The RP will be set in and around Springsure, Queensland; Australia



In the 1970s the US realized that another unseen planet was in the solar system after a probe to Mars (Viking One) was pulled slightly off course by an unknown gravitational force. Another probe revealed, and took photos of a counter Earth- a planet opposite Earth in the same orbit around the Sun. The Soviets and the US sent probes to this planet- Mars, and Venus seeming less vital targets for colonization. Radio signals where then picked up, artificial satellites- intelligent life confirmed.

No messages sent to the Counter Earth where returned, but in 1996 a message was directed from the Counter Earth to Earth- in six languages the inhabitants stated they where coming with gifts and to establish trade arrangements. The world went into a period of chaos in which the Aliens arrived.

They where reptilian, resembling the dinosaurs of Earth; and represented an Imperial Trade Company rather then a nation.

It's now 2017, close to the new year of 2018- it's been 14 years since a migration treaty with the Tyrion Empire- the one world government of the Counter Earth, which they call Sauria, was established between Australia and the Tyrion Empire as an international testing of the waters while the rest of the world deals with the on going ramifications of Saurian contact.

It's been 14 years since the Empire signed a treaty of migration between our cooling world and the warm hearth planet of man. While I depart my clutchland for a new realm, I am weary- yet hopeful that my kind shall remain.

The situation on Sauria has become tense over these past few years as the people of the Tyrion empire further realise the extent to which Humans are allowed to choose their own government. Despite our vast liberties in the Empire, the demand for more has come to our land.

The Imperial Trade company, has not done much to help the situation on Sauria for they have been ferrying political exiles from Sauria to Earth. Myself? I just want to get away from it all. No where seems safe, and if Sauria is to fall to this madness I'd rather not experience that fall. Australia, I have heard, is stable- has a Queen- it'll be like living on Sauria once all this is through; once order returns.

The speaker hides their face with their clawed hands as their transport leaves. Just one of many passengers on a ITC vessel bound for Earth; the same ITC the speaker laments for no other company can bring them to Earth; anger having long ago turned to sorrow.

JULIAN (EARTHLING) CALENDAR

UNITED NATIONS OF EARTH
The United Nations of Earth was formed following Earth's Second World War (1935-1945 or 8135 to 8145 of the Saurian Calendar) to ensure world peace after it's predecessor failed. Like the Tyrion Empire of Sauria it's promoted social liberty, and racial equality though it's government is one that's hard for Saurians to grasp. It's like the old Confederations on Sauria, at least that's as comparable as Saurians can get to it. It's decisions are slow, disagreed upon by many, and it's to Saurians paradoxical. Humans however seem to understand how it operates.

HISTORY OF SPACE TRAVEL
During the 1970s the United States of America realized the existence of another planet in the solar system after trying to send a probe to Mars and finding calculations regarding gravitational effects to be off. At this time the notion of another planet was treated as a theory, but repeated incidents prompted such to be formulated into calculations. The United States of America eventually sent a probe that took the first photographs of Sauria; revealing a planet that could possibly support life. This had various ramifications on Earth society with many wanting to deny the validity of the images, other speculating on the types of life on the new planet, and a few seeing a path to territorial gain. The space programs of the various nations of the Earth developed under government funding, suddenly Mars and Venus seemed less desirable targets for exploration. During this 'Space Race' radio signals, signs of intelligent life, where picked up, and images of structures noted beneath the thick clouds- artificial satellites where noted- intelligent life confirmed.

