Alexa Grace
"I suppose stoping by the library wouldn't be too bad," the girl muttered as she stood up form her seat, thinking about approaching the other guardians about this. Would they even be able to real this language? Would they call her crazy? Oh dear there were so many possibilities of what could happen it was almost anxiety inducing...

"Though I doubt the library has any knowledge on this language. I've looked everywhere and there's nothing. I feel like I need to go back to the room where I first found it..."

Ai Jiang was focused on keeping Ana Henare from getting shot in the chaos, and she was also holding her own bleeding hand and wrapping a bandage around it carefully, after taking a bullet there. Even with her regeneration, that was going to be a bitch to deal with. It would make it harder to use a gun with her right hand for awhile, and she was somewhat annoyed when someone came up to her and asked what to do. She saw that it was Grant, narrowing her eyes under the mask. “We’re working on it, but you should ask Taylor, because right now I’m really trying to keep from bleeding out and throwing up from this hangover,” Ai muttered.

Taylor, on the other hand, was talking on the phone with the other Guardians in the city and asking when they could get here to provide backup, or rather, to bail the Young Guardians out from this situation. He ended the call after coming to an agreement, and then looked to Grant. “Grab Mason, Ted, and Ki and tell them that they can drop their post at the back door and get ready to make a run for it as soon as the other half of the plan happens. I’m going to get Riley to break a hole in the side wall across from me, and we’re going to rush across the street and into one of the shops while we’re out of the line of sight of the sniper. Help is on the way. Just a matter of not getting killed until then.”

But Riley was shell shocked by the time Taylor stood up and reached him, and not because of the horrors of the battle. It was because he was looking outside at what was going on in front of the shield, and he saw… Nathalie Christmas, flying into the air after stabbing Dell and then leaving Jessica to get shot rescuing him? It was her, alright. Nobody else had armor like that, nobody else had glowing wings like that, and nobody else would fly around with a metal rod like that on her side. “Fuck, I know her. She’s not a bad guy, what the fuck is she doing with them?” Riley asked to whoever was listening, referring to Nathalie. Because really, Nathalie was on the short list of people that Riley would never pick up arms against.

Cain

"You know that girl?" Cain said to Riley, taking cover next to him as he checked his power. Currently, he was still full on electricity as he finally began to swing the pendulum. "I'm horribly sorry, but right now you need to get out. I can handle this." As he said this, he casually walked out into the open as he ran towards Nathalie, before swinging the pendulum forward, firing a ball of electric like energy towards her.

Viola

Standing there for a moment, she maintained the gun on her as she slowly got closer. "Get up, i think i've seen you from somewhere before." She said, looking towards the other girl behind her. "No, there's something wrong almost. With these amount of holes, your systems shouldn't even be working, even with help from 'that'. The Guardians are hiding something from us, I'm sure of it."

Jack Frost

"You want to go back to Egypt?" asked Jack, frowning a little as scratched his chin, "You how much I feel about extremely hot temperatures..." Jack thought about it for a moment. He wasn't much of a fan of sand, being coarse, rough and getting everywhere. Still the ice boy could come with a parasol to keep him cool in the shade.

"Sure, I could come with bring the right stuff." said Jack with a grin, "We could even bring Jessica along. The hot head loves the heat and the sand. First, though, let's check out the library. I'm sure we could find a good start aside from just staring at that book."

Jack offered his hand to Alexa, his pale face turning a little red. He smiled as he walked to library with her, still finding it weird to be holding hands with a girl like this. When they arrived at the library, Jack looked around at all the books they had. It was certainly bigger than any library I have ever seen. "I guess we should ask someome first." he said coolly with a smile, "Would be better than just blindly looking through all these books."

8E

Given her continuous scans amidst the chaos and carnage, the Android had locked onto the bullet as it had sailed by and traced its point of origin to being further away than originally anticipated. Paying no mind to if the bullet was going to hit a fellow Guardian or not, 8E used her free arm to pull the massive Greatsword from behind her back. Given that it was larger than her entire body, she could possibly use it as mobile cover. Deciding to traverse through a nearby alleyway, 8E emerged on the other side, still fully intent on tracking down her enemy and bringing them to justice. At the same time, she kept up the minigun fire in the general direction of where the shooter was possibly located. Using her rocket arm would cause undue collateral damage, but she wasn't above using it if the cost to the Guardians would be too high otherwise.

"Really making me work for my pay..." 8E complained, only for her programming to kick in and crush any thoughts other than her current objective.

