslavia, he came out of a small family and joined the army in 1936 at age 17. However, the WWII came and swept many of his chances of success away, with his family being killed by German soldiers and him being separated from his unit early in the war, causing him to move into partisan activity. But even then he was without luck, with most of the group he joined with dying due to them not being loyal to the other bands of partisans roaming the country as well as being executed by the Germans. He survived till the end of the war with his coat, field cap, and whatever belongings he had on him and made his way to the country of opportunity, the United States. He was originally stuck in Switzerland in hiding due to a warrant for his arrest being made in Austria, and he had to wait years to make enough money to get to the US, but he got there nonetheless.
After his arrival he spent a few years on the East Coast, learning a good amount of English and gaining some money in the process, but he never made major success due to people like him not being overly accepted. So he began to move from place to place, getting by from whatever jobs he could find. Through it all he kept his old uniform, except he had many of the badges and patches removed to detract attention and he wears it often due to it being the last major thing he has from his homeland. Now 37, he is on a train, which he managed to get in by paying what money he had to a man who made him a way into the train by posing as an investor. Wherever it is going, he will do whatever he can do there to make a living.

Personality: He tends to be gloomy, but somewhat optimistic. He is reserved and silent, reading books he has acquired from wherever he could get them and staying to himself most of the time.

Likes: Quite, The Countryside and Mountains

Dislikes: Aggressive people, those who disturb his privacy

Any Misc Facts: He is currently wearing his coat and field cap, which stands out amongst most people. He also keeps a knife with him incase of emergency’s and because it is a helpful tool.

Occupation on the train: N/A

Can you add a part to your biography? There needs to be something about being a loyal investor to the company. Or you fooled someone into thinking that you were a loyal investor. Other than that, Accepted.

Also, join the discord.

Err that really depends. If you do, I'd prefer it if you had one that had an occupation on the train. (see: OP) I'd allow 2, though.

Hmm.. How about a musician who is basically paid to play the piano for the passengers in one of the cars? Sorta seems like an interesting occupation for someone working on the train.

(Unless, it's deemed too inappropriate, of course)

Edit: Hmm, Now that I re-read the intro, let's see if I can work a story together.

NS Name: Cainesland

IC Name: Gander Meadowlark
Gender: Male
Picture: He looks like lt. Col Arthur Peuchen in the picture on website "encyclopedia-titanica.org"
Image
Age: 66| Birthdate is July 4 1890
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 130 lbs
Occupation:
Biography: (At least 2-3 paragraphs.)
Born July 4 1890, he was born to 2 parents from a British background who were loyalists. He grew up on the coast of the Saint Lawrence where his parents had been granted 200 acres of untamed land for their own use. Forested land wasn't particularly valuable to them, as you couldn't farm on it. Although clearing it was hard and costly, so he found that they came up with an alternative solution. They cut down only enough logs that they needed to build a hunting lodge and get down to the river. After that they didn't bother. They sold the logs to Calvin. Calvin was a businessman who governed over garden island which resided near them.

Growing up he often was found scampering about the forests and skipping stones. The logging enterprise went better then expected and they decided to try their luck elsewhere. His father a ship captain by profession had recently retired with a healthy pension. Therefore, leasing out their hunting lodge without the land, they all moved to the Yukon in 1894. The journey was long and harsh. They took the railway the first leg of the journey however. But the winter was miserable. Living in those conditions, Gander learned to count his blessings and never complain. "Things could be worse" he was continuously reminded. Fortunately they had his fathers pension bringing in income to feed them. After a year they noticed a massive stream of settlers putting in, looking for the same thing as they were. Gold. A town poked up nearby and Ganders father told Gander to go find work. Gander, only 4 years of age, was obliged to obey and went into town. He found work serving beverages to a band of unruly lower class Americans. After a year his father negotiated for another claim, and on this claim (which was their forth) they struck a deep vein of gold. Tens of thousands of dollars worth of gold or more. Suddenly "friends" came out of the woodwork and his father had to fight to keep them away. He hired bodyguards and told Gander he could no longer work at the bar as his life was in danger. It wasn't long after they had established a mining company, Meadowlark Enterprises, to mine the gold for them. They despised the townsfolk however, who had picked on them for their poor luck in gold. They decided to search elsewhere for employees and the town dried up with the gold. They found honest workers in the lumber mills of British Columbia. They offered higher wages and better working conditions and the workers flowed forth like oil from a well. By 1900 the mine was still producing gold at a pleasurable rate and the meadowlarks couldn't be more pleased. They bought lots of shares in the railway companies and were pleased when they skyrocketed with the influx of immigrants out west. They sold off their shares and moved down to Montreal, a small island neighbourhood known as Westmount. It was the wealthiest neighbourhood in Canada.

