Batarian Cold War goes Warm
Hegemony, Union ships clash near Spekilas
06/14/2188 - Breksha, Camala
Camala, Indris System

BREKSHA - After nearly two months of intense stand offs between the Hegemony based on Kar'Shan and the fledgling democratic nation known as the Union based on Camala, Union vessels were fired upon after entering the orbit Spekilas in the Harsa System.

It has been reported by Hegemony officials that the three Union Navy ships entered into the Harsa System illegally and attempted to land on Spekilas, where they believed they would use it to "Strike at the heart of Hegemony space". In response, a Hegemony Quick Reaction Force composed of three cruisers intercepted them and opened fire, heavily damaging one of the vessels before they retreated back through the Relay. The Secretary of Defense and Security announced that the Union force had only been dispatched there to offer an olive branch to the nearby Batarian mining colony there, the four vessels were registered as unarmed transport vessels, whose only mission was to deliver food, clothing, and sanitation products to the isolated Batarian mining colony of Dhardak, a small robo-mining station of 35 workers, who pleaded with the Batarian Union to assist them as the Hegemony had ignored their requests for assistance.

"We were attempting to provide for our fellow Batarians who were ignored by the corrupt golem of a government known as the Hegemony. Repercussions of this will echo out and the Hegemony will feel the consequences." Secretary of Defense and Security Ibrark Ghas'coroh had said in an interview with Camala-based Inhrilak News Service. The Systems Alliance, who has partnered with the Batarian Union to provide economic stability as well as to sell them their old naval ships, has deployed two Everest-Class Dreadnoughts to Camala, to assist in defending the Union and to act as a peacekeeper.

Seattle Sorcerers honor fallen teammates
Seattle Sorcerers face off against Dallas Storm
06/22/2188 - Seattle, Washington, UNAS
Earth, Sol System

SEATTLE - Since the last game months ago before the Reaper War spread across the entire galaxy, the Galactic Biotiball League has suffered heavily and for several months was unable to find sufficient replacements in their corporate offices that were lost to the Reapers. Among the lost were League President Usida V'tera, Vice President Neran Ventinius, and Chief Financial Officer Thala Renossis. Since then, the company has chosen Janalsha Meor, a native of Niacal. A Vice President has yet to be chosen but Jessica Thiloni has been chosen as the Chief Financial Officer. Despite the League's scattered organization, a majority of teams are still intact, aside from the New Orleans Loa, whose team was killed on the Citadel when the Reapers arrived to transport it to Earth. Today, for the first time since the Reapers invaded the Citadel, the Seattle Sorcerers hosted the Dallas Storm in a charity game at the reconstructed Sorcerers Stadium. Both teams honored their fellow Biotiball players and teams, giving all contributions to charity organizations. The Seattle Sorcerers beat the Dallas Storm with a score of 24-22. Both teams applauded the League and bowed to the crowds in the center of the field afterwards.

Admiral Steven Hackett retires
Former Fleet Admiral of the Joint-Species Fleet retires
08/20/2188 - London, England, Earth

LONDON - After a long and prestigious career, legendary Admiral of the Systems Alliance Navy has announced his plan to retire on December 20, 2188. As an Admiral of the Fifth Fleet prior to the Reaper War, Steven Hackett was instrumental in uncovering and ceasing more than 23 illegal drug smuggling operations in his Fleet's sector. Throughout his long career, he has done an exemplary service for the Alliance Navy and during his time as Fleet Admiral of both the Alliance Navy and the Joint-Species Fleet during the Reaper War, Admiral Hackett's tactics and expertise was important to not only Earth's liberation, but the defense of the entire galaxy.

"Admiral Hackett is a great man and a father figure to me. Serving under him was the highlight of my career. There will not be a better officer than he." Commander Shepard was quoted as saying to an ANN reporter during his vacation on Earth.

With Admiral Hackett's retirement set, the Alliance is scrambling to replace him not only as commanding officer of the Fifth Fleet, but also as Humanity's representative on the Galactic stage.

Alliance Attocity Hits Hegemony Hard

Hello dear listeners, I’m Andrew Scarper and your listening to GNN, your most trusted source for interstellar news.

Footage leaked from the Batarian Hegemony Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the GNN, has shown atrocious scenes of utter carnage on the Hegemony planet of Cholis, in the Batarian home sector of Kite’s Nest. The colony Kanakra, on the planet Cholis was subjected to an unprovoked, ruthless and atrocious Alliance attack, the video here provided to you people of the galaxy has shown an ugly side, a Jekyll and Hyde complex, an utter antithesis to the formerly magnanimous, virtuous and honourable Alliance comprised of hero’s such as David Anderson, John Shepard and Steven Hackett.

The abysmal nature of this incident has provoked the Hegemony to release an official statement swearing vengeance and reprisals upon the Systems Alliance, thus the GNN offers people travelling in the area a severe warning that your safety may be in jeopardy. Ergo, it may be in fact judicious to avoid travel in any capacity in Systems Alliance space. We have yet to hear from any Systems Alliance personnel, media mogul and current CEO of the GNN; Alexander Dryden had this to say,

“I think that the actions of the Systems Alliance are utterly representative of a reprehensible evil that is engulfing the Alliance, it seems that complacency reigns in the thought of the Alliance hierarchy; having contributed so much to the defeat of the Reapers does not allow for such brazen and unforgivable atrocity. I believe that the Systems Alliance should be suspended at once from the Council, pending further investigations. My own thoughts rest with any victims caught in a needless and horrendous malfeasance.”

