HISTORY: Kaiser Corporation arose as a major French-German company in the late 21st century based in Brussels. Starting out as an agricultural company called HAML, it began its trek to power with the acquisition of several major vehicle and computing corporations in Europe and Japan respectively. It soon rebranded itself as Kaiser Corporation. After World War III, Kaiser began expanding its holdings in devastated Africa, purchasing vast miles of increasingly shrinking farmland and nearly a quarter of Ghana. With the continent starving, it took advantage of its economic and political weaknesses, employing many thousands of farmers to work, with the sanctioning of the UN and secretly France, whom Kaiser made a deal with to share its profits with. France thought to use Kaiser as a means to keep their neocolonialist grip tight in Africa. But the war had badly damaged the French economy, and the UN was quickly dissolving independent states and France was next to the chopping block. Kaiser offered to purchase French Guiana, and in a desperate attempt to gather funds, Paris accepted. With expansion in South America, Africa and Asia, Kaiser had controlled practically a quarter of Earth's food production and had Africa firmly in its grip.
Africa was also the birthplace of Kaiser Corporation's private military. Before the centralization of the UN, the conglomerate had established a deal with the African countries (partially not of their own will) that gave the corporation free economic reign in their countries to do as they pleased there. In return, Kaiser promised a large return of the profits and harvests to their governments as well as major infrastructural development there, and promised to help the starving local populace by selling their products to them at cheap prices. This way, it would help end hunger there as well as to stimulate the poor economies. In the initial years after the partnerships, Kaiser Corp kept to their word, selling their products and giving profits to the local governments. But soon the prices began to rise, more produce was shipped to richer parts of the world to be bought at higher prices, and the governments started to gain less of the profits than before. Several nations grew angry, and began to nationalize Kaiser Corp's assets there. Kaiser anticipated this, and had been developing a private security force in case this occurred. With the aid and training of the French military, Kaiser deployed their security forces, overthrew the "rogue dictatorships" (at least, what France called them) and established corporate loyalists in their place. The UN turned a blind eye. When the UN centralized, Kaiser was allowed to retain their former dealings and assets in Africa.
Kaiser Corporation maintained a wary but peaceful existence with the Oxis Corporation, narrowly avoiding purchase by them several times. They maintained a sort of tributary partnership with Oxis; as long as they gave a portion of their profits to them, they would be allowed to retain their corporate independence.
For half its history, Kaiser Corporation remained earthbound, keeping to itself as it grew larger off its profits out of Africa and through its growing vehicular and computing industry. But when Oxis Corporation suddenly collapsed, Kaiser Corporation saw a sudden, massive opportunity at their fingertips. For years, Kaiser had thought of establishing itself in space, growing its agricultural facilities elsewhere from a rapidly desertificating Earth, but Oxis Corporation's practical monopoly on space travel had stayed them off from attempting to do so. But with them now fallen, Kaiser Corporation jumped at the opportunity. They began researching, building and establishing spacecraft in the jungles of French Guiana (also making travel speeds quicker by the territories' proximity to the equator), and soon established several colonies on Mars and the Moon. It also began rapidly expanding its military in the face of tribal/worker revolts in Africa and Asia. In a manner of decades, Kaiser Corporation went from food giant to space giant. With the authorization of the UN, their military has now grown larger, stronger, and bolder.

NAME: Arthur V. Steinberg
BIRTHPLACE: Frankfurt, Germany
AGE 2204
NATIONALITY: German
SEX: Male
SHORT BIO: Arthur was born to the Steinberg family, the same family that had founded the Kaiser Corporation. He was, from the moment of his birth, groomed to become the successor to the company as its main executive. He, like his predecessors, is ruthless and calculative, willing to do anything to advance the company's position. He cares not for the wants and needs of tribals or poor workers; as long as they have the ability to give him a profit, nothing else matters. Also unlike his predecessors, he wishes to reorient the company into a major space farming conglomerate, with Earth slowly dying and farmland shrinking.