First Contact
The Soviets built 'Emissar', a modified probe, to send a message to Sauria regarding Earth and it's people. The United States of America built 'Hermes' with the same purpose. Both of these where launched with no reply, and what became of them remains a mystery even with contact between the two worlds having been established. This contact was initiated not by Earth, but Sauria- when the Imperial Trade Company sent a six language message. Upon the arrival of the company the nations of the Earth where, reacting in various ways. Questions regarding the lack of a response or mention of the two probes in the message created some uncertainty, the lack of knowing what the people of Sauria looked like spread wild ideas- some even suspected that Saurians where in league with some reptilian shape shifters- which when the company's CEO and other Representatives arrived in the 1990s - only escalated. The UN had agreed on a meeting in the Sahara desert (the Middle East being too violent a location), and this had the world holding it's breath. Coverage, or in some countries, restricted coverage, of what transpired lead to further paranoia among the people- though the leaders of Earth where more agreeable. When the Saurians explained their world's situation, and Earth's warming it sparked some increased Environmentalism- and reaction to it. Rather then the sympathy the Saurians had hoped to receive. With the people of the Earth being diverse in their response to the proceedings, and the leaders having to rely on 'getting elected' a limited migration treaty was written up, and the ITC to present the draft to the Grand Rex (Emperor) of Sauria and where provided with some Human objects to gift to his Imperial Majesty; among those included the writings of Otto Von Bismark, a complete Brontosaur Skeleton, paintings, letters of greetings from various sources, and 'A History of the World' by Orsen Wells. The Saurians where not, very hopeful of the gifts but departed.

This lead to a slight delay of about a decade as Sauria reacted to the proposal; the treaty was returned, signed in an alien script- eight years latter with a 12 page letter, in the same script, which among other things expressed a fondness for Otto Von Bismark and the hypothesis that had Genghis Khan's Empire survived it may have been Earth, rather then Sauria, receiving tribute.

The acceptance of the treaty was welcomed, the letter critiqued and speculated upon by various news outlets after it's official release.

SOCIAL IMPACT OF CONTACT ON AUSTRALIA

SAURIAN CALENDAR
The Saurian Calendar begins from the founding of the first city in year 0. The present Saurian year is 8217. Like Earth it has a seven day week, and a 365 day year due to being in equal orbit to Earth around Sol; or Tsar as they call it.

HISTORY OF SPACE TRAVEL
The earliest successful launch of an object into space came during the 3330s with a satellite sending a continuous message till it's power cell depleted. This was accomplished by the Rocketry Society utilizing university grants and private donations. The communication potential in regards to radio was well considered and drove the first real space race between various telecommunications companies. However this scramble was hindered when in the 3340s the Empire began to get more involved in media.

During the 3350s the Imperial Telecommunications Authority began to establish a global telecommunications network and it'd be around the 3380s that this network would be well organized and fully functional with satellite radio. Satellite television was considered but proved impractical due to poor reception.

WIP

TYRION EMPIRE
The Tyrion Empire united the world at the conclusion of the Third World War, when the planet was comparable to Earth's 1920s (3290s of the Saurian Calendar). The planet then experienced a 'Golden Dawn' of prosperity but also criminal, rebellious, and subversive actions with in conquered territory. As the world settled down a period of connectivity and togetherness began to form and set the tone for future eras- innovation occurred but as the planet united it's diversity dwindled and advancement slowed. Much like Earth's Russian Empire the Tyrion Empire was vast but with large areas of wilderness and a very controlling regime. Over the thousands of years that passed the Tyrion Empire began to lax it's hold; slavery ended, marriage became less regulated by the state, - laws where made to enforce these policies. Private enterprise was allowed greater reign, a person was to be able to build themselves up; and when the people demanded protection from each other the Empire stepped in.

Earth is still trying to get a hold on what the Empire is, most views are largely negative though to it's people it's a very benevolent force according to Saurian sources.

The Grand Rex
The Grand Rex goes by no name, only title. When one becomes the Grand Rex they (figuratively) transform into a new being that serves as the collective head of the nation. Having been endowed with the spirit of the world at Mount Jur in the Tyrion heartland. One never refers to the Grand Rex by their former name, only as 'the Grand Rex' or 'My Rex'. To refer to the Grand Rex by the name they carried before coronation is to imply that the Grand Rex has not been given the spirit of the world.