Overall, it has been a showing of utter beastiality, on the part of the Alliance and GNN wholly does not condone its actions, it also doesn’t support the invariable reprisals of the Hegemony that will surely come to bear upon the Alliance. I’ve been Andrew Scarper, for the Galactic News Network, your most trusted source for interstellar news.

CITADEL - Tacitus Corp. today announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire both Elanus Risk Control Services, Inc and Acheron Security, Inc., two top performing security consulting and research for both the Turian and Human militaries Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will continue to operate under their own titles and licenses from its Cipritine, Palaven and New York City, Earth headquarters' as part of Tacitus’s growing pool of security and military-centered ventures.

Both security industry giants took massive losses during the Reaper War, resulting in the loss of over 689 trillion credits in personnel, property, materials, and liquid assets. In 2187, Elanus Risk Control Services, filed for Chapter 87 Bankruptcy of the Citadel Galactic Court after net losses exceeded 688 trillion credits upon inner-corporate examination by the Citadel Department of Revenue. Acheron filed for Chapter 82 Bankruptcy later that year. Since then, both corporations have seen profits and contracts drop by 62-87%. While a small, but well-performing corporation named Tacitus, ran by multi-trillionaire Erdorin Tacitus, approached both companies for acquisition talks. Since then, Tacitus stock has skyrocketed past 19.7% increase on a day-by-day basis, quadrupling revenue and inducing an investor boom in the company. Alliance and Hegemony on the brink of war!

Batarian President Balak makes demand for reparations, how will the Alliance react?

Over the last two days, the often contentious border dispute between the Systems Alliance and the Batarian Hegemony has hit a new crescendo, in the first time since the end of the Reaper War in 2188, the galaxy is poised on the same haphazard precipice that could lead to open war. It is clear to say the vast majority of the galactic community are deeply opposed the idea of any sort of armed conflict arising so soon after the galactic wide devastation witnessed at the hands of the Reapers. The Batarians demands are known to include a large sum of monetary reparations and the demand for the Alliance to vacate the Artemis Tau system under the threat of invasion and war.

Upon consultation, CNN’s chairman, Alexander Dryden had this to say,

‘This situation is desirable to no one, relations between the Hegemony and the Alliance have never been colder, I have little faith in the ability of the Alliance leadership to meditate with such a belligerent opponent, sometimes talking and tact are not the correct measure to solve a problem. While it’s not expedient, force may well be the solution to this particular situation”

Prime Minister Yuveleva Mikhailovna, the head of the Systems Alliance government is attempting to deescalate and defuse the tension thorough diplomacy and tact, whether this exercise is fruitful or fruitless will soon become apparent, though if hindsight is to be referenced, such an action will not be successful given the infamously frosty relations between the Alliance and the Hegemony and perhaps the even more infamous radicalism demonstrated by the Batarian President himself, whose hatred for humanity is a subject of some renown. We will have to see how this situations develops, for better or for worse.

Asari Republics military forces arrive on Tuchanka

Thessia - After months long deliberation between sitting members of the Council of Matriarchs, the Council has ruled in favor of deploying Commando squadrons to Tuchanka for a prolonged Joint Krogan-Asari field training deployment set to last for five months.

Earlier in January, Matriarchs met with Emperor Wrex and a delegation of Krogan Army generals to establish a military alliance with the Asari. The meetings lasted for one week and discussed troop movements between Krogan warriors and Asari Commandos, divisions set to be included in training and the location of said training, as well as majority funding for ammunition, armor maintenance, and other general logistics. For months, the Council of Matriarchs, which remains the most influential and powerful host of the oldest Asari Matriarchs that have taken it upon themselves to act as a leadership body in the Asari's de-centralized E-democracy, remained largely divided on the Krogan question. While the Krogan were instrumental in fighting Reaper forces across nearly every front, there were still many that held resentment from the Krogan Rebellions as well as caution towards the Krogan's new-found ability to repopulate at its pre-Genophage rate. Before the final vote was made, three Matriarchs had resigned the Council. Despite the turmoil the Matriarchs faced against one another, a large majority, nearly 61% of voters in the Asari Republics agreed that the Krogan needed to be treated as an equal member of the Galactic society, due in part to their sacrifice in holding against the Reapers while the C-Space races prepared for the final battle of Earth. After the final vote, Citadel News Network correspondent Tyveza K'lani was able to acquire a quote from Matriarch Aila L'tana, the oldest sitting member of the Council at 1,020 years old.

"Cooperation with the Galactic community has been a mainstay of the Asari Republics since the founding of the Citadel Council. For thousands of years, the Asari have been the pinnacle of inter-galactic affairs and the re-emergence of the Krogan as a self-standing, United government has drawn the attention of our Republics. We owe the Krogan a great deal since the end of the Reaper War and the Asari will do it's part on re-paying their sacrifice in any way we can, something that other races could so well in remembering."

Since the agreement, 500 Commandos from several different squads have arrived at the Krogan capital of Urdnot, with 350 more preparing to leave for Tuchanka by next weekend.
