Zarkenis Ultima wrote:Here's an app for a character I'm going to use to set up what I hope will be an interesting arc a little down the road. Apps for the other two members of the Cabal will come up soon (I hope).

Name: Adrian
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Here
Young Blood?: No
Bio: Adrian was born to a fairly wealthy Norwegian couple that worked together on one of Delta Pharmaceutical's many branch offices on Europe. His childhood was a happy one, but not long after he had turned ten, his parents took him along on a vacation to Bergen, where both of them died during the battle between Iron Chef and Necromancer, giving their lives to protect their child. Thanks to them, he survived long enough for them to be chased off by none other than the Queen of the Valkyries. He was alive, yet alone.

However, before the day was over, a powerful magician intent on repairing the damage caused stumbled across him and had mercy on the orphaned child, taking him back home and adopting him. Though at first he was very quiet and reluctant to interact with anyone else, in time Adrian formed a bond with the magician and his adult son, and eventually grew bold enough to ask his father to train him. The study of magic, he was told, was not for everyone, but even so, the magician agreed to teach him, and was surprised by how quickly he was able to grasp the basics. He was not the greatest, certainly, but before long, Adrian proved himself capable of mastering magic one day, and so he was taken to train with the sorcerers of the Phantom Brotherhood, where he spent the next four years.

During his training, Adrian developed a peculiar thirst for knowledge and experimentation that would eventually lead him astray. One day, in secret, he attempted a ritual to summon a being from the dimensional crossroads and bind it to his will. The ritual was partially successful, but the creature was too powerful to be controlled by a mere child, and began wreaking havoc around the room. The noise caused by this led the magicians of the Phantom Brotherhood to discover the incident and rush to the scene to attempt to restrain, banish or destroy the creature. In a last-ditch effort, the being, clearly outnumbered, attempted to possess Adrian. Fortunately, the Brotherhood managed to subjugate the creature even as it dwelt within Adrian, freeing him from its influence, though he was in turn used as a vessel to keep it contained, and was isolated from his family and the rest of the world and kept under heavy watch for a year, until he finally escaped and went into hiding.

After escaping from the Brotherhood and lying low for two years, however, Adrian surfaced again in San Diego, recruiting two other teenage superhumans to his cause and forming a group called the Cabal, working in secret towards an unknown goal.
Powers:
  • [Sorcery]: Adrian is an adept at using magic, rituals and summoning spells in particular, though he dabbles in other types.
  • [Shapeshifting]: Adrian can change his appearance at will and even give himself certain non-human features.

Limitations:
  • Magic always requires a trigger: chanting/casting, runestone carving, somatic patterns, etc.
  • In order to perform rituals, one of his specialties, Adrian naturally requires a lot of time and preparation; they are not the sort of thing one can employ in a fight, even if most components were set up beforehand.
  • Summoned creatures can, if powerful enough, resist his influence or even ignore it altogether.
  • His shapeshifting is almost purely cosmetic; he cannot gain significant abilities from changing the way he looks.

Weaknesses:
  • [Squishy]: The average human being can literally punch his lights out with a single hit if they try hard enough.
  • [Banishment]: Spells designed to banish magical creatures from the realm of Earth can easily render him unconscious.
  • [Magic Negation]: Any rituals or area-of-effect spells or powers that dampen or negate magic are especially harmful to him.

Likes: Cold weather, reading, meaty dishes, havoc.
Dislikes: Hot weather, exercise, sweets, quiet days.

Additional Information-
Birthday: December 2nd
Theme song: To be added
Favorite food: Meatcakes
Greatest fear: Imprisonment

Nice app Zark, accepted, this is a good amount of backstory, could honestly probably do less for the others if you want.

Here's the two other members of the Cabal!

Name: Lucas Card
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Dragul Vampire (the kind described in the OP)
Appearance: New Look
Young Blood?: No
Bio: Lucas was the only child of an archaeologist and a medic, a happy and fairly successful couple that had moved to the United States from the United Kingdom. When he was still in his mother's womb, his father left to Egypt in order to explore a new archaeological site discovered there, leaving his mother in the care of her family and promising to come back in time to witness his birth. He never fulfilled that promise, as soon after, the ancient superhuman known as Dark Star devastated a large area that included the site that Mr. Card was studying.