HOLIDAYS

• Ancestor Day - Originally a way of keeping alive ethnic traditions and customs Ancestor Day has become more of a celebration of the planet's past with people dressing up as their favorite historical figures; which due to media many are popular. If no specific figure comes to mind one can always dress up like someone from the past so generically archaic garb is commonly sold along side other costumes. People are encouraged to channel via immersive study the spirit, the person, they seek to imitate and thus it's at times know as the Day of Spirit Walkers. Partakers are often given treats as tribute to the historical accuracy in garb or knowledge of history. Themed festivals, originating from the once common ethnic enclaves, are held in some parts of the world with themes related to historical eras with games, and contests around those. Technically Ancestor Day is only the start of a month long celebration.
• Hatchling Day - As Saurians are hatched rather then born they celebrate one's day of hatching.
• Unification Day - This day marks the Tyrion Empire's conquest of Sauria, and the dawn of a united people at the conclusion of their Third World War and was followed by an era that we would associate as resembling Earth's 1920s. A time Saurians refer to as 'The Golden Dawn'.

Technology
Prior to contact with Earth; Sauria, while advanced in space travel, medicine, and engineering (to satisfy it's diverse population), was technologically 'backwater' by Human standards in a surprising variety of ways. With the state of media on Sauria the special effects industry wasn't very well developed, Saurians never developed digital technology (continuing to operate under the analogue system), nor nuclear missiles. While Sauria had developed cellular communications it was still using 'cards' rather then 'applications'. All of which is surprising to Earth due to how long Sauria's been united.

As on Earth an internet exists on Sauria, but it was divided into specialized networks connected to different mainframes rather then a single network. Saurians had to sign up for service with one of these networks; the social network, school network, and the networks of various companies.

Energy on Sauria has at large been Geothermal to the point that 'Global Cooling' theorist have referred to it as 'Big Geo' (not a real company). Hydropower follows next in popularity. Solar energy, due to the thick skies, proved impractical, and more so with snow fall in some regions.

Since contact with Earth Sauria's information technology has gone through an improvement in speed, with the adaptation of digital technology; though the networks remain restrictive in regards to remaining true to their purpose- the companies controlling the networks have been reluctant to merge the systems into one. Film studios that have picked up on the special effects technology of Earth have boomed while those slow to such effects have decreased in popularity. Many Geothermal and Hydropower companies have moved to Earth, where they can escape the backlash of the 'global cooling' community, like wise Earth based 'Fossil', 'Coal', and other such companies; known on Earth as 'Dirty' energy have shown an interest in servicing Saurians though Saurians have been mixed in the reception. Some feel they are helping Sauria, others that the new found 'smog' so common on Earth will simply make the cooling more rapid.

MEDIA
Media on Sauria, prior to unification, was not unlike that of Earth but it shifted into a highly regulated industry during the 3340s when the Imperial government stepped in to promote educational, and informative programming on radio and television. This promotion via incentive changed to an enforcement of such and eventually to the Imperial Government having regulatory power over newspapers, books, and all media on the planet. Creativity was stifled by these regulations, and in time Saurians came to trust all they read, hear, and see as true or to have an air of truth they can discern though study.

The most common genres are moral narratives, historical fiction, documentaries, biographical films, hard science fiction, and informative material such as infocommercials and tv shows featuring occupational information akin to Earth's "Dirty Jobs", "Undercover Boss", etc. Nature and Survival genres grew in some popularity.

Popular TV Shows

• Seven Thrones - A Historical Drama focused on the royal families of the seven nations that dominated Sauria prior to one of the planet's three world wars. Seven Thrones is slated to have a sequel series set during that world war with a focus on key figures of that conflict such as major generals and honored soldiers. Seven Thrones is on it's last season so the actors of the upcoming series have been announced.
• Wild Wild Now - A Hatchling program geared towards the wild wild world of nature hosted by Gaff Mickinlym. The series is currently exploring the Fauna of Earth.

Feature Films

• They Come from Earth - They Come from Earth is a science fiction alien invasion film where Humans invade Sauria and begin to make Sauria colder though machines so as to be more endurable to them. The film ends with Sauria repelling the invaders.

The people of Earth tend to see some issue in 'State Media', and some regard Suarians as 'sheep' in how easily they believe things to which Saurians simply bring up how untrustworthy Earth media is which tends to start arguments between the two; with Saurians, not having to defend state media in a long time not having the best information to argue for it.

