Welcome!
This is a Post apocalyptic Mech RP where you are a survivor, a hardy remnant of humanity 100 years after disaster caused society to collapse. In civilization's death spiral from the 2070's to 2125, experimental mechs were introduced into the bloody battlefield to try to gain superiority. Alas,
this only made things worse as their battered hulks became the norm across devastated battlefields. Now, they have been salvaged to create the Junkernoughts, massive scrapheaps that are the main fighting force of the new factions. Will yours go down in history as a hero to your faction and a name of fear to your enemies? or will it become no more than the rusted hulk it originally was, beset upon by scavengers? Your choices will decide in this difficult, new world.

Bio: John was born from parents in The Order of the Codex, a priest was his father and a crusader was his mother. Unfortunately, this meant his mother was often away on far off battlefields. Both were heartbroken when the news came she had died, her mech was ambushed by Iron Talons who quickly disabled it, inadvertently causing the engine to detonate. It was even worse when John's outpost was attacked by Raiders, who quickly overwhelmed the measley defenses. His father was killed covering for one of the Gunners. Grief Stricken, he fled The Order and happened upon the outpost New Alcatraz, a rather well defended but friendly indepndant that took him in and trained him to pilot a Junkernought. Now, he seeks to avenge his parents.

History/Lore
By late 2070, resources, especially fossil fuels, were running low and prices began to skyrocket. In a desperate attempt to stave off total societal collapse, the UN rescinded the Antarctic Treaty and allowed nations to drill for oil on the Seventh Continent. Despite attempts to please all parties, the UN could not hold back the tide as every nation sent drilling crews to Antarctica to harvest petroleum. Soon, to protect resources, Private Military Companies were sent along with drilling crews to protect what they had.

The lack of established borders in Antarctica created a crisis that grew as pipelines criss-crossed the continent. It was not uncommon for looting and piracy to occur as companies competed to produce more oil and receive larger government contracts. While the UN and other governments stood by, Antarctica filled with PMCs and other guns-for-hire.

The Seventh Continent War began when NATO dissolved. The need for resources spread across ideological and common-defense boundaries, and NATO breathed its last as nations grew more protective of their own supplies and less likely to share them. Without NATO or any multinational response to incidents, things spiraled out of control. A brief skirmish between PMCs led to denunciations, them sanctions, then declarations of war. The fighting in Antarctica was harsh, and PMCs were slowly replaced by national armies. The supply situation in Antarctica was desperate, and in a move to increase the number of armored troops on the Seventh Continent, several nations began deploying experimental Mechs in small, highly trained and organized units.

This merely intensified the fighting, and it came as no surprise when the flames of war consumed South America, then North America, and finally the whole world as massive armies were mobilized. As a result, the small units of mechs became more and more valuable and abandoned mechs became scattered across the globe as battlefields raged and entire theatres were opened and shut.

After 5 years of fighting, the war weary population of earth had been reduced by 10%, and a chronic lack of supplies led to a further reduction in population as plague galloped the globe. When the government of the Netherlands broke up due to a lack of people to govern, very few saw the tide. One by one, nations across the Earth flickered and went out as the depleted populations of nation-states were called up time and again for a levee en mass. By 2125, the world had entered into negative population growth, unable to further take the massive decreases in population.

The Seven Continents war, as it had become known at this point, was ended by the Battle of the Stratosphere. The last few nations, out of people and resources,
flung nuclear missiles at each other in the true spirit of Mutually Assured Destruction. At last, the old order had collapsed, and a new one had arisen. The mechs of yore remain the primary means of battle, as sheer power makes them an excellent option for fledgling governments


Mech Classes
Light: small and good for skirmishes and harassment.
Utility: Essentially medics/mechanics, they tend to damaged vehicles and Junkernoughts alike.
Assault: Powerful multipurpose Junkernoughts that are good for capturing and holding areas. Pilots are often behind enemy lines, however, making support difficult.
Heavy: Massive 'Noughts built to lay siege to fortifications, rather slow though.

Factions/Bulletin


Factions:

The Sanctum: A bunker complex located near LA, the people there held out the wars and moved to the surface afterwards.
Strengths: Refined mechs. Primary Armament: Cannons.
Weaknesses: Near constant attack. Weapon Constraints: No Melee(Old Fashioned).