"Calculating distance, bullet drop, and velocity. Firing." She monotoned as her shots became slightly more accurate the closer she got. Should she get close enough to the building she was almost certain the shooter was located, she would save time by scaling it instead of entering the premises.

Grant Miller

Grant nodded imperceptibly. To be honest, making a run for it seemed like the best idea to not get killed and ransomed off back to Japan with bodies in tow. It was the best option to get everyone out safely. And then, Grant spotted the bodies in the street. One guy, stabbed in the throat, and another girl...dead! Grant stood in utter shock for a few seconds before swearing loudly before rushing off to the back door. The whole run, he kept thinking about the two bodies. "It was that french girl! I could've stopped her. She wouldn't have done anything to me! They...might not be dead if I wasn't a wreck.". He let out a frustrated yell between his teeth and quickly stopped in front of the three at the back door who he assumed were Ki, Ted, and Mason. And, speak of the devil, there Mr. Flirty was. What an asshole. But he had to put that aside for now.

"You three, Taylor's orders, get away from the door! Riley or someone like that is going to make a hole in the wall and we're gonna make a mad dash for a shop! HOP FUCKING TO IT!"

Anya Lockheart

The chaos erupted before Taylor could even finish his speech. A sniper, it seemed, had started shooting at the Guardians. They instantly scattered to their battle position, someone went straight outside the lobby before he was promptly attacked by a young woman with electric baton. Anya herself decided to stick with the main group and armed her own pistol. She crouched between the slivers of glass to try to hide herself from the marksman. She couldn't use her power, at least not now if she wanted to minimize any casualties.

Anya followed the order to stay low and cleared away from the windows. Some of the other guys had also gone outside and were either fighting the winged lady or finding and possibly eliminating the marksman. A thought pierced through Anya skull, that she should have entered the fray like a real hero. It almost pushed her to ran outside too, but her rational mind quickly reasoned that a hero shouldn't blindly run to danger like that. She patiently waited for her chance, her 9mm. waiting by her side. If she wants to be a real hero, she told herself, she has to understand when to choose her fights. Now is not the best time.

She carefully observed the events at the street when she suddenly saw one of the guardian got stabbed. Again, her instinct almost sent her to help him, but she controlled herself enough to prevent her from becoming another victim herself. The leader of the op was ordering everyone to back down and retreat as Riley was going to open up a safe path by carving a gap in the wall. She looked stunned though, and then she said something about recognizing the winged girl. Anya would say that it was interesting, but right now she cared more about her own survival. That hole better open soon...

Kana Iwasaki

“Thank fuck,” Kana muttered, reaching out with a shaky hand and taking what was left of the vodka, downing it quickly as she started to move and then groaned again. By all accounts, she should be dead right now. She had so many bullet wounds, and only about half a heart, and most people would be dead right now. Or maybe passing out from the pain. The parasite inside her was the only reason why she was moving right now and able to talk, but she didn’t know about that. It seemed like a simple miracle to her, after she had woken up in this state. “Do I look like I can get up right now? I’m hardly able to keep from passing out, let alone walk around,” she growled at Viola, aggression entering her voice. “And I don’t have any more info than you do. I just woke up like this.”

Image
Evan Riley

“She’s not a bad person, she was probably forced into this,” Riley said, refusing to move aside when Cain gave him the order. Because really, he trusted Nathalie more than he trusted any of these people. He’d grown up around Nathalie, not them, and no matter what she was doing right now… He felt like he owed it to her to protect her after the massacre that she had barely survived, that he had also barely survived. As Cain ran into the open, Riley would grab onto him with his enhanced strength, holding him back from making any serious moves against Nathalie, who caught the energy on her armor and looked stunned for a moment as she fell towards the ground, before spreading her wings again and hovering off of the ground. She made eye contact with Riley, and she looked just as surprised as he was.

Image
Ana Henare

Ana had been hiding for the entire battle, but now that plans were being made to escape, she felt like she had to do… Something. Even if she was useless in a scenario like this, where everyone was in the middle of direct combat and she couldn’t sit back behind the others and handle support tasks. But still crouched behind the check in desk with Ai, she opened up her laptop and looked at the list of devices she could hack… She pondered it for a moment before seeing what she believed was the Archangel armor that Nathalie wore, glancing outside before turning back to her computer and delivering a power surge that seemed to take out some of the circuitry, causing Nathalie to drop to her feet. “Angel down,” Nathalie said on the radio, from her position across the street.