Social Situation on Sauria following Contact
Most Human media hasn't been approved for Saurians to watch; though those on Earth are devoid of these restrictions. Though migrants can't take certain media with them to Earth, for example; They Come from Earth is contraband for those leaving Sauria. Prior to first contact Saurians published media regarding various scenarios of being invaded by or invading Earth for the general public that detailed possible plans of defense and attack; along with how certain Saurian weaknesses may be exploited. The Imperial government has retracted those from public broadcast and has such works as contraband for migrants due to concern that; as the facts are very true, Earthlings may exploit them should the situation turn hostile. Certain Earthling media, primarily media regarding the Human concept of Democracy is also contraband for those Humans moving to Sauria. 'Democracy' is being treated as a disruptive concept, and even documentaries on Human culture are required to provide a 'moral bias' regarding the 'ills' of democracy. But those Saurians on Earth are exposed to it rather daily. It's a situation that has the Empire deeply concerned, and loyalist fearful of the world becoming as chaotic and fragmented as Earth. When it comes to the Earth based 'dirty' energy companies some Saurians, recalling the plot of They Come from Earth fear that Humans are trying to make the planet colder with thicker clouds increasing friction between the Humans on Sauria and the native population.

Biography:Xohtol was born to a family of lizards as an only child, an oddity for the Saurian species, due to a genetic condition on his mothers part, this attributed to the peculiarity of Xhotol's features. His farther a famous TV director attempted to cover up his son as much as possible as seen as he was a member of a small group of raptor descendants who believed that the purity of the various Saurian races was paramount and if his colleagues were to discover the fact that his own son was a genetic abomination as they put it he would most likely be kicked out of the group. So thee fore Xhotol did not only grow up in isolation but also with the constant insistence of his farther that he was abomination, this began to brew an intense bitterness within Xhotol and also lead to him quit emotionally cold. After about 8 years Xhotol's farther was arrested for threatening the unity of the nation by associating himself with genetic purity groups. It is unknown who reported Xhotol's farther to the police but it is noted that a rather unusual looking raptor child was seen outside of a police station on the day before the arrest. After the arrest of his farther Xhotol was the inheritor of the families rather large fortune due to his mother dying early on in his life. He used this money to attend some of the most prestigious schools throughout the empire where he took a business focused education.

After graduating Xhotol used what was left of his monetary reserve in order to set up a large shipping company know as the Imperial trading company. At first business was rather slow however soon the company was quickly becoming one of the richest in the world with it's influence being felt in nearly every sector of Saurian industry. In this time Xhotol did not start up a family or any kind of personal relationships for as he said in many interviews that the company was all the family he needed however he actually viewed the company as one big middle finger up to his now deceased farther. Now the company is beginning to fail as the global economy is beginning to go into rescission due to the mass global cooling and Xhotol now desperate to save the company turns his eyes towards Earth.

In the year 1996 Xhotol was one of the first Saurians to make contact with Humans and was the one who tried so desperately to forge a migration treaty with all nations on Earth however due to political, cultural or religious reasons he was unable to secure the global migration treaty that he had hoped for. In the past few years Xhotol has been at the forefront of Human- Saurian relations with him offering to sell Saurian technology to the nations of Earth and then buying any Human technology that might interest his fellow Saurians. One particular market that he's profited immensely from is the pharmaceutical industry where he has been able to take plants from Sauria which hold medicinal properties and then deliver them to Earth where multiple diseases that were once considered incurable were now being cured by these Saurian plants. Australia is noted for having a large immigrant population even in our timeline. Bill Hayden would have been Governor General at the time of first contact, and based on the timeline for the RP when the treaty was drafted and sent to Sauria.

Interestingly enough, this makes a lot of sense. The combination of party affiliation, Bill's lack of faith (he rejected a position as Chief Scout of Australia on the grounds of his Atheism), and his open promotion of immigration- it makes a LOT of sense.

Australia is noted for having a large immigrant population even in our timeline. Bill Hayden would have been Governor General at the time of first contact, and based on the timeline for the RP when the treaty was drafted and sent to Sauria.

Interestingly enough, this makes a lot of sense. The combination of party affiliation, Bill's lack of faith (he rejected a position as Chief Scout of Australia on the grounds of his Atheism), and his open promotion of immigration- it makes a LOT of sense.