They soon heard about this new invention called electricity. It was said to bring light when things were dark. They decided to check it out. They realized that it was the future and invested in Henry Pelletts venture, the electrical development company, for their plan to found the Niagra falls hydro electric dam. Going into the 6th grade his father sent him to study at the prestigious upper canada college until the twelve grade. In the meantime his father went on to invest in oil companies, and land speculations in the west, and forest lands in British Columbia.

At school Gander had a hard time catching up as he'd been homeschooled for most of his upbringing, albeit after the gold strike he had tutors. When he left the school he was in many aspects the same person as before. Courteous, patient, unassuming. But in other ways changed. He now knew a lot more about the core subjects, English, math and financial math, science, history of the world, the place of the English in the world. When he came in his handwriting needed work. Leaving, he found that he was well equipped. He left school in 1908 and decided to spend a month in Europe to celebrate the achievement. He decided that St. Petersburg, Berlin and London were swell city choices to visit. His father approved as well as it would give his son experience in the international marketplace. He started his trip on a luxury liner traveling to Berlin. Once there he traveled by carriage and poked his head through various museums and stock markets. In each city he went to he picked up a few novels and shipped them home to Westmount. Books like Primitive society by Robert Lowie for example. He then traveled to St.Petersburg in hopes of spotting the Tzar. The closest he came was nothing at all. Being a commoner in comparison he hadn't a shot at spotting his imperial highness. Therefore he went back to London. He stopped in Paris for the night and continued to London where he visited museums and universities. He hoped to see the royal family but to no avail. He boarded a boat home and returned without trouble.

When he returned home he joined the yacht club and the military. He took his post secondary education at the royal Canadian military college and majored in history. As he studied, he frequently did extra work in the spring and summer in order to learn more and speed up his studies. This resulted in an early graduation in the fall of 1912.

He went back to Europe in the winter of 1912 to celebrate his successful completion of his studies. At this point having 16 years of education on him. On April 14 1912 he boarded the Titanic on a voyage to New York. In New York he hoped to travel to Toronto. On board the titanic he was in a first class suite. He found the boat very luxurious. Running water, electricity and all modern amenities being available, including elevators, made it very nice. He hopped off the ship in queens town where he proceeded to have a drink and investigate the shipyards. In Ireland he met with some wealthy contacts he was told (in writing) to speak to by other first class passengers. From there he bought up diamond mines in Africa.

He was shocked to learn of the sinking of the Titanic, but was glad to avoid being aboard it when it sunk. At this time he was 22 and on his own. His father no longer supported him as he had up until the end of college. But that didn't mean he didn't have quite a bit of savings.

He decided that he would travel to the city of Toronto where he had his first home to himself. A summer home gifted to him from his father as a family estate for him to be in during the summer away from boarding school and for his dad when business called. These days his family had much nicer accommodations so he got to keep the 20 acres directly outside the city limits and the hunting lodge with all it's amenities. He had to think of something before his savings dried up. A number of industries had been popping up recently. Foremost being the car and oil industries. He decided with great thought that the future lay in oil. Cars, he concluded, were much too dangerous and expensive, and above all else represented a hazard to horses. Thinking little of the electric horseless carriages, he purchased a ticket to ride on a railroad down to Texas. He joined up with a Texan dreamer in a bar who had lots of experience working on an oil farm but lacked capital. Gander purchased the mineral rights and surface rights on a piece of land that had been scoped out and prepared for drilling. They struck oil. After getting it refined, the Gander meadowlark name became a household name across North America. With the money from the oil he decided to found a corporation and create daughter companies. Gander Industries was born, including Gander Oil, and Gander Mining Incorporated, as subsidiaries. He speculated that land would boom so he decided to set up an IPO on Gander oil. He made a killing off the IPO. Noticing increased turmoil in Europe over the Austria-Hungarian empires uprisings, Gander set up an arms production company. He sold elephant guns and top of the line equipment for any gentleman that wished to go to Africa. His company didn't go so well. But in 1914 his fortunes rose. The United States government purchased large supplies of arms from him. He made a lot of money. Until mid war. The Canadian government had deemed that because his metal mines and gun manufacturing facilities were located in Canada, they could be nationalized. The government began to produce the same goods without payment to Gander. Just like that, Gander mining incorporated lost its North American facilities. With tons of farmers having been killed or away in war, land values plummeted. Gander took this opportunity to buy up as much land as he could get his hands on. Beyond North America he used some of his own money to buy up 500 hectares of prime hunting land in British Africa, and 500 hectares in the Indian subcontinent for use as a Tiger preserve. It was to be privately funded by himself. After all that he began to run low on money. He had mortgaged property to the Homebank to pay for investments and prayed they'd work out.