Deadeye

The sniper stared through his scope again after peeking through the top floor window, and as he saw 8E approaching, he decided that the correct move was to pack up his gun and pick a completely different spot before the sniper nest was ambushed. He pulled his hood and balaclava over his face to mask his appearance, and put the rifle back in its case while picking up his pistol and tucking it inside of his jacket. He looked more like a civilian who was carrying a large package like a musical instrument or something similar, and he exited through the back door after going downstairs, moving through the alleys carefully. “Pull back, Lyev. It’s time to go off the grid for a bit,” he said across the communications channel. “Let’s not take more risks than we have to. We’re winning this battle either way.”

"Choris de Ignotis"
Kachina, Child of the Occulta Vulgares
Young Guardians Headquarters, Saitama, Japan
Late Morning

The journey was long, well, at least long for Kachina who never really traveled more than a day's journey away from her home. It was also long simply because things were always longer to her. So it was fair to say that when she arrived last night and was moved into her apartment she decided to just get some sleep, because there was something about jet lag or something that she’d need to combat or something like that. So, of course her sleeping schedule was off and so she woke up a little later than she expected.

Waking up later however had no effect on her normal morning routine. The routine was as follows; first she’d wake up and record any dreams that she could remember while pondering there meaning. Next she’d undergo an hour or more of practice, with her swords, powers and other combat skills, within her room, or apartment in this case. Only after her practice would she go get breakfast. That was where she was now in her routine.

Kachina was currently walking the halls of the headquarters, with her swords at her side. She was not only trying to find how to get to the cafeteria, but trying to make sure that she’d remember the route back to her apartment. But of course, after a few minutes, she had gotten lost. Maybe she should have asked for a map or tour? That didn’t matter now. She had three options, she could have tried to make her way back to her apartment, continue looking for the cafeteria, or just wait for someone to come by and point her to the cafeteria.

I can’t just stand around and wait… that’s boring... she thought to herself, I don’t really want to go back, because that’s like giving up… I could do it though… Ah, I’ll just continue on, I’ll find it eventually…

So she continued, until she approached a corner and felt the air grow colder. Instinctively she reached for her swords, but did not yet draw them. She needed to know why the air got colder, and if it was hostile before she acted.

Ki Yong-Jin

Ki paid close attention to hear what the newcomer had to say, although he still left his eyes observing the backdoor. Orders were orders, Ki was used to that. "Understood." He said with a nod and, without questioning, retreated from his post and headed towards a position that was near the others deeper inside the building. From there, once again, he could see that someone else had been added to the body count: a girl whose head had been hit by a .50 and whose body laid lifeless around a puddle of blood that kept growing, her face barely recognizable. No, no, no, he didn't have time for that. He turned his head away, taking a deep, shaky breath and awaiting for when the time of running came, all of the situation making him not realize that he was inhumanly staring at a wall, clearly shocked. Once again, someone else had been killed and he had not been able to do anything about it.
...
This feeling had never filled him like that before, for this time he was eager for the moment he would be able to put his hands on one of the Kings. He was eager for when he would be able to give the first one of them a painful death and disfigure their corpse beyond recognition. Without realizing, all of that was making him become what he used to despise.

He was bitter of the deaths, but in this line of work it is a expectation. He wasn't sure if Mason would move either. He wasn't around when the shock happened and wasn't quite sure of the extent in damage. Regardless he waited for an answer.

Z1
Heroes of Tomorrow

The peaceful ticking of the clock clicked away in a particular dorm room; however, the clock was not the only thing generating a sound of antiquity. Amid the 'tick-tock', there was another faint source of the same sound that came from the window. Standing in front of the window was a young woman not many laid their eyes on before - though there was something unusual about the young woman's presence.

Z1 was looking out towards the window of her dorm room, not weather outside, but rather the campus down below. Her mechanical computer ticked and clicked away quietly as she observed the campus below; however, at the same time, she was also writing without even looking down. Her small black diary and pencil were in her hands while she was observing whatever was down below from her dorm room.

Her handwriting was swift yet casual - the cursive was legible yet antique. If one were to read Z1's handwriting, one might believe that she may be writing in Old German; however, this would be an irony once somebody reads Z1's handwriting. Instead, Z1's vocabulary among her handwriting was actually simple and based around an oligosynthetic manner - combining small and simple words to form statements.

Dressed in her ordinary blue and white outfit, one may think that Z1 was just another Japanese android schoolgirl; however, that was only until one were to carefully hear the ticking and clicking sounds occurring from underneath Z1's human exterior. She was a pure mechanical machine, not like an ordinary robot with electronic parts. Curiosity and calmness were plastered on Z1's face, some made possible by her complex mechanical internal parts.

