Because people prefer powerful or relevant nations over countries with copious amounts of conflicts and internal/external strife, I.e. much more gameplay material and things to cover in posts.

The most recent apps have been for Japan, Korea, and Poland. Which are pretty influential and relevant in their own rights. But the point still sounds, prominence is being chosen over opportunity.

For me, I like playing small, irrelevant countries because you can often keep to yourself and not worry about foreign entanglements, while making deals with various nations to improve your economy, infrastructure, etc. A lot of developing, mostly irrelevant countries have potential, so as the years go by you can climb up the latter to some extent. Really, it comes down to wanting to focus on internal development rather than a lot of the international relations aspects of this rp. they say if you stand perfectly still and do anything relevant the CIA won't see you

Though considering that the US and ESPO have threatened to nuke each other over a strip of land in Borneo, I don't think I'm quite irrelevant.

Do you guys need South American nations? I've heard that Venezuela has a lot of potential IRL, so I would be interested in taking that into this.

I would like to play Venezuela actually. I would say that currently it looks like Guaido and the opposition is going to oust Maduro(the Venezuelan military is slowly switching sides), so that's what I would go with, but if you guys have something else in mind I'd like to hear it.

Well currently, the Guaido administration never ended up rising so Maduro is still continuing a very unstable reign, nearly dodging a UNSC vote to build a coalition to oust him. Though there are some interesting behind-the-scenes things happening in Venezuela, but I'd rather not discuss them around prying eyes EHEMUSAEHEM. I can talk to you about them on Discord or telegram you, if you'd like Venezuela. If you're not sure, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, or Colombia are always fun.

I think Venezuela presents a unique challenge to me. While I have done nation RP's before, I'm used to colonizing and beating up weaker neighbors. With Venezuela, I'd have to address a major domestic issue and possibly a revolution/civil war, which would give me something new to work with. Also, either discord or telegram is fine, whichever works better for you.

I considered switching to Venezuela and was given an ok to have a democratic coalition seize power with military support in my first post so that might be an optionx

Nationstates Name - The Empire of Mystika
Nation Name - Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
Roleplay example link - Funny story, I don't have one.

Capital - Caracas
Type of Government - Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic
Head of State(s) - President Nicolas Maduro
Image of Leader -
Party in Power - United Socialist Party controls Presidency, Democratic Unity Roundtable(Coalition led by PJ, UNT, and VP) controls National Assembly
Executive Title - President
Religion Breakdown - 71% Catholic, 17% Protestant, 8% Irreligious, 4% Other
Flag - Click for flag
National Anthem - Venezuelan Marseillaise

Public Goals - Resist American "Imperialism", continue to spread socialism, draw closer to China and Cuba(these goals subject to change in the near future)
Private Goals - stamp down any resistance(Maduro), encourage revolution in Latin America(Again Maduro), overthrow Maduro and establish an actual republic(more to come later)

Total military size - 351,000(151K Active, 200K in reserves)
Breakdown of ground sector -
696 Combat Tanks
700 Armored Fighting Vehicles
57 Self-Propelled Artillery
104 Towed Artillery
52 Rocket Projectors

Breakdown of naval sector -
3 Frigates
4 Corvettes
2 Submarines
10 Patrol Vessels

Breakdown of airforce sector -
39 Fighters
138 Transport
98 Training Aircraft
104 Helicopters, but only 10 are Attack Helicopters

Major foreign military suppliers- Russia, China, Belarus, Brazil, South Africa
Extra military information - Venezuela is one of the world's top producers of oil, with a production rate of 2,277,000 bbl/dy and proven reserves numbering 300,900,000,000 bbl. This gives Venezuela extreme potential commercially and militarily, and allows Venezuela to fuel large amounts of tanks, armored vehicles, and aircraft.

Currency - Sovereign Bolivar of Venezuela
Currency and value of currency compared to USD - Bs. 66,937.5=US$1
Major import/export partners - United States of America, People's Republic of China, Republic of India, Republic of Singapore, Kingdom of Spain, United Mexican States, Federative Republic of Brazil, Republic of Colombia

Major Domestic Issues - Growing unrest with Maduro Presidency, Continuing economic collapse, failure of socialist policies, Drug/Human Trafficking(Cartels)
Major Foreign Issues - Rivalry/hostility with Colombia and Brazil, claims on Guyana, pressure from United States and United Nations to end regime

History - Not much has changed in Venezuela over the last decade or so. She still suffers under the hands of a brutal regime that silences any and all opposition while claiming to "love democracy". Her economy, once on the way to become the strongest in Latin America, is in tatters, with continued government "assistance" only making the issue worse. And lastly, she still suffers from large crime rates, of the same origin as her brothers and sisters in Colombia and Mexico: the Cartels. The ongoing War on Drugs involves Venezuela as much as it does Colombia and Mexico, with the problem barely contained within Venezuela due to the corrupt government and instable political situation. But nothing is ever stagnant, and some things have changed in Venezuela. The regime has only grown more brutal, and as the Venezuelan people wake up to the reality of their nation's downfall, they have risen up and demanded the step down of Maduro, a call that has been met with Lead and Steel. The cartels continue to thrive in Venezuela, with the government and military more pre-occupied with holding onto control then solving pre-existing problems. And the economy continue its free fall, with many Venezuelans unable to afford basic necessities such as fresh food and clean water. All that the Maduro Regime has succeeded in doing is creating the perfect recipe for a new revolution, one that may be coming sooner than any can think...

Most of it is done, but I still have to work on some things.