Growing up alone with his mother, Lucas came to admire her greatly, even trying to learn first-aid and dabble in medicine to be more like her, though his hot-headed and proud temperament didn't lend itself well to healing or comforting people; instead, he got in trouble often enough to become a skilled brawler, though what he learned from his mother helped him patch himself up whenever necessary. However, no amount of skills would save him from his fate, as one day, while walking around town, he stumbled upon an unlikely sight: Pale men were battling in the streets, using strange psychic powers to try to gain the advantage. Three of the four were fighting against the other one, seemingly the most powerful of the lot, and Lucas was caught in the midst, being fatally wounded before he could escape the scene or hide. Before everything went dark, he saw the lone fighter vanquish the other three and begin walking towards him.

The boy woke up soon after, the pale man explaining to him that he had been forced to turn him into a dragul vampire to save his life. The duo made its way back to the boy's home, where his mother learned about the situation as well. Distraught, she nonetheless accepted the man's offer to take Lucas along on his journeys and train him so that he would learn to control his vampiric powers and thirst alike. Lucas traveled with the mighty dragul for the following year, though recently a run-in with an anti-vampire offshoot of the Phantom Brotherhood separated them, causing him to end up 'stranded' in San Diego, where a boy and a girl about his age convinced him he would grow stronger and do great things if he joined their group, the Cabal.
Powers:
  • [Dragul Vampire Physiology]:
    • Agelessness
    • Enhanced Condition
    • Enhanced Instincts
  • [Dark Breath]:
    • Telekinesis
    • Blood Consumption
    • Conversion
    • Mistform

Limitations:
  • The Mistform can only be maintained very briefly.
  • Conversion is a long and complicated process that can leave him vulnerable.
  • Self-healing cannot begin when no blood has been consumed recently.
  • His instincts are not flawless or akin to precognition.

Weaknesses:
  • [Sunlight]: The obvious one. Dragul Vampires are weak to sunlight, and though a ray of sunshine will not immediately turn them into ash, they can only stand sunlight for a short time before being forced to shield themselves from it somehow. Dragul are also unable to use their powers if in contact with sunlight.
  • [Impalement]: While usually able to regenerate wounds easily, dragul vampires will see their healing powers and physical strength severely handicapped if impaled through the heart.
  • [Fire]: Dragul are particularly weak to fire. They cannot regenerate very quickly from burns, so incineration is an effective way of killing them.
  • [Water]: Water is also an important weakness for dragul. While rain and artificial bodies of water will not affect them, natural bodies of water will burn them like acid, proving to be easily lethal if the vampire is exposed for too long.
  • [Blood Addiction]: Though human blood can greatly empower a dragul vampire, the power rush can easily become addictive, making a vampire lose all self-control and become a mindless beast that lives only for the rush. While in this state, dragul become even stronger than their moderate counterparts, but in turn most of their higher abilities are blocked out or can only be used in a very limited manner.

Likes: Fighting, girls, rock, movies, potato chips
Dislikes: Sunny days, books, healthy food, other vampires, vampire hunters

Additional Information-
Birthday: August 10th
Theme song: Here
Favorite food: Grilled sandwiches
Greatest fear: Losing his mother or becoming blood-addicted

Name: Astrid Tremblay
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance: Here
Young Blood?: No
Bio: Not all of the children that were rescued from the clutches of Excelsior by the Los Angeles Stars went on to become superheroes. Some, rather than join the Wonder Warriors, decided to return to their normal lives. One such young woman eventually found a stable source of income and an attractive French immigrant with whom she started a relationship. Not too long after that, Astrid was born. Of course, her story would be boring if that was everything that happened. Astrid's mother was, in fact, a successful thief known as White Noise, who infamously assured the heroes that cornered her that she would never be caught, before plunging herself into a coma with her powers.

Growing up the child of a 'villain' was no easy task and quickly led the young Astrid to dislike crowds of people and most instances of social interaction, preferring to spend time by herself or with a select few close friends, though the fact that her father frequently moved around made earning said friends difficult. When her powers manifested at around the age of 15, however, the girl became interested in her mother's legacy. Practicing with her powers, she discovered that she could teleport long distances and traveled to an abandoned house she used to explore during her father's brief stay in Arizona, where she began exploring the abandoned Excelsior facility where her mother had once been held, snooping around and taking abandoned gadgets and trinkets and pieces of tech back with her to San Diego.