The Order of the Codex: A religious faction who believes faith can reunite the wastelands.
Strengths: Great at Close Quarters. Primary weapon: Melee.
Weaknesses: Dedication to crusades leave salvage and outposts vulnerable to attack. Weapon Constraints: No missiles (to expensive)

Iron Talons: Heavily Industrialized Faction, social status judged by Martial Prowess.
Strengths: High jump capacity. Primary weapon: small, unguided missiles.
Weaknesses: Small and fragile mechs. Weapon Constraints: No cannons (too heavy)

Independents: Single outposts the size of a few city blocks scattered across the Wasteland, they are Neutral Zones.
Strengths: well rounded weaponry. Primary weapon: Machine gun.
Weaknesses: Isolated. Weapon Constraints: No Computers (low power)

Raiders: Aggressive Nomads that consist of groups of 16 vehicles and 1 mech.
Strengths: Hard to detect. Primary weapon: Machine Gun.
Weaknesses: Often stops for maintennence. Weapon Constraints: No missiles.

The Titan: A confirmed siege class mech located right at the center of the map, it is Dormant and all attempts to contact or board it have failed.
CAN NOT APP

The Ship Graveyard: A chinese Freighter ended up off course and was forced to dock at San Diego shortly after the Battle of the Stratosphere. A subsequent raid left the engine damaged beyond repair and most of the cargo looted, but mech shipments were intact. So they expanded outward and claimed the surrounding area.
Strengths: Well defended. Primary weapon: EMP.
Weaknesses: EMP takes a long time to charge(30 minutes). Weapon Constraints: No Cannons.

Singularity: A bunker based faction founded by the very PMC that invented the mech, they believe Technology is the secret to victory.
Strengths: Decent Range. Primary Weapon: Guided missiles.
Weaknesses: Poor at CQC. Weapon Constraints: No Melee.

Appearance: (Picture) A 5'2" athletic blonde woman with a small frame and too light of skin to stand up well to the wasteland sun. She usually projects a jovial, lighthearted air that makes it easy to underestimate her, but can be a serious and fiery leader when needed. By virtue of the stores recovered in their original underground workshop, she’s typically dressed in fatigue pants and tank tops, though she’ll use heavier shirts and jackets as appropriate.

Bio: Jen was born in an Independent outpost around the old San Luis Obispo area. Her parents were both members of the colony leadership and well regarded mech drivers, opening up the opportunity for Jen to start her instruction at an early age. The favored treatment proved will founded, as she quickly displayed talent in both complex operation and team leadership. Under the strain of circumstance, she was quickly graduated to taking out her one of her parent’s mechs when they were occupied with civil duty.

By the time she was in her mid-twenties she had graduated from defense and scouting to leading salvage runs into the wastes. During an early one of these runs into a distant field of ruins and wreckage, she stumbled upon a secret. Isolated from the others, she thought she heard voices coming from under a scrap pile. Following the sounds, she squeezed her way through cracks, pipes and ducting to discover a small team of survivors working on a huge junkernaught. Unsure of their intentions and not wanting to betray them or her own outpost, she departed quietly and spoke of it only to her best friend, sworn to secrecy. In time, they all but forgot of the encounter.

Time wore against her colony during the intervening years, and times became more desperate as the Mech-Salvage teams had to travel further afield for materials and often food, at times searching for days before they could return. It was at the end of one of these long missions that Jen returned to find her own home colony overtaken and now burning under raider looting and control. Jen brought her mech to bare against the invaders, and the salvage team under her fought with a passion, but they couldn’t overcome the impossible odds. When her mech was destroyed, she and the others were forced to flee on foot with little more then their lives life.

Huddling for shelter in the wastes, Jen suddenly remembered the old mysterious workshop. Leading her band of survivors long forgotten region, they infiltrated the refitted warehouse only to discover it had been abandoned for years. As best as they could surmise, the occupants Jen had heard so many years ago had wondered out into the wastes for parts or food and been destroyed. They left behind them the find of the century, a nearly completed junkernaught in an almost fully stocked hideout.

Even as close to completion as it was, it would take Jen and her team another six months to finish the work and get the junkernaught operational. Even as they worked, the land around them became more savage, and Jen resolved that once Horton was moving, they would leave these wastes and head south – away from these raiders and into the unknown. After all, the radio made it sound like the land of opportunity, and at the very least, it couldn’t be any worse.

Age: 33
Gender: Female
Appearance: (Picture) A 5’6” athletically built woman with tanned skin and long black hair. Like Jen, she usually wears tank tops and fatigues unless the weather demands something different. Although she also usually keeps an optimistic disposition, she can pull of intimidating better then Jen ever could.
Bio: Jen’s copilot, childhood friend, and plutonic life partner, Anna has been by Jen’s side for as long as either of them can remember. Although she was also the daughter of a mech pilot and a skilled operator, Anna never displayed quite the same raw talent for piloting her friend did. They worked well as a paired team, but the real magic happened when the two of them were dropped in a two seater mech together. With an almost supernatural ability to read and understand each other, the pair ran the mech almost as though with one mind.

