Name: Admiral Leon Tchaikovsky

Appearance: Leon

Age: 62

Species: Human

Occupation: Admiral of the 88th Fleet, also known as the "Fightin' 88"

Religion: Agnostic

Political affiliation: Paternalist

Personality: Dutiful, Resentful, Impetuous, etc.

Bio: Unlike many in the upper echelons of the Federation’s Admiralty, Leon was born neither rich nor in Federation Center. Leon was born in the outer colonies on the Industrial world of Krieg, but he longed to live on a richer and greener world. One night while his parents slept, Leon ran away from his home and made his way to the nearest ship dock with the hope of sneaking aboard a freighter and getting away from his homeworld. Leon managed to make his way to the ship dock and hide between two crates. At that point, Leon experienced "cold feet" and decided to return home.

However, Leon encountered several members of a local criminal gang, who dealt in drugs and human trafficking. They trapped him and attempted to abduct him. Fortunately for Leon, a passing dock constable managed to chase off the thugs and Leon took the opportunity to flee home. He never told his parents about the incident but never gave up his desire to leave Krieg. When a passing Federation fleet cleared out much of the filth and other criminal groups on his world, this convinced Leon that he would Enlist in the Federation Navy.

Shortly thereafter, Leon found himself at the Naval Academy on Titan. Leon threw himself into his studies, and before long proved himself a capable tactician. His greatest failing during his time at the Academy was perhaps his lack of networking. While he got along well with colleagues that held a similar background to himself, he found it difficult to relate to the more affluent and influential students. This would come back to bite him time and again in the future.

It was during his later years at the Academy that he met Drazhan Vasilchuk, and they became fast friends. But, being an upperclassman, Leon was soon shipped off on his first assignment. Despite being in the upper middle of the pack, he was passed over for many of the more prestigious and desirable postings by his social betters. This infuriated Leon to no end, and he would carry a chip on his soldier through the rest of his career.

For many years, Leon would toil in obscurity. Often lagging behind his peers when it came to promotions, largely because the brass disliked him. By the time his friend Drazhan had earned his first captaincy, Leon was still an Executive Officer. This prompted Leon to work tirelessly to prove himself so as not to be left behind. It would, however, still be sometime before his talent was realized.

When finally Leon made the rank of Captain, he was spurned again by being placed in a particularly dangerous and undesirable corner of space. A place in which careers went to die. Despite this, and the incompetence of those under his command. Over the next several years Leon manages to shape up his crew and bring some semblance of order to the region. But, his time in the far reaches of the galaxy had an adverse effect on Leon. He became a hardened man, and it was reflected in many of his future actions.

Seeing the potential in posting Leon to lawless regions to shape them into productive corners of the Galaxy, the higher ups saw fit to promote him to Commodore. For the next decade, Leon spent his time in the outer reaches of civilization, fighting pirates and suppressing rebellions. The exact opposite of what he’d dreamed for all those years ago. Rather than complain, Leon took his anger out on the outer colonies. And while his methods were certainly questionable, his effectiveness was unquestionable.

By the time he was honored with a promotion to Admiral, the name Tchaikovsky was feared all throughout the colonies. The mere threat of bringing Leon into the region was enough to scatter criminal rackets, send pirates cowering, and make seditionists think twice about rebelling. Recently, Leon has put his counter-terrorist mantle behind him. Instead, he focuses his time and burgeoning influence on aiding the Gideon pact, into which he has become a member.

Interesting info-Opt.( help build your character ): One of Leon’s most well known monikers is the Butcher of Cyrene. During his career as a Commodore, Leon was faced with an unyielding rebellion on the planet of Cyrene. Sending in his own forces to clean up the rebellion would have been incredibly costly, so he sent them a simple message asking only once for their surrender, or they would be liquidated. Thinking he was bluffing, the rebels refused. True to his word, Leon ordered his fleet to fire on Cyrene. Eliminating the rebels, but also causing significant collateral damage. While the Federation tried to cover up the massacre, it is still a widely circulated story attesting to Leon’s callousness and the Federation’s negligence.