Not long before the present, she met a young man by the name of Adrian, who persuaded her to join him and form a group called the Cabal, assuring her that they would do great things together. They have been preparing a grand plan and looking for allies in the meantime, recruiting a young vampire as well.
Powers:
  • [Imperceptibility]: Fairly self-explanatory
  • [Teleportation]: Same as above

Limitations:
  • Imperceptibility can only be used on herself so far, and only for brief periods of time.
  • Line-of-sight/short range teleportation has a brief cooldown period.
  • Long-range teleportation has a 12-hour cooldown period, can only be used on places she can remember or visualize or that she has strong ties to, and leaves her exhausted upon using it.

Weaknesses:
  • [Weak]: Having no physical abilities, no particular strength and no hand to hand combat training, Astrid is easy to overcome once caught.
  • [Teleportation Delay]: She needs a short time to concentrate before long-range teleportation, making her vulnerable then.

Likes: Guns, videogames, collections.
Dislikes: Attention, crowds, rules, authority figures.

Additional Information-
Birthday: April 12th
Theme song:
Favorite food: Sushi
Greatest fear: Ending up like her mother

Name: Mustafa Gaul
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance:

Young Blood?: No.
Biography:
There isn't a lot known about Gaul's parents, as he was placed into foster care at a very early age, two at the latest. For the first five years of his life, he knew his grandmother at least, but he would see her only know and again, and honestly didn't realize she was his relative, just some old lady who came to visit once or twice a month. Anyways, Gaul lived a relatively bad life, always being at the receiving end of bullies and teasing, was often ignored or pushed aside if not outright ignored by others. These experiences would push himself inward, and he would surround himself with made-up characters and scenarios, borrowing from real life and television to create a fantasy world of his own.

This was only to escape his bitter reality of being alone, to ignore the taunts and antics of his peers. More popular and well-liked children simply got away with picking on Gaul, and though he tried to tell teachers and caregivers of his mistreatment, none came to his rescue and most opted to downplay the cruelty as kids being kids. It damaged his psyche, and Gaul began to realize that to better your situation, you had to take matters in your own hands. Gaul got into his first fight at age nine, and was savagely beaten by another kid at school. The kid had friends who pinned the blame as Gaul, and he was the only one punished from the incident. That unfairness stuck with him, and he decided that if he was going to fight, he was going to win, and whatever happened after mattered little.

Gaul began to train his body, and as puberty began, he packed on a little bit of muscle and starting picking up boxing skills from a local gym. His foster parents wouldn't pay for classes, but he'd watch and imitate the routine as best as he could, regardless, he felt confident, and rolled up on the kid who had beat him the previous year. Gaul was a complete savage in his rematch, he kicked the boy so hard in the head that half of his ear tore from his skull. For starting a second fight and due to the bodily injury, Gaul was expelled. Family Services got involved and removed Gaul from his home, and put him with a deranged alcoholic who, for the next five years, beat and shaped Gaul into a murderous fighting machine. Each and every day was a physical confrontation, and each time Gaul would walk away busted and torn, but refused to be broken.

Around this time, Gaul developed an intense hatred and criticism of heroes and what they stood for. He was constantly in danger and yet no one would swoop in and save him. No one came to his rescue, heroes were glamorized on television and it was nothing but a popularity contest to Gaul, who tended to sympathize with the villain and their viewpoints. He saw himself in those downtrodden warriors, he saw himself as the unwanted outcast, beat up and put on display by the popular hero. It wasn't fair, no one would even hear the villain's side of the story, just take the heroes word's at face value and applaud him. When he was fifteen, Gaul put his foster father in a coma and broke every tooth from his mouth, and fled the house and family services entirely.

