Alexis is supposed to have a few gadgets on her, haven't really defined what exactly (my only idea so far was basically rocket sneakers), so we can work out something if you'd like.

Hmm, interesting point... considering they're outside and all not sure what would really be in place, considering how long it's been. But I wouldn't be opposed to some thing like that if it's done right.

outside of developing a literal hand cannon can't imagine anything that would be of use to Wendy. Plus given her origins I honestly think Alexis would one of the few things Wendy wouldn't be able to hack, or at least doing so would have major repercussions when it came to feedback.

I wasn't going to suggest Wendy hacking Alexis, I agree that it wouldn't be possible and if it were, it'd be very awkward to RP :P

I meant to say that if you came up with anything you'd like Wendy to use, we could possibly say that Alexis had it. But if you don't think that'd work out, that's fine.

If you can't come up with a way for Weny to be directly useful in general, then perhaps say that one of the powered thugs is some sort of McGyver tech super? That way, she could hijack his stuff to neutralize him (and possibly even aid in the rest of the fight).

I was thinking we could rush at him and then hit simultaneously to surprise him. After that we would lure him away from everyone else.

might do that.
though it does beg the question. Even if Wendy doesn't hack Alexis, she's going to notice something funny just by being near her. How do you want to play that.

I'm not sure, I figure it was inevitable for someone to notice something weird with so many technopaths around, but I haven't really thought of a plan to deal with that. I'd prefer it to remain an unconfirmed suspicion, since I'd rather not have to rush character development, but beyond that, no idea.

It does occur to me, though, that if they go to the same school alreay, then this can't be something new for Wendy, so maybe she simply hasn't acted on it due to shyness or some other factor?

Well I mean Red did just come riding in on a motorcycle equipped with dual machine guns. Just saying.

Also, to reiterate because it was glossed over on a previous post, Red's vigilante identity is unknown, instead he'd be known as "The Mask" when seen in his outfit.
Known mostly as Finn, but also known as a few other things I can't put in a signature by those who know me.

The two know each other in school and more or less compete in the traditional sense (Academics and athletics), while unbeknownst to Roy they also compete in the crime fighting scene as The Mask vs Roy.

Sorry if that was more complicated that it had to be. I could always just about changing this before we get too far along, or I can just have his identity be revealed shortly to the group.

Well, if he's going to join the team ya I'd assume people would know who they are, since no one else will really be hiding their identities. I edited though regardless so that Roy referred to him as the mask.

I'll plan on his identity being revealed towards the end of the current fight.

SPECIES APP DRAFT

Postby Yekrenia » Tue Dec 19, 2017 2:59 am

Race Name:
• (Sin.) Kletter
• (Plu.) Kletterians
• (Adj.) Kletterian
World of Origin: Dasan
Territories: Dasan is a habitable moon that orbits the second gas giant of the Dasan Star System. The landscape of Dasan is defined by mountainous taiga or jungle archipelagos, with the largest islands being approximately 700 to 1,000 kilometres in land mass. Islands that are not lushed with mountainous forests are hilly and with flat coast lines, making it ideal for building naval bases or coastal cities. There are no large inland bodies of water on Dasan, with oceans - and ice near the north and south poles - being the only major obstacles separating Kletterian nations from each other. Subsequently, on a side note, Kletterian military history is largely shaped by naval warfare, which thereby made the Kletters expert sailors both on water and eventually interstellar space.