In 1916 Gander left his businesses in the capable hands of his corporate board of directors. He volunteered to go fight for queen and country. It seemed thrilling in the advertisements but upon arrival he realized it was ridiculous. He bunked in the officers dug in and that made this better. In the trenches he learned how to sing and whistle. He also learned that his officers were nuts. His stay lasted until 1918 when the war effort was wounded by the peace.

He returned home, bewildered. But his businesses had performed well. He was now a wealthy man by any standard. He found that Toronto had expanded around his property and now a 20 acre piece of unused forested and prairie land was left looking out of place. However he didn't develop it. It was the perfect spot to keep his horses for the commute downtown. He was there first, the cars would need to change. Not him. Of course cars got more popular, not less. Horses on the hand, disappeared save for him. He estimated that fur would be the commodity of the future. On the massive amounts of land he purchased during the Great War he planted forests. He hoped to develop sustainable fur industries. Others killed beaver without regard for the future, he didn't want to be one of those people. All over the British empire he had conservation programs set up. They were draining him but as long as the economy kept up so would he. In 1920 the economy skyrocketed into the roaring 20's and he took off as well. He decided to try his luck in public life. By this time he owned numerous tracts of land divided into 2 companies known as Meadowlark Conservation and Meadowlark Land, a railway company that transported people west, a mining corporation named Gander Mining, an arms manufacturing company named Gander Arms, and an Oil company named Gander Oil. He was doing well.

With his time free with others running the companies on his behalf, he decided to enter public life. He hosted numerous parties and attended even more, around the world. Skilled in musical instruments like the harpsichord and accordion, he decided to found an orchestra. The Meadowlark orchestra. He hired good musicians, up and coming composers, and others and set off. Apparently he was good because people flocked to the venues he was at and danced when the orchestra played. He landed a record deal and shortly after retired from touring while his orchestra went on to create hits. He succeeded that by staring in a film.

He was a much desired guest. Filled with stories of war, business, and the world. After staring in the film however he faded from the spotlight. He became a big game hunter for the thrill, going around the world hunting the biggest and fiercest beasts. This lasted for 8 years until 1930. The Great Depression stung his enterprises hard. No one could afford diamonds, or oil, or guns. The only things that seemed to do alright were the railroads and his farmlands. But even then the railways were on the brink of floundering, and his farmlands were vastly spread apart. A couple big sections in North America, Europe, India, Africa, and South America. To make matters worse, his bank went bankrupt. His luck turned upside down. If it wasn't for diversifying his portfolio of assets, he'd be a pauper like most of North America. He continued to live rather well, compared to most, on the money from his lands and other property but nothing like he had before. In fact most of his income drained into maintenance fees. He was stretched to keep his land empire from cracking from taxes and maintenance costs. That's when he heard of a treasure hunt in South America.

In August of 1931 Gander started his journey with a new group of adventurers. He spent months traveling down to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. He spent the year exploring the jungle, engaging with the wildlife, environment, and natives. In August of 1932 he returned with news of a discovery in the form of a new river, undiscovered tribes, and ruins in the jungle. His story, and that of the other explorers and the expeditions financier, was published in newspapers around the world.

Riding the fame, and seeing the rising hardships causing others in the united states, he decided to run for the Senate as a resident of the state of New York. He was elected. He would spend the next 6 years in various positions and roles. He had the distinction of being the only representative to travel by Horse, and by self financing his campaign enjoyed not being beholden to large donors. He made sure to receive reports from his companies regarding their status. Gander Oil was doing alright, albeit struggling under low oil prices. Gander Mining and Gander Arms were no longer submitting reports to him after being Nationalized and merged into the governments assets. Meadowlark Conservation was doing well and helping to keep endangered species around for another day, while also helping to promote Trophy hunting to fund the operations of the company and the governments conservation efforts. Meadowlark Land was probably doing the best, with land all over the world and hungry people all over the world that needed to be fed with his crops. Finally the Meadowlark Orchestra was doing well as well and were selling records and touring fairly often. When the Senate recessed in the summers he sought to make some changes. With low oil prices and low land prices, he had Meadowlark Land buy large amounts of land in the United states oil fields. Most were located in Texas. He left the Orchestra be, it was entertaining people and doing well. The increased supply of oil helped Meadowlark Oil better maneuver around competitors and buy them up as the depression carried on. One bad investment was trying to get into the Athabasca Oil sands in 1938 when a fire destroyed the investment equipment. In 1938 his term was coming to an end and, deciding not to run again, he retired from the senate. He decided to try and refound Gander arms in the spirit of hunting once more. He purchased a factory in Maine and California that produced hunting rifles and a few stores in the New York, Ontario, Montana, and Oregon. He traveled to India where he would live in his Tiger Preserve, and joined the local British military unit as a reservist officer. In India he discovered that hunting was also continuing to be a big thing there and, in early 1939, purchased a factory and a few stores in India.

