Kazu Nestio wrote:indonesia could be fun to play. The big man of ASEAN, however i do have some questions:

- Do i need to be in discord for indonesia?
- How much power do i hold in regard of ASEAN
- What are the benefits on allying with The US or maybe China
- also do i need to ignore former indo's history since technically he didnt make an ic post yet ( i think)

Although there are no nations in ASEAN at the moment, you'd still have to make deals with the IEs playing as them, so being able to engage with foreign powers on Discord is pretty important for that. Indonesia holds a lot of swinging power in ASEAN, but they're in no way a puppetmaster or anything of the sort. There are a bunch of benefits for both, but in my opinion Indonesia works best when sitting at the US-Sino-Indian tri-point by working with each. You don't need to look at their history since they didn't post.

We don't really need any persay, but here's a few that we'd certainly like to have

  • Any of the Turkish factions, Akar rebels, Erdogan government, PKK; Lots of fun war mechanics and gets you right into the action, plus very easy to slide out of
  • Brazil; The big boi of South America, Mexico wants a friend in Latin America anyways, lots of opportunities to influence the states around you and maybe form your own Latin Bloc if you're so inclined, I'd scrap the Rio Pact pretty early out of the gates if you do this though, alliance is rife with corruption. Also Argentine and you aren't very bueno so watch out.
  • Japan; A US-influenced bubble surrounded by big boy China, lots of opportunities and directions to work towards with it, though their debt is awful so you're probably gonna have to deal with an inevitable default
  • Germany; Linchpin of the EU my dude, slowly moving to federalize with France and the Benelux, agreement is already signed for around a (10?) year timescale so it's mostly fending off Russian interests and trying to make the EU glorious, I used to play Germany and it was quite fun
  • Vietnam; Stuck between China and India, both trying to coerce you with treats and gifts... China's gifts more being angry shouting, but you get the idea.
  • Saudi Arabia; Have your own glorious Middle Eastern Cold War with Iran, I'd probably be this if I wasn't China and if Germany was off the table
  • Poland; Another EU nation but not as linch-piny. This one's basically required to have a Discord though, just like Germany, since foreign affairs are a huge chunk of their content, more specifically EU affairs.
  • Ethiopia; Yelling at Egypt, damming up part of the Nile, and trying to make friends in Africa and Asia.
  • Indonesia; The Brazil of SEA, just replace the US screeching into your neighborhood with China and it's basically the same thing.

You know what...screw Venezuela...Can I be the Erdogan regime?

Is it possible he would've proclaimed himself Sultan during this time? Maybe even Caliph, that way he could declare Jihad and summon Islamic loyalists to his cause, no?

He probably just calls himself President, he's still trying to stick to the facade of democracy. Though at this point he's more akin to Assad than Osman.

Extra military information - The Italian military budget was increased to 2% of its GDP by the 2025 Italian Budget Plan, making it one of the largest budgets in Europe and the world - a byproduct by the militaristic attitude of the increasingly nationalist and right-wing government of Italy, especially in response to the TCW.

Also, a dozen military academies have been established throughout the country to educate Italian military personnel with greater military discipline. The new style of Italian military discipline and etiquette has been named Prussistile, an Italian-language portmanteau meaning “Prussian style”, as it reflects the very disciplinarian and professional virtues promoted by the Prussian Army.

2018 - ITALIAN GENERAL ELECTION
The Italian general election of 2018 played out somewhat similarly to the IRL one. The electoral results were the same, the coalitions and parties involved were the same, and the subsequent hung parliament were all the same. Political controversy built up day after day, and the Lega Nord, the dominant party, tried its best to form a government. Following a forty-three day parliamentary stalemate, a nominee was chosen amongst the centre-right coalition - Giuseppe Conte. However, Conte did not accept the nomination for personal reasons. Another fourteen day stalemate occurred before Mister Conte and the Lega’s Federal Secretary Matteo Salvini chose a bright, young, Sicilian ex-lawyer and MP from the 24th Constituency. This was Antonio Severino, and he accepted the nomination proudly.

