Small Town Apocalypse- OOC

A newly discovered super-virus that transforms its victims into flesh-craving zombies is spreading throughout the United States. The virus is transmitted through bodily fluids-usually by bites or scratches-and their is currently no cure. People who are infected "turn" after an amount of time depending on the location and severity; someone who is lightly scratched on the arm may turn in 12 hours, someone who is severely bit on the arm may turn in an hour, and someone who is bit in the neck may turn in a couple minutes. Death lasts for a few minutes before turning. Currently, only major cities have reported any zombies, and those cases have been contained, so most people are living life as usual.

Our story takes place in the small town of Slaneville, North Carolina. The population is 20,000. There's a local school, a small police station, and a hospital. The people live humble, quiet lives for the most part, and nothing interesting happens in Slaneville. Unexpectedly, the virus has somehow reached the town. Several people have been infected and are now seeking to devour the flesh of the living. You are a resident of Slaneville. You can be a school teacher, a doctor, a police officer, a teenager, a criminal or any other type of person as long as it's reasonable.

Although being a heavy smoker and drinker, Ben never fails to fulfill his responsibilities when it comes to police work. He is serious but also laid back, and he isn't afraid to question authority. He can be sarcastic and blunt at times, since most of the police work in Slaneville involves simple issues, but when serious problems arise, Ben is determined to solve them.

Skills: Proficient at using a wide range of firearms, decent at melee combat, good at solving problems.
Weaknesses: His smoking and drinking has deteriorated his health, and he doesn't take criticism of his work well.
Likes/Dislikes/Fears: Likes: Smoking, drinking, gambling, and shooting. Dislikes conspiracy theorists and criminals. Fears that he will fail to protect Slaneville.

Bio: Ben Tailor was born and raised in Slaneville, and he's lived there his entire life. His parents were farmers who owned a large melon farm. Ben attended Slanevile Elementary and then Slaneville High School and worked on the farm in the meanwhile. Ben wasn't the best student, but that was mostly the fault of having to work on the farm. Ben was raised around guns, so he naturally became a good shooter. At the age of 17, Ben's mother was diagnosed with cancer, and she died several months later. Her death had a significant impact on Ben and his father, which caused his father do become a drunk who barely worked on the farm anymore. Ben tried to keep up with the farm's work, but it was too overwhelming for just one person. The farm's crops died and all that was left was the farm house. Ben's father died a few years later from natural causes when Ben was 22. After his death, Ben decided to move out of Slaneville to Charlotte, but he ended up coming back home a year later. Being an only child, he inherited his parents' home and decided to join the police. There were few police officers in the Slaneville Police, so he managed to work his way up the rank of sheriff at age age 36. Ben got married to a resident who went to the same high school, but they divorced after 2 years. Now he focuses mostly on work and barely has a social life.

Born and raised in Slainsville, Robin was born to a father and mother who worked as teachers at the school he is principal at now. When he was young, he was showing to be very smart at a young age and was an honor student as his high school. When he graduated from high school, Robin went to University of North Carolina at Pembrook and got his masters in education and got a job as a teacher at the high school at 24. He taught science there for 10 years until he applied for the job of principal and managed to get the job. He has kept the job for the years since then. He isn’t married and has no kids.