Urban areas are defined as a combination of Germanic Neoclassicism Revival architecture with Art Deco architecture, with older or traditional skyscrapers constructed in a neoclassical fashion, and newer skyscrapers built in a Constructivism architecture. Skyscrapers are commonly constructed with concrete and steel, with titanium used exclusively in cities or structures built along or near the coast; however, traditional materials (e.g. Brick and Wood) are sometimes used when steel and concrete are not relatively available, and even then only structures of Vernacular architecture are commonly constructed of these materials. Kletterian infrastructure is unusual - if not also primitive to certain other galactical cultures - in which people actually get about via rail travel, with trolley and metro lines for city limits, high-speed rail travel for intercity limits, and hyperloops for international limits. Due to the vast oceans on Dasan, ocean travel is a common form of transportation, whether it be to transport passengers and freight on a local or international level. Lastly, a common feature found in towns, villages, and residential areas are narrow roads that are large enough for bikes and pedestrians to go about their way; however, through the industrialisation and mechanisation of warfare, Kletterian nation-states have adopted vehicles (tanks and APCs) that are small enough to traverse such small streets.
Race Appearance:
• (Anatomy): Kletterian anatomy is quite identical to Homo Sapien anatomy; however, the Kletters are notable for four features not found in the Homo Sapien species. Compared to the average Homo Sapien, Kletters are rather distinctively lightweight (45kg to 55kg) and short (140cm to 160cm), and with their long and lean limbs, Kletters can be mistaken for a kind of hairless abominable form of Gibbon Apes upon first glance. In addition, due to the Kletter's short body and small frame, Kletters have lean limbs that are slightly longer than human limbs (usually two to three inches longer); however, because of their ectomorph body type and low body fat, Kletters are surprisingly difficult to distinguish between both male and female. Elsewhere, Kletters do not retain any nostrils or a nose, rather there is instead a small bump that naturally serves a tiny cavity (which acts as a secondary lung to create and regulate heat to the brain). Lastly, because of the dim lighting from Dasan's red-blue binary stars, Kletters have extraordinarily large eyes that are twice as big than those of the Homo Sapiens, granting the Kletterians to adapt in environments with low or poor lighting; however, being that the two suns give off a weak red-bluish lighting, the Kletterian evolution of living in low lighting environments have reduced their sight to see 1/3 of the colours that an ordinary Homo Sapien can see, but the larger Kletterianeyes grant superior magnification, allowing them to see far away objects with two to three times the clarity than that of Homo Sapiens.

Description/Lore: The Kletterians - better known in Latin as, Oculis Album (lit. "White Eyes") - are the descendant of the one-eyed cave-dwelling apes called, the Watchers. The Kletterian gas giant moon, Dasan, was once a frigid icy moon with walls of ice the size of skyscrapers for thousands of years until the Dasan stars matured and brightened. Even before the end of the Dasan ice age, traces of pre-historic civilizations took place all over the world, but the modern Kletterian would not come of age for several millennia, with the Watchers reigning dominance across the 'then-prehistoric' mountains and forest islands of Dasan.

The Kletterians were a radical evolution from their physically hearty and intimidating predecessors (Watchers), with temperate forests and jungles (only within the limits of the equator) vastly rendering the Watcher's size, bulk, and weight a burden against such restrictive natural confinements. While the Watchers wielded superior strength, endurance, and stamina, the Kletterians had vastly superior intelligence, agility, and eyesight compared to their hulking cousins. In over several thousand years following after the ice age, the Kletterians stood as the dominant species of Dasan after surviving a number of plagues and famines, half of which drove the Watchers to extinction (the rest being killed off by war and/or old age).

With the Watchers extinct, the Kletterians were able to settle down in the forests and beyond the safety of the coast. Similar to humanity somewhere else in the universe, innovated toolmaking and the domestication of other species on Dasan gave the Kletterians greater and greater power to expand their populations, and trade would eventually ensured the diffusion of new technologies across the world. Being that Dasan is made up of 85% water, naval technology equaled power, both economically and militarily - becoming both a vital tool for international trade and war itself.

Around the same time that humanity was undergoing the Age of Discovery, the Kletterian species were undergoing economic, political, and scientific advancement that was only enhanced and accelerated through centuries of naval conflicts and imperialism. Unlike humanity, whom had the luxury of retaining expanding outwards on land most of the time, the Kletterians constantly had to look out to sea beyond the safety of their islands in search for lands that would accommodate their ever-growing populations and cities. At the same time, by the time humanity had entered the 16th century, the Kletterians were already embracing the industrial revolution on a global scale, with only the most powerful Kletterian nations having massive navies and the industrial capabilities to manufacture and maintain them (e.g. Assembly Yards).