Well, here's my app:
[DO NOT REMOVE : 68954012663]

Nationstates Name - Romanussia
Nation Name - Romania
Roleplay example link - Here's one I posted on this RP!

Capital - Bucharest
Type of Government - Unitary semi-presidential republic
Head of State(s) - Ludovic Orban
Image of Leader - Here
Party in Power - The National Liberal Party, or Partidul Național Liberal, holds the majority of seats in the government in a coalition, collaborating with the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, People's Movement Party, and Save Romania Union, all of which were swayed into working together after many notable politicians and spokespeople of the PNL urged for sweeping anti-corruption reforms, stronger foreign policy and immigration stances, and multiple campaigns against the Social Democrats in the wake of the numerous protests and dissent among the populace. These tactics, along with some small compromises amongst the groups, would fuel the upswings of support for the party as of late and would bolster its securing of the Senate and House of Deputies.
Executive Title - President
Religion Breakdown - 81% Eastern Orthodoxy, 4% Roman Catholic, 3% Reformed, 2% Pentecostal, 10% Other
Flag - Right here
National Anthem - It's pretty cool if you ask me

Public Goals - A number of those in power in Romania have expressed the need to build upon its past anti-corruption reforms. They have also mentioned kickstarting and initiating a new period of economic growth and investment; improving infrastructure and roads around the nation. Their new take on foreign policy is a tricky navigating of the geopolitical atmosphere in the volatile Balkans and balancing the ties between the East and West, as well as overall developing and strengthening relations with its neighbors.
Private Goals - In private, many Romanian politicians have looked towards a doctrine of refined nationalism and pride, specifically looking to impose its will and influence on the predicaments of Moldova and Transnistria, and the ethnic and ideological differences in them respectively. The Cadrilater, Bucovina, and the rest of Bessarabia are also among these set of claims and would be a significant boost to the efforts of these aforementioned politicians, as well as staving off powers in the east.

Total military size - 192,00,000 active and reserve total personell
Breakdown of ground sector - 861 combat tanks, 1,500 armored fighting vehicles, 176,000 total personell
Breakdown of naval sector - 4 frigates, 8 corvettes, 3 submarines, 22 patrol craft, 5 mine warfare vessels
Breakdown of airforce sector - 43 fighter aircraft, 37 attack aircraft, 74 helicopters
Major foreign military suppliers - In modern years, the Romanian military has favored models of the west, choosing the arms and armaments from the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and Russia specifically.
Extra military information - After the violent and turbulent fall of communism in Romania, the country has closely aligned itself to west, and, when doing so in such a proximity to Russia and the east, became one of the focal points of NATO's expansion in the region before it's collapse. So as to not alarms these constituents and neighbors, it was gradually yet evidently increased its stockpile and military capabilities. All of this gave it an edge over Balkan nations and others, as well as gave it focus on upping its defenses along the length of the Prut. Most recently, Romania has focused on enhancing its equipment and preparing for newer forms of warfare. The newest trend of declining population and strain in manpower has become quite worrisome, as well.

Currency - Romanian Leu
Currency and value of currency compared to USD - 1 RON is 0.32 USD
Major import/export partners - Italy, Germany, Hungary, France, and Turkey

Major Domestic Issues - In 2017 and 2018, major protests began in Romania against corrupt lawmakers within the government, which signified the downfall of previously dominant PSD politics, allowing the rise of the conservative PNL and other factions. Further down the timeline, these parties approach a new doctrine and political disposition towards more strong-willed and nationalist leaders. These leaders have made various comments about the lackluster and diminishing economy and how it vows to make steps towards improving these conditions. They have also stated their worries on the declining population count and overall growth rate, and are aware of the commodities and improvements to life in Romania they need to make to prevent this and have taken interest in infrastructure and industrial improvements across Romania. Finally, assimilation of the minorities of Romania has also made up a new part of the country's politics, tearing away at the more major Szekely and Hungarian nationalist movements.
Major Foreign Issues - Across many years, Romania has had to manage a tenuous relationship with the differing policies of the east and west. While weary and opposed to Russian interest and sphere-building in the region since the days of the Soviet Union, facing such a huge dispute and crisis with the likes of the global superpower is not in Romania's best interest. Stances have to change constantly from time to time as the country weighs its options.

History - Romania has always been quite a resourceful constituent in Europe, let alone the Balkans, staying a mostly homogenous nation with exceptions here and there in its intricate and interesting location and cultural situation. However, the glory days of before have crumbled away, and turbulent and trying times for the nation have taken tolls on its inner workings and ideas of perpetuating national unity. After the Virumaa Crisis, its legacy has deeply affected Romania and its new persistence of pushing on and building a system of self-dependence. In an increasingly more hostile international environment, Romania has to steer itself to an example of national integrity and success.

Despite them not having a majority of the legislature, I'll rule that the PNL works as a party, but keep in mind they're in a rather large coalition, so they're a pretty split majority. Accepted.

History- President Barbosa stands to win the previous election, but only by a hair as the authoritarian Integralist Party gets a footing in the political system. Barbosa leads his people and desperately tries to regain the confidence of the people as the extreme party gains support through rallies and promising to the people great feats as well as verbally attacking the current Brazilian establishment. This would seem like more than enough for an aging president but he has even more to worry about. Rising tensions between Brazil and Argentina are of concern and the instability in some of his South American neighbors brings worry to the President. The economy also struggles and as Barbosa has done some things to hopefully boost it the economy still stays in its rut.