A bit of tech info:

Most space faring ships have a warp drive. A warp drive is a kind of engine modification which allows the vessel in question ( regardless of size ) to travel 25,000 light years in little under 6 hours ( or about a quarter the length of the Milky Way ). Any given warp drive is only capable of making three such jumps ( regardless of actual distance ) before needing to be refueled at a fueling station. The fuel in question comes from the element Batrium, which is synthesized into a kind of energy and infused into the warp drives. It is similar to oil on Earth in that it is rare enough to be profitable but not too hard to find. In it's metallic state it is similar to uranium, being slightly radioactive, but in it's energy state it is quite unstable ( in that, if it's container is ever breached massive EMP's could be released ).

Just some info.

Well, the Gideon pact is supposedly now pursuing a more separatist path. He really hasn't adjusted his app yet.

With all these ambitious and militant ( not to mention certainly rogue ) military commanders, if no one apps for the Consul ( head of the GF ) I may have to take on the role myself.

This is true, but not all the members have to share the same ideology I suppose.

Rodez wrote:Faction App
Faction Name: Pact of Gideon/Vasilchuk's Fleet
What is the nature of this group: Military cabal
Where is the HQ? Aboard Drazhan Vasilchuk's flagship Cannae.
Who is the leader/s if there are any to speak of?: Grand Admiral Drazhan Vasilchuk
How many official and full members are in the faction?: The officer corps of the 9th Federal Fleet
Is this group legal and it's existence accepted ( if at all known ) by the GF?: Completely illegal. The Pact's existence is unknown to the Federation at this time. If it were discovered, it would be an act of treason.
What is the purpose of this group?: To establish a new state in a part of Federation space, so that Vasilchuk and his men can take their place as major players in the future of mankind.
Logos or symbols?:sigil of the Pact

History: The Pact of Gideon stems from the meeting of subordinates of the 9th Federal Fleet that Vasilchuk convened in orbit around the sleepy planet of Gideon in 3015. There, the Admiral and his officers took solemn vows that they would take whatever action necessary to safeguard the greater part of mankind, Federation be damned. It was in essence a declaration of loyalty to Vasilchuk himself rather than to Earth. Since then, neither Vasilchuk or his men have taken much action that would suggest the kind of coup d'état to which they are firmly committed. It has been enough to watch the Federation begin to crumble and wait for the proper time.

Interesting Info-Opt. ( flesh out your faction ): The Pact is quite covert in that the average sailor or grunt of the Pact does not even know what it is they are a part of. Knowledge of the vows is limited to the captains, Terraine Commanders, and commodores under Vasilchuk, with some officers of lower rank being aware as well.

Vasilchuk's personal legend, magnetic personality and long combat record is sufficient glue to keep his officers tied to him, with personal loyalty to the Admiral being the number one consideration for promotion. Indeed, his most trusted subordinates, like Terraine Commander Emilio Altieri or Admiral Braxton Massey, have been linked to him for decades, perhaps even back to the Academy years.

I will be updating the accepted list momentarily, though I am not too sure about a map. Might be tricky on a galactic scale, which is why I have the place of interest application. However, I might work out a greater galactic map later.

Overseer Station Nu

Calling Nu a station is a technical inaccuracy. It is, for all intents and purposes, a starship, given that it possesses its own functional warp drive. However, given the strategic doctrine of Directive Thirteen, and Admiral Robertson's own divergence from the current political ideology of the Federation, it remains in geostationary orbit of one of the planet Harmony, in the unpopulated and officially uncharted Ocean Tide system.

Overseer Station Nu is a heavily modified Dragoon-class mothership, one of numerous prototype ships developed by the Federation in its long centuries of control.
Designed to operate as mobile command and repair platforms, Dragoon motherships were intended by Admiral Janice Whyte to become the mainstay of fringe-system strategic and logistical centers. Admiral Whyte had pushed forward the idea that her new ships could operate as both military assets, be that as strategic command platforms or rear echelon repair/refuel, and as colonial peacekeeping centers. In this capacity, Dragoon ships could reduce the size of support assets around fleets, and function as intermediary defense systems for newly colonised planets before permanent defenses could be established.