Through naval conflicts and innovation, armed conflicts rapidly changed from the small and wooden paddle-propelled galleys of the past: after five massive wars within the span of 200 years (around the same time humanity was undergoing the 18th and 19th centuries), the Kletterians were quick to invent superior firearms, radar, jet engines, missiles, and ultimately militarized space stations (Kinetic Bombardment). Simply known as the 'Age of the Iron Wars' in translation, there were four superpower nations that dominated the land and seas of Dasan - Tyrussia, Verlinia, Shenhaun, and Kalivia.

All four nations were highly competitive, which lead to three periods of military and cultural tensions known as the 'Arctic Conflicts'; which were arms races by which the lethality of Kletterians' relatively new warfare technologes would be further refined upon in their destructive potential and precision, complimented with ever evolving battlefield doctrines and tactics as all four nations sought to intimidate each other, with newly developed military spacecraft and space-stations playing a large part in all three periods. Around the time humanity had ended World War One, Tyrussia would be the first Kletterian nation to launch the first colonization program beyond the safety and confinements of Dasan - triggering a new age in space colonization and drawing a slow close to the third/last Arctic Conflict, subsequently entering Kletterians as a 'Tier 4' Class civilization in the Technological Achievement Tiers. So around the same time that humanity ended World War Two, the Kletterians would begin to embrace a new age in space colonization, ushering in another era of technological and scientific innovation that lead to the creation of solar-sail propelled spacecraft - something that was largely influenced by the long and rich naval history of the Kletterians.

Once again, the Kletterians would sail the cosmos much like how they sailed the seas in their newfound quest for new colonies/homes for their species as a whole. While growing overpopulation on Dasan continued to pose challenges for the four superpowers, the cooperative development of wormhole travel (around the time humanity ended the Cold War) helped the four superpowers to engage in spreading the Kletterian race beyond their native star system, relieving the serious ecological pressures on their homeworld; however, wormhole travel didn't come without a humble beginning. Being relatively too large and power-hungry to be fitted onto Kletterian solar-sail ships, Kletterian wormhole generators had to be built in the form of separate space stations, which rendered other means of sub-light travel by conventional solar sail or eventually FTL via the solar-sail maneuver, Klemens Slingshot Maneuver (an interstellar maneuver where a Kletterian solar-sail ship sails towards a sun and then 'slingshot' around in orbit to be launched at exactly the speed of light or 1.2x greater at best).

Though it was by the human Gregorian Calendar Year 2010 that the Kletterians would make their biggest (albeit accidental) discovery in what should've been a routine jump into a wormhole - the discovery of Earth and the human race. Driven by a combination of militaristic, cultural, and economic ambitions, the Kletterians were quick to befriend Humanity - all the while taking delight in the similarities of each other as both species and civilization alike. Alongside other alien species who had arrived to Earth upon similar ambitions, the Kletterians would establish their colonial cities in a handful of chosen countries - Tyrussia would establish a colonial city in Russia; Verlinia would establish its own colonial cities in Germany; Shenhaun would establish a colonial city in China; while Kalivia its own colonial city in Spain.

Unfortunately, such expansion did not come without some serious exceptions. Hoping to avoid backlash and unrest among the human race, the four Kletterian superpowers divided their colonial cities into sectors - allowing the respectable countries on Earth to have a slice of the metaphorical colonial pie and have a share of their power into Kletterian politics. Though the division of sectors in the cities were of good intentions to prevent full intergalatical imperialism, the native Kletterian governments back on Dasan were not pleased to find out that their colonial assets had to accommodate humanity.

