The Axis of Resistance? Doesn't make too much sense, in my opinion. The Axis of Resistance is formed around anti-western ideals and Shia Islam [Although Syria is mostly Sunni, the Shias are in power]. Algeria is Sunni by a huge margin, with hardly any Shias in the nation, and Algeria would face disastrous consequences if it reared up and sided with Iran. Both Algeria's top five export and import partners are western nations either in CESDOT or the Toronto Pact, so aligning yourself with a nation which is heavily sanctioned by the west when most of your trade comes from there would be an economic nightmare. However, if you do it gradually and somehow manage to get in the good graces of Iran even though you have hardly any Shias and Iran is more focused on the Middle East than Maghreb, it may be possible.

After the victory in Syria the future of Yemen looked bright. Now with all of the Saudi attention southwards the Yemeni army was able to make great gains crushing a majority of Al-Qaeda in the region except for a small contingent in the south. "Though, this victory was short lived, as both House Saud and the Iranians looked towards Yemen. The Shia Houthi uprising in the North was devestating towards the nation, threatening to overthrow the Sunni establishment. The Saudi military slowly funded the government loyalists at the outbreak of the Civil War. As the situation became more dire, the Saudis began to involve themselves more, until the Saudis launched a fullscale arial assault on strategic bases throughout Houthi-controlled Yemen, allowing the government to take the upper hand. While the nation of Yemen lies broken and bleeding, a united state may overcome its internal division and rise to be one of Saudi Arabia's most valuable allies." Major Foreign Issues - Islamic terrorism, EU integration, securing energy sources, relations with the United States, relations with Morocco, Gibraltar's return to Spain

History - The Catalan independence crisis of 2017 spelled the downfall of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy while also splintering the Spanish left. Even so, deep-seated concerns with stagnating wages narrowly brought the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party to power after the 2018 elections. Since the PSOE did not have a working majority, it attempted to form a coalition with Podemos and the Catalan nationalist ERC, but failed in both regards. Negotiations broke down over the populist and eurosceptic positions of Podemos, while the ERC would accept nothing less than full independence. Leftist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez struggled mightily to push his agenda. Meanwhile, Sanchez's softer stance on Catalan separatism pushed many PSOE-leaning independents towards the gathering leviathan on the right.

Following Rajoy's ouster, the center-right People's Party entered an existential crisis, during which it was rapidly taken over by nationalists who were not willing to give an inch to the separatists; some even advocated for martial law if the Catalans could not comply. During a party forum in late 2018, the platform was heavily edited by the ascendant nationalist wing. Support for free markets was diminished to some extent, while the party pledged not to enact any further austerity measures. Hardline positions were adopted on immigration, Morocco, and EU integration. When it was all done, the PP was reborn as a nationalist party. It presented an acceptable choice to independents because of its move to the center or even center-left on fiscal matters, while also addressing the reduction in immigration desired by many Spaniards.

Further disasters would plague the PSOE in 2019. Violent clashes between pro and anti-independence demonstrators in Barcelona were barely addressed by Sanchez. Worse yet, the newspaper El País broke open a bribery scandal involving a half-dozen of Sanchez's ministers in March, though not the Prime Minister himself. One of the final nails in the coffin was an Islamist attack in Almeria that killed 27. The lack of cooperation from Podemos doomed him to lose a vote of no confidence in May. The new elections that followed gave massive gains to the PP and catapulted former soldier and ski resort owner Gabriel de Aréizaga to the office of Prime Minister. With 46% of the vote, the PP was able to coalition with defectors from the splintering Citizens party as well as the Basque Nationalist Party to acquire a working majority.

de Aréizaga's first actions was to reshape the Spanish immigration system, to make it very difficult for Muslim North Africans to gain citizenship. Garrisons at the enclaves of Cueta and Mellila were reinforced; migrants attempting to rush the border were beat upon by police and deposited, legally or not, back to Morocco. The budget for fiscal year 2020 included a modest but clear boost to defense spending, while social services were kept intact or even expanded in some areas, such as for veterans, police officers, farmers, and those in the tourism industry. The PP had accepted a budget deficit as a necessary component of their declared Rejuvenecimiento of Spain.