In 1939 war was declared. He left his Tiger Preserve to once more fight for Queen and Country. This time he fought beside Indian troops and British Officers, instead of Canadians and Americans and the British mostly. Starting off he was transferred with his unit to a training ground, and in 1940 he was taken up to Eastern Africa to fight the Italians. After the conclusion of fighting in Eastern Africa he was transferred with his unit up to Northern Africa to fight Rommel. Meadowlark would go on to fight for the liberation of France, Netherlands, and Germany after surviving North Africa. Meadowlark had a month off before returning to India with what remained of his unit. In 1945, at the age of 55, Meadowlark received great news. His companies had been restored by the war effort. With the increased need for Oil, Gander Oil had done very well and the investment in new lands had paid off; Gander Arms had expanded to supply arms to the British and American Governments to use int he war effort; Meadowlark Lands had successfully expanded to provide food to the worlds armies and the mobilized masses; and The railway company expanded its infrastructure and helped provide transportation for the goods and people heading east as well as west during the war effort. With pressure mounting for independence, he ran as an independent and in December of 1945 was elected to the Imperial Legislative Council of India. Once more while many representatives had cars, he maintained his Horses with land near the city.

In 1948, Gander Enterprises took full advantage of the Marshall plan. They helped with rebuilding Britain, France, and Germany. Gander bought much more land in Europe as well following the end of the war. In 1949 his term ended and decided against running again. He moved to England where he bought an estate in the country. Here he lived for a year. In 1950 the Korean war started. Gander approached the American Embassy and joined the war effort. He stayed in Korea for 3 years until the end of the war. In 1953 he moved back to his English Estate. In 1953 he heard of a new Railway company that was up and coming and sent word to buy shares in the company to help support it. In 1954 his wife started getting ill and in 1955 his wife passed away from Cancer. In 1956 he received word from the Railway company that he was being invited for the inaugural voyage of their luxury trains first trip west.

Personality: Gander is a very cheerful and amiable person. He doesn't like when others are fighting or sad, and will do anything in his power to make others happy. He is very protective of his friends and loved ones. He is rather optimistic, and always tries to keep a smile on his face. Which isn't to say he can't get irritated, it just can take a lot to push him over the edge, situation depending.

Traits, quirks, habits: He likes to sing. He likes to count. He likes to joke and tell stories, of certain things. He likes to make fun of the predicaments that surround them , but not complain about them. He also enjoys playing around with the English language and making verbal comparisons to emphasize points and emotions.

Likes: Land, bowling, harpsichord music, chess, honesty, money, love, billiards, hunting, reading, yachts and luxury liners, British empire, Canada, zepplins, Lockheed l-10 electras, war, industry, gold and silver, paintings, exploration.

Dislikes:
Americans
- He considers their lower classes unruly and rude. But respects their middle and upper class which he sees as hardworking and well mannered respectfully),

Dishonest politicians
- He sees anyone whom can be bought for anything (especially something as cheap as money) is undeserving of his respect

Corruption
- Goes with the explanation for dishonest politicians.

Nationalization
- A few of his business's were nationalized, and that nearly bankrupted him.

Greed and cheapness (note: no problem against frugality)
- He believes there's only so much one man needs and everything else is extra and is there to play around with. He thinks everyone should give to charity or tithe as god is your partner, and if you stop giving your partner his dues your partner will stop helping you.

Henry Ford
- He blames him for making cars so accessible, the city roads are no longer safe for his horses).

NS Name: Talchyon

IC Name: Peter Gentry
Gender: Male
Picture: Image
Occupation: Gambler

Biography: Born in 1927, Peter Gentry grew up in Boston during the Great Depression and WWII era. His father was a factory foreman. His mother stayed home and raised the children. Raised poor, Peter began to associate at a local tavern where some of the best cardsharks in Boston met. Watching them, and then playing, some took pity on the poor young man and taught him how to play cards. Taking him on as an apprentice when they found that Peter had a gift for it, they taught him all the tricks of the trade. Among his tutelage was how to notice 'tells', when to raise bets, always to have a way out in case the situation gets ugly. Additionally, the gamblers taught him charm, social graces and how to enjoy a good stiff drink.

