I do not know enough about Brazilian and Japanese politics for my taste, though North Korea might be fun. The Vatican State might be fun to play since I want to see if Mexico eventually becomes available.

Following the terrorist attack in Stockholm that killed King Gustaf, the Swedish government restricted refugee admissions. The then Social Democrat led government refused to take any further steps despite popular calls for some young single men refugees to be sent back to their various countries of origin. These calls grew louder and more insistent until the 2018 September election which saw the Social Democrats and Green party lose power and several dozen seats. In addition the Left Party also took hits, although less extreme. The Alliance coalition gained seats with the majority going to the Moderate party and the Swedish Democrats who were invited into the coalition two months prior.

Under this new right leaning government the Swedes deported several thousand single young men that had come in as refugees and had committed various crimes with special focus put onto those that had committed a sexual crime such as sexual assault or rape. The new Swedish Prime Minister, Sten Bergheden, said that such measures were to ensure that true refugees would receive the help they needed and protect Swedish people, women in particular, from attacks. This was met with mostly widespread support among the population that had grown weary of refugees since the murder of their beloved King Gustaf.

The Alliance coalition went on to win again in the 2022 general election which gave them a boost as they took their victory as a sign that the people of Sweden were in favor of their policies and their vision for Sweden. In 2023 the Swedish Prime Minister announced that Sweden would look into joining CESDOT and possibly adopting the Euro.

In addition to these social policy changes the new Swedish government went about the business of strengthening the Swedish armed forces in response to the more aggressive Russia that was emerging. This need was given more attention after the US seemingly backed away from Europe by effectively caving to Russia over the Estonia issue. In response Sweden decided to immediately opening talks with Germany to upgrade the Stridsvagn 122 with the Leopard 3 thus creating the Stridsvagn 132 of which 20 have been built and delivered by 2024, with production starting in early 2023, with 40 more planned over the next few years. In addition the Swedish military ordered an additional 30 Stridsvagn 122 tanks of which all have been delivered. At the same time purchasing 20 Panzerhaubitze 2000 from Germany.

In the Air Force they decided back in 2018 to cancel the scrapping of 96 JAS C/D variants instead opting to keep them along with the 70 incoming JAS E variants. In order to deal with the increased transportation demands of the military they decided to purchase 10 Transall C-160 along with 3 Airbus A400M Atlas. In addition they cited a need for increased AWACS capabilities and this bought 8 more Saab 340 AEW&C.


Meanwhile the navy, starting in early 2019, started to show interest on improving the fleet. In order to do this they ordered an additional A26 submarine from Saab Kockums bringing the total to 3 which were delivered in 2021 and 2022 and the scrapping of one of the Gotland class submarines was delayed while the other was sold to Finland in 2023. Still needing to improve the fleet in both size and capabilities the navy purchased, in 2020, 2 Arleigh Burke class destroyers from the USN as well as 1 Georges Leygues-class frigate, the Montcalm, which had been retired by the French in 2017. In addition the Navy purchased 1 Bremen Class Frigate, the Karlsruhe, from the German navy since it had been retired in 2017 by the Germans. To ensure future surface power teh Swedish navy placed an order for two Horizon-class frigate in 2020 with expected commissioning in mid 2024-2025. Finally the Navy purchased 3 D'Estienne d'Orves-class aviso (Corvette) from France in 2021.

In the aftermath of the second World War and the collapse of the 23 year long regime of Benito Mussolini, Italy laid in shambles and had lost all her colonies. However Italy bounced back with a vengeance in the "Italian Miracle" in the 1950s and 1960s rivaling the growth rates of postwar Germany in intensity, positive growth remained strong through the 60s and the nation experienced a second surge of growth in Southern Italy during the 1970s through the 1980s. The country reached the zenith of her relative economic power in 1987 briefly surpassing both Great Britain and France to become the 4th highest GDP in the world. Afterwards in the 1990s the economy began to stagnate and with the fall of the Soviet Union, Italy struggled to find a niche as it's Cold War strategic value waned.

The 2000s and 2010s were rife with increasing corruption in the government and legal institutions, rapidly increasing external debt, and a steady stream of immigrants from the muslim Middle East, both legal and illegal. The constant instability of coalition governments only served to compound already present issues as coalitions rarely stayed in power long enough to counteract them

The Crimson Dawn event and the brutal Libyan Civil War, the latter greatly increasing illegal immigration, both drove the Italian populace further to the right with the ruling Partito Democratico finding it increasingly difficult to reassure the people that their social democratic policy and the European experiment are beneficial for the Italian nation.
