Several merchants from the Imperium were encountered there, and sent back to the Emperor with a demand that the polity they represented send someone to negotiate a border, while simultaneously the merchants secretly received a message from the locals asking for aid in being freed from the invaders. The Imperium sent a Great Company demanding the liberation of the city of whateveritwas, and that demand was refused, leading to conflict.

He could let the town go and take it again after the Imperium left...

Going from basically Malbork (Marienburg) to Brest.

Or atleast that's what I established, so it'd take about 3 months before getting to brest. I'd simply ride the Imperium Border.

Plopping a post.

Hmm. How did the Skulk link that tavern burning down to the attempt on the governor's life?

They followed the trail of the Crow with the attempted kidnapping with them going into a province and the burning in a tavern they were mostly in.

The attempt is a guess but if it came out wrong then I'm sorry. For now on I'll put more exposition for it before I act.

And at least they are sending someone but a shame I can't get back the equipment. Would they able to know how to .make their own?

Ah, but the kidnapping didn’t take place, did it? I’m just not sure how they would have linked a crime that didn’t occur to Turner, especially since his personal involvement would be unknown.

Oh no, definitely not. The nomads of the Great Plains will take a long time to replicate anything aside from -maybe- the crossbows.

Woulds starting testing on producing iron and maybe even successfully forging a shitty chisel or something be a little to ambitious for my 4th (I think) post? I'm cool with sitting around doing mesoamerican things and crying about being lost in time for a few posts but all this industrialization abroad is a bit intimidating. Sort of unrelated follow up question, what's the situation with metal production in the land's o the top dogs? You guys making steel and / or using blast furnaces yet? My not knowing in the slightest how to turn iron into steel seems like it could be an issue in the future, especially if there's no foreign steel forgers to kidnap and torture for information.

No it didn't, so I will write that collation out. The main priority will still get the governor since it would be the best chance for evidence on the Faceless Men and Turner maybe but they would have a meeting with Turner and try to bring some peace to Ego.

I also will be going back to Nom Sampai with the emissaries and talk to the King about relations as well with the emissaries of Oshanka.

Assuming you know how to find iron ore, mine it, and smelt it, there’s nothing wrong with putting together, say, a sand-cast iron chisel. Though I honestly couldn’t tell you much about Mesoamerica’s iron deposits.

Mainly blast furnaces, though those were initially built using crucible/blister steel and bloomery iron. I had a misbegotten upbringing as a ferrous metals material engineer.

I think Norsca/Ego use more generic cast iron.

I think Norsca/Ego use more generic cast iron.

One of the largest iron mines in Mexico is actually quite close to garbage mesoamerican village #1 - and it's full of tasty hematite! Not sure how far down the deposits are though, so I'm just going to say there's a bit on the surface so I can follow the rust in the river nearby and find it. I know roughly how to make a bloomery, though I'll probably have to experiment with it a bit to get the heat / charcoal-iron ratio right.

Cool, cool. Yep, some light surface deposits (or bog iron) are completely plausible.

Only difference between Who's iron and Norsca's is that Norsca would have a higher quality but must import it. Who's is lower but they have large sources that have been opened and yet to be opened thanks to spare population.

Basically stereotypical Vikings ruled by a (definitely not immortal) succession of Kings. Kelmet was planning to change more to a republic versus feudalism, but right now they’re essentially a feudal society.

A Viking republic? Seems epic. Though wouldn't there be unwilling to give up there land or would they be like a clan parliament?