For the last several years, Peter had been doing quite well - well enough to take a small side investment in the NANR company. It was more of an investment as a whim, and then also as a small wager with a friend. The bet was that NANR would succeed and be thriving in five years. The wager was a thousand dollars. Not having much else in his attention at the time, Peter took the bet and therefore invested in the company. However, since then, he's had a tough run of luck at the card tables. He lost a sizeable amount to a few shady characters tied into the Irish mafia, and had to give them his marker that he would pay them back - with interest. He has been dodging some of the known associates of the gang members he gave his marker to, and trying to earn back enough to pay them off. It just hasn't happened yet.

When the invite came to take the luxury train ride, Peter saw it as a chance to blow the town and get out from what was beginning to be an uncomfortable situation. A friend took him to New York, where they stayed in a cheap hostel, and boarded the train the next day. Little did he know that spies from the Irish mob had been tracking him, and that they know his exact location. Some informants may even be on the train.

Personality: A calculated risk taker. Is not averse to taking a chance, as long as there is an opportunity for a reward. Observant in games (has to be to notice competitor's 'tells'.) Sometimes observant outside of games, too. Flippant in some ways. Tends to rub authority figures the wrong way.

Likes: A good scotch (but knows his limits.) Taking a competitor for all he's worth at the table. Strong coffee in the morning and a good breakfast. Luxury.
Dislikes: Losing. Being in someone's debt. People who think they are important. People who try to take revenge. Thieves.
Any Misc Facts: Peter Gentry has a soft spot for orphans, likes jazz, and strongly dislikes the new music like Elvis Presley, the Teenagers, and the rest.

Occupation on the train: Resident

The Clockwork Circus - Welcome to a steampunk RP rife with crime, gangs, beggars, and starting off as the lowest of the low, in the lowest socio-economic place there is.

How does this look? I'll find a picture if you want me too.

NS Name: Pax Nerdvana

IC Name: Sam Walker
Gender: Male
Picture:
Occupation: Journalist
Biography:
Sam Walker was born on a North Texas ranch in the year 1922, at the beginning of the Roarin' Twenties. The people in the East wanted beef, so they had good business. He was taught how to hunt and fish at an early age. Than the Great Depression hit. The dust storms forced them to move elsewhere. They ended up on a small farm in Pennsylvania. They rode out the Great Depression fairly well, because they grew their own food.

On December 7th, 1941, everything changed. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Sam was old enough, so he joined the Army to fight the Axis. He wasn't sent into combat until D-Day. Until late 1943, he was training in the States. He fought in numerous major battles of the war, eventually becoming a sergeant.

When he returned Stateside at the end of the war, he used his G.I. benefits to go to college. He was interested in photography and writing, so he became a journalist with The New York Times. A lot of his reporting was on transportation.
Personality: light hearted, jokey, possibly a little crazy
Likes: traveling, the outdoors, and reading.
Dislikes: inactivity, government officials, cramped spaces, really rich people
Any Misc Facts: ex-US Army

Occupation on the train:
Resident/reporter/journalist

Rooming with: N/A

Willingness to have a secret?: Perfectly willing.

Past RP’s: Family

IC Name: Jonathan Clark
Gender: M
Picture: Image
Occupation: 1st Lieu, USAF
Biography: Jon was born to a wealthy family with a long history of military service. Growing up in the midst of the second world war, as a child, he longed for the glory of the military. His father was a Naval captain during the war, and his uncle a colonel in the Marine Corp. Most of all, he looked up to his older brother, who was a pilot in the Army Air Corps and downed a dozen enemy planes during the war. Not being old enough to enlist during the war, he was made to study at a private school while the war waged on. To his disappointment, the war ended before his graduation, and instead he took several years off to travel the world. After returning home, he joined the USAF not long after its establishment in 1951, and saw action flying the new F-86 during the Korean conflict. He rose through the ranks quickly, partially due to his flamboyant personality, and partially through his family influence. Post war, the lack of action was not enough to keep Jon content, and he often took time off to travel and seek adventure. In his spare time, he has picked up activities such as hunting, skydiving, mountain climbing, diving, racing, and sailing, and anything else that gives him a thrill. However, despite his family's attempts to convince him to settle down, he continues to seek an adventurous lifestyle, and rumor has it that he has had numerous flings and affairs.

Personality: Very confident, flamboyant, almost cocky, fun loving and adventure seeking
Likes: adventure, women, travel, new experiences
Dislikes: the mundane
Any Misc Facts: family has a large share of the train's stock

Occupation on the train: resident

Rooming with: Undecided (preferably a stunning, unmarried young woman ;) )