Spain has increasingly begun to oppose an integrationist view of the European Union. de Aréizaga has given a number of speeches in favor of Polish and Hungarian policies, while declaring that the "EU is both large enough and integrated as fully as it needs to be." On CESDOT: "I support the idea of European common defense but this idea of confederation is beyond absurd. Europe can never be one state, except as somebody's puppet." Opponents have described de Areizaga variously as a Neo-Francoist and a fascist. As a consequence of successfully rallying most Spaniards against the idea of an independent Catalonia, support for the concept has risen slightly within Catalonia. Tensions remain, and rioting is not uncommon.

Since 2020, the gradual increases in military spending have continued annually. Wages have rebounded to a degree, but concerns remain about the potential fragility of the Spanish economy. With leftist opposition splintered between pro-European, Eurosceptic and Catalan nationalist parties, the past four years have permitted the PP to continue remaking Spain into a stronger, more assertive state, with grand ambitions for the Mediterranean region.

You dissolved a political party, so I'm not sure at all if that should be allowed or if the People's Party has to stand, I'll have to discuss it with Pacificora and my Co-ops when they're available, and I'll telegram you when you're accepted or if they want it changed to the PP. But other than that, I'm going to pull a few graphs with the "European Union" section of your application as the general subject:
Image
Image

Shows that a good bit of the Spanish don't want to leave the European Union, although if I read that correctly you just want it to not threaten Spanish sovereignty. But, since your party is rightist:
Image
This shows that Spain's right supports the European Union far more than the left does. Plus the fact that:
Image
Shows that the Spanish don't dislike the German state, although...
Image
Spain isn't too big of a fan on the amount of influence Germany has, so you have a point if you're going down the "Germany has too much influence" path. [Also does anyone else find it funny that 10% of Germans think Germany has too much influence in the European Union? T R A I T O R S T O T H E S T A T E]

Alright, well I went on my run through the graphs of EU favorability. All of these come from the Pew Research Center, taken in 2017. I imagine these changed a bit with the situation since 2017, but I can't see it changing too radically.

@NUC, hey mate it's good to see you again! Why am I not surprised that you'd be the military advisor here?

Oh, I didn't realize you had responded, ignore my last telegram. I'll reserve you.

Awesome! So I'm writing up the app now and could use some advice on foreign and domestic issues - right now I've got:
Major Domestic Issues – Integrating immigrants, preventing home-grown extremism, continuing to make the economy more competitive
Major Foreign Issues – Strengthening the EU and the Eurozone and determining what place the EU will have in the world, standing firm against renewed Russian aggression and American withdrawal, extremism and the growth of terrorism in fancrophonie countries.

Am I missing anything major? Also, couldn't find a nice source on French military suppliers and places that they export to - where have you guys been getting that info from per chance?

Holy shit, a state in the European Union which wants to make it stronger, it must be my birthday.

Also, those are the really big ones plaguing France right now, they're not facing any large crisis like Morocco or Yemen, just the outcome of the Virumaa Crisis like you stated with "standing firm against Russia." These aren't permanent, and you can change them whenever applicable [quite obviously], so I think the ones you have here are good for the situation France is in right now.