Antonio’s nomination was announced the next day and he was appointed as Prime Minister on the 1st of June, 2018. He made himself known as a cutthroat reformist and Hard Eurosceptic by the end of the year, having reorganized the Council of Ministers; passed a government budget that reappropriated over a billion euros to strict anti-corruption operations; and began thinning relations with the European Union. His populist and domestic-oriented politics were well-received, as the Italian people finally felt as if they had someone listening to them - by mid-2019 he had an approval rating of 74%. Near the end of 2019, he wrote the Manifesto Ideologico del Primo Ministro, which was a description of the general ideologies and views of him and his premiership. He began building a political movement around this Manifesto, and he had gained enough adherents within Parliament that beginning in May he began negotiations from members of the Lega Nord, FdI, and Forza Italia to merge into a political alliance, called the Coalizione per Riparare la Nostra Italia. After nine days of inter-party negotiations several dozen members joined the alliance, with the Forza Italia - Antonio’s original party - having a supermajority in it (86%).

Over time, this alliance strengthened in terms of popularity and its political influence. In 2020, an official hierarchy was established within the alliance, which members would hold alongside their official party positions. Antonio, Salvini, and three other upper-level politicians from the CRNI’s member-parties were made Chairmen of the CRNI; their deputies and officers from their own parties took up the CRNI’s deputy and secretarial roles; and the base-level parliamentarians became known simply as Coalitioners. In 2021, the Manifesto de Coalizione - considered the spiritual successor to the Manifesto Ideologico del Primo Ministro, was written and created a codified platform for the CRNI - transcending the individual platforms of its member-parties. The move was somewhat controversial, but was not enough to warrant a political scandal or even judicial review, and soon it became clear the inner circle of the CRNI was attempting to establish its own party. In the 2023 general election, the Executive Committee of the CRNI (MPs Severino, Salvini, Capuano, Consola, Lo Duca, and Gilano) passed the Three-Way Merger Agreement, and all the members of the CRNI’s member-parties were integrated into the same party.

Other parties, namely the Partito Democratico and the remainder of the Lega, responded brashly - since they suddenly became vastly smaller and - at minimum - were dozens of seats behind the CRNI. The Supreme Court of Cassation and the Constitutional Court reviewed the case, and both determined there was no constitutionally or strictly legal prohibition of such an act. So, following the 2023 General Election the CRNI became the majority and ruling party, leaving its opponents in the dust and with a wide margin. The Severino government was practically unopposed and enjoyed good popular support, and much of its legislation moved through Parliament quickly. Although, in order to salvage public and parliamentary tranquility, a general election was called in 2025 to see who the Italian people would vote for on their own free will, the CRNI “super-party”, or the opposition parties shouting unconstitutionality.

2025 - Or How I Learned To Stop Bending Over For The EU and Love Italy

Leading up to the 2025 General election, all the parties that had dropped so much in representation performed various actions in order to promote themselves. Such actions are outlined below, and had varying and arguable effects on each party’s electoral performance.

In May, the CRNI pushed for the federalization of Italy, siphoning voters from the federalist factions of the Lega Nord. On the day of the vote, Parliament voted in favor of it with a simple majority, 532-419, and opinion polls showed that a simple majority of the country approved of the federalist referendum, 52.6%-47.4%. The move to federalize the country was well-received in a majority of the EU and in the US. The CRNI also proceeded to make various upgrades to the Autostrade, connecting dozens of more Italian cities to the rest of the country and providing rapid travel for hundreds of thousands of Italian workers; and enacted urban renovation projects in several cities, employing tens of thousands and producing hundreds of millions in profit.

Various other laws and policies were enacted by other parties to improve their popularity so they'd win more seats on the 2025 general election. The Forza Italia promoted a budget proposal that would give Italy one of the largest military budgets in Europe as percent-of-GDP (2%). The Lega Nord passed a reformed Italian immigration policy, which effectively prohibited all immigration from Africa and the Middle East to Italy, heavily limited East and South Asian immigration, and promoted Western immigration over all other regions. This was in retaliation to the federalization, and it siphoned off the CRNI’s nationalist and Eurosceptic voters. Although, in order to prevent seeming like a far-right party, the Lega also passed legislation appropriating federal money to certain charities that would indirectly benefit migrants and IDPs.

The Movimento 5 Stelle promoted environmentalism and direct/electronic democracy by setting up nature walks in various Italian parks and promoted the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Sicily, Calabria, Sardinia, and other poor regions. They focused on regaining their presence in South Italy.