**Mech App***

Nickname: Horton
Age: 6 months
Appearance: (Picture) Horton is a large amalgamate of a Junkernaught, bolted together primarily from two heavy construction walkers, a siege mech, an moterhome, and a private jet. The thin armored glass cabin at the very front of the mech is the forward drive seat lifted from one of the construction walkers, and from where Jen does most of her piloting. The inside of the front segment has been mostly retrofitted with equipment pulled from at least one, if not multiple, recreation vehicles to create a functional, if very tight, living space with a galley kitchen, bathroom and two booths. Directly behind the booths and just before the midsection is the Combat Control System: a tight, two person armored cockpit from which Jen and Anna can (at least theoretically) operate the whole vehicle. In the dead center is the vehicle’s main power plant and a whole host of systems, sub-systems and other components. The rear of portion of the vehicle, or at least as much as could be opened up, consists of multifunction cargo space. The partition on the right side has since been recited with bunks and claimed as living quarters. Accessible by drop-ladder from here is the fuselage of an old private jet. The once luxurious fittings have been repurposed into living quarters and claimed by Jen and Anna as their own.

Loadout:
The 155mm cannon has been the mainstay of the US’s artillery batteries since before the water-wars started. It’s ubiquity, effectiveness and the multitude of ammunition types available ensured that when the first siege mechs were created, they too would be equipped with 155mm artillery cannons. The model mounted on top of Horton’s chassis is the sole fully functional weapon scrapped together from the battery that used to be integrated into an old US siege walker. It’s mounting no longer elevates enough for true indirect fire, but it is still has a remarkable engagement range, particularly when aided by an extensive computer targeting system. Unfortunately, Horton’s armory contains only has a handful of sabot and high explosive rounds, leaving Jen hesitant to use it unless absolutely necessary.
Each 13mm (.50 caliber) machine gun is mounted in its own ball turret - one located on each side of the front drive window - and is controlled by a simple fire control system located inside the Mech. The large swivel range provides strong forward coverage, but the front balcony creates something of close-in targeting shadow. While there are mounts for two more turrets under the balcony, they’re several sub-systems short of functional.


Mounted on the back and midsection, Horton has a number of different antennae to allow it to effectively pick up a wide range of the radio band, from shortwave to ultra-high frequency. How effectively they can read the signals, however, varies wildly
Patched together from the siege mech targeting computer and the jet’s sensor systems, Horton’s radar/sensor system is patchy at best. However, with a little tweaking and careful consideration, it still provides invaluable detection and early warning system for the crew.
For all it’s warfare components, Horton is designed to be a salvage vehicle and cargo hauler. Both the original builders and later Jen’s crew bolted on a number of construction and mechanic’s heavy tools to the sides of the Mech so it could work effectively in the field. Robust as they are, most of them even work at any given time.

I tried to find something fitting what I wanted for the weapons and everything for the mech and only found that. can I re-post with just a description? for character appearance i couldn't find anything that didn't look to retarded for a human in the setting.

Bio: Born to devout followers of the codex, his father and mother were farmers on the outskirts of what was once San Diego they lived a poor and pitiful life. That is, until they found the mech while cultivating a new field. Immediately Joshua's father had the mech refitted and rearmed and signed up for a crusade to unite the wastes. He died the first battle not ten miles from his house, Joshua piloted the mech back home and started making his own modifications to it adding his own paint scheme and markings showing his devotion to the codex. His mother later died when the she contracted disease and the farm failed with only Joshua to run it so he left and joined another passing crusade at age 20, he became a veteran of several battles and crusades with to date 31 confirmed mech kills and dozens if not hundreds of infantry kills.

He still serves on crusades though not as often as he used to and now spends his life as a traveling preacher.

Please change the Flamethrower, in a world where Fuel is still rather precious a weapon like that wouldn't be used.

Bio: Graham was a former raider born to the mech-pilot of the group, and was groomed from an early age to take over his mothers duties for the group if/when she died. He took part in their raids from an early age assisting in salvage operations after the attacks. Graham was 20 when the group bit off more then they could chew after attacking an independent outpost, being pinned between the city and the mechs that had returned from some mission. He was the only one to escape taking the damaged mech (throwing his mothers corpse on the ground) and fled as fast as he could. In the decade since Graham as wondered the wastes serving as a mercenary for hire for various outposts and groups.