History [MUST LINE UP WITH HISTORY IN "STATUS" SECTION, NOT SET IN STONE AND MUST BE APPROVED BY OPs, WRITE IT LIKE IT'S GOING IN THE "STATUS" SECTION - It was no surprise that the political tensions would be overwhelming. This was especially disastrous for Egypt due to the terrorist attacks in the Sinai, with the insurgents killing hundreds of soldiers. At the start of 2018, President el-Sisi approved Israel to launch airstrikes in the region in hopes of curbing the power the militants had. Initially it was a success, with much of international sources saying it had given Egypt's military an advantage in combat. However as time went on, it seemed that radical Islam was most definitely a threat at large in the world. Following the Stockholm attacks by the radicalized refugees, the Islamic State had claimed responsibility. Egypt, wanting to guarantee a closer friendship with the European Union, had formulated a new plan of action titled "Operation Osiris". The Operation was quick, decisive, and unquestionably brutal. It involved the stationing of an additional 12,000 troops in the Sinai, as well as a surveillance policy which many domestic human rights councils had criticized as "undemocratic". Soon, many insurgents were arrested or killed. On December 2020 the "Emir of Wilayat Sinai" Abu Osama al-Masri was arrested by the Central Security Forces as he attempted to escape to a suspected outpost in Jordan. The insurgency was quickly crushed.

The victory was well-celebrated, however criticisms of the President and his policies only managed to increase. "Execution Tuesdays", a term coined up in an opinion piece in the New York Times referring to Egypt post-coup, had become a dark reality. Many suspected of aiding and abetting the insurgents were mercilessly executed by military tribunals that had been criticized as unfair, with what some had even go so far to have said that "the President arresting opposition". Feeling some frustration at the lack of progress being made, General Ahmed, an aid in the coup announced that he will run for election. He ran with the promise of a more transparent, democratic, and a financially stable Egypt which respected all its peoples. The election was a decisive victory, with Ahmed winning ~70% of the vote. One of his first actions, (which had been heavily criticized), was sending in 34,000 troops to Northern Yemen to assist the Hadi government, a promise the predeceasing President made to Saudi Arabia at the sidelines of an Arab League meeting in Jordan. While not the 40,000 originally promised, it was enough to satisfy Saudi Arabia and assure them (and the world) that Egypt will be more involved in the world affairs. President Ahmed opened up talks with Eritrea regarding the possibility of more cooperation occurring between the two nations regarding economy and defense.

Realizing that the Dam was not going to be shut down despite the data sent to Ethiopia and many supranational organizations regarding the reduced agricultural output, Egypt had begun a plan called "Seeds 4 Egypt". While it had been suggested at the final quarter of 2023, Seeds 4 Egypt (also called Arid Fauna Modification Project) has been called an innovative solution to the agricultural crisis. The plan had essentially declared that subsidies would go into research on genetically modified organisms and similar objects in order to reduce the reliance farmers had on the Nile and her periodic flooding. The potential plan had also promised to promote STEM related fields, especially in agricultural sciences in hopes of encouraging more of the youth to pursue higher education. While the plan has not been approved, the Prime Minister had not-so-subtly stated that international research organizations are welcome to assist Egypt in the project, if the plan is to pass. In the same vein, an Egyptian government sponsored enterprise "Heliopolis Manufacturing" had been provided funds to research better tools and equipment to ease farmers in their jobs, though it is too early to tell if the plan is fruitful or not.

Following the election of Hampton in the US, Egypt has been opening up more negotiations with the EU in hopes of securing a more reliable ally.

Yeah, that's what he's talking about, I have it written in his status a few times. I'm just saying, that may be what he thought he missed.

Major Foreign Issues -Rising Tensions with the EU, Ukraine, and CESDOT, weak international trade, Relies on the Russian Federation for basically everything

History -

The old nation of Belarus, still flooded with Soviet age infrastructure, crumbling buildings, and a hapless populace, seemed to stand the test of time.Throughout two world wars, the collapse of a great empire, and the collapse of NATO, the nation still stood, ready to face its next threat. Unfortunately, that could come from inside. After two decades of service and leadership to Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko retired from his position, passing down the leadership to his apprentice, the fiercely loyal and fiercely Orthodox Anastasia Kobyakov. The former officer in the Belarussian Army took to her new position with glee, cracking down on groups that opposed her new regime. This lead to the creation of groups, demanding fair and free elections for “Europe’s last dictatorship”. These groups quickly went into hiding, after Police and Army Unit’s began to hunt them down. Internationally, Kobyakov has seemed to reaffirm her relationship with Russia and CSTO, so far with no avail. The nation of Belarus watches the rise of CESDOT with concern, and fears a reincarnation of NATO.

