Currency - Iraqi dinar (د.ع, IQD)
Currency and value of currency compared to USD 1 Iraqi Dinar equals 0.00090 USD
Major import/export partners - Top Five Export Partners: China, India, South Korea, the United States, Italy
Top Five Import Partners: China, UAE, South Korea, the United States, India

Major Domestic Issues - the Kurdish uprising, corruption, religious tensions, maintaining Iraqi democracy, women’s rights
Major Foreign Issues - Turkish Civil War, balancing Saudi and Iranian influence, balancing relationship with America and Russia.

History - Iraq, the cradle of civilization, has been unstable ever since the US invasion in 2003. This culminated in the rise of ISIL in the mid-2010s. It took five long years, but Daesh was finally defeated in 2019. In the Islamic State’s defeat, a new nation emerged: the Kurdish state. Iraq, having none of this “secession” business, ordered a new offensive. The Zab Offensive ended in stalemate, and Iraqi Kurdistan remained de facto independent. Opting to cease offensive operations, Iraq set about rebuilding the territories seized by ISIS.

Sweeping military reforms were put in place, mostly standardizing the mess that had become of the Armed Forces, but also- controversially- standardizing the politically-charged Popular Mobilization Forces as a semi-regular militia, a la the American National Guard. Economic programs were incentivized to drive the economy away from the production of crude oil, even if the programs did tend to incentivize the development of a petroleum refinery industry.

Now, with the economy growing and the GDP per capita steadily climbing, politics chose to rear its head. The 2022 election of the centrist Victory Alliance marked a shift in the atmosphere of politics of the country. The ideals of the Western-style democracy and of conventional Iraqi culture are hotly debated. While not particularly important on a global scale, the last two years of this parliament have the potential to shape the young democracy of Iraq for decades to come.

While not particularly important on a global scale, the last two years of this parliament have the potential to shape the young democracy of Iraq for decades to come.

holy shit thats a lot of military stuff

Expanding on the can't join it bit, Populist party in charge, can't afford further population flowing out and honestly OOCly I don't want to be the RP equivalent of a US state.

Okay so like my main issues in Russia have to be Islamic radicals in the Caucasus, and with the invasion if Kazakhstan it's more than likely going to cause more issues in the region, as well as some in the East. Besides that I can't really think of any other actual threat besides maybe people who want an actual democracy