So, I started think about how media on Earth might be impacted by the Saurians contacting Earth in 1996.

I've got this idea that the Jurrassic Park film franchise might take a different direction, like the 2nd film would still just be the second film (it'd of been filming at that time) but films after that- for example, since the RP is in 2017;

So, I've got a saurian character- raptor decent- and while I'm still working on the bio. I still have my previous character of course but I'd like to have a new one as Teyrance knows so much about Earth; as in I want a character that doesn't know much at all so I can explore this world with questions and ignorance.

I've had a few names and background come to my mind; Rexanna, Xena, Xeranna, Xamae aka Xam (or Sam as Earth people may call her), etc. Backgrounds from disinherited lesser noble (youngest daughter with some situation at home) to middle class normie. With the latter of those being the most recent and appealing as well as most broad.

I'd like to have her close to someone, preferably Human, willing to help her adjust. Proximity preferred would be apartments- as in across from one another or room rental at someone's house though I imagine that to be nerve wracking especially at night and especially early in the arrangement.

I'd rather someone else play such a Human as where I to play such a person it'd be me answering questions in my own way rather then responding in character to an explanation not of my mind- as in it's not as enjoyable and a bit like talking to my self.

Or would you prefer someone who's just only heard about Saurians on the tele, and never really seen one up close?

Sauria isn't going through the best image back on Earth now that it's having to oppress it's youth's demands for political voice.

Like, (I'm about to use an image); this is probably the kind of image Earth people with concern about Sauria picture at the moment;

Which let's face it, is the prefect image for building sympathy towards the democratic cause on Sauria.

Character Name: Tallah
Saurian Ancestry: Raptor (some Oviraptor heritage down the line which thankfully in modern Sauria doesn't impact her negatively as it might have in the 3360s Sorry that my dino-knowledge is from the 90s so not up to date.)
B.R.A.: Female
Physical Description: Tallah is a light blue humanoid raptor with a black stripe down her back and tail that has two white stripes on either side of the black. The stripes begin at the top of her head.
Biography: Tallah hatched in a small town that while near to the Tyrion heartland was rural, much like the lands surrounding the Big Apple of New York City on Earth. Tallah studied agriculture vocationally but moved to more urban grounds rather then exploring higher education on the topic. In the cityscape she took on a waitress position at a modest establishment, and competed in a local sponsored race through the city.

She came in 51st place (out of 244). Tallah didn't pursue a further education, though having enjoyed the race she switched occupations- finding employment with a curior service which proved taxing when the weather was coldest and went back to her old job as a waitress where it seemed she would remain. That was until the Imperial Trade Company made contact with Earth, and began a grand employment campaign. Tallah couldn't secure employment with the ITC back then, due to all the highly skilled and educated applications before her. However, as the city became violent, and the community she had come to consider herself a member of crumbled she found tragedy, and a desire to get away.

Using her experience as a curior, and some 'Migration Services' of Earth-Saurian Origin; she enrolled in a special program where she'd be able to put her experience to work on Earth in a postal service along with other benefits.

My plan has been to launch the IC before then new year, however with some need to refine the OP posts and only ... well- hardly any days left to complete that deadline- the IC may end up being set near the start of the new year when it launches. I haven't heard back from Commonwealth regarding his work :/

As an update on what is in planning to be added here is a list;

• Expanded or Revised Earth Timeline (waiting to hear form Commonwealth)
• Saurian Culture (Ancestral Worship, Family Life, Marriage, Spirit of the World, etc)
• Saurian History (The first, second, and third world wars)
• Saurian Liberties (High Social and Economic Liberties experienced by the Saurian Population and how some of those have been threatened with the first truly noticable change coming from the nationalization of several companies during the Remilitarization of Sauria during the first RP)
• Saurian Media (Notable Films, TV Shows, Hatchling Programming, and the history of Media on Sauria along with what Earth media has made it's way to Sauria

This additions are so broad that they will likely come bit by bit so any statement on what aspect is most desired is helpful as I attempt to make the process of character creation easier.