I'd just like to note this for future people: Although Belaya Rus doesn't have an explicit place in the Belorussian Legislature, it is most certainly the ruling party of the nation, hence why I'm not holding it to the "75%+" rule.
Accepted.

Major Domestic Issues - Talk of an Australian Republic, Institutional Racism Against Aboriginals, Migrant Crisis and Detention Centres
Major Foreign Issues - Trade with China, USA-Australia Alliance

History -

The origins of the Land Down Under, begins with the arrival of the very first alpha male of Earth. Setting upon the shores of Straya, with a spear in one hand and his woman on the other, he stared out into the land and knew that this would be the greatest renovation project of human history. From there, badasses have been attracted to the propsect of facing down the wildlife of Straya. Whether it be boxing an angry male kangaroo, jumping down on the mouth of a 12 foot saltwater croc, engaging in a foot race with some emus or protecting your kids from evil magpies, living here aint easy. And thus, this is how Australia came into being.

Since World War 2, Australia has cultivated positive relationships with many nations. A military alliance set up with the US of A has solidified their position in the Oceania region and allowed for national growth without worries of foreign aggressors. As the years passed, the country became very much multicultural as Asian tiger economies afforded the opportunity of travel. As a result, Australia got past its initial years of fears about Asian invasion and established positive trade relationships with Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, India and most especially China. Meanwhile, its relationship with Britain was maintained as a strong connection with its official parent nation and as a member of the Commonwealth.

However, in the aftermath of the Viruuma Crisis, Australia finds itself in deep waters. With their relationship with the Americans soured deeply due to their clear refusal to aid their NATO allies as a sign that USA may not come to Australia's aid if in need, the country looks to strengthening their already established good relationships with Oceanic and Asian nations. This comes in the midst of Chinese aggression in the South China Seas, with Australians fearing that if China gets their way their foreign policy may soon target Australia and her treasure trove of natural resources. Thus, it is that Prime Minister Macka was elected to pave the way for Australia's survival in such a tumultuous period of nationstates while at the same time remembering not to let current domestic issues get too out of hand...

Major Domestic Issues
- NASAKOM legacy: With the end of New Order Era, hard-line religious institution once again became a thorn for nationalist side and seek to undermine it
- Anti-Chinese tendency: The historic rivalry between the Chinese minority and native majority once again spiked by numerous economic, customs, and religious reasons
Major Foreign Issues -
- South China Sea: As part of set of countries in South East Asia that have a border conflict with China's claim, Indonesia relation with China continue to deteriorate
- East Papua problem: As tension continue to rise with East Papuan separatist, Indonesia unwillingness to compromise harm its relation with Pacific countries like Australia and New Zealand
- Asean Leadership: As the largest member state, Indonesia has traditionally played a leadership role. It has used its power and influence to mediate conflicts with the potential to jeopardise regional stability

History
With the end of New Order government following the catastrophic 1998 Asian Financial crisis, Indonesia has been slowly but steadily clawing its way back to economic prosperity and international relevancy. Among many of its achievements is its position in the G20, quick rise of its middle class, and leadership in ASEAN Community. The young republic however, is still plagued by many problem. Fundamentalist Islamic faction in Indonesia continue to divide the muslim population and agitated with moderate, nationalist government, seeking to replace it with religious dictatorship not much different from that of Saudi. While on the frontier, Papuan separatist movement continue to harass the army and harm Indonesia relation with its neighbor. Should Indonesia be able to triumph over both of its domestic issues and continue their development, It is conceivable to see the Indonesian once again reclaim the Majapahit glory.