Following June, the CRNI began focusing on two goals: domestic development and the Turkish Civil War. Despite international controversy over its immigration policies, Italy upheld its new policies and rejected various refugee ships and even increased border security with France. In an even more controversial act, the Italian Agency of Revenue reconstructed the eight-per-thousand church tax to only benefit Christian institutions, dropping the Italian Buddhist Union, Italian Hindu Union, the Soka Gakkai Italian Buddhist Institute, and several Islamic organizations. In order to advert anti-semitic claims, the Union of Italian Jewish Communities was kept on the roster. Government-sponsored public works agencies, which were compared to the American Public Works Administration, were established in order to improve the Italian labor market and introduce thousands of experienced workers. Trade picked up between Italy and several Mediterranean countries following the successful Mediterranean trade conference, namely between the Arab League - disproving European cries that the Italian immigration policies would ruin Italo-Arab relations. The volume of trade increased 18%, or around three billion Euros.

Starting in October, an Italo-Egyptian joint task force was mobilized and sent to Antalya, Turkey to support rebel forces in the Turkish Civil War. It marked the beginning of foreign intervention in the Turkish Civil War, and of Italy’s urge to avenge the Ides of March attack in 2025. The joint task force helped push forward rebel boundaries in the Antalya Province and secure battered rebel supply lines in Southern Turkey. Concurrently, the fiscal boost to the Italian military and reform to discipline and doctrine allowed for the Italian Armed Forces to scourge itself of institutional dysfunction and corruption. Italian military performance in Turkey and at home was recorded to be at its best in nearly a decade.

Another heated period in Italian politics occurred in late-2025, with the death of Sergio Mattarella. Per Italian political procedure, the President of the Chamber of Deputies called for a special election which occurred thirteen days after the President’s death. Three nominees from the CRNI (Gregorio Corleone), Lega Nord (Luigi Di Maio), and the Partito Democratico (Matteo Renzi) were chosen. The special election occurred on December 21, 2025 and the CRNI nominee was elected by 68% of the electoral college. The election was a major victory for the party and the right-wing of Italy. Gregorio’s history of aligning with right-wing movements, his long-term membership in the Fratelli d’Italia prior to joining the CRNI in 2024, and support of controversial Italian Catholic priest Father Gustavo Salvo all painted him as a far-right individual by European media, but was protected and moderated by the Italian media. With the highest offices in the Republic dominated by the CRNI, the party began preparing for a major, long-term plan they had been working towards since 2022 for the approaching year.

2026 - Il Canto degli Italiani Blaring In The Background
The beginning of 2026 marked the first anniversary of the Ides of March attack, the remembrance of which became one of the most patriotic days in Italian history, other than Liberation Day, Republic Day, and the historic birth of King Victor Emmanuel II. Thousands of Italians stood in the Palazzo Naiadi, in front of a congregation of politicians and survivors for a vigil to the attack. New President Gregorio Corleone’s speech at the event promised vengeance for the lost souls, especially by continuing support of the Turkish rebels; to reform Italy into a greater country; and to build a memorial to the attack victims and survivors. The following months would mark intensifying tensions between Italy and the European Union, caused both by the Italian government and the increasingly nationalist and Eurosceptic citizenry. The first few expressions of this growing sentiment came with a bomb threat sent to the French Ambassador to Italy’s home; an almost-violent riot outside of the EU Delegation in Rome; and the Bandibruci, the burning of a large EU flag at the Colosseum during a nationalist rally. The Italian government did criticize these events, but didn’t place much attention on them and truly just overlooked them.

On Republic Day, 2026, Prime Minister Severino and Corleone announced together the Secondo Risorgimento, what was - according to the speech - going to be a, “a state-sponsored and propelled resurgence of Italian art, technology, culture, and overall prestige, a rebirth - as the word means - of the Republic from a corrupt joke into a perfectly functioning, respectable, country.” Response to the plan’s feasibility were mixed, but the response to it in general was overwhelmingly positive at it attracted long-lasting, foreign press coverage. The first stage of the project called the Segundo Risorgimento was a worldwide trip undertaken by Prime Minister Severino to establish, develop, and plan various projects and programs that would benefit Italy; promote Italy and Italian industries; strengthen relations; and more.

The beginning of that trip is where the history pages of Italy ends….and now accept me.
