History - With the Civil War between the Kurdish Separatists and the Turkish Government lasting many years no progress could be made. As the war grew long and fearsome, so did the separatists. The Kurds increased in their separatist beliefs and pitted themselves into the bowels of extremism. With the war waging on families were torn apart, infrastructure damaged, and the economy sent into a crippling downward spiral. The citizens of Turkey looked to their government for some sort of answers but nothing was happening, nothing at all. Brothers and fathers came home in coffins and tears kept rolling down the faces of the ever-growing population of orphaned children. Unemployment rose, as conditions became hazardous in certain areas of the nation for business to thrive.
With all of this destruction, the citizens of Turkey looked to a new answer. The Nationalist Movement Party gained power and promised an end to the civil conflict as well as a massive rebuilding of the economy. The party had seen some success but thrived when Shafeeq Budak ran for the presidency. He promised to finally end the civil conflict, give back jobs, and make Turkey a local superpower. His followers speak rumors that Shafeeq may be the man who can bring the resting beast that was once known as the mighty Ottoman Empire to its feet again, but nothing public has been said.
At his election, after winning office by a landslide, Shafeeq stormed the capitol with a military demonstration to show the nation that their best interests had overthrown the corrupt and Anti-Turkish regime that held power. Crowds cheered as the guards entered the capital and it would seem that this may be a new age for Turkey.
Well first off there are three factions in the Turkish Civil War. The PKK, Erdogan's government, and the Free Turkish Army under General Akar. Erdogan hasn't been doing so hot lately in the Civil War, true, but with the way the factions have split the country I doubt elections can even be held at all. At least not a proper one. Also nationalists in Turkey would still be fractured between the Akar Free Turkish Army and the Erdogan government. Assuming you are apping as the Turkish government and not rebel factions, the Justice and Development Party would still remain in power. When I have more time or if someone else offers it in the meantime more information will be provided to you regarding the situation in Turkey. If you have the time I suggest doing a ctrl+f on the IC and look at posts relating to and about Turkey to give you an idea of what's going on there.