Eventually, the calm quietness was eventually broken by the knocking at her dorm room door, which only earned Z1 to swivel her head to the right and stop her writing. At that moment, before her head completely swiveled to the right, her mechanical computer quickly conceived a dialogue; however, the only downside was the fact that it was in German, "Wer ist es?"

Z1's voice, while feminine as well as friendly and passive, was mostly metallic. Unlike her electronic counterparts, Z1's voice was non-electronic, which was made possible by the bellows in her chest and mechanical vocal cords. If one was deaf and/or standing from a distance, one might think Z1 was actually human; however, careful listening can indicate that Z1 looked but didn't sound entirely human...

Otherwise, Z1 waited for a reply as to whoever was knocking on her dorm room door...

"If you think a slight shock is going to make me not run then you obviously haven't met my DIs back on the island." He got up and started to limp over and saw one of the Guardians talking with the Frenchwoman that fried him he glanced a bit to his right and saw Jessica in pool of her own blood. Nika Rosenal

"Give her some space, alright?" Nika shook her head. Jeez, some people didn't understand the concept of personal space. "It isn't every day you stumble out of a freezer in a place you don't recognise with no memory of how you got there and I don't remember any corpses that look like her being put in there so that just makes it even more confusing."

So, what to do with memory-less not-a-corpse girl who's name was apparently Kana?

"Stick her in one of the empty beds for now, it'll be better than leaving her sprawled out all over the floor. Also, someone should probably go get..." She paused. Who even was in charge now? Apparently the Commander and Ai were both off on a mission or something. "Whoever's in charge here. Or Ngata, something like this seems like a science thing. Hell, get both if you feel like it. Just do something that isn't standing there, kay?"

Erika
Heroes of Tomorrow

Erika was only hurt in her right arm. The incident several weeks ago left her with a broken arm; however, she was fortunate that she was left-handed, since her right arm was now in a cast. Even with the calm and soothing piano of Mozart playing from her glyph beneath her medical bed, the healing is only working passively - not instantaneous like other healing powers from movies and video games.

The music notes danced into the air and dissipating after being played from the glyph in a circular animated scrolling manner, which didn’t budge Erika one bit as she began to sit up in the medical bed. She was itching slight anger and disappointment upon herself for involving herself in that incident, which despite its successful containment, the injuries left her several weeks in the infirmary. This was such an all too familiar place...déja vū to be exact...

Then, the noise of people nearby in the infirmary brought her attention back to reality, making her grumble as she swung out of bed to find out what the hell was going on...

Mike came to a complete stop as he entered the infirmary. "Wow. This is a party. Mind if I join?" He hadn't expected it to be completely empty, but this was insane. Hopefully no one would question why he was there.

He slowly made his way to an open space away from the door. "Anyone know where bandaids are?"

Jackie Wilson

Jackie listened intently. She was shot and killed, violently, by the looks of her injuries, and woke up in this morgue with no idea how she got there. Could she be a student that was killed in the HQ raid? An attacker? A lab rat for the parasite. So many questions left unanswered, that wouldn't be answered until the blanks were filled in on who she was and how she got here, and how she woke up. For now, they could make things as comfortable as possible for her. If she turned out to be an enemy, they could always put a round in her head and put her six feet under a second time. Or, in this case, putting her for an icy nap.

She was then interrupted by the new guy who had a nasty scrape on his arm, asking to join in. Jackie grinned. "Sure! The more the merrier! Check to see if there's a medicine chest or something. And if you could, could you get some pain meds and water?"

As Karen tried to blink the poison out of her eyes, her vision slowly coming back with every blink, she heard someone run into the room. On instinct, she grabbed her blunderbuss and aimed it at the door. Though, she soon heard the words that they were escaping, and quickly calmed down. Ah, okay. "Yeah, let's get outta here."

Brianna and Tee Gallagher

The Irish gangster wondered where the hell she could find her cousin slash stepsister. She was wondering the halls of the Guardians headquarters, while the others were away. She had considered going on the Hong Kong mission, but it seemed like it would be a dangerous one, so she decided to sit it out. After all, her best talents were away from the battlefield, and it wouldn’t help those talents if she got injured and her pretty face was disfigured in combat. She’d seen it in others during the gang conflicts that had dotted her childhood, and she had no intention of that happening to her.

