Muskets- the Imperium doesn't make use of them, and wouldn't have designs for them. Breechloading rifles are the standard equipment of an Imperial soldier within the Armies, but I doubt Blue Lagoon has had enough time to manufacture those indigenously in the timeframe since fealty.

The population of your Outpost- North America is still quite unpopulated, including Ego and Blue Lagoon. I would guesstimate, offhand, that Blue Lagoon's population isn't much over seventy-one hundred thousand people. This Outpost would be very large to have five thousand inhabitants.

That point is also related to my last observation, the dozens of galleys. If you're talking about ships propelled by oars, two or three dozen galleys of decent size would require literally thousands of rowers. That's not really a population drain that Blue Lagoon can afford, especially not in one particular region of her domain. There might be that number of ships across all of Blue Lagoon, but I doubt all the river traffic of the governate has been earmarked for this river crossing.

Well shit...I thought they were just simple matchlock muskets. I didn't know the Imperium already had breech-loading rifles.

And as for your last two points, I had been considering correcting these for a couple days now. In hindsight, 5000 is definitely too large for this Outpost. And as for the galleys, I likely used the wrong terminology when writing the post. I should have just said sailing ships.

My first post took and became a lot longer than I thought.
I’m the Republic of Kraicia, a theocratic Caucasus-based country. I also roleplay as Kraicia, an equally theocratic, albeit Future Tech, nation. I do not represent the Orthodox Church or any form of Caucasus nationalism.

Yeah, basically didn’t bother with muskets, due to knowledge of the relative efficacy of crossbows.

@ Ulls: So, where is the army of Ego attacking first? Any particular strategies?

I’m not desperately opposed to short OOC notes like what Kraicia had- they’re better off in our OOC, but I won’t sanction them. The main problem is when people start arguing OOC in our IC thread, which I would like to avoid :P

Speaking of notes, if I may ask you, G-Tech: "Is my first post okay? I'm vaguely going off of my last post on your previous incarnation of this RP (as my previous OOC character), in case you're wondering how I know to post like everyone else."

Haha sure, you do you.

I mean, I wouldn’t make a habit of it. But I’m not going to mandate edits if you happen to include some OOC content occasionally due to forgetting that we frown on it in the IC.

Sure, it looked good. My only points of curiosity would be a slender woman hauling a two hundred pound tree over a substantial distance, and digging a ~108 cubic foot dugout using only a length of broken branch within the course of a day.

Kikka is an experienced survivalist; she grew up in a rural Finnish family and later obtained a high proficiency in her native Finnish language (thereby becoming a poet). From time to time, whenever she hunted in the woods, she had to build temporary shelters. Usually in those cases, she carried basic tools (e.g. Axe, Shovel, etc.); however, in the worse case scenario, she been taught how to make tools from her surroundings just in case she has no tools or her current tools either break or become lost. If she was born like an ordinary city or town person, it would be reasonable to say that it be impossible for someone like Kikka to dig and build a shelter; otherwise, Kikka is experienced and trained.

Excellent, I’m glad to hear it. I’m interested to see how the geopolitical chaos by the Great Lakes has impacted Franklin.

OOC Note for that post: For those of you who haven't switched over to Everett's clearly superior calendar, those two character interactions are just over a year apart with Kim's time being current. This way we get to see the ramifications of her eventual actions as she does them without taking into account the grapevine!

G-Tech...is it possible that you could send in one more Great Company?

Ulls is bearing down on me hard with tens of thousands of soldiers. I'm going to have to avoid pitched battles until we get the assistance of your rifles and cannons, as I'm certain Ulls's cannons and rockets will make quick work of us.

I’m afraid not. It’ll take a few months at least for the Thirteenth to arrive at the front lines, and their reinforcements have only just left Europe. It’ll probably be five or six months before they might be anywhere near the fighting.

I would just go with mass conscription. And defensive emplacements. Ego only has so much gunpowder to spend, and if raiding alongside drawing them into your lands can exhaust their technological advantage, you achieve near parity.

Cool stuff. I’m looking forward to seeing how Yaroshima’s drive to rule Japan clashes with the Yamatzon.

Yeah, my plan for now is essentially defense in depth.

Turner will not go on the offensive like the last war, until the time is right. First, we must exhaust Ego of its resources.