He would roam around for some time, before finally settling on what path he would take, and that was to be an anti-hero vigilante. Gaul wanted heroes to know what it was like to be on the receiving end of the harshest of blows, to have their lives put on the line without cameras rolling or fans to cheer them on, he wanted them to feel a punch from the outcasts and losers for once. He was a villain by virtue, his opinion on heroes forever forcing him to commit evil since he stood against those who stood for "justice", since, in Gaul's mind, the heroes did not stand for justice but for the status quo. Heroes were not fair and many were certainly not just, so, he would rigorously train his mind and especially his body to face other superhumans, having achieved his own superpowers in the process out of pure unadulterated willpower. Martial arts came natural to him, and he was quick to adopt any and all that he could, anything to give himself a physical advantage against a heroic opponent.

For the past year and half, he's been active in his quest but has yet to make any waves or even establish a name for himself. Which is good for Gaul, as he's unnoticed and easily underestimated by a would-be hero. Now, however, he's ready to make a big splash, and is preparing to confront and take down an entire team of heroes, on television, to give exposure and credence to his viewpoint.

Powers:
  • Enhanced Condition: As a superhuman, Gaul's body is a model of perfection and is exceptional among humanity, his sheer ability to force speed and power from his bones is nothing to scoff at. Working from a base slightly above or right at peak humanity, Gaul has only further improved his physical abilities through his rigorous martial arts training and regimens. His most observed traits are his immense speed, strength, durability, and stamina when in fluid motion.
  • Supernatural Combat: To put it simply, Gaul is on a completely different level when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, able to just One Man Army the shit out of almost anyone he comes across. He leverages his superpowerful body and mind into a mobile and brutally effective weapon, essentially adapting to the fighting style of his opponent and either using it against them or countering it in the heat of battle.
  • Damage Empowerment: Basically, Gaul gets stronger, fast, more durable, and larger pool of stamina the more damage that he takes. He's limited at the beginning of such engagements, being able only to handle what his fairly durable form can take, but steadily progresses and becomes more aggressively empowering as the fight wears on. Eventually, Gaul resorts to attrition and can simply wear down opponents. Fightin' Spirit.
  • Indomitable Will: Exceedingly convinced of his own abilities, motives, and ideology, Gaul is steadfast in his beliefs, not only in his warped view of reality, but his physical abilities and prowess. The man just refuses to quit or give up, which creates an insane feedback loop with his damage empowerment as he'll continue to fight and struggle even if it tears him apart or even kills him. His mind just forces itself to push on even when his body screams for a moment of rest.

Limitations:
  • Gaul must withstand the pain or damage he is taking for it to become empowering, otherwise, the overwhelming damage will just knock him out or outright kill him if it's too strong of an initial attack.
  • Self-Doubt and utter shock can end up breaking his willpower and spirit, which in turn will just whittle away at his fighting ability.

Weaknesses:
  • [Non-Physical]: Gaul is at home in physical confrontations, hand to hand and up in your face. He is hard-countered by long range, magic, and energy attacks. He only has his body and it responds to physical damage, he has no flight or projectiles to use. Not only this, but his only defense against telepathic attacks on his mind is his Indomitable Will, which can be overcome with enough brute force telepathic power.
  • [?]: I'm probably missing something, but that above weakness is a pretty big one, and his limitations give you an idea of what his power range and tier are.

Likes: Fightin' Spirit
Dislikes: Losin' Spirit

Additional Information (Optional; remove if unused)-
Birthday: November 19th

Greatest Fear: Not realizing his goals

Just two things with the app, mainly tied to the powers. First is that, if Gaul is a regular human, he really shouldn't have attained that kind of power through training and determination alone. The second is that I think his strength level is a bit too high, considering how he starts out as being "Strong enough to lift large aircrafts and destroy toughest metals, fast enough to break Mach 1 (1,236km/768mph), durable enough to take powerful explosions.", with the ability to go even higher, up to an indeterminate limit, once he takes damage. I'd ask you to either make it so that his enhanced condition is enhanced or expert level with the ability to get to advanced level through damage empowerment, or give him a more pointed weakness(es) to balance out the character.

The rest seems fine.

Apologies, I copied the powers over from Infinite Justice and didn't re-read the level I had Gaul at. He is more in line with Enhanced Condition or Peak Human as a base, which it then builds from. I wrote his biography with that level in mind, not the insane level I imported originally. Changing now.

Might as well post it here, since it's been mentioned in the Discord already :P Basically, we'll be going against a few rank B and C supervillains that decided to team up to cause havoc in San Diego.
