In Norte Chico on the other hand, I can chill in a nice stone city and probably lug stones or weed corn fields for delicious anchovies, but it's gonna be a lot harder to become a leader of men in an established and thriving civilization.

Ah, tough call. I suppose it depends if you personally value survival or ambition more.

Ah yes, G-tech's guy killing off any other immortals that do appear. Tell me, does he kill off those who are benign and merely seek the betterment of humanity?

Neither of those places are anywhere near the Imperium :P

In a word? Yes. Humans are mutable, fallible. Even if they proceed with the best intentions initially, their immortality and ability mean they are deadly dangerous, for a man with a good heart at the age of twenty can easily be an insane dictator at the age of two hundred. Viktor has a vision for humanity, and a large part of his acceptance of being returned to the past, the mental bedrock he has moored his sanity to, is believing he was sent to the past for a purpose.

Other immortals endanger that purpose with their alternative visions. The humanity of Viktor’s old world tore itself apart because good men seeking good things for their factions and particular nations found themselves at odds. In order to prevent a return to that old world, to build a new brighter world, Viktor must strive to prevent those factions and nations from forming.

Sometimes, the foundation of a better world requires spilling the blood of men whose only thoughts are benign. Sacrifices have to be made on the path of progress.

After all, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

So if Viktor believes was sent back in time for a purpose, for what purpose does he think the other Authors are being sent back?

Probably as those who would lead humanity astray and forge their own powerful states.

It is a cognitive framework that was developed for decades before he was aware any other immortals existed, that of his own unique purpose; it didn’t include room for others.

Still think Jeb would be one of his greatest advisories when it comes to those who could stand up against the Imperium.

I wish. Unfortunately, many of those crops still need a good bit of domestication before they’ll survive in the areas the Imperium inhabits. But never fear, expeditions to the New World will be forthcoming.

Yeah, Turner had them brutally murdered, Red Wedding style. Turner's men managed to overpower and kill Haekho's men due to their drunkenness, while 200 more men wearing black masks and uniforms (to blend in to the darkness) fired volleys of arrows at them, and hunted down anyone who attempted to escape.

Turner killed Haehko himself, firing an arrow into his skull while concealed in a mask and uniform (I didn't include this in the post).

Speaking of ASoIaF, has anyone tried to preserve any of modernity's media and art in the form of adaptations or reproductions based on memory, or at least try to imbue some of the better modern innovations in art and story telling in the ancient populace? Not being able to read much beyond taxes and really simple religious / propaganda pieces would get pretty boring after a time, and I for one would badly miss being able to sit back and read a good novel.

There isn’t much in the way of literature at present in the Imperium, unfortunately, at least not for the masses; printing and paper are still too expensive.

But there’s a fine oral storytelling tradition, and drama and recited poetry.

Full Name: Zachaios Moses
Age: ~17
Appearance: I am a short, pale 'man' with short wavy brown hair and green eyes. I have a lean build but I am not obscenely skinny due to my somewhat balanced diet considering the era I came from. Although I am not strong in upper body strength, I consider my self an above average runner, and do best in distance running. Overall I am the average American, although of Polish descent which may show in my facial features.
Height and Weight: 5'7" or 170cm
Religion: Adventist Christianity, irreligious.
Field of Expertise: N/A
Skills and Strengths: Writing, charisma, knowledge of basic administration and economics, understanding of historical geographic and historical areas.
Weaknesses: Horrible public speaker, generally weak physically, self doubt, ignorance.
Where in the world are you landing?: Michoacán, Mexico
RP Sample: I jolt, suddenly, and I am awake on a warm sandy beach. It's not cold like I'm used to and something is instantly sensed as wrong; I can feel my skin directly against sand. 'Why is there sand, It's winter?' I think to myself as I open my eyes, confused by my current situation. My eyes hurt, but open to see the highlands in the distance. I look down and only see my own bare body. 'Have I been kidnapped?' I think to myself again. I slowly get up off of my feet with mild struggle. Whatever happened, everything hurts like shit now, especially my bones. As soon as I stand up I feel all the blood in my head rush back down, I vomit onto the sand next to me several times over the next few minutes because of this. I plop on the ground again after the fit. As I realize my situation I begin to survey the area in panic. There are no beach chairs you'd normally find on a beach, or anything else of the sort, and no people. Granted I've never seen an ocean beach before, I still feel something is wrong. I shout out in the distance as loud as possible hoping someone would come and find me. No one comes, but, I hear something from a river basin in the distance. It sounds like shouting or something of the sort. What else could ruin my day any more? Probably the sunburn I'll get, or murder, but I have nothing else to do. I get up and start running barefoot over the sand towards the river and the noise.

Is it fine if I post a detailed summary of the past ten years, and what David accomplished since then? As long as it's in the realm of plausibility?

I've honestly never considered the idea, but offhand I would say no- mangroves have rather different chemical composition compared to the traditional locations of bog iron, and function in a different role in a watershed. Bog iron depositions build up, usually, because bogs are endpoints for iron-bearing waters, where that iron is concentrated over long years. Mangroves, on the other hand, are regularly regenerated by the tides.

I'll have you know the Imperium would totally have converted those tribesmen through culture, economic ties, good food, and religion, not killed them ;)

This looks to be in order- glad to have lured you to the forums. Happily accepted, though do note that I will be looking for slightly more in the way of paragraph spacing and content in your IC posts.

Pasong Tirad wrote:Okay, what do I have to read in order to get caught up with this universe's history of Greece and Athens?

Hmm. Inesea's posts would be a bad starting point, but I can summarize briefly. Our history hasn't involved Greek much, amusingly, despite its position in the cradle of humanity. The only real differences you'll see from OTL Neolithic Greece are the influences of traders from the nearby nations, the Imperium and the Confederation of Helios, and probably a growing Christian presence. Also, the proliferation of bronze and iron tools, as compared to antiquity.

Damverland wrote:Is it fine if I post a detailed summary of the past ten years, and what David accomplished since then? As long as it's in the realm of plausibility?

That would be excellent, yes, though fair warning: I prefer probability over plausibility, especially when we're talking about timeskips, because I tend to be more strict with factors that aren't actually RPed out versus those that writers take time to explain and put flesh on the bones of. So, for instance, it is within the realm of plausibility that David has ascended to the rule of his tribe- it is, however, more probable that he has not, so the latter would be my go-to scenario.