Humanity wasn’t an entirely hostile race to the Kletterians indeed, but the four Kletterian superpowers were largely worried that humanity might gain unauthorized access to their technologies or attempt inter-racial breeding. While the latter couldn’t be prevented, the Kletterians knew that humanity was a violent species as equal as themselves, so it was only fair that the four superpowers did everything they could in their power to divert humanity onto the path of peaceful space-ferrying explorers, not the warmongers that the Kletterians became; however, that was only better said than done. Unlike the democratic governments common on Earth, the Kletterians were collective by nature, which paved the way for oligarchies, dictatorships, and imperial governments - which was why it came to Earth’s surprise that the four Kletterian superpowers had kings/queens and ‘supreme leaders’ instead of prime ministers and presidents.

While Earth was not exactly welcoming to work with the Kletterian rulers, the promise of limited colonization and imperialism was a compromise that the four superpowers were willing to agree upon. Unfortunately, while the four superpowers were successful in placing their colonial assets on Earth, the militaries of the respectable superpowers were not exactly comfortable on dividing their colonial cities into different sectors of administration - sectors being controlled by humanity and the others being controlled by the Kletterians was certainly a way to instill distrust in the eyes of military commanders. While political dissent was near impossible to instigate by the Kletterians (secret police, informants, and censorship), it became clear that the Kletterians would be off to an uneasy start in an age of interstellar expansionism...
Race Powers:
(Enhanced Athleticism / Enhanced Flexibility):
- Males are fast and capable climbers
- Females are naturally acrobatic and flexible
- Both Genders can navigate tight spaces and turns without stopping
(Enhanced Smell / Inferior Stamina):
- Having no nose also makes it impossible for Kletters to pronounce human nasal sounds ("M" and "N")
- Kletters have a high sense of taste to compensate their lack of smell; however, their sense of taste is especially reactive to sweet, sour, and spicy substances
- Kletters generate less stamina and breath than humans, which leaves Kletters with slower running and walking speeds; however, Kletters are otherwise extremely wary of their surroundings and clear minded thanks to their nasal lung regulating the heat in their brain
(Enhanced Beauty):
- Kletterian Females are renowned for either their cuteness or beauty, not only for their body and voices, but their eyes as well
- Kletterian Females are known for their display of grace and flexibility in dancing, especially in ballet and gymnastics; however, said beauty had been weaponised to create the deadly Kletterian Female Assassin and Commando Corps across many Kletterian civilisations
- Compared to Kletterian Males, which are born with black, brown, or blonde hair (and brown, green, or blue eyes), Kletterian Females come in a diverse variety of hair and eye colours; however, there is a small chance that Kletterian Males are born with a colour only found in Kletterian Females
(Unwavering Diligence):
- Nasal Lung can regulate heat in the brain, granting Kletters a clear and focus mind even when on the run; however, as previously mentioned similarly in the lack of smell, Kletterians lose their breath much sooner than humans when sprinting, starving, dehydrated, and/or sleep deprived
- Due to the collectivist family traditions and values in Kletterian civilisations, individual Kletters are moulded into being less important than the group, and subsequently being forced to be accepting to the demands of the group or else be discriminated, shamed, or vanquished at worst
- Most Kletterians Males are particularly calm and stoic, showing displays of enduring screaming/yelling and harsh insults multiple times for an entire day (whereas the average Human can become either frustrated, hostile, or helpless within a few seconds or minutes after being yelled or screamed at); however, not every Kletterian Male would react to such emotional and mental abuse with such forgiveness and subtle words
(Enhanced Vision / Inferior Color Sight):
- Red and Blue binary stars - combined with the distance - create low lighting and poor ambiance (Average Foggy Morning on Earth = Average Day in the Northern nation-states on Dasan)
- The large eyes of a Kletter can amplify low lighting up to 10,000 times (60,000 times lower than ordinary night vision goggles), which is enhanced by three additional lenses (granting a Kletter two to three times the clarity of a far away object than an ordinary human eye); however, bright lighting can severely blind a Kletter if flashed or suddenly directed in his/her direction
- Kletterian eyes have inferior colour sighting due to the poor/low lighting on Dasan, which only grants a Kletter the ability to see 3/5s of the colours that an average human can see (Average Human can see a million different colours); thereby rendering camouflage extremely useful in confusing and fooling an average Kletter

