Colombia, the CDR
It was a sunny day in Colombia, the mood of the Capital was a mixed one. It was undoubtedly true that the CDR was in the process of becoming a great post-USA Nation. President Menking was in the Gray house, the president very happy with the state of the Confederation. The Republics were getting along well enough with the Government so he was able to work effectively for the Confederation. Education for the various Republics was developing under the pretext of choice. This has lead to a drift from traditional schooling to Charter schools, which have shown to be more effective and innovative when it came to schooling. This was one of the Domestic developments going on, and it was also on the brink of a American Educational revolution. Menking was a firm believer that getting educated will get people “out the hood” and into the middle class.
The introduction of Indiana had gone well, it's military forces and assets were gradually interlinked with that of the CDRs. It would be one of the more bitter sweet admissions into the Confederation considering the nature of Gadsen at the moment. All Hoosiers had to be called home, to assure their safety, as the CDR could never be sure what the rouge regime would do in retaliation to the civilian population. However their history with civil rights wasn't the greatest, so that didn't give them the greatest of hopes. Regardless all that could be done for the moment is prepare.
However there was other things for Menking to consider as well. The C1A Davis was entering production soon, and would be the MBT would gradually outnumber the M1 Abrams the Military was currently using. As far as the Air Force went, F-35’s, F-22’s, and other Aircraft were gradually Building up. The Air Force was definitely one of the Biggest in post-USA America.
Menking sipped a cup of Coffee, he got a phone call. A phone call from the Secretary of Defense. “Hello?” He asked the caller.
“Mr. President, our expectations proved to be correct. Gadsden has declared war on us……………..the first Declaration of War on the American continent in I don’t how many years. Orders?” Secretary of Defense James Fuller said.
“Damn, operation Liberty in Danger is now a go. We knew this was coming, let’s give those bastards a reason to hate us.” He said, the grip on his pen tightening.
“Yes sir, I’ll get back to you soon.” The SoD Said before hanging up.
Menking shot up, and began organizing an appearance with congress for military operations and a declaration of war against Gadsen.
To Gadsen: We, the Confederation of Democratic Republics declare war upon the state of Gadsen. Their obvious disrespect and disregard for Human Rights is sickening, and we intend to right those wrongs.
Operation Liberty in Danger
The Military has mobilized a bit after Indiana had joined the CDR, and reserves were gradually being called into the Army. At this point, there was an open call for all Reserves to report to their nearest bases for military operations. Not only that, the Republics went into full production and recruiting mode. Especially from Indiana it seemed. It was coined as the “Wrath of the Hoosiers” by the Media, considering the prompt response by Indiana who was in the most immediate danger of any Gadsen incursions.
The Air Force got to work, Targeting Gadsen Air Bases, AA Defenses, munition Production, things to contribute to the war effort. They also targeted Army and Marine targeted on the way to Chicago, one of the first objectives of the CDR Military. They also targeted infrastructure that would help the Gadsen Army move about, and get to their objectives effectively. Oh no, when the CDR was done, not only would they not be safe to move, it would be difficult to move. No air transportation of any kind by the Gadsen Military would go without being shot down. Gadsen Air Space is now going to be put under firm CDR control.
Meanwhile in the Cities pamphlets were dropping assuring them “Their day of Freedom was at hand.” This was especially true for the city of Chicago, which the CDR Military intended to liberate First. As 150,000 CDR Army Soldiers rolled across the border. Their objectives were clear, the first being the liberation of Chicago. They had a very specific way they would be dealing with the Gadsen Government, which lead to Special Operations Units infiltrating Chicago to stir dissent, and hopefully get their hands on Government Officials. Especially when it came to making sure no one left as CDR Military drew closer to the city. As it grew ever obvious of the situation, it was a matter of mere hours before CDR troops would be in the city.
Meanwhile the Marines chose an area near Chicago called Evanston to land 40,000 Marines. Aerial support kept their Aerial view, and make sure the Marines would not be under threat from the Gadsen Army. First off the city of Evanston would be captured, making use of AAVs, then bringing equipment on land, where the Marines would set up before pushing south to the capital.
Landing points for soldiers, and equipment were established as the "stuff" that was needed to fight the war was put on the ground. Meanwhile precise strikes against enemy positions were carried out as the Army and Marines advanced. The help of Special Forces specialized in infiltration of Urban areas surly helped, and the fact that this would probably be the case of Urban Warfare in america if there has ever been such a scenario.
This would lead to the capture of Chicago, which the CDR hoped the least amount of damage would be dealt to the city. The civilian population was expected to be very supportive of the of the CDR, so care was being given for the Military’s presentation. After that, further steps would be taken to silence the Gadsen military, and try to convince the military via propaganda that the war was over for them. This was how it was all supposed to work in theory at least.