The problem with her design, of course, was the price. On top of an initial cost that far exceeded the then alternatives, her new stations would also have to be continually updated with new technologies and systems to account for the changing demographic of naval warships. In addition Federation doctrine at the time were more interested in specialisation of their assets. A battleship was a planet killer, and a space station was a static object. As such her Dragoon was dismissed in favour of the far cheaper alternatives like the Rhine command platforms and Alexandria refueling stations. Despite this rejection, several Dragoon stations were constructed.

Gregor was quick to lay claim to the then-named Hussar station when it was earmarked for decommission. Shipping it off as part of his growing Directive, Gregor was quick to re-establish the newly christened Overseer Station Nu as his permanent command center. Over the years, as the Directive unearthed newer and greater technologies and engineering marvels, Nu has developed along with it, slowly becoming the self-sufficient lynchpin for the Directive's naval presence.

Complete with hydroponic farms and bamboo forests, Nu is also outfitted with small-scale factories, capable of not just repairing the small starcraft that operate as its CAG, but also furnish new craft when necessary. Though specialist stations and warships would outclass it in each area they specialise, Nu is capable of performing well in all fields. It is this ability to adapt that has seen Gregor pour more and more resources into its continuous refitting, to ensure that the Nu serves as the image of the progress his Directive have made in their years of autonomous service.

Nu is currently outfitted to serve a full complement of fifty thousand souls. However given a growing trend towards redundant systems and automation, Nu enjoys a crew of just under ten thousand.

Character App
Name: Quintara Huxen
Appearance: Here.
Age: 59
Species: Human
Occupation: Grand Marshal of the Federal Army
Religion: Athiest
Political affiliation: Human Supremacist/Federalist
Personality: Quintara is a political appointee, and she knows it. It's how she became Grand Marshal. Of course, she won't stop there. Her ambition is about the same size as her pride and ego, which is to say planet-sized. Ruthless and cold-blooded in pursuit of power, but when it comes to those she considers friends, she always keeps her word. A true patriot of the Federation.
Bio: Quintara was born into House Huxen, a notable noble house within the Imperial Senate that dates back centuries and has provided numerous Senators to the Imperial Senate for multiple systems and officers to all branches of the Imperial military. Quintara, as the eldest daughter and third child, was always destined for a military commission in the army. She grew up tutored in the military arts; strategy, tactics, physical education, and the arts of intrigue; how to hack, blackmail, threaten, how to talk and to whom, how to recruit informants.

Those skills proved far more useful to her after she was enrolled in the Federal Army Academy. She knew who to suck up to, who to befriend to use in the future, who to genuinely befriend to use as an ally in advancing up the ranks. She exited the Academy as a Corporal and rose over the next decade through her own connections, political aid from her family, aid from those who she'd befriended and were genuinely talented and so were promoted before her. She became a Captain at 20, a Colonel at 24, a General at 29, High Commander at 37, Marshal at 44 and Field Marshal at 48. She only held the rank of Field Marshal for a year before calling in every last favour owed to her, pulling on every last political connection and every last scrap of information to get herself appointed Grand Marshal, blaming the previous Grand Marshal for Lemuria and providing a convinient scapegoat to the Senate on who to punish.

Now the Grand Marshal, she has spent most of her (extremely-short) tenure ensuring that her friends and allies are appointed to the most important commands, those or people who can give her political favours later on. No one else can be trusted; it will be up to her personally to save the Federation from itself, regardless of what extreme methods she must take to do so. After all, a true patriot does what the nation needs, not what it wants.

Interesting Info: Quintara has come to the logical conclusion that the Federation is failing only because it is disunited, and that disunity is due to the existence of non-humans. If non-humans were to be purged, well, not only would it unite humanity against a common foe, but it would also eliminate the source of the longer-term disunity.

This is a good app, but I would like her to be older ( 10 years at least ). She is the head of the army after all.

Name: Quintara Huxen
Appearance: Here.
Age: 49

She got there through politics rather than actual competence which I thought would justify her relatively young age for her position, but sure.