Race Limitations: (See Race Powers for details)
Race Weaknesses: (See Race Powers for details)
Additional Info:
(Accustomed to Big Collectivist Families and Groups):
- Average Kletter Female can give birth to two to eight children
- Archipelago nation-states isolated and protected cultures from easily blending with each other, thereby allowing monoethnical populations and the creation of super megapolis city-states
- The Kletterian fertility rate commonly creates large families, with some families having at most twenty (20) children
(Lean Physique):
- Natural Ectomorph body type leaves Kletters with inferior durability (e.g. Average Human can with stand a strong sucker punch to the face with a bloody nose and/or broken teeth; however, the same sucker punch would leave an average Kletter with a traumatised nasal lung and immediate unconsciousness)
- It is not an uncommon occurance for Kletterian males and females be nearly or completely indistinguishable from each other, with the only notable difference if possible being breast size, voice, facial features, muscle composition, and/or sexual body parts
- Only some Kletterian males are naturally born with extra testosterone, which only 10% of the Kletterian population having muscular Kletterian males; however, there is a 3% chance that Kletterian Females are naturally born with extra testosterone
(Language Barrier):
- There are four primary languages spoken among the Kletterians; Tyrussian ("Еръгта"; Romanticized, "Er'gta"), Verlinian/Lavarian ("վյորյասե"; German Romanticized, "Vjoorjase"), Shenhuanese ("大山语"), and Kalivian ("յեիտիկւա"; Spanish/Portuguese Romanticized, "Jeitiqua").
- Tyrussian is an inflection language and shares many coincidental traits with its human counterpart, Russian; however, like any Kletterian language, there are no nasal sounds, instead being replaced with 'ejective' and 'soft' markers ('Ъ' and 'Ь') to exemplify either harsh or soft pronunciation in consonants
- Verlinia and Kalivian share the same alphabet; however, Verlinia speaks Lavarian (a Old English and Dutch hybrid language) while Kalivia speaks Kalivian (a Spanish and Latin hybrid language)
- Shenhuan uses logographs and pictograms like Chinese; however, unlike all other Chinese languages on Earth, Shenhuan is a pure agglutinative language with no tones - but it's a language that is infamous for its many grammatical cases, diverse yet context rich vocabulary (similar to English, Chinese, and Japanese), and a significant number of irregular verbs with varying degrees of irregularity (similar to Georgian)

I’m not an OP or co-OP or anything, but the character seems quite a bit overpowered to me. He’s like superman, except with more power.

Honestly I have some concerns with this app. The backstory is very light on details, and important things are mentioned and given no context. Who is Emerald Titan? Since there's already a world of npcs established by the OP, how does he fit into it? Is he still alive or involved in your character's life? Also, I need more details about this suit, where did it come from, was it Emerald Titan's? How does it effect Garret's powers and what part of his powers come from his suit and what parts are from him?

Speaking of the power, they seem like too much of a random assortment and too powerful. It seems like he accesses most category of powers and if he mastered all of these he'd be nearly unbeatable. In terms of powers he just reminds me way too much of superman, even his weakness of magic, feels like a superman like trait that isn't really enough to actually limit a character.

The only other thing I have to say is that the backstory feels a little forced. Having tragedy is fine, but you use it a few too many times as plot device, maybe pick one of those events and develop it out more?

Ultimately this may all seem harsh, but I promise it's entirely constructive. My suggestion is, pick a single power and aspect of the backstory you really like and develop those and it will lead you to a full character. It isn't to say you're limited to only those aspects, but developing them will give a direction for knowing what to add and what is too much.

I really hope you work on this app and apply with it again :)