And Bri, she was just to innocent for a mission like this. The fighting would break her, Tee knew, and she had been the one to advise Bri to stay home. Sometimes the positivity and optimism of her sister annoyed her, but right now, she needed the girl to stay that way so she could be useful for Tee’s plans. People liked Bri because of her positivity, and people liking her would be useful for increasing Tee’s popularity indirectly. Popularity, of course, translated into power. But right now, she just couldn’t find Bri, no matter where she looked. Her cousin wasn’t answering her texts, because she was probably not bothering to check them. Eventually, Tee found her in the Catholic chapel that was on one of the higher floors of the headquarters building, and she dragged her into the hallway outside and gave her an annoyed look.

“God’s not real, Bri,” she said in a somewhat self aware and half sarcastic way, that still poked at her cousin’s Catholic allegiances. “You need to stay out of church and help me with my plan. Like you promised you were going to, sis? I found the room, just need to clear it out, really. Set up some locks. Get the goods. And recruit others to help us run this thing. We cut out the need to go to town, and we’re going to be the biggest trainees in this HQ. Top doggos. Big ballers, and you can’t even get yourself up to help with it-”

“Yeah, I know. Just not my thing, Tee,” replied Brianna with a shrug. “I’ll help you because I promised, though. I just had to stop by and confess some things first,” she admitted, before following Tee down the hallway. “It seems like trouble follows you, and you’re just going to get us in trouble again…”

Mike Purcell
Mike flashed a grin. "You say that as if I have a clue where anything is in this place." He started poking around the room, opening cabinets at random. After several tries, he finally found some bandages and set to wrapping it around his injured arm.

Rather than risk grabbing the wrong medications he shrugged and closed all the cabinets. "I'm not gonna hand out any medications. I'd probably send someone into a seizure on accident." Mike found an open space again and leaned against the wall.

Erika

She hated how there was a commotion going on in such a calm and tranquil infirmary. Her piano music continued to play so soft, putting some of the patients asleep or at a peaceful state of mindful. Regardless of whatever look Erika got as she walked about the infirmary, amid her right arm in its cast, she eventually came upon two people - One was leaning against the wall (Mike) while the other seemed busy with a patient on one of the medical beds.

If she could talk, she would’ve asked what was going on; however, muteness was never something to stop her. To inquire upon the situation at hand, she stood from a distance and watched what was happening before - much like a tourist at a zoo or museum admiring artwork. She may have been in medical patient garbs (socks and pants included), but she was curious to see what was going on, hopefully not barging in upon something important...

Serah watched as the undead woman quickly downed the vodka, no doubt spurred into haste by the intense pain she was feeling due to her bullet wounds. She almost felt pity, though that did not mean she was willing to let her guard down, what with the events of two weeks ago still in her mind. However, it turned out that there was someone far less trusting than she was, a girl who was outright aiming a gun at the purple woman. While it was good that she had her guard up, aggravating a zombie couldn't possibly be a good idea, leading the black-haired girl to back off a few paces after handing over the vodka and make a gesture at Viola for her to lower the gun for now.

Afterwards came Nika's instructions and the arrival of a couple new people, one of them having a voice she recognized: the friendly guy who ate a lot, Mike. She almost smiled at having another friendly person nearby besides Zakiti, but she was more focused on Kana and on Nika's instructions, which she figured she should try carrying out, since most people around were unfit to do so.

"Um, gun girl, even if the Guardians are hiding something, this girl is as clueless as we are, so let's try to help her out, okay? At least make sure not to shoot me." The black-haired girl said to Viola, before approaching Kana once again, this time reaching out with both hands; it should be noted that the left was still on fire, though it would not harm anyone. "I'm gonna try getting you onto a bed. The fire's not gonna hurt you so don't worry, I'm not your enemy." She explained, and then looked back at the rest of the people gathered on the room. "Mike! Nice to see you here, do you think you can help me lift her? And can someone else go look for this Ngata, whoever he is?"

Mike nodded to Serah. "Sure thing. Just as long as she's okay with it. Don't wanna grab someone without their say so." He walked over towards the purple girl. "That's how you get sexual harassment charges filed against you. I want no part of that. Jail doesn't serve nearly enough food."

He waited for approval, ready to assist the girl into the bed.

Edward "Ted" Tomlinson
"We're moving just cross the street," Edward said as they stepped downstairs, "for safety reasons I think I'll teleport to the other side of the street. The sniper may have stopped shooting, but doesn't mean I won't play it safe."

He teleports to the other side of the street, and beckons the other guardian over. He was shadowed by the building making his pale skin more distinct than other colors under the buildings shadow. He hoped the fellow guardian wouldn't be to upset for not going across the street with her, but he didn't want to die like other guardians. One such corpse was nearby dead from the recent sniping making a painful reminder to those who would dare cross the street.
