Kosuro stopped as he reached the apartment blocks. In the distance he could hear Katyusha. It was the only Russian song he could sing (in rather bad Russian albeit). It seemed to be coming from the playground. Still, it wouldn’t make him go down there.

The apartment blocks looked rather depressing, and were built in a soviet-bloc style. He walked around the back towards a small shelter that stood behind it. There was a small hole in the wall of the building, where he stored a small blanket to keep him warm in the winter time. He grabbed a book that he took with him, and started to read. Only an hour or so before he could go home. As he heard the song though, he couldn’t help but sing under his breath.

John was back in his father's dingy, unfurnished apartment. It was a set of rooms of bare concrete and bare wooden floorboards. No chairs, no beds, no furniture of any kind in the apartment. He grabbed the six small wooden plates that his father, his 4 siblings and himself age of of and ran to the swimming pool to do the washing up. His mother had died of cancer when he was 6 and his father was unemployed. John thought that life was unfair for kids like him and single parents, but he felt he could do nothing about it. Or could he? His father had once told him he tried to be someone who did that sought of thing, a politician. John decided that he would be a politician when he was older there and then, on the poolside.

Aliana was walking back home, watching people walk by. She didn't notice anyone, and so when she passed by Luka, she was a prime target for a snowball. She sighed, her breath clouding ahead of her, her body shivering, she had forgotten her jacket back home..

John headed out into the cold snow. He was in his warmest clothes, a small jacket that was bought when he was 9 and a pair of tatted jeans. He reached the main neighborhood and picked up a snowball. He spotted a tall boy who looked like the one who had been pelting the poor young kids in the expensive neighborhood. John threw his snowball at the boy, and bended down to pick up another.

A young, small Asian boy of 8 years, hiding behind a snow-covered bush, suddenly got up and hurled two snowballs at Luka, both hitting him in the face.
“Shorty”, as he was known, (wearing a thick, oversized black jacket, a cotton shirt under it, and trousers) yelled something indescript in a combination of Chinese and broken English in a fit of glee, while dashing away from Luka’s direction while laughing.

Boris would continue “Hello sir, I heard that you are unemployed, my father has a business in need of workers, we pay 40 (insert RP currency) a month, you can come by for a job if you want.”

Carolus quietly rises from his seat, wishes his friend August a good night by saying "Have a lovely evening my friend" and begins to walk home while continuing to read the book he had brought with him. When he arrived home his father quietly greeted him while sitting in an armchair, smoking a pipe, and reading through the New Moscva Sentinel. Carolus would proceed to join him in the parlor after fishing out a bottle of Coca-Cola from the refrigerator and then taking a seat and continuing to quietly read the book and taking an occasional sip

Kosuro was now walking through the main neighbourhood; he figured it was around time to go home, but he decided to take the long route anyway. He had heard people saying that somebody was throwing snowballs down in the main neighbourhood but he took the risk anyway. Besides, it was only a snowball.

He looked down at his hand.
“Better replace that bandage.” He murmured to himself. He still had Katyusha stuck in his head and couldn’t help but hum as he made his way home.

Aisling enjoyed people-watching, but after a time, it got boring. The pretty music ceased to fill her ears, and standing still made her colder. She observed the ongoing snowball fight...from what she could tell, it was a warzone, not that she had ever seen one outside her history textbooks in school. She stepped onto a bench to get a better view, then hopped down, and ran into the street, her mind made up. Aisling took some snow into her bare hands and formed into a lump that only slightly resembled a sphere, and tossed it in Luka's direction, missing by a yard. "It's not nice to pick on little kids!" she scolded, giggling a little. She was a little nervous, given she had now likely incurred the older boy's wrath.

Kosuro stopped as he saw the snowball fight in front of him. To his eyes, all he could see was a bunch of neighbourhood kids standing round a couple of other kids, one of which seemed to be hit by a snowball. He was standing from a safe distance, but moved in closer and shouted.
“Hey! What’s going on here?” He shouted at the other kids.
